Human variants were generally pretty damn rare, as humans were so versatile in the first place. The human race could support most Paths, and regular skills tended to be enough, even allowing some physical changes.

Importantly, having a variant human race wasn’t ”better” than just being a standard human. Jake was now a variant human, but his race gave the exact same stats as any other human, and no matter which human variant one got, those stats would never change. The stat allocation could change, but the total wouldn’t.

Carmen also had a variant race; even though she still simply Identified as [Human], her variant likely granted far more physical stats than mental ones, courtesy of her Runemaiden Path. The biggest change with the variant human races tended to be found with what race skill they got upon evolution, as could be seen with Jake’s utterly overpowered Primal Spirit of Man.

Usually, the skill wasn’t necessarily better either, just more specialized. Again, same as with Jake. Some Spirit of Man skills were clearly better than others, so there was some variance there, with Jake having clearly gotten the best one he could imagine.

Even so, these variant races had very little impact on one’s Path compared to classes and professions, and were more an expression of one’s existing Path than a change in it. In instances like hers and even Jake’s, they remained human through and through despite their variance, at least enough so that their race name didn’t change.

Arnold was slightly different. Upon laying eyes on the scientist, Jake instantly knew his variant evolution was different enough to even warrant a name change, something Identify quickly confirmed.

[Void-Touched Human – lvl ???]

It wasn’t surprising that Arnold had a skill to hide his level, either. A strong one at that, as with Jake’s Perception, he could usually get around those kinds of things.

What did surprise Jake a little was that Arnold didn’t seem to have any physical changes despite now being a Void-Touched Human. At least it didn’t appear like he had at first, with the scientist standing there with his back turned.

”You also evolved,” Arnold stated as he turned around while continuing to tinker with the weird pyramid in his hand. Parts of it could be turned and shifted, making it look like a fun fidget toy, though Jake assumed it was far more than just that.

”Indeed. And so have you,” Jake also stated the obvious. ”Into a variant race no less.”

Arnold nodded in confirmation. ”I estimated the merits of doing so to outweigh any demerits it might cause.”

”Fair enough, though it does make me curious. What’s the difference? You look the same from where I’m standing,” Jake asked. Granted, Arnold was wearing a scientist’s robe and what looked like super-nerdy sunglasses that would have been fashionable fifty years before integration. They were very square.

”Physiological differences look minimal from a cursory inspection, however…” Arnold began as he took out a scalpel from his spatial storage and proceeded to casually cut off a finger. Jake expected to see blood or at least something, but instead, the cut-off finger disappeared into nothingness the second it lost contact with Arnold’s body. As Jake looked at the stump left behind, he saw it was just a pure black color for a few seconds before a new finger seemingly popped into existence out of nothing.

”As you can see, I do not appear to be a fully biological creature anymore,” Arnold explained. ”However, I am still human; it’s simply that most of what was flesh before has been replaced with energy constructs created from the void. I still possess a heart, lungs, brain, reproductive organs, and even if my digestive system is mostly gone, I retain the ability to consume foodstuffs.”

Jake had not expected such a thorough explanation, and he had many follow-ups. ”What’s the advantage? Are your energy construct parts easier to heal or more durable?”

”They are far simpler to reconstruct, yes, but as for durable, no, my resilience has dropped significantly. Fortunately, my important biological parts as well as my Soulshape are in a state of void-entanglement, making them exist both within the void and inside my body simultaneously, making healing those simple, and even in the event of this body being destroyed, I can easily reconstitute everything once more.”

”I take it the demerit of this being the case is that your body doesn’t have the integrity to perform any physically demanding tasks?” Jake asked with a raised eyebrow, having some idea of what kind of variant human Arnold had become.

”Indeed,” Arnold confirmed. ”From initial tests, even weaker C-grades are capable of doing serious damage to my body with physical blows, and if I attempt to strain my body, it risks falling apart, making any direct combat out of the question.”

In other words, if someone like Jake had Arnold’s human variant, he wouldn’t even be able to fight anymore. His arm would dissolve whenever he attempted to shoot an arrow, and trying to hit someone with a katar would be useless, as he didn’t have a physically strong enough body to leverage the blow.

”How about energy attacks?” Jake wondered.

”Roughly equivalent to before,” Arnold answered. ”To clarify, I find physical attacks easiest to deal with, as healing any damage is far simpler than addressing harmful energies draining my resources. I’ve found that magical blows have a larger impact than physical ones, though it naturally depends on the potency of each attack and any concepts imbued.”

”Let’s say your body is fully destroyed. How do you regenerate? And can you somewhat control where a wholly new body will reappear, or is it always in the exact location where it was initially destroyed?” Jake began to ask the kinds of questions he wasn’t sure Arnold was going to answer. He was curious, though, as he remembered this was one of Eron’s big weaknesses and how Jake had gotten the upper hand by trapping him in their ”fight” during the Treasure Hunt.

