The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Deadlock. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Deadlock:
While attempting to evade pursuing Vidiian warships, Voyager enters a plasma field with disastrous consequences for the ship and crew.

Paris did die in Threshold and then he came back and started evolving, remember?

Kristen

I am slowly catching up to the episodes :) But if I had been listening to this podcast 3 years ago, I would have pulled out a spreadsheet as well!! Nice to know there are other spreadsheet-ers out there :)

So I’m listening to this years after yall recorded this but it made me think, which was the original? I think yall are right in that it was the one that sent Harry and Naomi through before destructing. The reason? Because the vidiians were able to board her. She was in phase with the vidiians. Therefore the other ship which was out of phase with an otherwise original vidiian ship must have been a copy. Lol thanks for that mental exercise!

I tallied up all the first letter of every title and the winner is T with 26 episodes names starting with the letter T. There were 13 episodes for D, 7 episodes for M, and 10 episodes for P.

Jef Lemaire

Well, with all the titles starting with "The" T was bound to win I suppose...

Nick Faraci

This bothered me enough to post: if your logic is that the duplicate Voyager didn't appear until the divergence happens, then how could we have been watching the duplicate ship for the first several minutes? That must be the original (making Kim and the baby the duplicates) and this is the misdirect for the audience, surprising them with the more damaged ship (but the original) continuing on.

sab ewell

I think Robbie remembers D more subconsciously because of P/T episodes he's in like Drive, Day of Honor, Displaced... lol

Ethan Everett

@christopher Collins, there are 10 episodes that’s start with the letter C.

Jennifer Barnett

I see what you're saying!! But then wouldn't the ship that started emitting the whatchamacallits first be the actual original ship... So the intact one would be the original?

Lauren Taylor

Ok, so, me and a friend (who loves the podcast but hasn’t subscribed yet) got to discussing the episode titles and she put them all in a spreadsheet. The amount of episodes depends on if you count the word “The”, which we didn’t since it doesn’t count when you alphabetize things. So episodes were put in as “Chute, The” rather than “The Chute”. We also decided that “37s, The” doesn’t count because it’s listed as a number on screen, but “Thirty Days” does count since the word is written out. So, here’s the Top 5: D 14 R 14 C 13 F 12 T 11

Hey guys, love the show. Spending time with you both each week has really been a lot of fun. I love the theme music of the show. Its catchy and bouncy. However, the way its being cut off abruptly during the intro is a bit jarring. Might I suggest a nice fade out instead? Keep up the great stuff.

The lesson of this episode for me is "There is always a spare Kim"

Love this podcast. I was glad I found it and now have something fun to occupy my hellish commute. Thank you for this! I do have one comment on something I have heard in a few of the podcasts…and I am sorry Garrett… but I have been hearing you talk about how Harry and B'Elanna should have ended up together. I sadly disagree. I saw them more of an older sister/younger brother. I never saw them as a romantic couple. B'Elanna needed someone who had more life experience and could go toe to toe with her, and Paris was more of a fit.
