We're heading back into the Time Team archives to revisit another fascinating Classic Special! This time, we're travelling to Lincolnshire for "Life on the Edge 1000BC", where the team take on a race against time to uncover a remarkable Bronze Age settlement before it's lost forever. Join us as we revisit this incredible excavation and discover what life was like in Britain over 3,000 years ago. Don't forget to get involved in the live chat and share your thoughts with fellow archaeology fans – we love rewatching these classic episodes with you all! In this episode, Tony Robinson and the team head to Washingborough, in the Witham Valley just outside Lincoln, where a major Late Bronze Age settlement lies in the path of vital flood defence works. With just six weeks to investigate the site during the autumn and winter of 2004, the archaeologists must race against the clock to record its secrets before the landscape is transformed and buried beneath tons of clay. Working in challenging, waterlogged conditions, Mick Aston, Phil Harding, Bronze Age specialist Francis Pryor, wood expert Maisie Taylor and landscape expert Stewart Ainsworth help uncover thousands of fragile prehistoric artefacts, ancient wooden structures and environmental remains. Together, these remarkable discoveries offer a rare glimpse into life around 1000BC, revealing how people lived and worked in this landscape thousands of years ago. Join Time Team as they race to preserve a precious piece of Britain's ancient past!

Just when I was looking for "something to do" this afternoon, you showed up. I remember watching this when it was first posted on YouTube. I really enjoyed it. And here I am again nearly 20 years later, with fresh eyes and an expanded knowledge base :)

Fascinating ! Keep digging and you'll find King Arthur.

I wonder if the process such as the “virtual unwrapping” that they’re using for the papyruses that were found in Herculaneum might find something on those lead curses found…

I know these specials are old, but I just love them. Thanks for making more of them available! And this one seems to be truly ad free.

I watch these old classics over and over again. They are on channel 4, my therapy when needed. Really brilliant for relaxation and how ever many times watched I always learn something new. Just an unbeatable show.

I dont think I've ever seen this one. Fascinating. I was pleased to see Gerry McDonnell, who was there right at the beginning in Athelney.

Jim Markey

I've never seen this episode before. Very exciting!

What a fascinating program. To find so many Bronze age items in one small trench is really something to be proud of. Very well done everyone. It's always good to see Professor Mick Aston in action again too.👏👏👏👏👏👏 .

There's a problem with the old audio - it sounds like the signal has been clipped.
