Dee McGee

A major lesson for this episode.

Mike P

Won't play for me either. "Something went wrong."

Matthew Gravens

"This is my associate, Jarret H'otel. If he is not available, contact his brother, Mar'iot H'otel." Along with his fine siblings, Hil'ton and Doubl'tree.

MisterRob

Just started watching, Robbie sounds a bit distant on this recording (?). Think he may need to rotate the mic if it’s a Blue Yeti, since it’s a side address mic (not end)— at least mine is. I had to play with it for a while, but cardioid mode on the back dial (looks like a sideways heart) + tweaking the gain + talking into the side of it where the mute button is usually gives me clear audio. Everyone has different preferences, but just noticed Garrett seemed a bit louder/more “present” on his mic.

Katie Puterbaugh

Great episode! The reactions you guys have get better every week! I think Robbie was right that Harry had more romances than Tom and I'm looking forward to the future episodes with the running gag of Tom listing all of the past failed romances of Harry everytime a new one surfaces. 😂

Chris Kanouse

"Something went wrong" transmission probably intercepted by the Hirogen lol

Justin Rhoads

I was actually thrown off about Harry having to be summoned to Janeway's attention by a random third party as well. Since when does a senior officer need to make a booking reservation to see the captain in the first place? And why would you casually sit around WAITING to bring rather immediate, critical, information to the captain? That whole approach was very odd to me and it doesn't occur again. Any other time throughout the series somebody would simply go knock, er excuse me chime, on her ready room door. Any bridge officer anyway.

Justin Rhoads

I'm just straight guessing but I think Garrett hosts a video call with Robbie which would explain why Garrett is generally slightly more clear both in video and sound. After all I don't think they live anywhere close to each other. But I could be wrong!

Mike Fillmon

O-M-G Martha Hackett!!!! Jared Hotel (or whatever his name was) reminded me of the old TV show Fantasy Island.

Stephanie Baker

Fun podcast. Re-watching these episodes in anticipation of this podcast, I find myself paying more attention to details and themes. It is eye-opening sometimes and cool.

Stephanie Baker

In my head canon, Harry gets to first base with Udana later, but off-screen. and I noticed Tom wandering through the mall for the first time when I watched it this week. I never noticed that before.

Stephanie Baker

I wonder what Tom Paris was thinking about the ethical dilemma. Was he a fan of breaking the rules and getting the technology or sticking with Star Fleet principles. and the Doctor doesn't show up in this episode. We know the stance of all the bridge officers and Belanna, except Tom, which Robbie pointed out in the podcast, probably has an interesting opinion given his history of rule-breaking.

Stephanie Baker

Oh! and thank you for bringing on Martha Hackett! Such a great character. She is almost a quintessential Maquis except that she's Cardassian!

Redux

The Delaney sisters names are Jenny & Megan, for future reference :)

Craig Sweaton

If anyone is having issues playing the video on a phone using the app. Click the link in the notification email. This should open the video in a browser. That's what worked for me :)

Nikyah Brewer

OMG... them trying to remember the episode made me fall out of my chair laughing.

Charity Ponton

I am only on the rewatch bonus material and I am cracking up! lol

Matt

LOL! Harry getting all the action!

Matt

I thought I was the only one who couldn't keep the names straight in this episode!

Matt

I love that Garrett, staying down to earth and remembering what it felt like to start out and be lower on the totem pole than others...everybody is a person too. :)

Matt

How did a french accent get into the Delta Quadrant..the same way a random earth dog got there..LOL

Breana Harris

There's a cool shoutout to this episode in Picard where they say the Borg got the spatial trajector thing from the Sikarians. These hedonistic handsy people were assimilated! Also, I always wondered why they established that B'Elanna is always trying so hard to get them home when they established that she has nobody who really cares about her there. Hearing Martha Hackett talk about this stuff is so exciting 😍 This was a great episode! I love that you've made talking about the themes a regular thing.

Matt

So cool to see Seska!! Love that segment, thanks guys!

MisterRob

Great episode— almost fell out of my chair when Martha Hackett showed up! Never really heard her talk about her character before, so that was fun :-)

GAY Kleven-Lundstrom

I am loving these weekly podcasts. I watch the podcast then the Voyager episode, to me with the commentary and insights; its like watching the Voyager episode for the first time. Thanks Robbie and Garrett and all those involved for giving me a new perspective.

Laura Johnson

Great episode and fantastic podcast! Loved seeing Martha Hackett!! That final scene with Janeway, Torres, and Tuvok always gets me!

Sebastian Quinn

Love this episode...but I’d forgotten how much until I rewatched it for this podcast. The reprimanding scenes were great! Also...no Doctor in this episode! Great to see guest star Martha in the seat. Love love love the contemporary fab reviews. Did we have internet back then? I can’t imagine they’d be online.

Sony

"How convenient that there's two holes for the matrix to fit right in". lol To be fair, I think the two holes in engineering were modified after Harry got a good look at the trajector matrix during his meeting with Jaret. Afterwards, Seska says to B'Elanna "We'll need to use engineering to configure the matrix", that's probably what those 2 holes were, and why we never saw them before/ again.

Sony

I also noticed that was the fastest sunrise ever. "Alastria has two and a half-hour days" Ha Love your show.

Michael Bucca

So cool that Garrett was an extra on seaQuest DSV. Loved that show.

Louise Mallard

I have really enjoyed all the content since joining, thanks guys, it's been something to look forward to and has cheered me up.

