Dan Williams

But like Doctor Who in the Family Of Blood, if Q hadn't moved Picard through time, would Picard have gone to the Devron System?

Dan Williams

Congrats on making it to the end. May your fandom live long and prosper.

Jonathan Emery

I love Lower Decks. I hope you guys eventually watch Star Trek Voyager. I think Kat would like it 👍🏻

Christopher Hayes

I would much rather see you do the movies than Picard.

Mike Connaghan

Yes, we're all going to die. BUT! We have candy!

Ian Murray

Congratulations on your journey. Great reaction. The poker scene always makes me teary eyed. If you're considering another Trek through the stars, even in your personal time, Lower Decks is an absolute joy.

Darren

Still the best Trek finale...

John Welch

Wait a second...according to my patreon app on iphone Gallifrey girls has 1147 members. Is that number wrong or are we going to get all the promised reactions???

Mark Chrisco

What a journey this has been and I feel so privileged to have taken it with you both. As for Picard the series, I cannot recommend the first two seasons, but, season three's 10 episodes are nothing less then a love letter to The Next Generation and a magnificent and satisfying coda to that series and well worth your time.

Mark Ten

What Picard did on Beverly's deck was one of the most serious infractions you can do aboard any ship, undermine the Captain's authority and was out of character for him as a professional officer., even a former admiral. She had the right to have him sent to the brig under armed escort

Brendon Waldron

This is such a great finale, but it does have a major advantage over other finales, they didn't really need to wrap up much, the show could have come back for season 8 right after this, but that's what makes tying it into the first episode work so well, it finishes that chapter while still leaving room for more stories and interesting directions. I knew it was gonna be Lower Decks!

Time Lord

So for some people it shows and others it doesn't for some reason, but we have 1147 members but 900 paid members. Recently they updated it and people who were "following" a patreon so they could be notified about posts that maybe they would want to join for are now considered "free members." It now tallies those numbers all together even though technically we're only at 900. So we have another 1000 to go, but we promise to keep y'all updated! - Kat

Brendon Waldron

Season 3 of Picard might be the best of the three, but it's still terrible fan fiction from a hack writer.

Bruce Bromley

I believe it lumps the paid members with the ones that just follow the page. We just need those that only follow to chip in six bucks each. 😁

Matt O'Keefe

In my opinion, the ending felt perfect. I graduated high school this same year so it felt wonderful. The first movie came out in the fall of this year(1994) too. I went with my new college friends. We had fun.

Joe Concepts

I feel there was much less pressure for them to end the show knowing that the movies starring this crew were on the way. Even at the time we all knew a movie was in the works.

Joe Concepts

On some level, while I liked most of the movies, and Picard was mostly okay, I still feel like it wouldn't have been so bad if THIS was the last we saw of them all.

Alexander Caldwell

I do have to agree as far as the overall Trek franchise goes (and TV finales in general); however, the DS9 finale was, for me, more impactful personally, because I followed that series more closely during its original run (I started watching it in earnest in season 3 in '94-'95; I didn't start regularly following TNG until season 5 in '91-'92). I was also a bit older when it ended (high school), and the plots and character arcs from DS9 stuck with me more. I'm sure everyone has their own feelings about which series ending meant more to them (except the OG TOS fans, since they technically didn't get a proper finale until STVI came out over 20 years after their show ended; poor souls).

Joe Concepts

Aw, you have to watch Nemesis, even if it's just on your own and not on the channel. Granted, as a huge fan I think I only watched it once, but I watch all of these things because I just want to see what they do with the characters.

dhollanda

Whatever you watch, I will follow. It is always a pleasure. :-)

Bruce Bromley

Even nearly 30 years later the ending at the poker game still gets to me. To me this is one of the best series finales to an hour long show, with the other being MASH. The worse and most depressing to me was the end of Quantum Leap. Now on to the TNG films which in my opinion, are a mixed bag. 'Picard' more then makes up for them, If you do chose to watch or react to it in the future, one pro is that the series is only 30 episodes. So is BG next or do you have something else up you sleaves?

Peter

In the last scene with Q when he leans forward to whisper in Picard's ear, I was almost expecting him to say 'spoilers, sweetie' despite the fact I knew he doesn't.