Surprisingly, Arnold didn’t hesitate to answer, seemingly giving away one of his big trump cards. ”No, I can choose to appear anywhere I sufficiently perceive and have a large enough presence. Due to how much of my being is imbued within many of the constructs in this room, I would be able to reappear here if my body were fully destroyed. Assuming the space I’m destroyed in isn’t fully isolated, or I suffer severe soul damage during the process of my body being destroyed, that is.”

”Damn,” Jake said, both due to Arnold actually answering that thoroughly, and because he could definitely see why this race variant suited Arnold nicely. Its downside would be devastation to someone like Jake, but Arnold wasn’t the kind of guy to pick up a sword and start hitting stuff. He instead made a big golem and gave that a sword to hit stuff.

”Seems like a good choice,” Jake nodded. ”Especially seeing as it doesn’t come with you turning into some eldritch monster. From what I’ve seen of your fellow void-attuned fellows, that tends to be their fate.”

”Unfortunately, I did not entirely escape physical alterations others might find mentally disruptive,” Arnold answered as he took off his pair of weird sunglasses. Instead of eyes, Jake saw two abyssal holes of swarming darkness that appeared to be filled with thousands, if not millions, of miniature eyes. Staring into them felt like staring at a heavily muted version of Oras, and while Jake wasn’t negatively affected, he did have a feeling that, should he stare too long, he would give himself a nasty headache.

Arnold didn’t give Jake the time to find out if he would, as the scientist put the glasses back on, fully covering the two holes peering into the void that were now where his eyes had once been.

”Yeah, wearing glasses is probably for the best,” Jake said with a nod. ”Unless you find yourself in a tricky situation. I could see an eye reveal having quite an effect if you pull your glasses off in the middle of a confrontation to buy you some time.”

”From my experiments, that is not a valid option,” Arnold shot down Jake’s brilliant idea. ”B-grades don’t appear to be affected, especially not when in a heightened state of awareness, such as in the middle of combat. Weak C-grades have shown themselves to faint when directly viewing my eyes, but even an average C-grade will instinctively look away, lessening any potential effects to near nil.”

”That sucks,” Jake muttered sadly. ”Does your new race have any other nice effects?”

”Plenty, but none that I believe are overly relevant to share. If you are questioning whether my capabilities have increased, then the answer is yes.” Arnold didn’t volunteer to share any more of his secrets, making Jake think that the scientist was definitely still holding out on him. ”I take it you have come here with some form of request, or is this merely a social call to announce your own successful B-grade evolution?”

”I do have a request, actually,” Jake said, figuring that if Arnold brought it up, he would gladly take advantage. ”My evolution was also quite nice, and one of the benefits is that I no longer require equipment that provides stats.”

”So you want armor focused wholly on increasing defenses or other non-stat effects to increase your combat strength?” Arnold instantly understood what Jake was asking for. The scientist didn’t seem surprised that Jake had gained a skill that no longer required equipment, either.

Neither Carmen nor the Sword Saint could get stats from equipment due to their skills, with the Sword Saint getting full benefits from wearing gear when wielding a sword, and considering Carmen was almost akin to a living piece of armor with that skin of hers, she naturally also had one. Jake saw no reason to mention that he had gained this effect as a result of his variant human race, as he still didn’t plan on sharing that he was a variant in the first place.

”Exactly,” Jake smiled as he waved his hand and took out his Voidblade Katar. The weapon had served Jake ever since he got it after returning from Nevermore in preparation for the Prima Guardian fight. ”I was also wondering if you could take a look at this again.”

”Certainly,” Arnold nodded as he waved his hand. Jake didn’t try to stop the scientist as the weapon disappeared from the hunter’s hand and appeared in Arnold’s. He looked it over quickly as he motioned for Jake to cut his connection with it, which he quickly did.

”If you can make it work similarly, that would be best,” Jake said, already happy with what it currently did.

The Voidblade Katar, despite being a legendary weapon, did nothing fancy at all. It was just a stupidly sharp weapon that was great at piercing through defenses due to it having a slight void affinity infused into the blade itself after being converted from Jake’s arcane affinity through whatever the hell kind of contraption Arnold had put in the handle.

With a level requirement of 275, even as a legendary weapon, considering Jake’s stats and level of power, it was extremely impressive that the weapon had remained not only useful, but excellent all the way until he evolved to B-grade. Never once had it been a limitation or made Jake fear for it breaking. Not before now, anyway, as with his new evolution, he was very confident the weapon was no longer good enough.

