Well how can he talk when he is just bones xD but let's not use anime logic. The gas can surely pass through the bone since there are holes in and ob the bone. Lets say his nervous system is in tact because he can move. With that logic the gas could be nerve gas which makes him pass out

With that logic it means he has a brain and spinal cord where the anesthetics can act on to actually make him pass out. But if you’re saying “Let’s say his nervous system is in tact because he can move.” then I can say bones cant move even if they have nerves, only muscle would make him move, and he doesn’t have ligaments and cartilage between his bones to keep them intact instead of falling off. The idea here is that he can move a skeleton because of his devil fruit powers, which makes him a soul that can posses bodies and move them, basically he’s a ghost 👻 . So if he’s a ghost, which isn’t physical matter, then how do gasses make him pass out? He doesn’t have a brain for that to work lol.

Suspension of disbelief doesn’t work if there’s plot holes. If it’s nonsensical then it’s just bad work. If Oda can’t make sense of it then it’s just blatant lying.
