Misheard Paula saying "We're both nudes" and I was like "Well, this is a very special reaction of Red Dwarf *indeed*."

Raven Stromdans

I've said it before and I'll probably say it a dozen times before Kat and Paula get to the end of the show...but I love seeing these episodes anew through their eyes. It's as close as I'll ever get to seeing the show for the first time again and I can't thank the Gallifrey Gals enough for giving us this gift of inviting us along for the ride.

I am so hyped to see the reactions to the rest of this series. The other two episodes are also incredible

I'm so happy you both love this show so much. Watching it is like bumping into an old friend. Someone on tumblr commented that this show is lightning in a bottle and I totally agree, it's unique and brilliant! You've probably seen it by now but I'm so looking forward to your reaction to next week's episode!!

Such a fun time watching you gals react to this. And I love the post episode discussion where you espouse your love for this show. We are soooo happy you gals found this show and are sticking with it! I first stumbled upon this show in the United States when I was 8 or 9 during a Red Dwarf marathon on the public access channel. For the longest time, the only way to watch a new Red Dwarf series' or catch up on older episodes you might not have ever seen before was to stumble upon a Red Dward marathon, of which the public access channel ran them 1-2x per year during the hey days of Red Dwarf. Red Dwarf was the first piece of media I ever encountered where I remember being so sold on the creative forces behind the show, that I never felt anything but pure excitement while anticipating the release of each new series. Eventually, the show has a few miss steps, and never quite reaches its peaks again. But I am quite confident that even the worst weakest episodes of Red Dwarf are sure to feel like a fresh and fun experience with you two gals reacting to them. In my opinion, season (1), and some of the later seasons (7) (9) (11) (12) hold claim to some of all time weakest episodes of Red Dwarf, and people even disagree on this topic quite often. Rest assured there is still a lot more fun and excitement to be had.

Oh, and thanks for wearing the hot dog & rainbow stripes shirts again. I bought a new monitor and needed to adjust the color settings.

I used to watch this show with my friend's kids when they were young. Years later on my birthday they called me up and sang "Its cold outside" instead of happy birthday. I was hoping for new car, but it was a pretty good birthday present.

Jacob Shepley

If no one told you two, the actor who played the Toaster this episode was the original Kryten. He was busy to come back as Kryten so David Ross came back as Talkie haha

Mike Connaghan

I feel like I've seen this reaction before.

In regards to Lister's Cigarette, I think hes putting it behind his ear, not inside it. Still not hygenic but not likely to get covered in ear wax.

Hi girls :) I just wanted to say it's been wonderful re-living Red Dwarf with you both. I'm nearly 50 years old. I was a super big Dwarfer back in the day, and bought all the video cassettes (and yes, then again on DVD!). Back in those days, the internet wasn't really a thing but I was online with Compuserve and joined a Red Dwarf fan club and read a post where they were giving away tickets to watch the show live as it was being recorded (yes, they were recorded live in front of an audience). I took a couple of work friends with me. It was recorded in a studio in Staines, England. The ticket said strictly no admittance after 7PM. We drove there, but there was unbelievable traffic, and we were delayed by 2 hours, we got to the studio doors at 7:02, and security wouldn't let us in. We were devastated!! Unbelievably at this point, Craig Charles was walking towards the door on his way in, and we asked him if we could go in with him. He said "of course you can lads" - security couldn't say anything at that point - it was obvious that filming hadn't started as 'Lister' wasn't there! When we got in the studio, Craig got us seats right at the front. Such an amazing person! It's super interesting seeing how they recorded the show. In between scenes, Craig did some improv/stand up comedy to keep the audience entertained. I'm not going to say which episode I watched as it will give away something that happens in the storyline going forward, but one thing I will say is that sometime soon there is a 2-part episode where we had to wait 4 YEARS for the second part!. Glad you are enjoying the show as much as I have over the years. All the best to both of you :)

Also in the opening credits the model crashes are from season 3 so you have seen them but not in the current run

DOSGamerMan

I love that episode. I still say "So, its decided then, we consult holly" when reaching a group decision.

Bill

Talk about a bottle episode. It didn't even happen in the continuity. XD

I remembered the "playing pool with planets" part being way longer than it actually was. Maybe I'm thinking of the books. If I remember correctly, several random episodes were greatly expanded upon in the first two books, such as this one, The End and Better Than Life, probably Kryten as well. Can't believe it's been 30 years since I read them! It is bonkers how unpredictable the plots are. I think maybe that settles down in series 5 and 6 and once you grasp what the premise of each episode is, the plot flows a bit more naturally towards the climax without a random left turn every 5 minutes. I'm probably wrong though. You might laugh even more at Red Dwarf if and when you rewatch it, because then you can just focus on the comedy without having to try and follow the insane plots.

pbaker

There’s a great story on the series 4 behind the scenes about this episode and a certain short tempered producer coming back after the director unexpectedly got sick and had to miss recording.

This is a BLUE alert! I repeat a BLUE alert next week is "Dimension Jump" Everybody start smoking your Kippers!

If you have Amazon alexa ask it if you would like any toast, you will love the reply

I loved your reactions to the last ever episode of Red Dwa......Oh wait a minute, I've missed all the reactions in between 😲😬

Regarding getting past the algorithm I notice that pausing and commenting intermittently really helps for a few channels I follow. Is this something you have considered?

tal goren

this was something they did back when they were watching together. now that they are talking through zoom, it is more complicated because they have to keep their seperate episode recording in sync.

Wade Wallenstein

I love Talkie Toaster! In the second novel, Better Than Life, it is explained that Talkie Toaster was bought by Lister at a souvenir shop on Miranda for the princely sum of $£19.99 (DollarPounds) plus tax. It was not fitted with a Silicon Heaven belief chip to keep the price down, and therefore had no concept of an afterlife, or even right and wrong. I'm so happy you're enjoying it and spreading the joy of it!