TuneIntoSanityFM

What a finale! It all builds up to emphasising humanity's Inner journey. That "Exactly" from Q was so satisfying. One thing is missing though.. What was Guinan's relationship with Q all about? I guess we'll never know, but fun to speculate about!

Nolan

Ehh, the Picard show. Even S3 from what I saw did not change all the main issues I had with that show in the first two seasons. It just doused it all in syrupy nostalgia, but kept the dimly lit sets, darker colour palette, overly sassy, slangy, confrontational and toxic dialogue and dour outlook on the future. If you like these characters as they are and have been these last seven seasons (and into the movies you'll watch) then do yourself a favor and avoid that show like the plague. You'll probably just end up depressed, disappointed and angry. Plus, the whole show has references to the other shows following TNG, a character from Voyager is prominent, and S3 of Picard is built around a villain from DS9 (that show again) And I like DS9 for pushing the Trek boundaries, but I feel whole-hardheartedly Picard breaks them in a bad way. Actually Kat, Futurama no longer ends with a time loop. (Personally I never liked that theory myself cause it doesn't make sense to me with the show starting 1000 years prior to it's main setting and I just never liked "Meanwhile" as a series finale, but whatever) Disney+ ordered another season of Futurama that has already been produced and is streaming, with another season incoming. As for this episode, I always think of the reason Doc Brown gives for why he built the time machine in Back to the Future: "The intent here is to gain a clearer perception of humanity. Where we've been, where we're going, the pitfalls and the possibilities, the perils and the promise." That is exactly what "All Good Things..." does. It's also a bit of Trek's take on "A Christmas Carol" where curmudgeon Picard is guided through his past, present and future by a benevolent(ish) spirit in the form of Q. It's probably such a satisfying finale because it is all at once retrospective, introspective, forward thinking and appreciative of the journey of the characters while promising things will go on. Personally, I like to think of the events of the episode as all being Q testing Picard, both on a macro and micro scale. To that end, I always believed that the "irumodic Syndrome" raised in this episode is not actually a part of Picard's story beyond this point, but just another part of Q's test scenario. The episode ends on a hopeful note, not one of, "Hey, you've got a potential brain defect." which I think would undermine the story told. Honestly, out of all the shows, and the 5 shows of the "classic" era, this is still the best finale. Maybe tied with Star Trek 6 for the original crew. DS9's a little further back. It was still satisfying, but is held back by some issues. Voyager's was disappointing spectacle and Enterprise's was, well, kinda a disservice to the show. But this one, it stands the test of time, ba-dum tish.

Makhiel

o7 it's been an honor trekking with you, Gals. (And I can't wait for you to watch Lower Decks)

Jay Fleming

I just love how Q's words really sum up perfectly why we need science fiction in our lives. It helps us grow, and change, and consider new possibilities. It challenges us to accept each others differences, and embrace the diversity of our fellow beings on this planet and who knows... maybe beyond. The adventure of life, no matter how brief or difficult is all about exploration, and we should never stop dreaming, telling each other stories about what could be, because we are the stuff stars are made of, and it's all part of the amazing adventure we all share. Thank you for taking us on your TNG journey ladies! It's been a blast!

Robert Hutchinson

It's a shame that they cut out part of the final Q scene while getting the finale to fit into two episode slots. (Picard sincerely thanks Q for helping him to save humanity; Q says he's the one who got him into the mess, on orders from the Q Continuum, but that having Picard shift time periods was also his idea.)

Kirk Deighton

Such a great show. Thanks for taking us along with you.

Vina

I think this copy of All Good Things was had some shots cut. For instance in the scene when S1 Troi is talking to Picard in his quarters about the crew being weary of his erratic orders, right after the talk with S1 Riker, she then informs Picard of her prior relationship with Riker; this wasn't in your copy :( I don't think you missed a lot but wanted you to know! Edit: Ok, this is just a difference between the version divided up into two parts (Hulu and Amazon have this version) vs the full 2-hour singular episode (which Paramount+ has). Apparently most or all of the two-parter episodes are cut like that Anyway, I loved this series and I rewatch it from time to time - same with DS9 but TNG is more like comfort food to me, it's just nice to watch casually! As for Star Trek: Picard, it's up to you if you want to watch S1 and S2 but I've personally always been a completionist when it comes to Trek, and stick through what I didn't like regardless, so I can better know all the lore, and better reflect on the episodes and how they connect with each other.

