Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day and this one's almost a semi-sequel to my "Nobody Likes Their Own Kids" and "Nobody Likes Your Kids" videos from 2023. A look at how even the world's richest man has seemingly no social awareness of how to parent in public. Guess that'll happen when you only see your own kids once a year or so. Enjoy!

It turns out that Elon Musk is just like normal people after all: He ALSO thinks his nuisance kids are perfect little angels who can do no wrong! Buckley looks at this "HILARIOUS" story Elon tells about taking his child to a Sushi restaurant, and shows us that money can't buy parenting skills.

Elon Musk: Absentee Dad (Extra Dose)

8 salmon rolls for $12.00? Next time I'm in California I'm going to Sugarfish! Get your endorsement deal!

A Dose of Buckley

Yeah, I mean 8pc Salmon Roll at a Sushi restaurant here in my home town is $16 (Canadian, about $12 US), in no world would anyone expect Los Angeles, California prices to match London, Ontario, Canada. ESPECIALLY not for a "high end, snobby restaurant".

Brandon Delon

The worlds blandest man. Nothing he said was remotely interesting or funny or anything. Is that what rich people are? Extremely bland and boring. Ok.

A Dose of Buckley

It's a lifetime of having people laugh at his "jokes" because they don't want to get fired or they feel the need to appease him in some way, so he thinks what he has to say actually is funny. Then he comes across an audience who doesn't HAVE to like him, and they hear him talk and go "oh... this guy thinks he's fucking hilarious" There's the classic one where one of his old friends/sycophants Tweeted about some time they were hanging out at his apartment, and he tells the story about Elon saying "honey badger drinks when he wants" (because Elon thinks comedy is "just say a popular meme that's been beaten into the ground") and the friend says "I made a clutch decision to order pizza at 1am", like all of his friends are SO socially awkward and have no concept of what's actually entertaining to anyone else.

actually buckley 🤓 a sushi roll refers to the entire roll, not one piece, so you can actually only get one roll for $12. which is still really cheap as far as sushi goes though…

A Dose of Buckley

Right, but it's still cut into 8 pieces right? Like yes I'm aware that's probably not a full meal for a person, but Sushi in general is pretty expensive (like even the AYCE places here, which are NOT snobby and let you drink the Soy Sauce if you want, are $40, $50 for dinner).

Chloe Nikulina

yeah, just nitpicking cause I think you said “8 rolls for $12” in the video haha if we’re talking actually expensive sushi, i doubt they would even have maki (rolls) at all, real die-hard traditional places usually just have sashimi (raw fish by itself), maybe nigiri (raw fish on top of some rice). went to a place like that in dallas and it was at least $25 for each little plate with 6 sashimi slices on it

A Dose of Buckley

Yeah... the chef who Sugarfish was created by or whatever, he has a special restaurant in the back of one of the Sugarfish locations. It's a Michelin Star restaurant (because he has a star) and it seats a very small handful of people, there's no menu, everyone is seated and served at the same time (think "The Menu" without the existential crisis) and you get what you get and it's very expensive. People were trying to claim "oh that's where Elon probably took his kid", it's definitely not, because there wouldn't have been a waiter taking orders.

I remember at a local Chinese restaurant these people with two kids brought in happy meals. The staff told them they couldn't bring in their own food. Of course the parents made a big deal and the mother said what's the big deal. They straight up told her to leave and they got pissed. The kids were actually better behaved than their parents.

A Dose of Buckley

Yeah, my issue is almost always parents. They're the entitled ones

Chloe Nikulina

omakase style right? would be infinitely more embarrassing to ask for a burger at one of those

Apparently, Hugh Hefner would bring his own food to restaurants, which was obviously absurd, but at least he had the decency to bring the food with him.
