1. Muse Louis is wearing the outfit from 1x1 aka their wedding night 🥹 2. Yea I think the whole ‘everyone only calls Lestat when he’s useful to them’ seems to be a running theme and also for us to understand what he meant by feeling isolated back in NOLA. I feel the difference is that Louis gives Lestat the freedom to be angry and hateful with him. Him telling Gabrielle “why won’t you let me hate you?” made me realise that most people who say they love him know he’s starved for it and will really use it to their advantage by stringing him along and he starts to become an almost performance of himself. But Louis and Claudia love him when he’s stripped off that performance, the love the 3 of them have/had for each other is complex but never conditional :( 3. The outfit muse Claudia’s wearing is also worn in S1 when they play piano together :( Lestat knowing her walk and her heart murmur :( I think the difference in Louis and Lestat’s reaction to Regina felt so telling on how they approached Claudia since her birth. Louis (in his grief) couldn’t face her in her birth and did not face her in her death and always saw her as an extension to himself and Lestat was the first and last vampire she saw as a vampire (he gave “birth” to her) and he always saw her as her own person. I think Lestat’s guilt is more self-aware because he knows what harm he caused her but Louis’ grief is almost like a blanket that stops him from confronting the reality of what he’s done to her. 4. The scene where Lestat is asking Akasha all those existential questions paralleling Claudia asking him and him getting annoyed in S1… Lesclaudia towers have been hit 😭 5. And yes Lestat left Akasha in 1900 and ended up in NOLA 1910, so he was on a boat as soon as Akasha was done and came to NOLA as an isolated overpowered-by-Akasha’s blood newbie vamp. I do find it sad that he was essentially clueless about what having Akasha’s blood meant and had to figure it all out on his own. Also a little sweet that Louis saw this Lestat as some smooth suave fine French man and Lestat had just come off of a decade of isolation preceded by 80 years of trying to die after being abandoned by his mother and having lost his first love 😭 they always seem the coolest in each other’s perspectives 🥹 6. ‘Thomas Pitty he’s a whore’ has 2 Easter eggs - a. David Bowie’s ‘Tis a pity she’s a whore’ and b. a playwright by John Ford(?) ‘Tis Pitty shee’s a whore’ which is about an incestuous tragedy where a brother is obsessed with his sister. I remember people back in S2 pointing out that Louis used Florence’s (his sister) image as a cover to play his ‘dead wife’ while him and Claudia were getting around EU in 2x1 so 😬 idk if this leads anywhere

Don't know if you touched on this in a previous reaction or if someone mentioned this in the comments but something to note is that the necklace that Lestat takes from his father and gives to his mother and that she leaves behind when she abandons him is the one that Lestat gifts to Claudia for her birthday in season one.

AKASHA IS HERE!! Her entire monologue and the statue-esque nature of her. God gothic horror peak! The actress, Sheila Atim, did say that all those moments Akasha is laying still is actually her except for one shot where it was a statue so 🤯

Ohh i loved that Claudia song. Happy we will hear more of that sound cuz honestly i think Lestat sounds better in those slower ones. Hopefully Louis will leave that girl aloneeeee. I dont know what Akasha will do but im ready to see her in present time! Armand being gremlin again and i love it hahah Daniel being daywalker aka nepo baby vampire , hes gonna be unbearable and im here for it!!