Mike

Super excited for the movies and Lower Decks! I was late to Lower Decks, but now I've watched it I wish I hadn't waited so long! I can take of leave Star Trek Picard but if you did watch it I'd be happy to rewatch with you.

Paul Flux

I remember watching this when it first aired. I thought it was a really good way to end the show. Like you say, it was clever to link it back with the first episode. But I also knew that this was the end of an era; the quality of the actors and their friendship and comeradery with more than their fair share of good scripts. All Good Things, indeed! After this I slowly drifted away from Trek. I never got on with DS9 (I thought Babylon 5 was a much better take on the diplomatic station setting) and I dipped in and out of Voyager, but it never grabbed me as much as TNG. The movies seemed to slide in quality and drift further and further from Roddenberry's vision. Don't worry I'm not about to leave your Patreon, I'm here for your Doctor Who and Red Dwarf reactions, and everything else is a bonus!

Pranav Gulukota

In my own opinion, Star Trek Picard isn’t worth watching. Voyager is quite good and First Contact is a great movie.

Paul Flux

In terms of other shows with memorable endings; Buffy was OK but seemed a bit of a cop-out compared to the Season 5 finale. I liked Lucifer's finale, although I know it wasn't to everyone's taste. GoT was of course a disappointment. Babylon 5 drew everything to a good conclusion at the end of Season 4, but then they got extended by another season, and struggled for material. Of course many sci-fi & fantasy shows just stop when they don't get renewed, so I guess any show that gets to do a proper narrative ending is a bonus. As a Brit of a certain age, the endings of Blakes 7 and Blackadder are unforgettable! The original UK House of Cards ended boldly too. By comparison the endings of many American shows seem a bit saccharine and sentimental to me, although judging by Killing Eve and Peaky Blinders, British TV writers may be loosing their nerve for narratively satisfying conclusions!

Kyle Hudson

Re: the episode title, you might have been thinking of "Journey's End", which is actually the name of an episode earlier in season 7 (the one with Wesley) but is also the title of a 1-hour documentary/retrospective on the series hosted by Jonathan Frakes which aired right before the movie-length "All Good Things". It's on Netflix as "Star Trek Next Generation Retrospective" right at the end of S7. Might be a fun extra thing to react to!

Kane Is Able

Kat, this isn't the end. You have 4 movies to watch, and despite all of the negative comments, all 4 are worth watching and have great stories. I truly hope you get excited for all four.

Kane Is Able

I guess I'm the guy you're making fun of, but I truly don't understand why you would watch Lower Decks without watching the other Star Trek shows first. I truly don't understand it, and I don't understand why the Lower Decks fanatics recommend it without putting in the work that makes it good. Yes, of course you can watch it, but it literally incorporates characters, plot points, callbacks, that will spoil other shows and just plain not make sense, and it's those call backs and references why people love Lower Decks. I've said my peace, and I guess the Lower Decks fanatics and you two can make fun of me.

Chris Bordeman

The first two seasons are so spectacularly horrible, they'll totally destroy your image of TNG, if not Captain Picard himself. He was given near total artistic control, and holy god that was a terrrrible decision. I swear to god, you'll hate yourself and Patrick Steward. You don't even need to read a synopsis, it's such an abortion you could die. Literally die. In season 3, they took back creative control from Stewart and gave it to actual writers and made the final season of TNG that you didn't know you wanted!

Mr

I like how it ended with picard taking Q's advise and doing something he would never do. playing cards with the crew and exploring the possibilities of reality.

B. Joseph

No chance for reactions to Strange New Worlds? The good thing (or bad thing based on how you see it) about many of these new shows are the episode lengths. STW is only 10 episodes a season. You could watch all the episodes available and it still be less than 1 season of TNG.

Red Claw

Seeing Picard isn't going to do it, when you haven't seen Voyager. It's a necessary watch for Picard.

Thontor

I'm really excited to see your reactions to Lower Decks. I have a feeling you are going to love it.

Ryan George

I know I say this a lot but 3rd season of Picard isn’t horrible definitely recommend! Not going to lie I hated the first two seasons but the last one did it for me

Ryan George

Lower decks is hilarious!

