Fun Fact: Unlike the original Japanese and 4kids, the Funimation dub actually has Chris Sabat sound like he has something in his mouth whenever Zoro uses 3 Sword Style. (I’d show clips but can’t find any where you guys are at in the story) In the 4kids version Helmeppo threatens Coby with a weird hammer contraption that has a trigger instead of a gun. Really cool that you met Erica Schroeder. She may not be my favorite voice of Luffy but she did have a part in my introduction to One Piece which is probably the only thing I’m grateful about the 4kids dub. It’s nice to always learn about the voice acting industry.

As an old geezer that was in the Navy 30 years ago. Each branch has a different type of salute. It might have changed since then. The salute the One Piece Marines use is closest to the US Navy.

Chris is hilarious trying to be spoilerman, saying names out of context. Also, please watch the 4kids intro song to One Piece is funny, and I would said is top 10 intro songs to one Piece 😂 Is there a gum gum tree? that's a good question Spidey, I'm sure you will find out soon enough 🤣 The Red line as shown in this episode goes almost vertically across the world, and the Grand Line is a body of water that goes perpendicular to the Red Line, across the entire globe. The Grand Line is not a canal, is an ocean route more will be explained in future episodes. With the information you have so far, is a bit difficult to understand, so wait until the East Blue Saga is over. The One Piece world geography is very unique, and it will take hundreds of episode for more details to be revealed. Like Navi said it builds upon itself, that's just how Oda likes to write his story.

4Kids dub also has Zoro screaming "LUFFFYYYYYYY" which was pretty funny. And Sanji's weird ass voice. Was any of it good? No, but it was hilarious.

#SundayRundown (reposted from last week) - OH - btw PLEASE find a way to avoid the episode titles, if you haven't already, I'm begging you. They're not too bad at the start (still some spoilers here and there mind you), but later on they will become the most spoilery dogshit titles you've ever laid eyes on, like some of them are legit experience ruining lol, like fucking DBZ titles "Frieza Defeated! Namek Explodes!" type shit (guess it's just a Toei thing? Since they did/do both? Bastards). So PLEASE - look into a way to do that and avoid them, thanks. ------------------ This week's comment - fun fact the anime and the manga start out differently. In the manga it starts with Luffy as a kid and the stuff with Shanks and then goes into him growing up and leaving to become a pirate. The anime skips all that and starts with Alvida and then shows the Shanks stuff in the form of a flashback instead, though it skips a bit where it shows Luffy punching the sea monster that took Shanks' arm (for some reason? Dunno why they skipped that lol). Guess the anime just wanted to get into the action quicker? Also, Nami isn't introduced in the manga till Orange Town (Buggy's arc), the scene where she robs the pirates of their ship is the first time she shows up but it's in a flashback since Zoro comes across them first in the sea (and then it shows you how they got there through said flashback), and then you're introduced to her proper when Luffy lands in front of her after being released by the giant bird that took him, so the anime brought her forward a little bit (something the Live Action did too). Lastly - and this isn't super relevant but still lol - Shank's voice actor is actually pretty legendary. Not only for voicing Shanks, but for also voicing a character called Char Aznable, who is an iconic character from the Mobile Suit Gundam series (think of him basically as the Vegeta of Gundam, not enitrely accurate but a good enough description lol) who he voiced about 2 decades before his role as Shanks across multiple series and movies. So he was a pretty big get for Shanks and a great voice actor! I just thought i'd mention it because i love both Shanks and Char, so them sharing voices is cool to me lol (He was also Kite's voice in Hunter x Hunter, i can't remember if you guys watched that subbed or not though lol)

Tbh i get why maybe they wouldn't, maybe they just wanna enjoy it without having to take notes. Tbf they have Marketa and Navi there, so they should be fine even without notes - they are the notes!

6:20 - "How you speaking so clearly with a sword in your mouth, man?" This is one of the few superior things in the dub. As I said in a previous post, the "One Piece" dub is great. Better than the "Naruto" dub imo. And while I still prefer each of The Big 3 in sub, I love little choices that the English team makes, like having Chris Sabat hold something in his mouth whenever Zoro does 3-Sword Style.

I literally calculated it... if they go by 2 eps a week for 51 weeks a year and dont skip any filler, it will take them around 11.3 years (only to catch up to NOW)

I feel like part of the reason it looks like there there are more comments pushing for dub is because the sub group feels kinda secure, the reaction already started in sub, so us who wanted it, don’t feel the need to speak up as much. That makes the dub group’s opinion stand out more, since they didn’t get what they wanted and are naturally expressing it louder now.

Also, some people who prefer sub might not comment at all since it can lead to tiring arguments, so it’s not one-sided as it looks. Plus, there are comments thanking for sub or expressing joy for choosing sub, and there is quite lots of them too, those comments usually have more hearts/likes, so the support is definitely there.

There’s been more comments and likes that say to watch the sub. I think it’s better to listen to the majority rather than a loud few after the fact. This happened with DanDaDan. Dub people said switch after the sub people had exited the conversation and they ended up changing it with that input. It’s not just the 4kids dub that people don’t care for. That one is just funny. The dub now isn’t as popular either.
