Alrighty time to check in with our poll on what we should watch next! In the lead we have Blake's 7 and second up The Thick of It. I wanted to bring attention to some info that was conveyed to me and also discussed a little bit in our Discord channel:

It seems that Blake's 7 has been taken off of most (if not all) streaming sites making it difficult for accessibility for watch alongs here on Patreon. Obviously this is something we hugely want to take into consideration because if y'all can't watch along with us then what the heck is the point!? So I've decided to drop the poll to two options: Blake's 7 and The Thick of It.

Basically, if as a collective you all feel you have proper access to Blake's 7 to watch along with us you can secure your vote for it below. If this new information changes your mind and you'd like to vote for the runner up (The Thick of It) then you can do so now!

Thank you all as always for your support!

I voted for Blakes 7 initially but I'm not going to vote this time because it's not readilt available.

Malcolm Tucker wholeheartedly approves of this pro-democracy two-round voting system.

Blake’s 7 season 1 and 2 are for sale digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple and YouTube. They are the newly restored HD versions with the original effects. Next year season three is released and finally season four the following. The show is still apparently available on the US version of BritBox with all four seasons. Though I can’t confirm that. I know it’s not on the UK version of BB or ItvX. There are also the new Blue-ray releases in Hd with new special effects of seasons 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 coming in the future. And there’s the DVD box set of all four seasons available still on Amazon and EBay. So that’s currently the state. Wish it was still as available as it was a year ago. Think the HD releases on Blue-ray may have taken it off streaming for a bit. Hopefully will return.

I have never seen the thick of it, so I thought I would pick that. I tried to watch Blak's 7 as an adult (watched as a kid), and I really could not get into it now.

Karl Ward

Regrettably although Blakes 7 can be purchased on Apple TV and YouTube, only the first two seasons seem to be available. There were 4 seasons of 13 episodes available so I hope that eventually if all 4 are available, this option could be revisited?

Troy Convers

I've got S1 on BluRay. I've no interest in The thick of it. Yes Minister is the superior show about the British political system.

Colin 3of5

I've had a look around and I can only confirm what other patrons have said about availability.

originalmarquis

Vote for Blake's 7 due to me owning the DVD's, but can understand the availability thing for other patreons

Reading this makes me sad for other fans and glad I've been selectively buying physical media for years. I've no problem with Gallifrey Pals revisiting this when it's more available to other people.

LB2000

The digital versions for purchase are the newly restored HD versions with the original effects as found on the new Blu-rays. With all the special features, but not the updated effects. They are released digitally in tandem with the blu-rays. Season 3 and 4 will be available when the Blu-Rays are released. Next year will see season 3 and the year after season 4. They are available on Apple, YouTube and Amazon Prime. The old DVD SD transfers that were streaming on BritBox May still be on the Us version. But sadly have been removed from the uk streaming market - probably to encourage both physical and digital sales of the newly restored releases.

Jon Baker

I hope the Pals watch Blake's 7 at some point, and selfishly I hope it's now, but I have to appreciate it's kinda pointless if most people can't. Cross my fingers and hope :)

Malcolm Wolf

It was recently removed from the US version as well

rattusprat

Have the streaming sites fallen victim to Tucker's law?

Hell3Quin

I agree, I dont think it teaches anything about the System the way Yes Minister did, it's 'over the top' in a way that probably leads ppl to think that it's fun hyperboly when Malcolm is in fact a sanitised version of reality. All the clips I've seen are entertaining foul mouthedness but no actually menace beyond the verbal. Again, no lesson on how "These Truth Twisters" tm, really do things.

LB2000

Thanks for the clarification. It’s a shame they’ve removed it. Especially if it was to help drive sales of the new Blu-ray and HD digital releases as has been suggested. As I’m sure more people will buy if they could explore the series first.

Nick Willson

Would love you to watch Blake's 7 first but of course it's important that we are all able to watch with you - damn those greedy media companies lol

Paflad

Given the availability factors I guess Thick of It will romp home now, and while I'm a little sad about that I have to accept that I, however much I might like to think otherwise, am not the centre of the universe. I hope B7 gets another shot down the line though. It really is superb stuff.

Caitlin OB

As a fan of The Thick of It, I'd say The New Statesman also has a shot in the top few

Travis Boyle

I will go with Blake's 7. But I can see why it is better to do the other choice because of availability. Hopefully Blake's 7 sometime in the future

Firefly24601

Blakes 7 is not available on BritBox US, unfortunately.

Troy Convers

At some point, Father Ted. Yeah yeah Linehan's an utter c**t, but the series deserves to live on past it's creator.

Can I recommend a one-shot movie for you to react to? Gosford Park. 2001. Check out the cast list. Set in the 1930s, a murder occurs during a long weekend at a manor house. Written by Julian Fellowes before he created Downton Abbey (this movie is way better).
