Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Flashback:
To help Tuvok battle a debilitating childhood memory, Capt. Janeway enters a mind-meld with him, which transports them to the U.S.S. Excelsior with Capt. Sulu in command.

I know I'm late to the party but I recently found out this episode was filmed to be released at the same time as the ds9 tribble episode to celebrate a major TOS anniversary - just some fun trivia for any fellow latecomers. Personally I do prefer the DS9 TOS crossover as it's one of my favourite lighter episodes from that season and look forward to getting that far in the DS9 watch through

I was super impressed with Garrett's George imitation - it was spot-on - but Robbie, you did a pretty good George too. Nice job, fellas!

Tim Russ did appear in a Star Trek movie in a movie-era uniform as a human, but it wasn't in Star Trek VI (when this is set). He appeared as a bridge officer on the Enterprise B in Generations. So no retcon there, although you can imagine one if you want. :)

I think I heard the word "Precipice" more in this single episode than everywhere else in my life combined. By the end I was doubting that it was even a real word.

Am I crazy, or are episodes 303 & 304 missing?

TheDeltaFlyers

They are there. I just went back to double check. You can use the search function and search by '303' and '304' they should appear.

The Gaseous Anomaly charting originally came in the Star Trek VI movie. It is Excelsior that charts the anomalies but at the end of the movie Enterprise uses some of the charting probes. Which is probably a plot oversight, but I prefer to think the Federation was going full maoist "This is the year of charting gaseous anomalies" and all of Star Fleet was out charting them. It was re-used as sort of an inside joke in the TNG Season 7 episode Pegasus, where both the Enterprise and a Romulan ship is searching for a crashed eperimental ship, and when they hail, they go "Oh, we're just here to chart some gaseous anomalies." "Really? So are we!"
