Getting more involved

Carole Cox

More questions than answers :-)

PercyPrune

Really enjoying the videos chaps, thanks! My question(s) - how does this compare to the old series (later ones) in terms of size of digging crew and backroom staff? And does it feel like there is more resource available through this funding route than there was through the old one? There certainly seems to be a hive of activity! Thanks, Jenne

Ann Wagner

Thank you for saying hi to friends old and new on site. Oh, how I want to go and point that camera down into the exciting, mystery trenches! Who decides what you can and can’t share at this point? Tim? Writers and producers?

Hunt

Having just re-watched the entire available set of episodes, I've observed Stewart's theories are right at least 98% of the time. Geophysics, about 10% of the time (being generous).

John Appel

Hahaha - "It hasn't changed *my* story."

Jean Buckley

A Stewart teaser… fabulous!

Richard Linley

Stewart is awesome, but WILL he buy a round?

Martin Burch

I still want an answer to the question of how many times has the story of the site changed! It’s those sorts of questions and topics that I was hoping would be covered in these early “behind the scenes” videos: I wouldn’t want or expect the actual archeology yet, as that will come later in the fully-produced episode and subsequent extra content that will explore the details in more depth. But I was hoping for more of the transitory stories about the people and the process and how they work and what they do - things that are forgotten about once the story of the site is being settled upon, but which inspire us patrons about the team, their work in general, and what it’s like during those famous three days. Another example of such a topic I’d love to see more of, is Naomi’s water tank in action - not the results of it, but how it works. Having said all that, I think this video clip is the best one from the site so far - so maybe the guys are finding their way into making the right sort of good content for videos filmed and edited on site during the dig itself.

Mac Whatley

There’s so much going on, the final show really should be more than just the usual 50 minutes long!

Janet Hay

Great to see Carenza, as well as Natalie, Gus and the other team members. These site tours are great. My question is for Tim and Danni. Would it be possible to have extended features over the next few months on one or more intriguing finds, following their progress from muddy object in trench, through labelling, cleaning, analysis, imaging, historical context and all of the other processes to reconstructed object in a presenter's hands? We could have introductions to people and techniques with explanations of what is going on at each stage. It would give us a good idea of how many people are involved behind the scenes. Also, I realise it may not be possible at this early stage, but when we see an object displayed, could we please have an idea of which dig and trench it came out of? Eg was the 3D pottery image one of the pieces Danni was holding earlier? It would be great to have links like this explained. Thoroughly enjoying the story so far and looking forward to more.

Sharyle Doherty

So many intriguing statements from Stewart, Carenza, and others. Love the Hydra metaphor from Carenza. I’m wondering if there’s an artist on site sketching like Victor Ambrus used to do?

Priscilla Logan

Stuart is such a tease and yes she is lovely

Priscilla Logan

I mean he not my microphone doesn't understand me sorry

Mark Horn

Love all the walkabouts really makes you feel part of the team and gets you so excited for the new program 👍🤘

Steve Mikre

I'm loving every single update and interview. Thank you...

Emma chamberlain

Yes love the walkabouts too! Thanks… so many cliffhangers tho. I need to know more!! Great to see the presenters too

Mike Darby

This is absolutely brilliant, I have watched all the video segments, Derek and Lawrence are getting better and better at building a picture behind Time Team as we know it. How cool, and to my mind better than just seeing the three day dig on its own and to my mind even better than a TV presentation. Channel 4 eat your heart out! Power to Patreon.

Hi Martin, good question! The reality is that with so much going on across the site over the weekend, with various experts in various trenches, it takes time to ask and answer those questions, collate the content and then curate and share it with you. We may not also know the full significance of a particular development or find until it's placed in the wider context of the full dig. It's a challenge to give more than just a snapshot of what's happening, as it happens in real time, but we've filmed a huge amount of footage and collected a wide range of insights from the team and crew, which you'll be seeing more of in the days ahead. Patreon is an exciting new way of doing things for us and by the nature of bringing you into the process, you won't see the full picture, fully formed straight away. We're also learning too, looking at the best ways to bring you closer to the action as we go, and feeding this into the next dig. What we can say right now is that it's been an incredible weekend, the answers you're looking for are on the way, and we think you're going to really love what we've got coming up! Thanks again for the support and for helping to make this happen.

