And so the book Away with the Faeries will be about these two - Burden and Tom - falling in love. Burden truly is like Ariel, fascinated by the human world and finding all the extremely normal things Tom does absolutely beautiful and unique and wonderful. Tom on the other hand, resents growing up in this small town and working in his parent's hippie shop. He is struggling with coming out and wants to wait until he moves to the city in order to be "himself". But in falling in love with this strange boy, he falls in love with his home. He's not wrong to wish for a change, and to find his people, but maybe he shouldn't be so dismissive of these small town ways.
