Thanks to everyone who has voted and shared your thoughts in our 2022 Longlist ‘First Impressions’ poll. If you haven’t yet, please do make your voices heard!

More details about individual sites are on the way in our ‘Site Wrestle’ sessions, and we look forward to seeing how everyone's thoughts  evolve as the process continues.

We’ve already received several more exciting suggestions that could get added to the longlist – including some interesting ideas from you.

SPREAD THE WORD!

As Time Team’s biggest supporters and extended family, there is one other small way to make a huge difference in helping us to spread the word and, ultimately, investigate more sites.

If you haven’t already, please do:

Leave a comment, explaining what excites you most about the longlist and why you enjoy playing a part in the process

We are always humbled by the wonderful comments here on Patreon, and love to share some of this buzz and sense and excitement with Time Team’s wider audience who haven’t yet joined us on the platform.

Thanks to YouTube’s mystical algorithms, every view and ‘like’ on our publicly available videos makes a massive difference in maximising traction and reaching the largest possible audience.

So, even if you’ve already watched an early bird preview on Patreon, please do join us again for the later public viewing on the Time Team Official YouTube channel.

It’s your amazing ongoing support that makes this all possible, so thank you once again!

One suggestion to improve Patreon participation: Make the Patreon link more prominent on the timeteamdigital.com site. If one has a spur of the moment urge to join, you can lose that urge quickly if you can't find an easy way to do it. (Easy being relative.) I suggested to a friend that he should support the project on Patreon. He asked, "Where do I find the link?" I told him, "Just go to timeteamdigital.com." Later, I asked him if he followed through, He sheepishly told me that he had gone to the website and couldn't find the link. I gave him a hard time and went to look for the link there myself. Maybe, I'm getting old and need a blinking neon light, but I had a devil of a time finding the link on the site. (Found it.) I know there are other ways to access the link, but every advantage/opportunity to direct visitors to the Patreon sign-up should be optimized. Now that I have written this, I will probably see it plain as day immediately following! Anyway, I suspect that he wasn't the only visitor to have trouble finding it and losing immediate interest after a bit of searching. "... Just sayin' "

Hi Alan, thanks for the heads up. We'll have a look at making it more visible on the website.

What about helping Wirral Archaeology investigate what could be the site of the Battle of Brunanburgh. That could be a history-making dig.

This plea for getting the word out leads me to believe that the situation is such that at present funding levels it is possible to make only two Time Team episodes a year, and that support has flattened out. However, that's a guess. I hope that at some point Time Team will let those funding the project know what their funding is likely to achieve.

From the longlist, I like the look of the "south west's archipelago" site. It reminds me of Carn Uny that I used to live next to.

Happy to help. I really enjoyed the "Site Wrestle" sessions for these last two digs, so very much looking forward to these next discussions.

Hi Dan, the idea behind this post is really more about helping to encourage engagement and interaction across our wider channels, rather than funding. We’re fortunate to have an amazing and active community who love archaeology as much as we do. So sharing that excitement through views, likes and comments on the public channels is another way to help make a huge difference and continue extending that reach. It particularly helps the algorithms to join us for every public premiere and rewatch again, even if you’ve already seen an ‘early bird’ Patreon preview. As we gear up for the release of the new episodes, we’re calling upon our biggest supporters to help make the public premieres as big an event as possible. We have some very exciting plans in the pipelines for the release, which we will be sharing more details of shortly, so please watch this space.

Hi. As Tim states in the Longlist announcement video, "We are aiming for at least two more headline Time Team digs later this year, perhaps even more", so that’s the current state of play. It’s a great position to be in already at this stage for 2022 and we’re delighted to be building on the foundation laid down last year. Of course, the more support we receive, the more we can do, and we’ll continue to keep you informed of the latest goals and expectations in each stage as the process develops. The Patreon/YouTube route is very different to the traditional broadcast model in many ways, so we can’t draw a direct comparison in approach or expectations, but that brings several advantages too – not least much greater flexibility in we how shape and release the content. While this may mean fewer sites per year, we can share much more extensive and in-depth coverage of those sites than was ever possible previously, while actively involving you in the process. As well as the traditional ‘three-day’ digs, we can take a broader view and have much greater scope to share the surrounding activities that go on throughout the year in support of excavations, both in the field and in the lab. This includes dropping in on existing projects that the team are already involved with, researching new suggestions from Patreon, and catching up on progress and developments from our 2021 sites. Many fans have asked to see more of the process and find out what happens when Day 3 finishes. Throughout 2022, we’ll be delving deeper into these aspects, alongside additional complementary content that’s more similar to the traditional Time Team ‘specials’ that focus on ongoing longer-term projects. We have a very exciting year ahead with a wide range of content in development, following the release of the new episodes. Thanks again for your support and we hope you enjoy the journey with us.