Joshua Langweil

just now There aren’t that many episodes of Picard. It’s not like a 26 episode season. You gals should watch. I’d gladly contribute extra to watch your reactions to that. I also hope you watch the movies soon. This brought me back to 1884. I would have killed to have this much more next gen related content back then. It was such an empty feeling.

Joshua Langweil

There is a scene in Picard season 3 that is my favorite next gen moment of all time. Including the entire series and movies. So yes, you need to watch it. Sooner the better. But you need to watch the movies first. Pretty please?!

Jay S

To me this is the "Return of the Jedi" of Star Trek, the perfect ending and way to say goodbye to a beloved cast. Sure there is some good in-universe stuff that comes after it, but nothing tops this. Congrats on making it all the way to the finish line!

Chris Lane

I love this 2 part finale and IMO it is better than at least 2 of the movies. Regarding the Picard series, Season 3 is amazing. I agree with the DO NOT WATCH Season 1 and 2...they're so bad. Season 3 is like entirely on its own with practically nothing related to the previous seasons (thankfully).

Joshua Langweil

Don’t agree. The movies are more important as prior Picard viewing.

Artemis Zeidman

I wouldn’t want to inflict the last two TNG movies on Kat. The TNG journey should have ended after First Contact.

Anthony Hernandez

It’s really been fun to rewatch this series with you 2 gals. I always enjoy seeing how much you enjoy the camaraderie and mutual respect among the crew, which isn’t in every show. You two wear your emotions on your sleeves and are willing to share it with others, and we love it! Thanks and I’m excited to see what’s next for you two!!

Arek Schneyer

The music at the end of the episode is my mother's favorite music in TNG. It first appeared in S3E25 Transfigurations- with the rescued alien who is evolving into a higher life form, with the golden light. That's the music that plays when he changes, and I think that's kind of fitting for the end of this show.

Mark Chrisco

One last funny story. While filming the last season, Michael Dorn made clear he was glad the series was ending, being sick of the hours of makeup. To everyone's surprise, he was the only actor to become emotional and tear up when the director called cut for the last filmed scene during the poker game.

Nolan

Lol, I didn't get to finish your discussion before work, but managed to write a whole huge comment. And now here's another. And even though I know I already went on a rant about the Picard series, you're conversation of his character being able to accept being wrong, made me crystalize why I just haven't been on board with New Star Trek beyond all the stuff I mention. And it's that, at the end of the day, for me Star Trek is all about being Aspirational. It's showing us something to aspire to. Now it's not always right or a bit off, but the way it presents itself and its characters and how they interact and deal with problems has always been done in a way to teach by example, not by lecture. To give the audience an image of how to act in certain scenarios and maintain diplomacy during emotional times and rise above, so that the audience can take that image and live it out. New Star Trek is NOT that. it is more concerned with being RELATABLE. Of trying to gain sympathy of the audience by giving us characters we can understand because they are not ideal. And then lecturing about what it is assumed we don't Therefore the characters have a lest idealistic base, are allowed to be flawed and are drawn more for modern day behaviour than in the previous era. And I'm sorry, but that is just NOT why I watch Star Trek. It's why I like BSG, but even then, New Star Trek doesn't hold a candle to BSG IMO. I mean, I guess that makes me a "Hater" of the new stuff, but when producers take everything I like about something, throw it out and replace it with everything I don't like about modern television production (and no, not it being "too liberal/woke" BS arguments) I'm am probably gonna fucking hate that and be salty about it. Sorrynotsorry. (If you can't tell, I'm glad you still have Red Dwarf and are starting BSG, cause that means I get to stick around, lol)

Chrissonator

The archive footage of Riker was from the episode The Arsenal of Freedom, where Riker was interrogating the fake version of Paul Rice.

Travis Boyle

Probably my favorite series finale. Probably Newhart is up there as well for a sitcom. Remember watching this on City TV in Canada at the time and they had a watch party at Skydome and 40,000 people watched it on the JumboTron. I like DS9 but I can understand not wanting to spend 4 years watching something again. Can't wait to see the movies. Glad Get Warped is continuing with Lower Decks. Personally I'd sooner see you Gals react to stuff both of you haven't watched. Like Red Dwarf has been fun. Love to see Star Trek Strange New Worlds eventually. Two episodes in Season 2 in particular. Star Trek Prodigy was also fantastic. Mostly carries over from Voyager but does have a return of a couple TNG characters I thought I would never see again. But I know you have limited time. Just a warm and fuzzy feeling reaction video all around. Thanks Gallifrey Gals. Oh almost forgot a Tribbles sighting. Yay. Just don't let them get into the Skittles.

