Marketa, Chris, Suraj, Spidey and Rana present their review and reaction to One Piece: East Blue Episode 96, "All Dried Up" AKA "Erumalu, the City of Green and the Kung Fu Dugongs!" , as well as Episode 97 "Humps, Bumps & Chumps!" AKA "Adventure in the Country of Sand! The Monsters that Live in the Scorching Land!" ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 96 Summary Ace decides to travel with the Straw Hats, as he is hunting for a man known as Blackbeard. The group arrives first at the 'Green City' of Erumalu only to find it abandoned to the desert. Vivi and Nami explain what Dance Powder is and what it has done to Alabasta. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 97 Summary After leaving Erumalu, the Straw Hats plus Vivi & Ace continue through the desert, facing the many dangers of it. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgement One Piece is an original series written by Oda Eiichiro. The animals of the series keep getting weirder. But i love it. It's not a true fantasy adventuring world unless you got weird animals. The Kung Fu Dugongs are the greatest. They're such beloved characters/animals in the fandom that they actually appear WAYYYY later even after this arc in a set of filler eps that you'll most likely skip (with the dugong leader being a central character in the arc) and they also appear as recurring enemies in the One Piece Odyssey game. Speaking of filler - every Ace scene in these eps and the next few are complete filler, or just "anime canon" if you wanna use that term instead. By this point in the manga, he'd already left. You can really REALLY tell which scenes are canon and which aren't because Ace will basically be invisible for the canon scenes and won't say shit or even act for most of them lmao (btw even the scene with Luffy and the old man and him learning about Dance Powder was also filler, in the manga this is where you first learn of it). But it's not necessarily bad filler imo! Who doesn't love more Ace? The Ace and Vivi talk around the camp fire is an especially well liked scene by fans. Anyway, 98-101 has filler in it is the point here, mostly to do with Ace, except the very end of 101 which is canon. (Also funny bit for those that are beyond this - they play a certain character's theme in these two eps that appears WAY before the actual character appears lmao, I had no idea it was this early, I guess they repurposed it for him later on, neat)

Oh Karoo is the undoubtable number one, I just wasn't including him for some reason even though he's an animal from Alabasta lmao.
