And what this really reinforces is the point Felix was making about pols on the breakfast club. They don’t sound like they’re friends with anyone or real people. 30:00 ME/CFS is a real disease, but because it affects primarily women and the symptoms aren't generally visible, are hard to diagnose and don't have a discernible (testable) cause, it's often treated as psychosomatic or misdiagnosed as depression etc. Now long covid seems to present similar symptoms in a similarly unknown way (no tests, no obvious cause, only diagnosed thru symptoms), maybe we'll see more investigation into it. Thanks, came here to say this. I'm a man with ME/CFS and I've been homebound for going on seven years now. It's ruined my life in a lot of ways so it bugs me when people treat it like a joke. Also while it does get diagnosed through symptoms (check out the International Consensus Criteria) that's largely because there are so few experts. There are tests that can be done which reveal all sorts of insane things going on. There's the two day CPET which is an objective test (but unethical to do because it can make someone worse) and there are all sorts of blood tests that can show up biomarkers and abnormalities, then there are MRIs, CSF tests, NASA tilt table tests etc. I've had them done and they all showed up a lot of fucked up things going on in my body.