Hi Janet – all this is to come! We've just shared a tiny fraction of what has been going on so far, so please keep a look out for more detail of the various things you've mentioned. Thanks again for joining us on this adventure!

Susie Stockton-Link

I - WE - really feel a PART of what's going on. What I'd give to be a part of the craic at the end of each day!

Donna Oglesby

The Walkabouts are really interesting as a whole and great to see Stewart!! and Carenza. All that is going on in the back round of the rest of the filming is nice...Love being able to see all this on Patreon! Makes me feel as if I am there along with everyone else on the digs..

Donna Oglesby

BUT I MISS SEEING DR. PHIL HARDING:-(

Jonathan Eisen

This has been so much fun. Thanks guys! Can't wait for the actual episode.

Jill P

Carenza and Helen haven't changed a bit. Must be all that fresh air

Michael Lyons

"Remember what I asked for?" Big grin. "This might be it." A tease, but not as big a tease as Stuart. Love the walk arounds and Can't see it, can't talk about it, just wait. Now patiently waiting...

Kay Theriault

I miss Phil, but I know he's there in spirt and who knows when he might pop up?

Donald Milne

it does sound like this site is going to deliver... in spades? :-D

McBrucie

Nice one....loving these vids. What is on their lanyards.... looks really small?

Cheryl Kurucz

Wow that was so exciting! When will this episode of Time Team be finished and I can watch it onPatreon?

Elaine P

Can't wait to hear Stewart's theory...and the entire episode!

Richard Moss

Fantastic. Loving Derek and Lawrence's fan boy enthusiasm. A thrill to see Carenza back on a Time Team dig, and Stewart poised to drop the definitive theory in the dying moments of Day 3.

Elizabeth Ackermann

Stewart! Leaving us in suspense! Can’t wait to hear the theory 🧐

Peter Lee

Omg. Stewy is such a tease.

Kathryn

I’m loving every minute of this!! I love the teases. I love everyone’s excitement. I love the new blood as well as familiar faces. THIS IS FANTASTIC!!

Born Idle

These walkabouts are great. They give a person-view perspective to the whole site and everything that's going on.

Diane E. Englot

How many miles do you guys walk each day!

Eggs Ackley

I have a sneaking suspicion that when the episode is finally aired Phil will make an appearance.✌️

john reames

everyone: we've got this whole thing figured out! =) stewart: no actually you're all wrong, this minor earthwork over here is the key to the whole site! =D

Hilary Meehan

SO great to see Carenza, Helen, and Stewart!

Fern Wilcox

I am gobsmacked by the controlled chaos and myriad surprises everyone is working with as they manage to "complete" the dig and ultimately share the stories with us. Thank you one and all for ALL of your contributions! Cheers from Minnesota

Dave

I had to order my own Time Team trowel! Thanks for the update!

Dorothy Frank

You all are doing a wonderful job of showing us behind the scenes, doing the walkabouts, drones, introductions, chats, teasers and peeks. Looking forward to whatever you want to share! And yes, i want a trowel now too.

Doug Mackey

Brilliant! These walkabouts keep building the suspense! (I already have my TT trowel: Pre-numbering.

Sharla Hulsey

Phil has been in videos from Wessex Archaeology relating to Waterloo.

Sharla Hulsey

I immediately thought, "Sonic trowel," when she was kidding around about the logo on the handle being a button.

Aaron Wisch

If I could go back& be anything it would be a Stewart.

Kristna Evans

I'd have to come back with a completely different brain to come back as a Stewart. But I do so admire his!