Fortunately, the same couldn’t be said about Eternal Hunger and his Apex Hunter’s Bow of the World Tree. Both weapons were capable of growing on their own, with Apex Hunter’s Bow growing simply from Jake’s own progress, and Eternal Hunger getting stronger every time Jake killed something and absorbed parts of his prey’s soul, empowering the Sin Curse within. They had also both benefitted here in the evolution and absorbed some energy – Eternal Hunger due to its link with Eternal Shadow – allowing both to get a great boost, making both instantly top-tier weapons even after Jake’s evolution.

”Very well,” Arnold said after inspecting the weapon for a little while. ”Regarding the equipment, I do not currently have anything suitable, but I can begin work on a set if an agreement of proper compensation is reached.”

Jake was about to say that he could reach out to Miranda and ask for what he wanted, but before he had the chance to, Arnold corrected himself.

”On further consideration, further compensation is not needed,” the scientist said. ”Sandy informed me that you had also wished to hunt down the former resident of this core chamber, so let us simply agree that this shall serve to equalize for me stealing your prey.”

”Sure, we can say that,” Jake quickly agreed. He’d already gotten over Arnold and Sandy killing the Ghostvine a long time ago, but it seemed like Arnold feared Jake was holding a grudge and wanted to do this to make them square. No reason to reject the man’s feelings.

Feeling in a good mood, Jake smiled as there was one more thing he wondered. ”Say, I take it you managed to get a fair share of mythical skills in C-grade, right?”

Arnold nodded in confirmation, making Jake grin as he followed up. ”Do you still have a fair share of mythical skills after evolving?”

”Only one was downgraded, and a relatively inconsequential one,” Arnold answered, crossing his arms as the man definitely remembered their little encounter after Jake had just evolved to C-grade.

”That’s great,” Jake nodded, his grin growing wilder. ”How about skills above mythical rarity? I assume you have at least one of those as well. Any downgrades there?”

Jake knew that there was no fucking way Arnold had any sacred skills, and even if there was another rarity above mythical, perhaps parallel to sacred just without the divine aspect, Jake seriously doubted Arnold would have managed to-

”No, all of them remained the same as before my evolution,” Arnold answered with a deadpan expression. ”To clarify, I even gained one such skill due to my new variant race.”

It took Jake a moment as he just stared at the mad scientist, not seeing a hint of jest on his face. Arnold wasn’t the type to joke to begin with, so unless his new skill was one that made him into an award-winning actor, he was telling the truth.

”What the fuck?” Jake exclaimed in pure disbelief. ”Is it a sacred rarity skill or something else?”

Jake knew he wouldn’t be able to know if it wasn’t sacred rarity, but if Arnold had one similar to Jake’s, his question wouldn’t be considered Forbidden Knowledge. Wait, maybe there was some special void-related rarity Jake didn’t know about… yeah, that was possible.

Arnold frowned as he shook his head. ”I believe you just attempted to share something considered Forbidden Knowledge. Interesting.”

”Okay, so not that,” Jake muttered. Okay, he was getting more and more certain it was something void-related, because if not, Jake would feel like a damn fraud. It only had to be one, though, right? He had to know. ”Say, how many of these skills above mythical do you have?”

The scientist looked in thought for a moment, perhaps checking his status, before answering. ”I do not wish to give you an exact number, but several.”

”Again, what the fuck?” Jake was seriously beginning to question everything. Was Arnold somehow the secret disciple of the First Sage, or what?

”I do not understand your surprise. These skills aren’t rare,” Arnold continued to talk casually. ”Upon further thought, I do not believe there are even D-grades without such skills, though of course effects and power vary despite them all sharing the same rarity.”

By now, Jake realized something was definitely wrong, but Arnold still looked as serious as before, and not at all like he was fucking with Jake. Just as he was about to ask what the man was even talking about, he suddenly understood.

”Please tell me you’re not talking about fucking unique skills,” Jake said in disbelief.

”Hm?” Arnold raised an eyebrow. ”Naturally. Unique skills are technically considered both a higher and lower rarity than mythical, as their power can vary near-infinitely, and it’s not at all unnatural for one’s most Record-dense skill to be of unique rarity.”

Jake just stared at Arnold for several moments, wanting to curse out the guy, and his deadpan expression plus absolute sincerity in his voice just made everything worse. A couple of seconds passed as Jake just sighed.

”Contact me through Miranda when you have any updates on the weapon and equipment. If you need anything, you can also ask Miranda,” Jake said, knowing he had been defeated this time around.

”I will,” Arnold nodded, either not noticing or not caring about Jake’s sudden mood shift. ”Do you plan on teleporting back to Earth, or are you flying?”

”Neither… though I guess this could count as flying,” Jake said as he summoned his Wings of the Malefic Viper. The plan was to head back to the Order of the Malefic Viper now, but he had one last thing he wanted to see if he could do first:

Make it all the way back to Earth using Wing’s escape function.

