It's a realitivly minor episode in the grand scheme but Flight of the Phoenix is low key one of my favorites. Such a beautiful ending showing some much needed hope for the human spirit to overcome trauma if we just put aside our differences and work together.

I think what's remarkable is, not just that the writing is good, but that it's good for SO many characters at once. Well, except for Tigh being written as the heel SLIGHTLY too much here. Wanted to ask - why the switch to Youtube hosting? Is Vimeo gone? Being on Firefox, somehow now I have to deal with the dreaded spinny delay, even here.

Unfortunately Vimeo has massive costs and charge rates and this year they bumped up the costs even more on us and it's not sustainable for the channel. (I wish I could have some words with them). I'm not sure if it helps or if you're able to on your end, but I know that you might be able to download the YouTube video in order to watch it without the connection. Or at least I think and hope so!

A number of plot points are being expanded and some new ones are being started; it's a kinda prequel to the juggernaut of a storyline starting next ep. - The reality of human beings on the edge of physical and mental exhaustion has really been played on these last few eps, and it's only gonna get worse. The Phoenix moniker is very symbolic - That's two concussions that Dee has had now... - Is Gaeta a Cylon sleeper, or just a good man damned by a good idea? - Galactica is a Jupiter class Battlestar and has no native manufacturing workshops for making Vipers like say, the larger Mercury Class. It's like comparing Enterprise A with Enterprise D. - Quite how they find enough carbon to cloak the 'Blackbird' when they didn't even have any titanium is anyone's guess... - Chief channelling his inner Scotty and making a Delta Flyer; a good ol' skunkworks project and more importantly, a piece of tech that the Cylons have no info on - The Sharon/Helo/Chief love triangle. Hoo boy - The Dee/Apollo/Billy/Starbuck love square. Hoo boy again.

Hey Gals - so next episode is one that has an extended version (which for me, since I watched the show from DVD, was actually the only version I knew) - so that I can better prepare to watch along with you, which version will you be watching? (43 min runtime ot 58 min runtime?)

The deckhand in yellow you guys didn't recognize, that was Jammer. He was in S1 in the episode where they had the tribunal that got out of hand, giving the Chief an alibi and acting like a scared tool when it was announced that Cylons look like humans, then he was part of Apollo's team trying to defend Aft Damage Control when the metal Cylons boarded the Galactica. This epusode also introduces Duck, the red-headed pilot who refused to shake Helo's hand. Sharon flew a Raptor, the bulky brown ships which serve a more support roll, in fact, the one Helo and Tyrol were talking in before they started fighting, not a Viper, which is their fighter wing. I think this was the first episode I caught parts of, because I remember being fascinated by the focus on the deck gang, something Star Trek NEVER did.

I'm glad you put it here. The extended version is on a whole other disc/DVD set, so it'd be a mighty swap. But since it sounds like it's all recorded, you guys doing okay after that episode? I think THAT is the moment all of us were nervous about. There's still dark stuff ahead, but that episode I think stands out in the whole show as particularily brutal. If you haven't given up reacting to the show after that, I think we'll mostly be "okay" for the rest.

Also, because I am a nerd, I have to point this out - When the Oxygen drops for Starbuck, Apollo and Hotdog they weren't laughing and acting silly because of the Nitrogen. The Nitrogen in the atmosphere is inert (N2 Molecule), there's almost 80% of it and we breathe it in and out and without any effect to our bodies (except pressure) - Laughing gas is Nitrous Oxide (N2O) which does affect us and is not found commonly on the atmosphere - They were actually starting to suffer from hypoxia, which is what happens when you don't have enough Oxygen in the body. Their bodies were still performing the act of breathing, but because the Oxygen was dropping, they were getting less and less of it in every breath, and more and more of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide, which is what was making them first get loopy and dazed before they were really struggling for breath and falling.

I'm not sure what to think of them intercutting Chief caressing the ship and Boomer, especially since a big question of the series is whether or not Cylons are "people" or objects.

Great reaction. I couldn't stop laughing at Kat's swearing when they were trying to load the after credits thing. Lol. I also enjoyed when my name was a character in a show. Travis Mayweather on Star Trek Enterprise. I guess Travis Junior in Reno 911 was alright. Beats only really hearing my first name in show/movie as Travis Bickle or whatever in Taxi Driver. Yikes.

One of the reasons they do the standard version is that in the past, when they have done the extended editions there were a lot of complaints that people didn't have that version. This is especially important in watch-alongs that they use the version that most people seem to have.
