“I’m not saying it couldn’t have been smoother, but it was definitely a success in my mind,” Jake shrugged, not really seeing the big problem.

“Reports were that someone had attacked,” Lillian said, sitting behind Miranda’s desk. The Verdant Witch herself wasn’t on Earth at the moment, but had surprisingly gone to the Order of the Malefic Viper ahead of him to do some stuff with that Godqueen witch trio who blessed her. That left Lillian to handle day-to-day business, including dealing with Jake.

“Just tell people I was doing a little bit of experimenting,” he simply answered.

Jake still didn’t see any issues. Had he created an enormous crater only a couple of dozen kilometers outside of the city limits because he had come in a bit too hot after using Wings of the Malefic Viper to near-instantly warp back to Earth? Sure, but it wasn’t like he’d hit anyone.

In Jake’s mind, the far more important thing was that he had successfully traveled all the way from the moon to Earth in less than half a minute. That was faster than the pre-system speed of light, though, considering how the Wings escape function worked, it wasn't like he had actually moved that fast.

Of course, it wasn’t exactly a reliable means of travel, and it was still far from accurate, with Jake more or less only able to pick a direction. Without his ridiculous senses, Jake would have ended up appearing either inside or behind the planet, though he reckoned the energy drain of trying to travel through the celestial object would have forced him to reappear somewhere around halfway through.

That’s to say, the range of Jake’s Wings escape feature was actually further than the distance between Earth and the moon. Granted, it was mainly because most of his travel was through space, but still. A part of Jake wanted to test his range more, but alas, he couldn’t even summon his Wings since he’d used the escape function.

“If I tell them you were experimenting, people are going to swarm the crash site,” Lillian said, shaking her head.

Jake frowned. “Why? It’s not like I left anything there.”

Lillian just looked at Jake for a moment before sighing, giving off very much the same vibes as Miranda usually did. “Because it was created by you, giving it significance to some people. Earth is not lacking members from the Order of the Malefic Viper or even those from the Primordial Church, and in their eyes, a random crater made by you is worthy of being considered a holy... or, I guess, malefic site.”

“Oh,” Jake muttered, feeling very weird about that.

“For reference, I believe a good portion of the potions you provided before your evolutions were bought up by religious followers of the Malefic Viper, or those who were simply personal fans of yours. Even the empty bottles have been going for unreasonable prices, and before Miranda left, she even had Holstred shut down a group of grifters selling random mana potions sold alongside a so-called certification of authenticity claiming they were made by you,” Lillian shared a funny fact that Jake didn’t find very funny.

“On second thought, maybe just make something up,” Jake sighed, not even wanting to imagine a world where people would have picnics and hold religious ceremonies at a random crater Jake had accidentally made due to a lack of speed control.

“That was the plan,” Lillian nodded as she tapped a small information crystal on the table with her fingers. “Miranda left some notes before leaving, quite a few of them regarding how to deal with incidents caused by you.”

“See, I don’t like that she felt the need to do that.”

Lillian just looked at Jake for a few moments before he smiled awkwardly.

“I guess it can’t hurt, though,” he muttered in defeat. “But hey, I also plan on going back to the Order now, unless there’s anything you need me for?”

“No, things are pretty calm these days, with most of those capable of creating issues for you to get involved focused on making the final push to B-grade. Even if we needed help in that regard, there are others who could step in,” Lillian answered. “Personally, I wouldn’t have anything against some minor issues popping up; this role as acting City Lord is also a great opportunity for me.”

“I would think your profession was already way ahead of your class,” Jake said with a raised eyebrow.

“It was, but fortunately, I do not need to actually fight and kill foes to level my class, but similarly to Miranda, I can get by with deepening my understanding of magic and the underlying concepts. Due to recent bouts of inspiration, my class progressed surprisingly quickly, so I’m working on the profession,” Lillian answered.

“Sounds like giving you that Lucenti Mage class wasn’t all too shabby a decision,” Jake smiled. He had done it without thinking much, not even knowing how good the class actually was, but it definitely seemed like it was a good one, and a great fit for Lillian.

“And I’ll be eternally grateful,” Lillian returned his smile. “Speaking of, I could use your advice regarding something. While it hasn’t become pertinent yet, from what I know, the goddess behind the Lucenti affinity will probably become aware of me, assuming I successfully evolve to B-grade. Based on the research I’ve done, that is. There is a non-zero chance that, should she know, I may be offered a Blessing by her or one of her followers, which would naturally be the best fit for my class. However, I also fear it may create a conflict of loyalty.”

Jake frowned a little as he considered her question. “From what I know, the goddess behind the affinity, as well as her small faction, is affiliated with the United Tribes, right?”

“Indeed,” Lillian confirmed. “She leads one of the tribes making up the United Tribes.”