MisterRob

Agreed— if Garrett is reading these, I’d like to know what episode :-)

Megan Hurwitt

Garrett, your story of letting everyone eat before you resonated with me. In the Army we are taught that leaders eat last. As an Officer, I let all enlisted Soldiers eat before me because it is my job as a leader to make sure that my subordinates get food. If that means that I sometimes go hungry (and sometimes I do because there's nothing left) then at least my Soldiers ate. You are a natural born leader!!

Roe O'Brien

Wow, big request to cast Kate Mulgrew as the Godfather. hahahahah

Roe O'Brien

Great episode, guys! I cackled so much!!! Hilarious, wonderful. Love ya both!

Sony

I think what Seska said about their fellow Marquis fighting/dying in the demilitarized zone is what made B'ELanna want to go back to the Alpha quadrant. Also, interesting observation about the Sikarian reference in Picard. I totally missed it. Man, the writers went deep.

Craig Drebit

Even Garrett's impersonation of the final Janeway/Tuvok scene gave me goosebumps and made me a bit emotional! For me the Tom/Harry b-roll during the first season quickly endeared me to the characters. It's why they are my two favourites of all of Trekdom. :)

Jonathan SCE

Robbie, something you should know about you mic. That Yeti mic that you are using is a side-address mic. The Blue logo should be facing you for best results.

Mihaela Grasley

Great episode and discussions! Thank you very much, both of you! And, also, it was a pleasure to see again Martha Hackett with you two!

Chris Flores

Seska is even more attractive now adays! Good lookin lady.

Kris Hansen

Garrett, I worked as an extra on a couple of TV shows and several movies. Some of the stars were so kind and gracious to the extras, and others treated us like we were invisible or contagious. I was always so impressed with the actors who treated us nicely--they were classy human beings. You are, too.

Nathanial Moon

Every episode I wonder if that nice Harry Kim fella will find a girl and settle down. This is one of those episodes where I'm like Yay! Harry Kim gets the girl! My hero! Then the episode ends and it's like DUHO!

Kris Hansen

Oof, I had forgotten just how skeezy Gath was. What in blazes did Janeway see in him?

Harpo1987

I am *so* disappointed that Garrett seems to have motion soothing enabled on his TV! :-P

Travis Smalley

This is a prime (pun intended) example of how looking back at Voyager's journey, the technology of alien races could have played more of a factor in Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant. I often ask myself after reading or watching a story "why was this story important to tell?". I don't think this is my original idea. I think this idea comes from the the internet somewhere, but looking at Voyager's journey I think it would have been an even better story if they would have kept upgrading the ship over the seasons to get home, meeting aliens with different ideas and technologies and the Voyager crew amalgamating technologies to work collaboratively with one another. Maybe in this episode they keep the module's schematics and in a later season they meet an alien society that knows how Voyager can use the concept to travel faster, but it doesn't allow them to travel as far or something. Technology upgrades happens throughout Voyager (slip stream drive, borg improvements, the doctor's mobile emitter etc...)This happens in the final two episodes where voyager is able to fly past the borg because their defences are so incredible, but rather than a time traveling Janeway who gives them the technology, instead there is a seven season build up where the Voyager crew uses alien technologies they have acquired and figure out how they can get past the borg. Perhaps they invade a borg ship to find out which junction they must take to return them to the alpha quadrant. Perhaps they still discover how to also destroy the network of wormholes. This would make for a huge build up of tension and satisfying release without the time travel. Going further into the future, it would be so incredible to see the Picard series handle a full borg invasion and what they must do to overcome the borg. It would be incredible to see an epic story solution like in the Destiny Trilogy by David Mack. If you haven't read this series I strongly encourage you to. Back to the main point. It would have been cool to see this technology and other alien technologies enhance Voyager to the point where they could take on the borg and get home, or not take on the borg but still get home.

Scott Friend

Loving the hat this week Robbie!

Natalie Boehm

I love when we see you re-watching the episodes. It makes me chuckle!!

Miki Tracey

i just had the one note.

Miki Tracey

is it me or did Ronald Guttman look and sound enough like Ricardo Montalban to cause more than one double take? And i mean Fantasy Island Montalban...of course.

Tiffiny Lawrie

Just joined as a patreon :) As a background performer I was cheering at your comments about extras being human beings! Thank you! There are many who don't treat us as such

Dead_Alewives

Were people really interested in language lessons? I know I wasn't.

ST Fan CB

At least teach me Klingon...something to do with the Star Trek Uni. Although I love them, where is RDM finding all these early 90's reviews about the show? The internet was not really prevalent then so where are they being stored for posterity?

Tacy Muzzy

This last line about logic justifying anything is one of my favorite scenes in all of Voyager. I've actually quoted this in my regular life! An emotional scene every time I watch it.

Eric Leitman

The alien species in this episode are mentioned in Picard season 1 episode 6. Really cool for a Voyager fan.

Ryan Fisher

Since we later find this race was assimilated by the Borg, that means there are drones out there with coat hangers coming out of their heads.

Christina

I’m all onboard with Robbie about this episode. From Harry being the real playboy of Voyager and not Tom to the creepy neck choking thing of Janeway to principles. Harry was always the one who had a gazillion women. Many trysts with women throughout the series. The choking scene always creeped me out. Part of me waits for Janeway to start gurgling.

Rachelle H

It's funny how you said people are afraid to touch people bc of they might get sick. And that attitude goes completely against Star Trek who teaches not to be against different people even sick people like the phage, it's crazy how it turns around that you can't even be close to someone anymore bc you are scared to get a cold
