The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Prototype. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars. Rick Worthy joins them to recap and discuss the episode!

Prototype:
Near-extinct humanoid robots kidnap Torres and threaten to destroy the ship unless she helps build a prototype for construction of new units.

So I hadn't realised Rick was on battlestar (I suck at names) and when that was mentioned I fully freaked out at this being a crossover between two of my favourite franchises - both of which are part of my PhD watchlist (postgraduate life is the freaking best sometimes)

I started listening to this in the car. I’d already watched the video, but I just finished rewatching BSG last week! I recognized that voice! Rick Worthy! And I just bought a book on The Theology of Battlestar Galactica. It was Theology and Star Trek that got me rewatching ST over two years ago (in truth, I never stopped, but since discovering Pluto, it’s on pretty much 24/7). At any rate, now I have to rewatch the video of this podcast and will probably have to look for Rick’s other ST episodes. This was a nice Christmas present! And unexpected! I sure had no idea that robot was Number Four. Thanks!

Did the audio get wacky for anyone else after they introduced Rick?

TheDeltaFlyers

Hi Jamie, we just checked the audio and it seems fine to us. Rick did not have any sound equipment and his voice was recorded straight from his computer, so the quality of his sound is not the best. But such is the trade off for having a guest on. Very few people have professional audio mics on hand. We did the best we could at editing and making it sound as good as possible.

Ian

Yep, can't hear Rick's first intro

Tom Parkinson

Loved this episode! Rick seems like such a nice person too.

Two things: 1. Didn't we see B'Elanna's quarters in the episode when she was getting it on with Chakotay in her dream? (Robbie knows which episode I'm talking about....) Or does that not count because it wasn't *really* her quarters? 2. I'm surprised none of y'all picked the Builders as your loser because they pretty much were the ultimate losers in this episode. Loved having Rick on, what a great voice he has! Next time I watch this ep I'm going to have to pay more attention to that.

Justin

No Russian lesson this week?

Megan Hurwitt

OK, Robbie, I am trying The Orville again, even though I had some problems with it in the beginning. We'll see how it goes.

Rick was great! I was so excited when I saw that his biggest recurring Trek role was one of the central Xindi characters on Enterprise. I love hearing from that group of regular guest stars they used repeatedly in Berman era Star Trek.