This show is so dense… I need to watch it twice every time to even know what’s going on. Marius - I was ready to hate him and I sure did lol. Put someone random in charge, don’t teach them anything and then leave. Then gets mad when they fuck up. “Rotten boy” about Armand. Who made him that way? Mr. Father/maker/abuser. Then let him think you’re dead for 300 yrs, no wonder he’s fucking insane. All the Louis/Regina stuff made me want to scream. Especially when they brought in the fake madeleine. It was so gross ughhhh. Yes to rewatching s1 and 2 to see the Armand and Daniel dynamic. There’s sooooo much going on with how Armand acts towards Daniel. For instance when Louis is jabbing him about Alice, Armand tries to reassure Daniel “she wanted to say yes, but she didn’t trust you yet” then tries to redirect them back to the interview. Or you could just watch their scenes. Also Armand just throwing everything at Daniel that he thinks he’ll like. “Oh I was “helping” you for 52 years. That’s creepy? I want to be your maker. No? Lestat is fucking his mom. I can teach you to walk in the sun” Maybe I’m terrible but I was happy that Armand was back to doing evil shit. I think he was being sincere last episode but it was never going to work. Plus Armand is right. The great conversion will get them all killed. Akasha was amazing. The physical acting was so incredible. She seemed so much like a statue that came to life. Jerky movements etc. I can’t wait to get more of her. Only two more episodes left 😭

Oh godddd the recording vocals and seeing Claudia in *that* outfit. In s1 it was the scene where they were both at the piano playing together... but it's also the moment Claudia starts her plan and presents Lestat with the idea of a Mardi Gras "party". A different moment for the both of them. He thinks on it fondly but also in horror/feelings of betrayal knowing it was when they started the plan to kill him :(

Alex (NOT ALICE)

4. "Are we looking for Adam and Eve of the Damned, Claudia?" S2E1 :(

A rewatch of this whole show is definitely in order at some point. Because it reframes the show and the fight: From Louis' point of view, Lestat was a calculated, cold, and cruel display. Now I'm wondering if Lestat had any idea of how rage-filled, terrible and ferocious he could be. It makes even more sense to me now why he didn't fight Louis when he tried to kill him. Also, Lestat's love and devastation over Gabriella leaving him and driving him into the earth for 80 years could be a reason Akasha was like 'oh that one can take care of me. He needs someone to take care of and is loyal beyond reason.'

Natalia

LOVEDDDDD AKASHAAAAA, uggghhh the monologue was so good, I can see more clearly how the almost extintion of the Y chromosome will come to be, just from that monologue of her. SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD. And Alexxxxx, something is definetly up with him, he's no longer sober (he was drinking when he had that conversation with his brother) and the whole "rest" thing. Yeah....

alondra

hey queen don't want to bother but when will hannibal reactions comeback? sorry if this is annoying you can ignore if you want 😭 just really miss it!

Jana

Yes! That monologue was perfection. The inquisitiveness and confusion turning to frustration and anger, bubbling, bubbling, and then erupting in centuries' (millennia's?) worth of female rage. I think it was Rolin on After Dark that said something about how it's when the "Why"s turn to "I"s that you start to sense just how terrified you should be. The Y chromosome carriers better look out.

Natalia

Yup, exactly!!!

xris037

Lestat isn't dead. The world just thinks he died in the mass shooting.

xris037

Lestat DOES realize. Stop being frustrated about not understanding Gabriella. because then you'll be still enough to read her face better and quiet enough to let Lestat speak. I promise, you'll get it.

xris037

also, no shade but i found it hilarious that you said that gabriella looks at Lestat like she despises him and then the next scene, as you watch Lestat, you have a face of disgust. lmaaaooooo its like continuous stank face

Temi M Reacts

O ṣé oooooo! because i'm starting to get annoyed.

Temi M Reacts

Also never would I have thought I'd get Yoruba in my comment section 😆 love it!

Tony

I recommend listening to the songs featured in this episode in full! I think the lyrics give great additional insight into Lestat’s mental and emotional state and its a shame they weren’t featured more (though I love how much we got from Stained Glass Eyes).

Alex T

I have no idea what's up with Alex (it's fun having a name twin in the show, lol) but it can't be good that the minute he got Armand as a sponsor, he relapsed. (Also worth pointing out that it's not just alcohol; he also stopped being vegan. Lestat tells Larry to "stop thinking about Alex eating burgers and enjoying Glenlivet again".) Armand what are you doinggg. To clarify the stuff about Lestat feeling like his blood his cursed, that's a direct consequence of him drinking from Akasha. Gabriella (and Nicki) weren't affected because they were made before Lestat's time with Akasha. Louis and Claudia are the two that would've inherited the "rage" effect from Akasha's blood, since they were made after. I swear I watch every Louis and Regina scene from behind my hands now, they're cringe on a soul-damaging level. Intentionally cringe, I get that we're supposed to be uncomfortable, but oh my god Louis go to therapy. Also that look Gabriella gives Lestat is after she admits she needs him and then he smirks and *walks away*. That's why she's mad. He used her own move against her.

