Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day! It's a good thing that Robert Downey Jr got a job as an actor instead of a weathervane, because he clearly can't tell which way the wind is blowing! "Uhh... Buckley, that joke makes no sense, you can't get a job as a weathervane..." Just watch the fuckin' video! I mean... enjoy!

When you're at the top of the mountain, you always think you'll never be knocked off, certainly not by someone "inferior" to you! Robert Downey Jr, the man whose career was revived by playing Iron Man, does NOT like to hear that it's possible that the stars of tomorrow won't come from Hollywood, but from the Internet! But is it already happening? With movies like Iron Lung, Backrooms, and Obsession all outperforming blockbusters already, and YouTube channels you've never heard of racking up 100 million subscribers, is the sky full of Hollywood stars starting to look a little dim?

I feel like you would possibly enjoy the YouTube Napoleon Blownapart. He makes a lot of videos about MMA and mind I can’t stand MMA, but he throws in so many great jokes while talking about the stuff. I love his content. Especially his videos on fake martial arts. That shit killed me.

Reality Tvs started this train. It cannot be stopped...

I'll try and take a moment to check that out. I am amused by videos about "Bullshido", all the fake martial artists and "self defense" gurus. That's the content that Rogan used to do that was actually good, and then he decided to pivot to "let crackpots say whatever they want and don't push back in any way".

A Dose of Buckley

Yeah, and then content creators basically went "Oh, I can do that!" and they weren't wrong. But no one in the TV industry stopped to think "are we just demonstrating to people how easy it is to make a form of entertainment that could eventually eclipse us?"

That’s when I enjoyed Joe Rogan. I watched a video that explained that he lost his shit when Covid hit. That’s when he became intolerable. The Blownapart video is called “THE MADNESS OF MAKE BELIEVE MARTIAL ARTS”.

I’m glad Animal Control got some recognition. I think Joel does a great job embodying a sarcastic narcissist, similar to his role in Community. Buckley, do you find yourself watching movies or TV shows more? Especially with the new trends discussed.

A Dose of Buckley

I probably watch more TV than movies just because they're easier to consume, but I go on movie binges sometimes. Got Arrow Video for a month a little while back and watched a bunch of classic International stuff I'd never seen, and then also over the last month I rewatched all the Spider-Man movies (all 8 of them).

The most sad part about this is amateur low effort content winning from professionally written and produced movies and shows. I don't give a shit about who's popular and who isn't, but the movie industry is doomed, and tv shows and streaming probably aren't that far behind. I don't want mr Beast telling me about NordVPN to become the new norm...

A 61 year old man with Junior in his name made me laugh out loud. Never actually thought about it before but yeah it's kinda funny

Hell, even by 2012 you had TV adaptations of both Annoying Orange and Fred, which started out as YouTube series. That's expanded to today where Digital Circus, a YouTube cartoon, has made 20 million in the box office this weekend.

Maybe I'm being a bit naïve (just a little bit), but I see a small silver lining in all of this "influencer" and creator content overload. I genuinely believe in the phrase "15 minutes of fame", so I think that eventually even major Internet celebrities like

Mr. Beast will decline in popularity, as well as the trend of Youtube movies being box office megahits and overshadowing other major movies. Plus, there will always be good (and great) TV shows that will also gain a decent following and some popularity too, still keeping scripted entertainment relevant. It may not be that much of a consolation, but it still gives me a little hope for the state of current Hollywood.
