I agree with the chap above, Star Trek really struggles generally with its attitude towards women. This episode is uncomfortable to watch the fawning and the execution is more 60s than 90s. To use misogyny to achieve parity is not a "win" . A similar story could have been told so easily without resort to cliche.

I’m listening on Spotify at work, and just busted out laughing. Near the start when Garrett starts to talk about his tooth issue; “Alright Robbie let me give you the 411…” and it cuts right into a commercial from Zaxby’s. Had me quite amused 😂

Thank you!!

Marian Bieniek

Thank you for all the time you two put into this, and thanks to Lisa Klink and Dr Noor too!

I liked this episode. Love to see Harry get the girl...or in this case the "girls"

Len

“Punctual?” 😄

I don't know if this problem has already been addressed, but I find Garrett and particularly Robbie to be quite quiet and I have to have my volume on full, and then the music is deafening. Any way the talking can be as loud as the music?

There are obviously lots of problematic elements to this episode and many of them were mentioned on this podcast, but I don't think anybody mentioned this; by making the aliens-of-the-week villainous this episode reinforced the old fashioned idea that women who embrace sexuality, enjoy sex, and are very sex-positive are actually evil and looking to corrupt poor innocent men. So we end up with an episode that simultaneously feels exploitative towards women while also feeling very misogynistic and sex-shamey. The basic premise of the episode is fairly solid, but the implementation wasn't great.