God's i love Arnold. The man has a direct line to my funny bone.

The Voidblade Katar, despite being a legendary weapon, did nothing fancy at all. (Isn’t it Blackpoint Nanoblade, and wasn’t it ancient rarity?)

Oh Arnold. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I believe he upgraded it to the Voidblade after Nevermore, just before the Prima Guardian event.

Gotta love Arnold haha. Thanks for the chapter boss

i shit you not, one second the chapter wasnt there so i refreshed and then it was there i clicked and there were 3 fucking comment how are you people so fucking fast

Thank u for the story

TFTC :) Suggested edits: "his spatial *courage* and " should be "storage" "Arnold had any sacred skills *or skills*," extra words.

Darshar Griffonmane

All I can imagine now is that Arnold is slowing evolving into Professor Farnsworth or Professor Fink... tyftc!

Corvid

Man, that was entertaining. Can't decide if Arnold was legit screwing with him in his own way or was just being sincere.

Mitha

Seeing this discussion from the perspecive of Arnold would be quite funny as well. The best POV of his was after El Hakkan a few hundred chapters back

BumAssBumAss

Honestly surprised Arnold hasn't reached sacred skills. He rivaled Jake in terms of mythical skills

Cyranosaurus

Arnold is a great addition to this story!!

Tyler S.

Tyftc; and while i thank you for adding in the line that Arnold is "scared" of Jake for taking his kill, it feels more like an Oras play. I feel Oras is still building Jakes goodwill to ask for something big in the near future possibly with the hidden faction antagonists. Love that Arnold is following Jake in the abnormal eye department

Boomer

So how exactly does Spirit of man synergize with his ring from the prima guardian event with it's effect of boosting the stat cap? Is this limit boost just from items or what because both SS and Carman had an effect from theirs now that their stats are brought up it seems relevant. Carman would be closer to Jake in this particular regard as she is getting her equipment stat bump from existing as a rune maiden.

malte willand

Uh doesnt Jake get more Stats than a standard human? IIRC he got a mash of classes and a Boni on 9 different stats, normal Humans only get a Bonus for 6 different stats by choosing 2 directions. Jake was now a variant human, but his race gave the exact same stats as any other human, and no matter which human variant one got, those stats would never change. The stat allocation could change, but the total wouldn’t.

guy nakache

Love Arnold teasing Jake back

mucky 12

Very creepy. Just the thought makes me feel abit nauseous. All those eyes pearing from the darkness within his skull. That is some eldrich horror shit right there! I always saw Arnold as abit of a geek. Nothing really to worry about. A threat to nobody. But just that alone makes him feel close to being a monster. I really wouldnt be suprised if he ended up becoming an antagonist at some point later in the future. Super curious on how he will evolve as the series progresses

Tyftc can't wait to see what cliff we get left on tomorrow. No doubt it will only make me wish for Monday to arrive sooner.

Arnold sharing his specs was pretty nice, also loving how Arnold is trolling Jake tyftc

I believe it was mentioned by Villy that sacred rarity is basically unheard of below A rank and rare below S rank. Jake is just that much of an outlier for having gotten one at C rank.

Okay from Chapter 1271 I am proven wrong or am I: Primal Hunter’s Spirit of Man (Unique)] – The spirit of mankind is truly multifaceted, allowing human versatility in all things. Humans have the ability to work together, operate alone, and adapt to any situation they might find themselves in, no matter the tools at hand. Alongside this personal excellence, they also carry the desire to pass down Records and nurture the next generation to surpass those who came before. Like you, humanity never stops moving forward. Never stop improving. It’s said that the spirit of man knows no bounds, limitless in possibilities. You embody all aspects beneficial in furthering your Path. Increases all experience gained. This effect is improved while hunting or working on profession-related activities. This effect is even further amplified when doing so alongside other humans. Allows you to pass down Records to others more easily. Increases experience gain of all those deemed your kin, comrades in arms, allies, partners, or subordinates. Increases adaptation to new environments, granting resistance to all environmental effects. Slightly increases resistance to all types of damage experienced by any other entities with the Spirit of Man. While not wearing adequate equipment that provides you with all the stats your soul can bear, you automatically make up the difference at the cost of slightly increased passive energy consumption, prioritizing physical stats. As you progress deeper onto your Path, your growth reflects it, and your body adapts: +10% to all stats. +15 to all stats per level in your race. This effect works retroactively (+10 all stats per level in C-grade, +5 all stats per level in all prior grades). Go forward, Primal Hunter, the Spirit of Man’s radiance glowing unrivaled within your being.

