Well done!! I honestly have not watched this episode since it first aired. It freaked me out back then. I saw it the other day and was genuinely amazed by how good it was. I’d to personally thank Marvin for his brilliant insights about the making of this show. I am a huge fan of behind the scenes programming. I find it very interesting and fun to learn how shows are made. Thanks again. 🖖🏻🤨

Cilantro...kill it. Kill it with fire.

I always liked this episode. It was great to hear the director's perspectives too. As a film studies student I love all this behind the scenes stuff on the visual construction of the show. Tom's big energy performing for people schtick comes across to me as an excellent characterization for this character who is, as well learn in drips and drabs, dealing with childhood issues, survivor's guilt, probably some depression, etc etc. You do see him tone it down a bit toward the end of the series as he matures. So what I'm saying is, the acting was absolutely effective! And anyway, I always had a thing for Paris.

Also cilantro is an evil herb!

Christopher Collins

I like the choice of Neelix playing the Triangle or Cowbell. Does Ethan Phillips in real life know how to play a real instrument?

Christopher Collins

I had no idea Robert Duncan McNeil ever was in a Goofy costume before.

I also have not seen this episode since it first aired. I was 6 years old when it aired and this episode I found freaky. It was not my thing. I enjoyed hearing the insights from the actors and director because I was completely unaware of all the little factoids about this episode. I had no idea the clown plot was filmed at a completely different area than Planet Hell. That surprised me.

Jonathan Kui

This episode was absolutely masterful. Thank you so much!

Elisabeth Westner

I can't believe you left out the obvious that B'Elanna should also be a singer in the band. Wasn't Roxanne a Broadway singer? And you totally forgot about the Doctor; how organic-centrist of you! He and Seven and B should be the headlining trio and the rest of y'all their backup band.

Bethany Avery

I LovE your Delta Flyers theme and wondered how it came to be. Thanks for shedding some light on it. Makes me smile just to hear it and gets great looks from my family when the good mood gets me dancing to it!

Mara

Dear Garrett, Your continued assertions that Harry is entitled to B'Elanna because she was friendly to him and had a friendly nickname for him are very troubling. And they stick out like a sore thumb in this post Me Too world.

Marcel Smid

Dear Mara, Garrett clearly states that he thought that the writers were setting them up to be a couple. There is no Me Too whatsoever.

Susanna Jackman

I absolutely loved the input from the director on the episode. It took a great Voyager episode and made it even better. He was a joy to listen to and it sounds like, a joy to work with. Thanks for having him.

Jenners

I never cared for this episode before because I thought it was creepy. But hearing the director describe his process changed it completely for me. Thanks!

Normandy

Same here, this has always been one of my least favorite episodes. It's just too creepy. The podcast gave me greater appreciation for it....but I still don't want to watch it.

Marvin Rush was a gem in this review! When I first watched this, it became one of my top 10 best episodes. But I love it even more now that I have heard from Marvin. I thoroughly enjoyed his input and how he conceived every element in directing. I hope he does come back again to review!

Derek J.

Now I notice Marvin's name and think of him when watching credits from the other Trek shows!

Caitlin Knight

What was the song Garrett wanted to use for the theme?

I gotta say that I hated this episode when it first aired and I haven't watched it ever since (with the exception of Tuvix, all the other episodes have been watched something close to 60 times). I always assumed, I don't know why, that my reaction was normal, but apparently it wasn't! Sorry! Anyway, I'm on this podcast journey so, like Robbie and Garrett, I am rewatching them all and I was hoping that maybe I was just too young when I watched it before (I was 15 when it aired, so not very young really!). Unfortunately I still feel like it would be my torture at Guantanamo... I can see it's brilliantly done so I appreciate the extra knowledge and craftsmanship but, yeah, I'm not going to watch it ever again. I feel like only watching a show twice is what most people would think to be normal anyway... Oh and I was never afraid of clowns as a kid until I watched this episode. I was afterwards. To me I view this episode as a horror film and I just can't do it. No no no no. Sorry again.

(If it helps to put my brain in context on my scareometer, the 2 most terrifying films I have ever seen are ET and Jurassic Park. I have never viewed past the kitchen velociraptor.)

Just gotta say Marvin was an excellent guest and I hope you have him back. I mean, I love all your guests, but still. Also gotta say I really like your theme music. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it grew on me, and like The Robbie said it's part of your brand now.
