ok, nobody is probably going to read this because everyone is so far ahead right now. but them talking about skiing and then the reference to Tahoe, just want to throw out there, if anybody wants to come skiing/riding in Tahoe, let me know, I've been here nearly 20 years and work at a small ski resort every winter. sunshizzle@gmail.com

I think I understand why Robbie doesn't remember a lot from that period of time. My 30s went by like a blur. Having a kid or kids will do that to you! You get preoccupied with them.

Jen V

Yeah, I was surprised, it seemed like they didn't recognize that's what happened 🤔.

Loretta Lane

Lol Garrett calling it "nookie" is sending me XD

Loretta Lane

Robbie, as a former theatre kid, I used to run lines the same way. And I also sucked at memorization. I feel ya, bud!

SnazzyO

This episode bugs me for the obvious reasons (potential rape, rushed ending) but also for the failing to explain why Tom had spent hundreds of hours in the Grease Monkey program in the first place. On the one hand, good on Tom acknowledging he needed a change of pace, but the argument with B’Elana was straight up OOC. He was an asshole and he wasn’t possessed. Why? And it’s all resolved with a little cutesy scene? I don’t think so. I think B’Elana should have accepted his apology but said something like, ‘that doesn’t get you off the hook. There was something wrong before Steph abducted your body.’ I think root cause was reductive writing. Tom used to be a bad boy, let’s randomly dig that up for our plot - no need to explain. In universe, they could have gone with 1) Tom self-sabotaging his own happiness because he’s never had this kind of stability (root cause lie self esteem), or 2) Recurrent nightmares from the 19 days under Hirogen control - and Tom is ‘self soothing’ with a mindless pursuit, or 3) It’s a really boring part of space and his ADHD has never been treated Something.! But you don’t hide from your gorgeous girlfriend and perform in lackluster fashion for no good reason. Of course the better solution would have been to write a better dialog for the mess hall scene. With B’Elana. That is the scene that really was inexplicable. Just keep the denial part and being uncommunicative. Have B’Elana walk out because he’s not telling her what’s wrong. The harsh pushback was all wrong.

Dee McGee

My favorite scene is the one between the Doctor and Faux Paris in sick bay.

Joy Nishida

It’s great foreshadowing when you spoke about what B’Elanna does for fun (“turns the safety protocol off and does dangerous stuff like that”). I think that’s the episode when the Delta Flyer is born! (I think!)

Rich Gross

LOL!!! I love when during Robbie’s rewatch the camera pans from the TV showing the scene with the doctor and the joke about hair, to the artwork on his wall and looks like a big bald alien.

Rich Gross

Regarding Robbie’s comments about acting “big”: Wasn't that just kinda the way acting on TV was done then? I don’t remember watching too many shows during the 90s that were done with a lot of subtlety.

Andrew Murray

Robbie doesn't remember any of "his" eps except the one he'd like to forget ...? i.e. "Threshold" ?I

Andrew Murray

The ep should be "The Wrath of Torres".

Andrew Murray

not so much shape-shifter as mind-shifter. "changing of minds" a trope done a thousand times before - I think the Jamie Lee Curtis/Jodie Foster "Freaky Friday" was the first movie I saw with the "mind swap" concept.

Andrew Murray

Isn't Janeway's security code "Janeway-Pi-1-1-0"? Practically everyone knows that!

Andrew Murray

You'd think with looping the dialogue, actors would have the ENTIRE script (or at least the scenes) so then you have some context. I mean even if it's only dialogue, there's some acting involved to carry through the emotion of the scene.

Andrew Murray

Is tom's attitude (late for shifts, general "I don't want to be here" stuff leading up to his 30 days in the Brig? In order to flush-out a traitor (or is that an early-season plot, concerning seska and the Kazon?)

Andrew Murray

I thought by this time Tom and Torres were even working different shifts - so they never see each other. Hence the bad moods coming from both of them.

Andrew Murray

The mind swapping everyone back by the Doctor to normal is a mystery. Even Stargate SG-1 had that device where everyone switched bodies and then played a pot-luck game to try and reshuffle each person's mind back to their own body, but such a thing in Voyager here would waste screen-time I think. Tom would like to be the Doctor....but not the 'trainee' medic/nurse?? ha ha. One more comment (!) I think Fairhaven and Captain Proton took over as the main holo-scenarios this point forward.