Sean

He didn’t have the first sage

Rui

i always saw Arnold as the "dark horse" of pinnacle talents from Earth. if i were to put all Earth "top talents" on a tierlist, i would put Arnold and SS at the same level just behind Jake.

malte willand

I trink I disagree with this:“but his race gave the exact same stats as any other human, and no matter which human variant one got, those stats would never change. The stat allocation could change, but the total wouldn’t.“. Because he gets more stats for Not having perfekt Equipment.

Derek Sellman

I think the way its meant is the actual stats from level up, not the stats provided by the spirit of man skill.

Eden

Hope he doeant qccidentally burn a hole in the planet

Wselby64

I wanna take a guess that after just uses the escape he is either going to overshoot earth and go to the other side or get stuck in the ground somewhere near the middle or earth

Emil

Now that he is much faster, he should really pop by his parents i little bit more often when he's on earth. If this dude gets stuck for years away from others, he might not ever see them again. Come on, jake!

Cajun Terror

Cliff hanger tomorrow is going to be some alone time with arti

Noah Mclelland

I think his talking about every race level, but the extra stat's come from the primal spirit of man skill, not his race directly

malte willand

Yeah I guess so. Still feel Bad for the Evolution with a myriad benefits to be compared to normal human Evolution options.

Numbzy

There is no way Arnold becomes an antagonist later on. He's outright stated that in a confrontation between them, he sees himself losing.

David

Agreed!!! I have thought that Arnold was scary as shit ever since C grade!

Nicodos 209

We don't know how rare skills above mythic grade without divinity are really, I'm pretty sure there'll be some opponent or current rival that will have one, but maybe it's rare enough that they'll only get it during B grade

David

Best chapter in weeks!!! Loved it!!!

Daniel Brian

I think Arnold was so free with his race specs because he knows being perceived as a threat to Jake is not a survivable state. Either that or Oras just told him to be open with him. I'm thinking the former.

Bookb0y

I love Arnold fucking with him without meaning to

Tyran

Wait... didn't wings take him several weeks of Sandy travel time against the chimera in C grade? Why is it such a big deal now?

Endern

I think only the Sword Saint will keep up with Jake in this regard. He will upgrade his transcendent skill on the non-divine branch.

Morazain

Answer: ... Yes Jake does make it back to Earth all the way to the centre of the planet where the pillar is. B grades be strong yo

Rad

A problem with a protagonist being a glass cannon is that glass cannons usually have some other character to protect them. Many stories have revolving casts and times when the protagonist has to go it alone. Being too squishy limits that creative freedom. And from the names I recognize from the glass cannons, they never became fully superior beings. They were humans with powers. All the bruisers I recognize are pretty much no longer human, even if they can appear to be one. When you transfer to cosmic scale BS, being able to be killed by losing focus a single time means you fail too often for the story to be reasonable. Then we get into plot armor and characters being too special.

Daniel Wells

Also Oras got that primeval energy out of the prior void lollipop which he seemed quite pleased with so I am sure he tells Arnold to remain on good terms with Jake. I also remember when El Hakan tried to poach Arnold that Arnold did not fear death from El Hakan but did fear the possibility from Jake hence why declined the offer

Josie

Doesn't Jake need to return his current armor to Arnold so Arnold can study it? 🤔 I thought that was the condition of Jake getting the armor he's currently wearing

ABTelford

That conversation was so fun! And Arnold’s eyes - YES! Even creepier than I was thinking!!! ❤️‍🔥

Kaladin12

The escape function on them maybe if I remember right. Basically a teleport I think

Shandlar

Sure, but with the intent to take the knowledge from them to work towards mass producing legendary C-grade chest and legs to sell for research funding and rarer materials. He didn't need then back for resources or records to roll into the next set like he does the void katar. He needs that back because the blade was made by an exceedingly rare void material that he wants to recycle into other projects.

Shandlar

Low C grade Sandy travel time. Plus the wings downtime is related to the strain of the escape activation. So if it takes him all the way back to Earth, that's expected and good. But if it does so and then is only disabled for 4 hours instead of 40 because it was an easy distance, that's worth testing.

Keion

I agree with others this chapter actually had substance cause honestly I’ve been debating dropping it until the chapters add up if I ever come back

Shandlar

Arnold is just absolutely absurdly perceptive, essentially. He knows Jake's no threat to him. Telling him his abilities so matter of factly actually demonstrably reduces the already low chance of being hunted by Jake even further. Jake wouldnt want to know his abilities if he wanted to fight. It would take the "fun" out of the hunt. Arnold absolutely recognizes this. I love his character so much. Hyperlogical character that's also hyper-aware rather than the normal dense as fuck trope is refreshingly original.

phil

I thought Arnold was talking about having multiple divine rarity skills for a second there lmao

Jake is so petty

This is in no way a criticism, just something I noticed: all the speech marks are the ones that point to the left-> ” (as opposed to being pairs “”) Didn’t affect anything at all but once I noticed it I felt compelled to mention it!

