Working on Snow Bound again (Patreon)
Content
I did upload Shipwreck Bay v.0.07 for Patrons to play since I will not be progressing further with it. https://www.patreon.com/posts/28889504But, be warned it's not a game at all, just some half-working ideas, and there are glitches everywhere... Even glitches I spent all week fixing somehow got broken again while I was uploading the game to Newgrounds... Fu**ing AMAZING... I will likely never return to plugin-dependent RPG Maker as a serious game development platform again.
After spending 5 days trying to fix bugs in RPG Maker, the "snow-depth" problem in Snow Bound seemed laughably easy to fix... So, I did. Now, the player walking speed matches the snow depth, paths are always full speed walking, and entering/leaving deep snow switches speeds in the middle so it looks and feels correct. I also got the Inventory started. You can pick up items and it populates your inventory. Here's an image in-game:
Likely you will start the game with only your coat pockets holding 1 of each item until you craft the satchel. This satchel can only hold 3 of each item. Might have higher capacity backpack later. Edible items will be inside, crafted items will appear around the satchel edges, and tools will be off to the edges of the screen, until eventually all open space will be filled. (similar to "The Forest" inventory system, just far more simplistic) I might leave the foreground area open for the crafting area. Eating should be hover-over and click.
I will be working on Snow Bound from now on. Maybe, it was good to have all these problems with RPG Maker, as it made me realize how worthwhile it is to spend the extra time coding everything from scratch. Time will tell.