Travis Boyle

Hopefully eventually Strange New Worlds will be on Get Warped. Such a fun show.

Christian Rennie

Hurray, we made it! This ride was a ton of fun! I find myself revisiting some of my favorite episodes everyone once in a while and find myself watching along with you both. Thanks for this! On a different note, did you watch an edited version of the episodes? I think the split up version of two episodes has omitted some scenes. In the continuous episode there are a few scenes included that aren't we watched. Why would they cut parts out after release?

Sebastian Bodine

Yeah, I was thrown for a loop when I didn't hear Worf say "You always used my sense of honor to get what you want from me!"

Sebastian Bodine

"If we get to 1000 Patreons, we'll start reacting to Picard" Thank you for the ultimatum, I'll do what I can to prevent it

Sebastian Bodine

Sorry, but it's 1 great story, 2 hard slaps to the face, and one pure filler film (definitely not in that order)

Sebastian Bodine

I'm proud to be that guy that demands a higher standard, so I have no guilt or remorse when I say that I despise any and all Trek past 2010. Enterprise eventually got good. The first JJ Abrams Trek was mostly harmless fun. But goddamn do I hate what a wasted opportunity the franchise could have been if the producers were forced to stay within the established canon and tone to develop more well thought out shows to expand on the story already set in place. Just imagine how good Star Trek would be if the writers and producers built shows around ideas like if the Romulans got a hold of THAT personal log by Sisko, or decided to have Jake Sisko interview former Borg and families of victims of the battle of Wolf 359 or if Moriarty finds out he's been tricked for decades in a simulation, but reality is now fully accessible to hologrammatic people. It just makes me sick that we live in a capitalist system where great works are inherited to a bunch of inhuman board members ready to chase the latest trends for a junkie fix of greater profit margins for people who don't need money and probably would think more clearly without it. I'll get off my soap box now, but Star Trek, Star Trek, and Doctor Who were my favorite things and it just hurts to see what's happened to them because they were in the wrong hands

Locoturbo

It's been a great ride watching you guys get through TNG. Here's hoping for DS9 "someday" :) In the meantime I am super excited for BSG!!

Keith Goodnight

I've only seen the 2-hour version before. I can't help noticing as the Gals watch the split version that it's more than just dividing up the story into two parts: the edit is a bit different. There are a couple of camera angles in certain scenes that are not the same, and there's a whole additional scene between future Picard and Q that's missing from the split version.

Kane Is Able

And go on to continue to play Worf for 4 more seasons on DS9.

Kane Is Able

I just don't understand everybody wanting them to rush to Picard and Lower Decks, before watching DS9 and Voyager. These shows are fun because of all the callbacks and connections to the other shows from 30 years ago. It makes no sense to me.

Kane Is Able

That's not true at all, but I'm fighting a losing fight. Everybody wants them to skip straight to Picard and Lower Decks without putting the work in by watching VOY and DS9. The callbacks and connections are what make those shows.

Kane Is Able

If you know all of the references. I don't understand watching it before watching VOY and DS9.

Kane Is Able

Watching Lower Decks doesn't make sense either without watching VOY and DS9, but too many people want to see a reaction. I guess I'm alone in recommending putting in the work first.

Kane Is Able

I don't understand doing it out of order.

Joel Featherstone

I've loved watching TNG over again with you both. It even helped get me to sit down with my partner for her to watch it for the first time. I hadn't seen this episode as two parts before so I hadn't realised how much was cut for time. It's sad that a lot was missed but I'm grateful for all the work you've both put into your reactions. Still lots of other reasons to stick around as a patron too. See you out there!

JXTN

I just want to say what a joy it has been to re-experience show with you. Because of it's ethical, principled and explorative drive, I have always considered this one of the most important shows ever made, and I love it dearly. But I have managed to get even more out of it through you, and your appreciation for the show and it's nature. Many episodes I didn't care for, I gained a new appreciation for, and many episodes I loved, I somehow managed to love even more.