Fiona

So many beautiful moments in this episode. Lestat’s face while he first sings “burning in your mirror tonight” 😭 And something else someone pointed out: in the Lestat-memory reshot-with-Delainey brief clip of Lestat making Claudia watch as Charlie burns, it’s so different. Yes, he’s making her watch, but he’s holding Claudia’s hand and she’s holding onto his arm; and Lestat’s face is so desolate (no doubt haunted by Nicki’s burning) —but of course Claudia is standing in front so doesn’t see Lestat’s expression. It doesn’t mean he wasn’t a bad parent to her, but he was trying (with zero good examples in his own life) to teach her the hard lessons he had to learn. One more thought: it’s true Lestat does not like Larry… remember, he said Larry symbolizes his frailty. 🥺

Temi M Reacts

Fair question! I was stuck trying to finish editing the TVL ep 2 reaction. But I plan on starting season 2 this week!

alondra

omg yay!! can't wait

Daniel McGuinness

Tell me why I’ve been waiting for this reaction and didn’t realise I just MISSED the notification!!! 💀 This episode is CRAZYYY! Akasha’s monologue is amazing, god bless this actress she brought it 😭 Louis seeking Lestat for help with his grief for their dead child, them trying to hep each other reconcile but still having a lot of complicated feelings… and with episode 6 since, god… this shows writing is perfection DEMON ARMAND WITH THE POST HYPNOTIC SUGGESTIONS! “A total shredder with an axe” “rest” he’s controlling everybody!! Run!!!

Temi M Reacts

1. omg that's why it seemed so familiar! 2. absolutely. man, that's such a good point about his fear of rejection/loneliness being weaponized against him. there were even some times where Louis did it to hurt him. But Louis is definitely one of those partners who will say the worst thing to you and then come back later like "my bad" lol. 3. ahhh yes, you're right. i think it may the fact that we never saw Delaney wearing it that i couldn't quite remember. and especially in the light of episode 6, that couldn't be more apparent. the difference in how both of them saw her and how resentful she was about it, at least towards Louis. 4. not the "Lesclaudia towers" 🤣 5. ahhh i see. i think i was getting a bit confused by the timeline. but yeah, the gulf between the suave Lestat in S1 vs Keeper Lestat feels so distant. 6. wow, what an easter egg! my lack of rock music history is really betraying me this season lol. fascinating connection to the characters though.

Temi M Reacts

I don't think I noticed it, so appreciate the call out! I completely forgot about that necklace, so I'm glad we are seeing its history.

Temi M Reacts

That's wild to hear it was mostly her in those scenes. Her gaze and voice at the end of the monologue were so powerful yet haunting!

Temi M Reacts

I agree! More of this, please! Louis can't help himself. Episode 6 tho 👀...might be what breaks this spell. And yes, I want to see her in the modern era so badly! Where is she?! VampDan is really becoming the worst version of himself, and I'm excited to see it lol

Temi M Reacts

Agreed! I feel like I should do a more detailed rewatching of those scenes where I focus on the lyrics. There's so much to mine!

Temi M Reacts

Hehe you and Gabrielle (another patron) must be having a ball discussing the show this season with yall's namesakes haha. Ohhhh, I definitely missed the line noting the changes to his behavior. Dang...Armand really will do whatever it takes with little regard for his human "pawns". Ohhh, that's a point I didn't even consider. Lestat's pre- and post-Akasha fledglings. Give them a 2-for-1 special on therapy sessions, I beg! Touché, Lestat!
