Thanks for your messages – we are very sorry to anyone who can’t find your name on this year’s Flag of Fame.

In order to have been included, you will have needed to actively opt in, by submitting the Google form via Patreon by Wednesday 20th July 2022. (Please note: even if you submitted your name last year, all Patrons needed to opt-in again to be featured this year.)

If you did the above, but can’t find your name on the flag, please send us an email to membership@timeteamdigital.com by the end of Monday 10th October with the subject line “2022 Flag”.

We are looking into the original responses and will check if your name was received via the Google form by the deadline.

Please confirm that you wished to be included and provide the name (up to maximum of 20 characters), which will be incorporated into an updated design – to be shared on Patreon soon. We’ll also ensure that they are physically represented with us at the next dig site.

Thank you all again so much for your support – you are essential members of the team and we couldn’t do it without you!

To be honest I'm kind of surprised people are that worried about (not) finding their name. Respectfully, unless it was a dedication to a loved one or something I don't think it's really all that crucial.

Ann Wagner

I found the listing for me and my cousin! She’s going through a tough time, so it’s good to be able to tell her our names are there.

JUDITH COOKE

Took me a while, but I have found my name. Thank you.

Eric Tottman-Trayner

No problem - thank you adobe! It would be interesting, I think, to do a geographical and social analysis of the names on the map. After all, you don't know unless you look!

I didn’t realize I had to opt in again, saves me looking over the flag a third time. I’ll have to remember to opt in next year, I’ll need to check the messages here more often.

Can I suggest that next year, we have NO opt in process. Every Patreon supporter should have been included in the flag without an opt in process. I know it was nice to have a chance to put a name down that may have been different than our Patreon name. But it looks like some people didn't get the message and are now upset that they are not on the flag.

Hi Andrew, it's a good idea, but not everyone wishes to have their name included or shared publicly. It also has to be an opt-in process to follow GDPR guidelines and give Patrons a choice. Many who have submitted names have chosen to include other names, family members or dedications other than the name given on their account.

Mark Lund

An opt out process instead?

Halo Pendragon

That's a bit unkind, I think for the people who wanted to participate, opted in through the form and still weren't included. It's not like we're asking for special treatment. But wanting to be included on something offered as a Patreon exclusive isn't silly or not "crucial". We want inclusion because we love it. Being dismissive isn't kind, and that's not in the spirit of Time Team as I have come to know it at least.

Loz

Sadly GDPR specifically prohibits that - it's opt-in all the way

Hi - at first I couldn't find my name, but thought I'd better try the find (CTRL+F) command in the pdf a few more times before sending the "I'm not there email". After about the 10th atttempt and manipulating the find parms (Whole Word not checked), finding just my surname, and zooming in to 110%, I found myself. Hurrah, as I missed the Opt in email for the first flag. My name is spanning the first and second chins of the first 2 faces. What do we call the faces on the Time Team symbol ... Tom, Dick and Harry , or Robin, Mick, and Victor

I think it's highly probable many cases of it not being found is user error (people thinking they submitted when they didn't, or just can't find their name despite it being there). After having been in software development for 25 years, you learn to not believe end users. I would venture to guess 80% of the time it's user error.

OOohh =Next year I am definitely going to tale part :)/. I think I arrived to late to notice this years

Halo Cure summed it up well. I was a little disappointed at first, but thought 'oh well, these things happen' - but then to read that some other people's names are on there twice, when a lot of us were left off, made it even more disappointing. That also to me implies there was some kind of glitch, because as far as I understand the form wouldn't have let people fill it in multiple times with the same e-mail address.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I could play some small role in anything Time Team related. I'm thrilled to be a Patreon & to have my name on a flag... ON SITE, is beyond my expectations. Thank you Time Team, this is a wonderful idea. 🙏

Emily Flotilla

I missed it, but I'll be there next year!

Dorothy Frank

I have mine on last year's so i decided to give others a chance to be on the flag.

CelticWolfMia

Email sent. I definitely filled in the form, but can't find my name. I'm half blind but it's not the most common name so I've tried searching it, even just Mair and my surname but getting 0 results.

Katrina Trigari

Sent email as well. I definitely filled in the form too and can't find my name (which is almost unique). I didn't have the time or patience to visually check the searchable pdf, but I did check it picked up other names - the software is good enough to pick up typed text properly.

Patti Wicksteed

I tried searching in google and got no hits. I tried again in Firefox which gave me a hit but didn't highlight the name. Found it by eye.

Mea Cadwell

I sent an email to membership@timeteamdigital.com by 10th October with the subject line “2022 Flag”. I haven't heard anything back. I definitely signed up this time around as I was excited about it and missed last years. Can someone please contact me?

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Mea, we're looking into this and will have an update very soon. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
