It's time to chillax with another entertaining episode of BG! I wonder what zany shenanigans the crew have gotten themselves into this time.

This is the episode where I stopped watching BSG until the series end. Cally's end was just too cruel for me to take. Stretching it out only made her murder even more tortuous That said, as things transpired over time, Nicki's leaving the series probably turned out to be the best for all parties involved.

RIP Cally. I thought Nicki Cline did a very good job in the role. Conversely I was never really on board with Rekha Sharma's portrayal of Tory - always seemed too emotionally flat, especially post-cylon reveal, which sometimes (and especially in this final scene with Cally) felt really jarring. Like, can you show a little emotion in this moment??

Yeah, actress wanted out of the show to join her own cult. Roslin can't use the baby blood because the magic cure-all was from the FETAL bloodwork, not the actual baby's blood itself. Personally, I think Chief thinks that HE killed Cally. Being a sleeper Cylon who hurts those they love without even knowing has been his fear since Boomer was found out. Then he breaks Cally's jaw in a stupor cause of that anxiety. This is probably why he's been so distant with her since finding out, he doesn't want to hurt her. THEN she beats him upside the head with a wrench and knocks him out, next thing he's waking up to news that she's dead. He probably thinks she knocked him out, only for his Cylon programming to kick in and lash out at her. It's his literal worst fear realized. As for Starbuck, she says she's feeling a tenuous connection to her body at best - I'm pretty sure she wanted that angry sex with Anders just to feel grounded physically in her own body. I think that may have been the first time she's had sex since coming back. Clearly it was not as grounding as she hoped.

Saw bits and pieces. Better way to put it, just was no longer invested.The depressing nature of the series finally got to me. I will say after learning the reason for her exit, let me feel better about things.

Good call on Boomer. Yes, they're writing her into this very odd wishy-washy hole with the whole sleeper background as the main obvious justification. The reason you're noticing it now is that, by now, they were on notice to start tying up loose ends and needing to make use of her for… something… anything, down the line.

That's how I felt on the second watch in 2009 when I got the box set. I'm only watching it for a third time now. At least with the first run watch on Sky here in the UK you had the element of surprise, but second time was 'spin on, spin on'.

Welcome to the fucking slog that is early S4, where plots are being thrown at the wall to see what sticks, loose ends tied together with gaffer tape, and jury rigging that would make even Scotty wince. And occasionally, to use a wrestling term, creative has nothing for you. Boomer is a good example of the last point; they could have really ramped up the resentment that Athena was living the life that she had, but instead she's kinda a third wheel and (urg) Cavill's bit on the side. It feels like Tory took some of her writing when the character was hastily created to replace Billy. Speaking of haste, Cally was written out as yes Nikki Clyne married Alison Mack as part of the NXIVM cult. And let's give a shoutout to Cavill, you charismatic evil bastard you. He's basically OG Gaius!

I think Tory has quickly embraced her Cylon heritage, helped by the fact that she was basically a two faced bitch as a human.

Personally I think it makes sense. Most of the revealed Cylons are coping by repressing, but she's the only one leaning into what she is. And the more she does the more she unlocks - she's definitely stronger than she should be. She's losing touch with her humanity.
