Keep banging the rocks together guys! Time Team on C4 was the perfect fit to fill the void for the keen and interested archaeology fan who had been denied the opportunity for digging when PPG16 was implemented in 1990. I remember the opposition and discussion whenever two diggers would meet, but you stuck with it and made it work. Thank you so much Tim Taylor, MBE! ❤️

Chris Sherlock

Congratulations Tim, you have created, with Mick, Tony and others, something that many find joy and comfort in. We thank you and the MBE, is deserved.

Mark Lund

What a hero! Congratulations Mr Taylor MBE. When I think of some 'sports' people with 5 mins in the limelight, (Darts for instance) given honours, it is high time the pleasure you have given to so many for so many years is recognised. Long may you continue, and it seems you have no intention of stopping. Thanks again to you and The Team.

Alun Rees

Should have been a knighthood!!

JUDITH COOKE

YAY !!!! Congratulations, Tim MBE. So delighted that you have been recognised. Wonderful to have the story of archaeology and Time Team acknowledged in this way. We know all the hard work and commitment that has taken place behind the scenes over many years and celebrate being part of this fantastic community.

Alan McMillan

Very well done! Congratulations, Mr MBE!

Orla Levy

Congratulations. Well deserved. Thank you for your contribution to archeology and heritage. ❤️

Gail Elizabeth England

Bravo! Congratulations Tim and by extension all those who have done so much to promote archaeology!

Peter Horsam

Congratulations! You've become a documented piece of history yourself!

Stephen Walls

Congratulations Tim and all who have been involved with Time Team over the years.

steve

Congrats to Tim and the team as well.

Dorothy Africa

For us American patreons, MBE is Master of the British Empire isn't it?

Wessex-Wyvern

Great podcast, and congratulations to Tim and all at Time Team. I too find it hard to grasp the timescales between the start of the palaeolithic period and historic times. Time Signs, that Tim alluded to as the forerunner of Time Team, is somewhere on YouTube. It's definitely still worth watching. I wonder if it can be included in Time Team Classics somehow.

Alana Tolstad

This was a great listen! I too am looking forward to photos!

Robin Smith

I’m so pleased you honored the memory of Mick. What a treasure he was. He’ll live on for all of us that so loved and respected him. Congratulations to all who contributed to archeology to this point. You go Helen! Get on that soap box!

Irene Daly

You hit upon a great idea Tim. Let’s get the team into schools. You can all tell exciting stories about how our incredible history is literally under our student’s feet. Just a few inches below the surface sometimes.

Carrie S

Member of the Order of the British Empire. Below CBE (Commander) and OBE (Officer) in order of prestige.

Edward Rooks

Congratulations Time Team Tim! You, Mick and your team helped me get through the Covid epidemic with my peace of mind in tact. I am grateful for your contribution to archaeology and to informative entertainment. Your recognition is well deserved.

Dorothy Africa

Thank you. TT deserves the honor in the person of Tim but it is grand that he views it as a collective

Kathy Carlson

I'm sitting here in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, silently weeping for the beauty of this interview. Congratulations, Tim, and thank you again for enriching all of our lives as you have done and continue to do. I could write an essay here, but from one English teacher to another, I will not inflict that on you. I loved hearing about mindfulness and archaeology, too. We heal the earth, and we heal each other, when we engage in mindful activity. Peace, love, and light to all of you. So grateful.

Dennis morris

Congratulations Tim and it would be nice to somehow take Mike with you

caroline cleaveley

Great news for tim and the time team gang. caroline.

Chris Bate

Well done Tim & the team

Juliet B

Congratulations, how exciting!

Andrew Lavey

Excellent news, Tim. Well deserved.

CCZ

Congratulations Tim!

Eggs Ackley

Such a wonderful honor for Tim and by association, all of the TT family, past and present. Now could some royal slap Phil with a knighthood?

Lorna Dryden

What does MBE even mean? (Silly American here) 😊

Leigh Francis

How wonderfully generous to remember all the wonderful people that left such an extraordinary legacy. Very humbling!

Lorna Dryden

That’s a big deal I’d say 🙌🙌

Roger Mills

And a posthumous JCB for Ian Barclay please whoever's in charge!

