The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is State of Flux. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars. Martha Hackett joins them for a short interview about the episode!

State of Flux:
While on a routine exploration of a new planet, Voyager responds to the distress calls of a Kazon warship. Upon investigation, they find the Kazon ship hobbled by an accident caused by Federation technology - a clear signal that Voyager may be carrying a traitor.

Once again, Robbie doesn't disappoint during the "What Do We Remember" segment. Garrett: "What do you remember from this episode?" Robbie: "What do I remember? 'State of Flux.' That is how my memory feels right now, in a state of flux. I have no idea. I really have no idea..." Garrett: "I'm going to make you a T-shirt that says, 'I have no idea.' "

Hopefully the 1984 Nancy Allen one not the recent crappy remake!!

Anastasia Guiler

This one reminds me of a TNG episode where Riker's former captain is trying to develop cloaking tech and the crew and ship become fused with rock. Scared the crap out of me.

Evette Rowley

I guess leola root is really alpha quadrant ginger root spray painted green 🤣🤣🤣 I say this every time I watch this ep.

Garrett, when you were talking about the people getting stuck in rocks and Navy experiments about it, I was reminded of the X-Files episode about it. Not sure if it happened IRL, but maybe that's what you were thinking of? Michael McKean was in it, so therefore it was pretty good. I mean, how can you go wrong with Michael McKean, right? I imagine you would know. :-)

Andrew Bennett

Loved your interview with Martha Hackett. She was the star of this episode. Loved Seska.

Mark Shuler

Ditto Andrew Bennett great choice for the interview guest. And moving on to the fan reviews section, until Garrett said they were ending DS9, filming a TNG movie...that Voyager became the somewhat lost child in the first season, I had not thought about that reality. I say the producers/writers did an excellent job given those circumstances.

Jenners

You didn't mention Janeway's hair! She has a French twist -- such an improvement over the bun!

Michael Seidl

I'm sorry if this has been said, but when the interviews are cut in, there has not really been an introduction to whom you're talking too. Is this just something I'm missing because I'm only on the Ensign tier?

TheDeltaFlyers

It has been mentioned, and we have made changes to make sure we have an intro for the guest. Because we film each guest for multiple episodes we didn't have an intro for each cut in. But we've started to do just that so that those who are only listening will have the audio intro. Videos have a graphic intro for each guest. It just slipped our mind that those who didn't have that visual wouldn't get a proper introduction. Sorry about that, and hopefully the changes we've made in the coming episodes will improve your experience. -The Delta Flyers

The Philadelphia Experiment is the navy thing Garrett mentions