ThatGuy

He hasn’t been a glass cannon for a very long time

Manuel Costa

Yeah.. I'm definitely feeling the same. Cancelling and just letting the story run for a while. But indeed today was more satisfying, and the return to the order and conversation with Villy should be fun things to look forward to

blucube 14

Thanks for the chapter!

Corey bess

Arnold cares more about winning their skill competition than he let on. He knew what he did there.

Josie

Oh I thought it was Oras wanting to study Jake's arcane energy bc everyone wants to study our special boy lol

Kristoffer

They do tend to spend weekends together

Jack Dawson

In relation to the enemies he fights he's pretty squishy, but the new skill he got directly lowers his durability in exchange for boosted perception effectiveness and a lot of his combat skills get a boost from perception so he's incentivised to use it in combat

boffadeez

Yeah Arnold funny as fuck for that hahaha I love a lot of the characters in this story but everytime we chat with Arnold I love him more lmao

boffadeez

I don't think I'll ever cancel as I like feeling as tho I'm contributing to zogarth. However it would be sick if you got like accumulated rewards for being subscribed for certain periods of time like 3 years is what 360 bucks so when the new hard back came out you got like 1 free or a 50% discount or something. Like a rewards program or something idk.

boffadeez

I think it's both Arnold is just real as fuck and logical to a fault. So he knows what jake is doing and knows exactly how to mess with him without "trying to" making it more successful i find it hilarious

ShamLonk

spatial storage not courage when Arnold cuts of his finger lol

Emil Sørhus

Do keep in mind that they are e-grades, and have a lifespan of 2-400 years

Xavier

Jake’s use of Wings escape function won’t take him to earth but somehow to the World Wonder in the 93rd universe. Since the event has been practically waiting on him to evolve.

Xavier

Is what I think would be a cool twist anyway^ also down for more side character talks and Viper chapters

definitelynotbrjenness

theory 1= zog is the frister to mess with us theory 2 = zog releases it in his home country to allow them the honor of being frist.

DeAndrea H

I LOVED the description of his eyes. When you stare into the abyss…

DeAndrea H

I thought Jake’s armor from Arnold got destroyed fighting Yrelstromoz. Did I mis-remember or is it self repairing or what?

Madcats4

Which of Jake’s class skills got downgraded during this evolution?

DeAndrea H

I think he’s like that bird from the Pantheon who was smart enough that Jake is only a threat if he views you as a worth challenge. Telling him your new specs make you as fun as wet tissue paper to fight makes you unappealing and moves you to the background

Jip

Aight, so we got: Sword Saint->Aeon Bestest Birb->Stormild Jake-> Dangernoodle Casper-> Death Elf Jacob-> Mormon Mommy Unique Life form -> Big asf ULF Eron-> Multiversal Dalai Lama Punchy lady-> Punchy man And now: Arnold-> robo bug zapper William COULD serve for creepersmile I GUESS, but the only real connection there is karmic magic as he is no longer a nutso, and really not that strong. The wyrm god doesn’t really have a comparable person imo but maybe we just haven’t met em yet (or i just am missing someone) Big ass tree could be dina, but again, its a stretch as she’s powerful, sure, but not on the same level as the rest imo. What are yalls thoughts?

AngelusDaniel

spatial courage -> spatial storage

Fyrtue

Mostly things that he hasn't worked on if memory serves with the exception of his stealth attack skill. In the chapter before his profession evolution they cover everything I think.

Jip

Unrelated to my other comment: I am relistening to the audiobooks and yall ever notice how long the minaga labyrinth is? Nevermore starts in book 10 and ends about half way through book 12. Minaga some fucking how managed to take up chapter 9 through 57… 48 chapters of minaga. Thats the majority of book 10. Now im not complaining, but aint it just like minaga to just selfishly take a whole third of an arc to himself?

Fyrtue

Pretty sure it's self repairing.

Ryan Buck

Id love to see more Arnold POVs, his discussions with the orange fucker was my favourite

Fyrtue

That's an interesting note but if he fights while using his new Sight skill he does lose a lot of his innate defenses and based off last chapter it seems like he will doesn't so. I guess we'll see.

Fyrtue

Aren't they still traveling the multiverse with his nephew? I guess it's been a few years in the story since then but that was our last update on them after the dragon fight.

Fyrtue

He does get 45 extra stats per race levels and with how close he is to the theoretical max on his class and profession it puts him over the cap by a small margin.

Fyrtue

The SS also doesn't get stats from gear but an equivalent kind of like how Jake Spirit of Man works. As far as how they synergize, it seems complicated and not something Jake or Zog will ever fully hash out.

Boomer

Technically he gets all his stats from weilding his sword and has a more limited number of items he can equip from a conversation pre nevermore. But you know what that is actually a fair point.