Doug Mackey

So deeply deserved. ❤️

Doug Mackey

It’s no wonder he could martial the Time Team.

Brett W Walters

Congratulations Tim and all the Time TeaMBE's by extension! Well deserved!!

Derek Thom

A memorable bit of history in itself. Well done Tim (and Mick).

Lauren Zimmerman

So well deserved!!!!! Congratulations Tim! Now we need to see honours for Phil. Not just for archaeology but also for his work with returning military veterans.

Anja Adam

I have no idea what an MBE is, but it sounds very serious! So, well-deserved: Congratulations! To briefly address something Tim said here: When our ancestors in the Mezolithic period made their flint tools, they, so to speak, lit the spark for the development of creativity and curiosity. This is precisely why I've been interested in history and archaeology since my earliest childhood: the questions of How? and Why? did we Homo sapiens become what we are today, and What the hell went wrong for some people? =) So, a huge thank you to the TIME TEAM for accompanying me on my journey of curiosity and inquisitiveness. Keep it up!

Maria

How lovely. Congratulations Tim and well done for your consistent and dedicated input to TT. A great honour to all of you in Archaeology. Mick, Victor and Robin would be incredibly proud. 👏

Fiona Drake

Congratulations Tim and all at Time Team for a lovely recognition. Three great ideas for the future which came up in the podcast - 1. Taking Time Team into schools 2. Doing more localised community digs and 3. Publicising the threats to archaeology contexts both environmental and criminal. Personal experience as a volunteer digger and post-ex for 15 years has shown me the immense personal well-being people get coming back and back repeatedly. I would advise Time Team archaeologists - if they don’t already know of it - to check out the recording work on the environment destroying the anaerobic levels at both Vindolanda and Magna fort where Andrew Birley has led the response by installing deep probes recording the changes which he’s seen over a lifetime of work on the same site.

Christopher Samuel

Congrats TiMBE! Congrats to Helen on that pun too, love it! :-) Bravo to you and the whole team!

Roy Pollard

I've just sub'ed to TT on Patreon after seeing how excellent the new content is, enhanced further by the older releases. The small tweaks and additions to the new stuff look really well thought out and I'm looking forward to further episodes in the future. The Shetland stuff looks really promising.

Difort

An enjoyable interview and congratulations Tim. Very well deserved!

Andy Grigg

It's interesting to hear that Mick et al had the same concerns as I've heard Prof Brian Cox and others state about them focusing on television and outreach, rather than doing 'proper' science from some of those inside their own fraternities. I certainly wouldn't have given archaeology much of a thought if it wasn't for Time Team, and before that Time Signs, and so I am forever grateful that they were brave and ploughed on regardless. It might have taken thirty-four years to received this level of recognition, but I give you my hearty congratulations on being granted the honour.

Connie L Merchant

Great interview. Congratulations to Tim and all members of Time Team past and present. Well done, King Charles, too.

Jude Edling

Congratulations Tim! I agree with Helen that this is a well deserved honor for your accomplishments and recognition of the importance of archaeology, especially in backyards. Thank you for Time Team!

Penny Ewles-Bergeron

Congratulations! I found myself feeling rather emotional listening to that. Time Team has been a part of my family’s life for so many years, watching with a toddler daughter who would grow up to study history and archaeology and get a master’s in Classical Civilisation. We still hoover up TT content and are thrilled to get it back again thanks to Tim and team’s extraordinary efforts and resources brought together via Patreon. Well done and taking Mick along to the palace with something striped is a brilliant idea.

DIANA R NELSON

Congratulations, Tim. Britain does so much more than we do here in the States. I love watching TT and I've learned a lot more history in doing so.

Frances Alayne Perrott

People forget that King Charles did a degree in archaeology and history. I like to imagine him and the Queen sitting down on the sofa to watch Time Team during private moments. Tim has probably been acknowledged for his key role in creating Time Team's really modern new format.

David Boon

I was a history teacher and curriculum expert in Australia. I would love to be involved in getting archaeology in the classroom for young students. Kids have just the visual skills needed for archaeology and yet we sit them at desks and gradually ask them to stop looking at the world. A five year old can see visual patterns in things like architecture better than many adults but it isn’t a valued skill.

Lou Charlton

Love this 😊 Congratulations, well deserved 🫶✨
