This, folks. This is why I love doing Junkfood Cinema. Cargill introduced me to a film that, as a Miami Vice fan, I should have seen long ago. A Michael-Mann-produced/Paul-Michael-Glaser-directed/Miami-set action drama about a group of juvenile delinquents reformed by a wilderness survival program led by smoldering man-tower Stephen Lang who must then take up arms against the drug dealers of their Miami neighborhood?! What else do I need to say? Incredible cast, stellar production and cinematography, and a pop-song-laden soundtrack that only serves to further the feeling that BAND OF THE HAND is Miami Vice Jr.!

Why Miami Vice Fans Should Be Racing to Watch Band of the Hand - Film School Rejects

Junkfood Cinema keeps it very manly this week. Cursing one's birth is a self-indulgent, melodramatic action usually reserved for ancient Greek theater. I however find myself regularly cursing the cruel circumstances that lead to my being born in 1984 and thus only getting an infantile gumming of this amazing era instead of ravenously feasting on its offerings as I do now retrospectively.
