The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Prototype. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars. Rick Worthy joins them to recap and discuss the episode!

Prototype:
Near-extinct humanoid robots kidnap Torres and threaten to destroy the ship unless she helps build a prototype for construction of new units.

The part about Data stuck out to me, but not in a good way. Like, the conversation was fine, but it's like B'Elanna isn't aware of Landru, M-4, Data's mom (which ok, she might not know about Data's mom), or even Lore. Like, sure Lore was deactivated, but as far as anyone knows he *still exists*. And then last but not least, the Exocomps, which she should have been aware of. And I only argue this point because she's clearly written to be not just an engineer, but an expert in robotics & cybernetics (not just in this episode but also in 'Dreadnaught') Also, how chill is Rick, right? I wish the producers kept him around as a crewmember after Equinox (also the rest of the Equinox crew). Not only was his performance great, the Equinox actors would have added to the consistency of the Voyager stagecrew/crew ambiance.

Dee McGee

What a treat to have Rick Worthy on the podcast! I didn't realize he also played Crewman Lessing in Equinox!

Bellatrix_Meyer

Prototype 3947 costume reminds me of a doctor who robot! 🤖

Sammi310

Banana Torres is the pancakes with bananas!

Chris Knapp

Great episode, Guys. Thanks Rick!

Dustin Snyder

I can't hear Rick talking in the video. I hear Garrett and Robbie fine, but Rick is completely silent. EDIT: After the 10 minute mark I can hear him.

AJ Provance

I think the tension between Paris/Chakotay was part of Janeway and Tuvok's plan to sniff out the traitor on Voyager

Matt

I nearly spit out my coffee! Banana Torres! LOL

Matt

LOL I never realized Chakotay was more worried about the shuttle than Tom.

James Buschell

Great episode, awesome to get Rick's perspective. Btw guys were only 1 more episode away until we get to Threshold! That's going to by a hyped podcast.

Christopher Collins

I love his role in DS9 Soldiers of the Empire. He is a character who is wearing Cardassian neck bones on him. He had such a unique character in that 5th season episode of DS9. Once Rick said LeVar Burton directed him is an all Klingon episode of DS9 I knew which episode he was talking about because there are not too many episodes where there are all Klingon episodes or that LeVar Burton has directed that are all Klingon episodes. I remember that from the DVD features for Soldiers of the Empire because J.G. Hertzler talks about LeVar giving him a Captains moment in the episode.

Matt

That's something I always found interesting, how much Belanna refers to herself as "Bay-lanna" Torres instead of Belanna like everyone else. I think I actually kinda prefer the whole Bay-lanna pronunciation more.

Christopher Collins

I was unfamiliar with this guest star but this is unique that he got his start with Jonathan Frakes and Robert O’Reily as a Klingon in a video Game Star Trek Klingon.

Matt

Wonderful episode with Rick, thank you!!

Christopher Collins

I forgot that Rick was in both parts of Equinox. That is so interesting. He had that great integration scene with Chakotay and Janeway in the cargo bay.

Christopher Collins

I can’t wait till we get to Deadlock. That is a great episode with great Garrett Wang stories I bet.

Lizzie

Thanks guys - great episode as always. Happy Birthday Robbie!

Pamela Blotnicky

I have to comment on B'Elanna and Harry's banter in engineering. I always thought B'Elanna was open and funny with Harry because she viewed him as a safe, little brother type. I never saw it as flirting. They had a great friendship that was fun to watch, but it never had a flirty vibe to me.

GAY Kleven-Lundstrom

Wonderful episode, I have a bigger respect for Prototype now. I did not know Rick was the crewman Janeway tried to kill in Equinox before Chakotay stepped in.

Kris Hansen

Loved Rick Worthy in The Magnificent Seven TV series!

Utopia Science Fiction

What a wonderful surprise to have Rick Worthy in this, I'm a big fan of his acting and had forgotten he was in Star Trek. Fantastic episode. As always, thanks so much for doing this - it always makes my Mondays a bit brighter.

Renee M

I’m obsessed with Rick Worthy’s performance in The Magicians. He’s FABULOUS in that show.

David

What a thought provoking episode with Rick Worthy. Thank you guys!

Stephanie Baker

When I first watched it on TV in the 90's, I thought Harry was kinda interested in Belanna, but Belanna was interested in the warp engines. I was cheering for Harry. Then Tom Paris made the Harry-Belanna twosome more of a trio.

Nancy Lapierre

I think we saw her quarters in the second episode when chakotea goes to see her after she punched Carey

Ella R Hurley

I agree with Pamela: The B'Ellana/Harry relationship always seemed sister/brother to me. Cute and familiar, but not flirty.

Jacqueline L Jacobs

When they were talking about Star Trek the Experience in Vegas took me back. I got to do it right before they shut down in Vegas, it was Awesome. The shuttle ride was so cool and the getting to sit in the captain chair then stand in a borg chamber was so cool 😃😎

Maggie Metz

Thank you for another entertaining episode and for having Rick Worthy as a guest. What a nice guy 👍👍.

Holly Smith

Rick is amazing! I hope he gets to come back for Equinox (my favorite episode.) He looks exactly the same! This podcast episode was so great. I loved the jokes and stories from set. Looking forward to next time!

Brenda Rawiri

Really enjoyed this episode and having Rick Worthy as a guest- wow! I didn't realise he was the robot, and I also saw him as innocent and young and wanted Belana to help him. It was truly a great "horror" moment I didn't see coming. I'm also searching for that PC game now :-)

Jason Wang

Obviously Roxanne Dawson thought she was Bae'lanna Torres

Eric Bennett

Having Rick Worthy on the podcast was awesome! What a fun guy! Great job having him on the podcast!

Sonia Singh

I like that they were always good friends. That a man and a woman can be good friends in a non-romantic way.

Laura Johnson

I think so too ... we start seeing things like this pop up that lead up to the episode Investigations ... I wonder how much or little the writers let the actors know of this arc?!?

Christopher Collins

I forgot or did not realize Rick Worthy was in so many episodes of Star Trek as different characters. I think his most memorable has to be in the two parter Equinox where he gets to portray a human.

Ann Marie

I enjoyed this review sooooooo much!!! What a fabulous guest!!!! I love the episode way more now!!

Anna Buttimore

I love that you get some actors who love to do sci fi. I just looked at Rick Worthy's IMDB and he's been in lots of my favourite series, including Stargate and Supernatural.

Nancy Kane

Rick was a fantastic guest! I've enjoyed his work in so many shows (especially BSG), so it's great to see the passion and affection he has for his work. What a great episode :)

Nick Diioro

The intro always reminds me of the original Robocop, when they're bringing him online for the first time and you see if from the robots point of view. Great episode!

shannon brown

Rick Worthy was AMAZING in Man in the High Castle. Didn't know he was in Star Trek shows and now I like him even more :-D!

shannon brown

Also thank you Garrett and Robbie for doing this awesome podcast - I'm rewatching Voyager because of it and it's even better than I remembered.

Mathew Sands

Great episode, excellent guest--didn't know he was a Michigan alum - Go Blue!

LT Turner Jr

So cool having Rick Worthy on the show. He looked so familiar and had to look him up. He was on Star Gate SG1 & The Equinox, that's where I knew him from. :)

Cass

I liked this episode a lot more than I remembered! Great guest star on the podcast!

ST Fan CB

Great episode! Loved having Rick Worthy on. My favorite role of his was on Stargate SG1. I still have my original game CDs of Star Trek: Klingon. I don't know if the game will run on Windows 10 or not.

Christina

Great episode! Love when B’Elanna talks about Data.
