Great clip. Thanks for sharing it. A few thoughts: 1. I don’t think we’re supposed to know about Amel because there is absolutely no context. 2. When Marius brought Lestat to the lair, he said Lestat loves his mother, “loves, loves her” is the quote. So I’m speculating that Lestat’s devastation after Nicky’s death and Gabrielle leaving him- which caused him to bury himself in a pauper’s grave, is a part of why Akasha picked him. He would rather die than be alone. 3. I think you’re on to something about the witches. Because we know that Lestat stuttered from the ages of 9-29 in the first episode. And when Dan asked what happened at 9, Lestat talked about the witches. And now I need to go back to episode 1 because the monk asking for Lestat to join the monastery said something about Lestat’s ability to see.. something? You’ve got my head spinning! Can’t wait to see your reaction to episode 6!

Re: 1. You're right. I don't think we're supposed to know about Amel yet, but I did notice something upon my third full episode rewatch after doing my own slow, pause-and-rewind breakdown of Akasha's monologue a few days ago. At the beginning of the episode, during Lestat's opening monologue, he says, "But I, Amel, digress." The way my eyes bugged out of my head when I finally heard that! Like, what?! So now I'm even more confused, but I'm going to embrace the confusion and trust that the writers will clue us in when they, and we, are ready.

Thanks! And true, I wonder if Akasha was searching for someone with that extreme level of devotion. And I want to know more about that experience with the witches! I know in episode 6, he mentioned again that he doesn't like witches. There must have been something very affecting from that moment in his life.

I haven’t the books (slowly making way through IWTV lol) but I took it as Akasha sort of connecting back to the world telepathically and feeling all the pain and suffering that either herself or the female population as a whole has experienced since her slumber. Stoning, hangings, assaults, etc, crying out for mercy to a god who does not answer … But SHE can answer, she can say rise, she can say speak! 👀 Her immediate switch in tone when she says “I am the girl” fearfully, to firmly “I am the God!” was so amazing. Like she’s vicariously feeling all those women’s pain, and is ready to exact divine justice on their behalf I’ve never been so scared but also so “Good for her? Question mark?” towards a character before lmaoo

Love that. It’s like “You go girl!” And also “Oh… but should you?”

Definitely a “Hell yeah! Take back your power! Oh, wait…maybe not like that…” lol

I think You picked up most everything that’s in there. I wish we could all have the monologue isolated on a track to work out to like the one they gave Jacob Anderson when he asked for it!!