Rune Reader 99

Well Arnold isn't actually aligned with the bug zapper at all, as he was blessed by the eldritch eye, and the Wyrmgod does have that one divine blessed dude we met briefly at the nevermore afterparty

Jip

True, but his link in my opinion is more through his technology usage and straying further from humanity, similar to how rigoria strew from the naruto sounding people. Rigoria the maker is it/her title and that seems to fit arnold very well.

ChickeWin

Millions of eyes are basically 3 eyes… with just a few more…. So technically my guess right his variant race was right mwhauauaua

Cory Smith

The Wyrm god does have a chosen he was revealed at the Nevermore afterparty. He is a S-grade.

Jip

True true, but the other 8 are sylphie and friends plus arnold. Where i was going was that it seems like jake is building a primordial-like group around himself. Yk? The blight father also has a chosen and im fairly sure stormild does too.

Cory Smith

Why do people come into the comments with "I was thinking about dropping" comments, like, NO ONE cares! If you want to drop then drop. Zog will do Zog, the world will move on. No one is forcing you to be here, so get gone if you are not enjoying it anymore! Ahhhh, rant over.

Keion

If ppl like or respond obviously there’s a reason we wouldn’t pay for the subscription if we didn’t like the books we’re all part of a fan base and a comments section is just to stroke his ego it’s for positive or negative comments from the consumer wheither u care or not i can comment

Bruno D. Alvim

come on, chapter 1272, just look it up

Josie

Genuine lol for the Holy Mother being Mormon Mommy 😂

zran

that's minaga for you! he will let you know he is the most awesone unique lifeform as much he can

Josie

I do see the tech similarities between Automata and Arnold, but I think it comes down to their drives (or Paths) don't align Rigoria was ironically created for survival and pushes to propagate and dominate Automata, leading to direct conflict and bitter war with the Endless Empire Oras is a nerd and wants to learn everything about the System Arnold's main drive seems to be his desire to understand how everything works, similar to Oras, and this drive leads him to pushing the limits of what he can invent. He has no inherent interest in war or domination that comes with Rigoria So while he could collaborate with Automata, I don't think he'd ever pick them over Oras

Hayden Leech

Show me the vespy!!! You better Bee-lieve that is she is going to be scary.

TwoScoops

Is Arnold going to turn the moon into a fully armed and operational battlestation with a void superlaser?

kandiana

It was 4 hours one way during the Prima event. And half a day to the moon before it "The space voyage ended up being relatively uneventful, taking only about four hours in total, with Sandy having gotten even faster since their moon journey despite literally dying."

Kota

"Selfishly"? Please, that's just nothing short of gracious, magnanimous even! For can there ever be a greater favour than being granted more time with the illustrious Minaga?

John Durrett

Arnold-> VOID Where Prohibited. :P

CT

I fcking love Arnold. Curious to see if we get Vespy reunion at the Order.

Hayden Leech

No! 93rd universe vespy where she has a solar system entirely terraformed lol.

kandiana

Skills work within the stat caps topping them to the system limits, ring adds up on top of the caps within the item limits. So their rings spend all the available points on the above the caps part. Basically, Jake gets 15% increase in stats from the skill and can get 5% more (but no more than some number dependent on the level) from the ring depending on what he is doing

Jip

😂😂😂

ZanSanCho

Tftc Zog! Damn bro, had us worried with Arnold there at the end XD

NicN

Tftc

Elijah Soleil

I think he’ll turn it into a full blown Death Star.

Cerby

You answered your own question I believe.

Asher Mack

Jake always so competitive with Arnold for some reason lmao

Yeslek Nnamhctits

This caused me psychic damage. Fans gonna fan, but damn, that is some direction you took with someone who is clearly blessed by another.

Kuniku778

I believe its because arnold is at his level on concepts, not power but insights. Having so few equals in anything around his level leaves jake with, not many people for friendly competition.

Tamathon

Wait, did his nephew ever get a cool moon rock?!?!

Mikerz

I think it was implied when he visited his family after the moon visit. But not sure being outright stated

Toni

I love the fact Arnold seems oblivious to it

UNKNOWN

He did, he was worried about it being haunted though.

UNKNOWN

That's not a moon... Wait, that is a moon, just with a BFG attached.

UNKNOWN

I think Minaga has a patreon account

definitelynotbrjenness

while driving home, instead of paying attention, I thought up an ending for the series. Jake reaches godhood and has some adventures...some of which bring up the concern that the viper is fattening jake up for dinner. Take a time skip. Come back to a battle between jake and villy. Villy ends up winning and looks down at jake and says, " you got the battle you dreamed of. unfortunately, you weren't ready " villy reaches down and removes his prize from jake and opens the storage box and takes out a golden leaf to place on jake's corpse. the viper then quickly removes his arms and legs and places some wounds on his body before laying down next to jake with two Katars in his chest. when jake opens his eyes he sees an unconscious viper next to him. "damn, nearly had him that time."

