E PZ 10-20 F4 G (DNG Raw file download) (Patreon)

This E PZ 10-20 F4 G zoom lens joins the E 16-50 and 18-105 power zooms and will be of most interest to hybrid shooting who want access to a smooth and progressive zoom feature when shooting movies. Sony already has the E 10-18 F4 lens and there is little or no advantage in terms of image quality over that lens for stills shooters. This lens is a little smaller than the E 10-18 but it cannot match the 10-18 for coverage between the 12 and 16mm focal lengths (the 10-18 can cover a full-frame sensor in full-frame mode between these focal lengths although corner sharpness is not fabulous if you don't us APS-C mode or at least crop to the 16:9 aspect ratio).

This is one of three new wide-angle APS-C lenses. Perhaps Sony's primary focus, with the release of these three new lenses, is for Vloggers who need either wide aperture wide-angle lenses (for figure background separation) or a Power Zoom. They will appeal to owners of the ZV-E10 camera or owners of Full-Frame cameras shooting movies in APS-C/Super 35 mode, e.g., owners shooting 4K movies at 60fps need to shoot in crop mode so may as well use an APS-C lens.

The lens may also appeal to owners of the higher resolution full-frame cameras who don't mind shooting landscapes with a reduced resolution (for photographers who sometimes want to travel with lightweight camera kit).
