So this episode got a fix in the edit. Initially, all those "empty Galactica" scenes were one long sequence, ending when Roslin was woken up in the Raptor by Helo. It threw the pacing way off, and I think it jumbled the character work a bit (a sloppy trademark of Espenson's 'writing for each scene' approach, IMO), but then they realized they could slip it in the moments between jumps and it works SO much better. It flows and adds to the haunting feeling if the episode.

Roslin suspected that Baltar had involvement in the attacks, as she remembered seeing him with Six before the attacks, as she was dying, but there's never been any confirmation. She just thought he had something to do with it, and in a way, thought he had since S1 when the that Shelley Godfrey tried tk accuse him of blowing up the Ministry if Defence - which he didn't actually do. But what we see here is finally admit, openly to the guilt he's been carrying this entire series, that's defined his character, actions and beliefs for so long. This is the reason he could truly believe in the spiritual things he says, because it absolves him of his guilt. He's just another flood. Also, the irony of you guys in one moment chiding Roslin for not trusting the Cylons, "there's no difference now, you have to trust one another," then in tbe next, not trusting Gaius at all. 🤣

Deanna faking out Roslin is one of my favourite moments in the series. And I think I said this already, but Baltar had a definite moment of epiphany in the episode where he gets shot up with truth serum by Adama/Roslin. They ask if he conspired with the Cylons to destroy humanity and even under the drugs he can say no. Because he didn't, not knowingly. Before then I think he always thought of himself as guilty, but that's the moment where he shifts into truly believing he did nothing wrong. The whole religious aspect becomes something to justify his actions and wipe away his guilt.

A weirdly paced episode that needed tightening up, but the pieces are all there: Gaius' confession, Roslyn's goalpost moving on her empathy, Head Elosha, weird Eight, Three not being the magic number for Brother Cavill and the bonus of that Giger-esque Hub design. The real star of the episode for me is the panicking Hybrid and the mesmerising performance of Tiffany Lyndall-Knight. How are Roslyn's 'subspace visions' linked to the base ship travelling at hyperlight speed? And did the Centurion learn anything from Gaius' ramblings? 👀 Also, RIP Aaliyah, RIP Sly Stone and fight the power, LA. ✊🏻
