We're gradually edging closer to the release of our new Time Team episodes, filmed last September, and premiering in the Spring. For now, let's rewind back to that first dig at the Knights Hospitaller preceptory on the Halston Estate, Shropshire.

During a quick stop en route to the site, Dani bumped into one of our lovely Patreon supporters, Julian. Following this chance encounter, we invited Julian for an entirely impromptu 'Very Important Patron' tour. We showed him around the site, viewed some finds, and even put him through his paces in one of the test-pits. Look carefully at the flag and you might just spot Julian's name in the centre of the sun rays!

Of course, this occasion was a serendipitous moment and, as much as we'd love to, we simply can't invite every single Patreon supporter to a dig. However, we hope you enjoy the experience vicariously through Julian's eyes!

Brett W Walters

I remember that episode with the great Robin Bush and Tony running, lol.

Amanda Taylor

The magic of time team… size shifting… 🤣

Ann Wagner

What a lovely patron! He speaks for so many of us!

Anne-Karoline Distel

Lovely to see Julian get this incredible chance to join the team.

Lisa Wilson

How exciting for that patron.

Steve Mikre

Julian is a lucky guy...😊

Charr Skirvin

This video was not a tour but an interesting interview with a Patreon member. I did watch it and, yes, Julian is very lucky, but it was in no way an important tour of the site. Oh well. I would follow the Time Team anywhere..... LOL

Teri Paul

Excellent Julian!

Julie Gray

What a great opportunity from a chance encounter

Dennis morris

Ity good to see a fellow Patreon and wish I could get the time team toon as a ringtone for my iPhone

Winfield E. Johnson

MAN! Boy am I jealous!.....Either Julian is really tall, or you're REALLy short, Dani.

Ross Wakeman

Was there when you first come back but sadly

Ross Wakeman

I was there when you first come back but sadly because of my Parkinson's and angina and having all my bank details stolen I had to stop for a while but I am back and I can't wait for all the new digs

Alan Murdock

There must be more new members, My name isn't where it was on last years flag.

JUDITH COOKE

Lucky Julian! I really enjoyed sharing his experience.

Dyana Mason

Love it! What a lucky guy!! Thanks Dani for making him part of the Team!

Lorna Dryden

I’m in America but to spend a day with TT is my dream!!!

Fred

So what I understand is that if I schedule my vacation to a time and place where you are digging... I can jump in! :D

DNONE

Me too, Lorna! 😊 I'm here in the states also l so I LOVE TT .

Patricia Amero

I absolutely love that everyone took the time to show/share & involve a fellow Patron at a dig site... I'm wishing I wasn't so far away in the Yukon, Canada, but BOY OH BOY, the view from here is still fan-tastic! 😊👍

Mark Lund

Lucky chap! I imagine a great day out...no spoilers?! Was Dani on a step ladder for the first shot, as Julian is clearly, from the rest of the video, about 8ft?!

Julian Elcock

It was a fab day, there were certainly some things I didn't get to see so I am as excited as anyone to see the final results. Dani was standing on a big tree root and I was in a hole by it... I'm not quite that tall, only about 6'5"

Mark Lund

Fantastic; glad you had a good day.

The Earls Imagery

Lovely thing to do- random kindness is a GOOD thing!

Graham Stokes

Thank you for that -was thinking something about saying "kindness" and lok what is written in the comment above mine. :-) I think that archaelology isitself a kind of kindness to the past, and for the present , and future. Julian'stour reminds me. Glad to be a patron.

Charr Skirvin

Julian - My son is 6'4" -- and, I'm sorry, that's TALL! Glad you got to tour.

Stitch

Glad to be a Patron and glad that TT offered Julian the chance to represent us all.

Eve

I think it would be fun to have a Time Team site guide. That way those of us outside the UK can plan our vacations and be sure to visit sites in our itenerary.

Kay Theriault

That was lovely! I'm so glad one of our fellow patrons had such a wondeful experience! <3

Graham Dombkins

That's so wonderful. We were all there in spirit with Julian I think.

Elizabeth G Schulz

Julian represents my Patreon thoughts! So happy he reached out, and TT reciprocated! Very exciting for all of us😀 Love what TT does!!!!

Michael Taylor

I'm so pathetically jealous 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Jenna Tomlin

Everything about this makes me so happy!

Nicole Loxley

This was wonderful, Julian represented all the rest of us beautifully!

Nancy Stinson

Have you guys ever thought of sponsoring a tour?

Carl Johnson

A very nice surprise. Looking forward to this season shows.

Donna Holt

Maybe you can find a large field that needs test pitting. Then we can all join Julian!

Julian Elcock

This would be brilliant, or if it was one of those village wide surveys that sometimes happen, get loads involved....

Julian Elcock

It's been a dream of mine since episode 1 and when they came to Bridgnorth initially I had to work and missed it. I am so lucky to have bumped into Dani and Matt on their spontaneous visit and for Tim to then suggest getting me in. Everyone was lovely from the faces we all know to those behind the scenes, they answered all of my questions and directed me to interesting developments as they happened. Every single person involved wants to have more Patreon's involved but working out how to achieve it is the difficulty. I am sure that if a chance presents itself they will get more people in!

Jude Edling

Such a lovely experience, thank you for sharing it with us. Isn't this the wish of every Time Team fan. Just one silly question, at the beginning, was Dani standing on a box or was Julian standing in a hole? Best to all.

Jon Zephanius

I was just thinking the same thing! But I think Dani was standing on a tall tree root XD
