Thee are too many menus in RPG Maker and you have to click through like 5 menus to do anything so I am building a GUI so common actions can be done from the main screen. Spent 2 days getting the menus working. Now, the seeds you collect and Tools appear on the screen edges. You can click seeds to plant and switch tools by clicking. I've also changed all text boxes into pop-ups so actions and information don't interrupt gameplay.

Then, I spent 5 days trying to figure out why glitches are happening. I have to read through hundreds of online discussions about the plugins I'm using, and get custom debug scripts to fix anything... First the GUI images wouldn't update, so I added in code to fix that. Then, the images would update properly but not on a saved game. When I fixed that, the loaded games would start with all images on the screen until you open and close the menu. Fixed that, then the game would DRAW THE SCREEN UPSIDE_DOWN... What? Seriously? Other times, the game randomly fades the screen out for a second, and the player gets stuck randomly on normal tiles, or uses incorrect NPC images for events...

fuck you Rpgmaker...

5 days bug-fixing and every fix just causes something else to break. At this point I'm wondering if this is even worth the trouble. I haven't even STARTED the fucking game yet. This is just the setup stages... and 80% of my time is BUG_FIXING? I could code my own game from scratch with less bugs...

Yes, I know every glitch is likely some plug-in conflict because the base game runs fine, but without the plugins there is no point. I don't want to create another generic look-alike game. And, so far I'm only using like 10 YEP plugins and 3 others. That's not even 10% of what I will need to change to make this game unique... and already the game is buggier than a swamp.

To avoid throwing my computer out the window, I'm taking a week off from rpgmaker to re-evaluate what I'm even doing here.
