Usually when I do layouts (that is, when I BOTHER to), they're only for myself- so I'm the only one that needs find them semi-readable. For this project, my layouts not only had to be clear for the editor- but the writer as well. And although they may not look it- layouts are the most mentally exhausting part for me. It's all thinking. How to place characters, how to make sure the page flows, how to fit ALL THESE DANG CHARACTERS in the panel without it looking squished. You can probably see how I start pretty strong with the layouts in all my excitement and drew out the expressions and actual body parts... and how quickly that degraded into just placing heads and bodies around the panels haha. Some layouts do still have character expressions- but only when it's super important to the scene.

question: were you always this cool, like since forever, or did you just wake up one morning and it was like BAM! coolness was radiating off you .... ? because coolness. you got it.

And you have to plan space for the speech bubbles too - never thought of that. I write fanfic and haven't a clue about drawing and illustrating so it's very interesting!
