Church Tileset (Elements) (Patreon)

Hello, today's release is a set of tiles that ended up being much bigger than originally planned. On top of that, these tiles are free for everybody.

You might remember these old church add-on releases for the original Time Fantasy style:

Some of these have been revisited before- notably, the church building was eventually remastered and expanded into the core building tiles for the TF Steampunk set, with a base brick texture that was a core of the TF series and was even remastered into the small-bricks used throughout the Elements sets. I'm pretty sure I've re-used the bells at one point or another, too.

It was time to revisit this theme for the Elements series, and the original idea was to make a little remake/remaster... and of course, I ended up expanding on them significantly!

The end result is a set of new tilesets that will be a key addition to the Elements series: specifically it will work nicely as an add-on for both the Hometown tileset and the Castles+Catacombs set.

Also: this set features some new "core textures" that I expect to re-use going forward with the Elements tileset series. Notably: the larger brick walls from the church exterior, the new wood floor texture, and the detailed carpets, will certainly be useful in future tilesets (especially when we visit Rome for an imperial capital set later in the year).

Special Note:

The icons featured in this set are not intended to be specific (let alone accurate). They are generalized representation of imagery found in the Church, and other churches across multiple traditions. I've taken care to keep the detail to a vague "equilibrium of imagination" that's possible in this resolution-scale of pixel art.

Knowing that users of these tiles will put their own meanings into the images here (including the trope of churches-as-dungeons in fantasy-medieval settings), and that the real Church is the people and not a building: it's important to note that this set of tiles could be more accurately called a churchlike-environment.

There's two tilesets here, in all three magnification scales (1x for general use, 2x for RPGMaker VX/Ace, and 3x for RPGMaker MV/MZ). I included all of them together into one .zip file.

Note for RPGMaker users: These sheets will work as complete B-layer sets, but you can also copy them onto 'terrain-layer' A5 sheets, if that'll be easier to work with. Specifically, the left half of the interior set can be cropped and used on its own as a "tileA5", as it contains the floor and wall textures.