Josef Schiltz

I thought I recognized it. I've just been watching the Gals reaction to the episode. That must have taken some sorting through to find the right Riker moment from the first season that wouldn't look out of place at Farpoint!

Josef Schiltz

All things considered; fantastic! Just got to wait for Santa to bring the next reaction. I happen to know he'll be along from Farpoint in a jiff ! Warp factor ten!

Joshua Langweil

Just because it’d take several years to get through. I want to see the full next gen experience finished.

Guts

You can judge the atrocity that is Discovery now as well. xD

Dr Q Who

Yes I reckon Voyager would be well loved.

Josef Schiltz

Just went back to the Season 1 reactions and watched Hide and Q and the Ready Room scene between Jean-Luc and Q. Picard: "Oh! I know Hamlet, and what he might say with irony, I say with conviction! What a piece of work is a man, How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, In form and moving how express and admirable, In action how like an Angel, In apprehension how like a god!" Q really missed an opportunity for a retort there, because he could have responded: Q: " But, was it not your own countryman, Michel Eyquem, Seigneur de Montaigne, who said, Who have persuaded man that this admirable moving of heavens vaults, that the eternal light of these lampes so fiercely rowling over his head, that the horror-moving and continuall motion of this infinite vaste ocean were established, and continue so many ages for his commoditie and service? Is it possible to imagine so ridiculous as this miserable and wretched creature, which is not so much as master of himselfe, exposed and subject to offences of all things, and yet dareth call himself Master and Emperor!" Picard: "Merde!"

Christopher Hayes

I completely agree. Anything after star trek 2009 isn't good to me.

Bret Kay

Just so you know, Star Trek: Picard and all of the new series are only 10 episodes per season. They're much shorter than the old shows. Star Trek: Picard Season 3 pretty much stands on it's own. They jettisoned almost everything from Season 1 & 2 and turned the season into a send off for all of the TNG shows, including DS9 and Voyager.

Chrono Gamer

It's so cool to have followed these reactions through the whole show. Your insights and commentary have been very interesting to me as a longtime TNG fan. Congrats on getting to the end. I am looking forward to what comes next.

Gerald Leung

I thought I'd avail myself of the ability to comment on these now (and learn this is one of those platforms where hitting enter sends). 1) I love you two having your own opinions. They don't need to be the same as the rest of ours, whether that's a majority of fan sentiment or not. True fans appreciate new people watching the series and franchise for the first time and falling in love with it. 2) It doesn't matter whether I or the rest of us love that you have your own opinions and reactions. That's always your right and privilege, to have thoughts and opinions about anything you watch, because you bring your own life experiences, and reactions, and engagement to the show, the same as the rest of us did. So I'm glad you don't apologize for having them, and that you haven't let negative comments over the years (or undiplomatic ones) put you off from this entire journey.

Ryan Fisher

Catching up to this one nine months after the fact. May have spit out coffee when you offered to watch the movies and Picard with 1,000 patrons and you’re sitting at 1,600 as I write this. 😂. Very nicely done. I’ve bounced around episodes, and you nail the emotional reaction of an amazing series with not giving an inch on anything close to “well it was written in a different time.” You would be amazed by how strong Deep Space Nine is, whenever you hit 10,000. Thanks again!

Time Lord

I wish I could say we were actually at 1000 patrons, but unfortunately we are not as of yet! Patreon now shows the free members and paid members as one number, which makes it sort of difficult for us to show a "goal to reach" but here's hoping we can hit that someday!! So happy you were able to come catch up on the older stuff and hopefully you enjoy our Lower Decks shenanigans as well! - Kat

Ryan Fisher

I was so excited for you for growing so much so fast! :) I’ve supported a few first watch channels and you both do an amazing job. I’ll definitely make my way over there.

Ryan Fisher

Oh forgot to mention, it looks like you were watching the two episode version of the finale which was edited for the previously tag. At least two scenes jumped out at me that you missed, an extended scene with Picard and Worf in the future, and more importantly, Picard thanking Q at the end who reluctantly admitted that even though he got Picard into this mess, it was his idea to help Picard get out of it. It totally changes the tone of the ending. :)