Josie

Since we're talking about the solar system, is a day on Earth still 24 hours? Is a year 365 days? Everything's Texas-sized now so.. 🤔

Nano

Currently listening to book 13 and yes it was out right stated he gave him the rock and explained the moon was haunted

Matthew Hay

He's a mad scientist with rights to make the whole moon his base. He absolutely has to make a death star laser

ABTelford

I think it was mentioned early on that the day was still the same length somehow due to system F-ery most likely.

ABTelford

Haha! I totally disagree but that if a fun idea! 😁

DefinitelyNotMinaga

Death Star for sure, except this one will be constantly upgraded knowing Arnold.

Josie

😂 I can't wait for when god Jake is finally strong enough to go out and stir up trouble with Villy all around the multiverse. They'd be hooligans. Complete menaces. And ahh they'll probably prank the hell out of each other Maybe we'll see it by 2050 😭

Zogarth

As Kandiana said, the ring still gives him stats as it has the unique function of allowing him to go beyond the usual limit... in fact, part of the reason why I gave it was due to this coming in B-grade (which may be a minor spoiler that the ring may stick around for a good while).

thkiwow

I like how the author explains any inconsistancies with "system fuckery probably". Perfect explanation.

definitelynotbrjenness

Zog is holding the reveal of the golden empire until sometime Jake is about to face an army when a shitload of high level beasts start showing up on the battleground. Jake thinks a third force has joined the fracas until Groot shows up and says it's his followers he's helped.

definitelynotbrjenness

Or Jake is about to lose the vote for the wonder, but wins in a surprise landslide victory because of the beast representatives that no one knows are led by the golden groot.

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter

Tamathon

Wait I’ve gotta ask, unrelated, has Jake’s fam met Sylphie yet, like a welcome to the family meeting??

Carl Never

I dont think his parents have but caleb did

DefinitelyNotMinaga

I think you may be on to something here :) Truly insightful.

WaxDinosaur

He gives Batman vibes. Like, he’s not supernaturally powerful, but he’s smart enough to know how to build contingencies in the event that he did need to fight SS or Jake, he’s got to have found a way to at a minimum escape, but maybe even give himself some chances to win if things worked out. Idk… he’s smart enough and clearly has enough money/access. Also smart enough to do whatever he can to avoid that fight. Would not be a fun enemy to have

WaxDinosaur

are you purposely spelling it “frist”? I count 3 up to this point I’ve seen from you so I’m getting the feeling it’s on purpose

Dhia

i say frist? i think i got too reliant on the autocorrect

Dominic Smallwood

I wonder if the rock might be the precipice of his path, it would be cool when we finally get to see him after so much time. Maybe a space or occult class.

Madcats4

Never mind. I completely forgot that it had already happened.

_mori

Fracas? Groot? Golden empire?

definitelynotbrjenness

I identify as a person so important that correct spelling and remembering names is beneath me. Fracas=fight Groot= golden king/golden emperor Golden empire= the faction in the earth alliance made up of the followers groot. Recently expanded to include many planets controlled by united tribes who seek closer alliance with earth,

Joe

If the core of the earth is still at the same speed, a day would still be a day. Only the relative velocity on the surface would be a lot faster, yet gravity would be stronger due to more mass. So, I believe inertia could be near constant to before. That would sure affect the moon, pulling on it more, though.

joker ledger

nope, his family except Caleb only met Sandy that one time when the worm come to pick him up for the moon trip. They haven't met Sylphie or Vesperia yet.

Sera

Roughly 2054 by my calculations

Remzi

I think i have a serious problem with "the primal hunter" books, i love the audio books alot, just finsihed the last one. 13 i think, and im back to staring them again, into book 3. I find each time , i pick up some tid bit i missed in my 1st listen. im sure I have some warpped addiction but i love the story and the voice in the audio book really helps me during my commute. or relaxing before bed. I use the patreon to keep up with whats coming down the pipe. i can hardly wait for book 14 and beyound to hit audio book. anyway, I hope to see Jake well into godhood and beyound , this story is really good.

fm

"knowing he had been defeated this time around." how did jake lose against arnold here ?

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Right!!!? Im sorry but jake Having Just ONE Skill at [ Sacred ] Rariety Beats ALL of Arnolds [Unique] Rariety Skills hands down......PERIOD

Fylbrom

As soon as Jake leaves Arnold, his real body hidden somewhere on the moon, will grin slightly and whisper under his breath "get fucked!"

Arieh Sochaczevski

Arnold didn’t win that one. He might think he did, though I suspect he can guess that Jake was talking forbidden knowledge.
