I'm excited to see this! I haven't seen any of the new episodes with 15, but I'm not surprised to know there was weird pro-Israel propaganda. I did see David Tennant's arc as 14 because I love him, and—ok. First let me say that I am not a very devoted Doctor Who fan, there is a lot I haven't seen and don't know about the show, and anyone who felt even a little bit compelled to gatekeep the fandom would definitely want to gatekeep me. So, maybe there's something here that I'm missing, but I was initially very shocked and confused to see UNIT re-introduced completely uncritically as the good guys. Hasn't the Doctor always had a somewhat contentious relationship with UNIT despite being ostensibly aligned in their mission to protect humankind? Why were they suddenly being presented as almost like this superhero team of friends and allies of the Doctor? And then I realized... of course now that Doctor Who is owned by the Marvel Machine, it's going to be explicitly and unapologetically pro-(US) military. Honestly, it did not sit well with me and has been a big part of why I've been reluctant to give the latest season (seasons? IDK, I am a bad fan) a watch. I'll be curious to see if you talk about this in your essay, and if anyone else noticed/had the same bad feeling as I did?

oh doctor who is owned by marvel now? christ that wld explain it. yeah the 10th doctor only worked alongside UNIT v reluctantly & always showed them a lot of contempt. like all the soldiers wld b saluting him n going "doctor its an honour" and he'd just b like "yea whatever" lol.
