Can't believe you didn't comment on Chakotay saying, "She has your legs" about the skater who ran into them. Total JC flirty moment.

Also I think the costumes were sort of goofy because Tom didn't know enough about the culture of that time to know what everyone should wear. So the clothes are close but also awkward for the time period.

I recently discovered this podcast. I am so enjoying Garrett and Robbie‘s remembrances of these voyager episodes. My parents are currently experiencing grave health issues and this podcast is truly the only thing that is bringing me any joy at the moment.

Just FYI, in my family we call Tuvok’s head wear in these episodes the “Tu-rag” and it’s amazing!

In the podcast, the guys were suggesting that the crew would not have understood Paris's reference to money in the 20th century. But they had visited Deep Space Nine, and specifically Quark's Bar, where currency was definitely in use, so I doubt they were ignorant of the use of money. Surely Starfleet regularly encountered cultures which still used it as well.

Hmm, this episode dropped the same time the Pentagon UFO story dropped. I think it’s a cover for The Voyager 😜

I've watched this episode so many times from the time it originally aired. I enjoyed the podcast and look forward to the 2nd part. I wonder if a ship from the future could be reverse engineered with today's technology.

This was always one of my favourite episodes as a kid!

Kudos for reaching out to Sarah. I was really hoping you guys would get her because how much fun would that be? But happy to hear she remembers the show fondly. When I met Ed Begley Jr. about 12 years ago I asked him about this episode and he also said he had a great time.

Horatio Moradi

Yes, and since it was used throughout almost all of human history I'm sure they would easily understand the concept. Additionally, the use of replicator rations on The Voyager is essentially a currency.

I went back and watched Robbie's It's Home moment. He actually just says "home", not "it's home". It's hilarious now Robbie has pointed out the lighting and even his hair is very different, though without having it pointed out I doubt any regular viewer would notice. And, for the record, Robbie delivered the line (well, single word) extremely well. Now I know it was filmed waaay later without any context, I'm super impressed. In fact, just learning in general how out of sequence this was all filmed has given me so much respect for the actors. Kudos to you guys. And yes, brilliant iconic Voyager episode here, with beautiful tie-ins to previous Trek, particularly TOS and Star Trek IV. And how cute is Sarah Silverman's character in this episode? Beautiful, smart, funny, talented...Just like Sarah herself. Such a shame she didn't want to appear for even a couple of minutes on the podcast.

There are vendors on Santa Monica Pier. Some wacky characters but definitely not as many as Venice.