Andrew Murray

Tom would like to be the Doctor....but not the 'trainee' medic/nurse?? ha ha.

Andrew Murray

Tom-as-Harry at Ops (and already a Lieutenant...) and Harry-Tom (still an Ensign) at the Conn would be interesting. Or would it be ENSIGN Paris and LIEUTENANT Kim?

Stephanie

My big problem with this episode is that if we agree she had nookie with Faux Paris she was raped, and that is really not something you are going to shrug off and not have repercussions with. Tom was also violated and again at the end, Oh well, all is good. So I guess that is my biggest problem with some of the Star Trek episodes, is that really traumatic things happen but there is never any follow through. I think it is a missed opportunity to add depth to the characters.

Tashicat

flushing out the traitor was a couple seasons back but we havent done "30 Days" yet so maybe thats true

Lisa Minnesma

Hearing the behind the scenes and the technical aspects and just the acting opportunity to play a different character within a character was interesting for this episode! However, what was implied with faux Tom & B’Elanna in her quarters STILL makes me feel sick 😣😖. Poor B’Elanna! 😣🙈

sab ewell

THIS. Which is why the question about what happened. I still hope they were interrupted and the faux Janeway was just baiting him

Samantha

I think you guys trying to keep track of everyone was more entertaining than the actual episode. My favorite part is Roxanne's delivery of 'camaro.' lol I gotta disagree on the scene where the captain confronts Tom. I liked it. It fires my imagination. Her soft spot for him, and then him starting to go off the rails and then Seven reports this. Like a personal betrayal. Her feeling a little exposed. idk. It makes it feel very layered.

Janet Potts

This is one episode that could easily have been expanded to a 2-parter. Part 2 would be about how to return everyone to their rightful bodies and exploring the emotional ramifications that all that swapping has done.

Stephanie Baker

At the end in the ready room and sickbay Janeway is in Paris’ body. Paris-out/Janeway-in never wakes up but there is a shot of him/her on a bio bed. Robbie got to play 3 characters in this ep.

Lisa Minnesma

Mine too! I wonder if it was phonetically spelt like that in the script or if that was Roxann’s genius acting!

Miki Tracey

I never liked this episode....there were so many places where the technobabble could have been shared, pulling Harry in, or B'Elanna ; where the change is out of the blue; where the whole concept of somebody living your life is a bit squicky. And then...shouldn't a holographic box wrench have disappeared upon leaving the holodeck. Also, I wonder if the Coaxial warp drive will show up in the Delta Flyer?

Irene Artho

Isn't it just very convenient for Steth that Tom took his own real tool box to the holodeck rather than storing it in the holodeck as part of the program? :D Also - why are Seven and Harry randomly wandering around on the ship, conveniently both of them on the same deck (out of 15) and area as Tom, ready to bump into him? I assume they are going for walks after their shifts - maybe on their way to their quarters - but the location and timing seems very convenient on what is not a small ship.

Janet Potts

The confrontation between Faux Paris and Seven Of Nine does, indeed, take place in the mess hall because in the next scene Janeway says she checked the mess hall replicator records and verified (Faux) Tom had replicated 5 alcoholic beverages. I'm assuming that Faux Tom was there in between meal times when it would be more likely that the mess hall was empty.

AM Marquez

HOW 'BOUT THEM DAWGS????

Moonglade

I always enjoy this episode, didn't even think of the faux having nookie with Torres when I first watched it. The scene with Steth-Paris and Janeway in the Ready Room, I've always thought it was the real Janeway choking the faux Paris, cos that's just so Janeway to flip him (Steth) and attack him to stop him taking her ship :D

Mister T

This was one of the worst episodes of Voyager

ST Fan CB

How unusual that we have an episode with a straight up rape in it and we get nothing from the boys except joking about it at several points in the podcast. There was no compassion at all for Torres or righteous indignation about what happened. This is a complete 100% script flip. 69 Mustang Fastback is my dream car.
