Having had a chance to meet the USMC in Downtown LA this Saturday I can tell you this military is ready to lose another Middle East war. Compared to LASD and the DHS goons the Marines were scrawny and too skittish to stand up to more than 30 minutes of angry liberal abuse before being redeployed. Can't march, can't guard a prison. To Felix point about the backbone of fascism in the past to now. My great grandfather was 18 years old in 1914 he fought in the Austrian army in the isonzo battle bayonet charges. Russia and China have both explicitly condemned Israel as a direct act of aggression, and provided Iran survives domestically (I.e doesn't collapse) both will almost certainly be helping. Israel has 0 chance to win unless the US gets involved directly.

The entire Zionist project relies critically on the idea that they can expropriate the region of life, liberty, and property with impunity without fear of recourse while expecting the same quality of life as the west. That relies entirely on the illusion that the Iron Dome can protect their state from consequences. There is a reason that Israel has blocked evacuation flights out of Ben Gurion airport to prevent a Fall of Saigon style rush out of the country once they experience a consistent bombardment. For Israel to truly win they would have to succeed at effectively dismantling the Iranian government and having the US or one of their proxies occupy their territory. Meanwhile all Iran has to do is demonstrate that the idea that Israeli's missile defense system is some sort of forcefield is an illusion, and gravity will do all the work for them in defeating their whole settler-colonial project.

Apparently a lot of Jewish Arabs are being killed. Which would seem to indicate that Israel has deliberately placed much of their weaponry in those Arab Jewish communities. Very noble country. Israel has placed a blockade on images of the damage to military assets. Presumably Iran would like to widdle the defenses down to allow for constant low cost barages being successful. Haven't heard from Houthis since the attack on the airport. If the US gets involved, China or Russia would presumably like to do the same thing the US is doing in Ukraine. There are good empires and there are great empires. China in my opinion is not a great empire. Great empires don't just meet the moments, they create them. From what I've seen, China hasn't done either. Of course, if the US moves out of the China Sea and it takes Taiwan, then maybe they have a chance at becoming one a the greats. People say oh they're behind the scenes, oh they're bein sneaky. GREAT empires make sure to let you know they're on the stage. In this new generation there are no great empires as such. Perhaps there never will be again.

I mean Russia is saying that now, but a version of Syria (massive refugee crisis, widening gyre of chaos pulling in the rest of the region, ISIS/US proxy force playground) right on the Caucases would be an existential disaster on par with NATO in Ukraine. If that starts looking likely I'd expect them to reorient fast. That being said, if it remains an air war between Israel and Iran without direct US intervention, I don't think that works for Israel. Iran simply has more cities, people and domestic industrial capacity to lose in a war of attrition.

Oh yeah, Russia would absolutely PREFER to intervene, it threatens a lot of their core interests, but they're just not capable of it right now - would distract too much from Ukraine. At this rate it looks like Israel can probably maintain an air war for as long as the U.S. is willing to supply them unless we see some major surges of anti-air equipment to Iran, but those would probably have to come from China at this point, Russia doesn't have much to spare (and it could be easily taken by the U.S. as justification to intervene directly). Just haven't seen any signs yet of Iran reconstituting their air defenses to give me confidence they can turn the tide on the air war tbh, you'd expect to have seen a few successful ambushes by now with how frequently the Israeli are operating over the country

So… if we’re all supposedly under some cosmic overlord’s influence anyway, then clearly nukes don’t actually protect sovereignty, do they? But seriously, look at Latin America in the modern era. Countries like Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico—even with all their problems between each other and rhe US, they’ve all maintained sovereignty and independence without fuckin nukes. Brazil especially has become a major regional power through economics and diplomacy, not nukes. Your Pakistan example actually backfires—yes, they have nukes, but they’ve also had multiple military coups, ongoing internal conflicts, and constant external pressures. Having nuclear weapons didn’t prevent their political instability or make them truly ‘sovereign.’ Meanwhile, countries like Costa Rica abolished their military entirely and are doing just fine. Switzerland has been neutral and sovereign for centuries without nukes. Singapore punches way above its weight diplomatically and economically. Point is sovereignty comes from other shit like strong institutions, economic developments, smart diplomacy—not from having the biggest dick in the room.

If China tells Israel and Iran "if either of you knuckle heads use nukes, you are a threat to world security, and China will act immediately and forcefully to contain any rogue nuclear armed state" then I will say MAYBE they are still in. On what Felix said on SEAD ops. I follow the Russo-Ukrainian war a lot being Russian and thats what the VVS strategy has been. Saturating AFU AD with Gerans or old Soviet era ballistic missiles. Then when they are overloaded or out of countermeasures lighting them up with the Gucci shit they have. Like what Seamus said I think is a misread, the US already has pretty much given up in Ukraine on providing AD support, obv the Israelis come before Ukraine in getting them but if in a single night the AFU or IDF shoot a years worth of American AD production then their is only so much that can be given. American manufacturing of the munitions becomes the key bottleneck then. If the Iranians can keep suppresing SEAD then eventually Iran in theory coukd attack with much less interference only worrying about whats shot down by fighter jets as they come in.

Losing hydrocarbons from Iran is a problem for them but short of that I don’t think they give a crap. They’ll give some platitudes about the importance of the UN, of respecting state sovereignty, that’s probably it. Same response they had initially to Russias invasion of Ukraine. Or to the NATO operation in Libya where they even gave it their blessing, IMO, by abstaining rather than vetoing in the security council.