“Yeah,” Jake nodded slowly. As the name suggests, the United Tribes was composed of many smaller factions who, together, faced larger threats and operated diplomatically. As a faction made up entirely of monsters – more accurately, beasts - and their offspring in the beastkin, the goddess behind the Lucenti affinity was naturally also a beast.

“Honestly, I’m not sure I’m the best to ask. In my view, Blessings seem more like a transaction. It’s an investment with an expected return that benefits both sides if everything goes well. However, I also understand that’s not actually how they work, and it would definitely be perceived as you being related to the United Tribes if you got a Blessing from one of their leaders,” Jake said, considering the matter.

“Precisely,” Lillian nodded. “Yet at the same time, I would feel like a fool for rejecting a Blessing that would give Records clearly benefitting my Path. Especially if the Lucenti Monarch herself offers me her Blessing.”

“Quite a conundrum, huh?” Jake admitted, but after thinking for just a little while, his answer was clear. “My take is that you shouldn’t need to think about things like that. Do whatever is best for your own Path and what you believe is best for you. People may question it, but so what? As long as you don’t turn into some mad fanatic preaching the supremacy of the Lucenti Monarch, we’re good.”

“Considering my repeated exposure to your presence, I doubt that’s gonna happen,” Lillian smiled. “Thanks for the advice, and I won’t hold you up any longer. Though you are free to say if you want to help me through these recent proposals for-“

“Would you look at the time, got to go!” Jake quickly made his escape as he rushed out of the office building as fast as he could before he would actually have to act in any way like a World Leader.

He decided not to make any other stops before returning to the Order, though there were things he wanted to check out on Earth. Villy was definitely getting impatient by now, so without further ado, he made it back to his lodge and to the teleportation circle there.

Stepping onto the circle, Jake activated it and let the space magic do its work. With the help of his Patron, Jake was dragged through the void, having an uneventful and brief journey before arriving at his destination. He had originally planned on returning to his residence, but when Jake regained his senses, he realized he was in the Viper’s personal chambers.

Jake’s sphere spread out, allowing him to see more than ever before, and with a Pulse, he even got a look at some of the massive underground complexes that made up the Order of the Malefic Viper. Granted, he couldn’t actually see that much, as there was so much spatial expansion going on that everything looked warped and weird.

Speaking of weird... the Viper was already sitting on a sofa not far away when Jake arrived, beers on the table, with him already having one in his hand. That wasn’t the weird part, though.

“Why are you wearing a flamingo costume?” Jake asked in confusion.

“Not a flamingo, though you could argue this pink bird does resemble one,” the Viper answered.

“Why are you wearing an unspecified pink bird costume?”

“If I told you, I’d have to kill you,” Villy said with a serious tone, shaking his head.

“Those are real feathers, though, right?” Jake asked as he walked over, finding the costume genuinely impressive as he scanned it from head to toe. “Quality craftsmanship. Damn, even got the feet right.”

“Yeah, yeah, have your fun,” the Viper waved him off, giving Jake time to admire the Primordial’s outfit for a little longer. Jake didn’t need confirmation to know that this was definitely the result of the Viper losing some bet.

Jake purposefully spent nearly a minute carefully inspecting the Viper from head to toe while making comments on the costume before finally sitting down opposite the Primordial and popping open one of the beer bottles. Taking a whiff of the liquid inside, and based on his response from Sense of the Malefic Viper, he could instantly tell this alcohol was a lot stronger than what Villy usually gave. Perfect for a B-grade with Palate like Jake.

“Gotten it out of your system?” the Viper asked with exasperation.

“Yep,” Jake grinned in response. “I take it this place is entirely isolated from any outside observers?”

“Even Oras wouldn’t be able to peer inside,” the Viper said. “I’ve superimposed a part of my Divine Realm onto this space through a special formation. Can’t really seal off a space any better than that without fully separating it from the rest of reality. Though, if you ask me because you feel anyone observing right now, I would very much like to know.”

“No, no, I can’t detect anything or anyone, but better safe than sorry and all that,” Jake shook his head before taking a swig of the beer. It was definitely on the stronger side, but damn tasty. “I take it you have questions about my recent evolution?”

“I most certainly do,” the Viper nodded, fine with getting to the important stuff. “I noticed that I didn’t feel much with my Blessing change this time around. At least from my end, it doesn’t appear that you either deepened or weakened the karmic connection in any way, though I do detect a slight level of... disconnect, compared to before. My guess is that your new profession is less related to my Legacy than before.”

“And you would be entirely right,” Jake confirmed with a nod. “My new profession is partly diverted from your Legacy, though it still very much includes it. It just also has aspects of my abilities as a Harbinger of Primeval Origins now.”

“A good choice,” the Viper nodded. “Though I am of course a little saddened at seeing my Chosen not become a total fanatic who wouldn’t even consider choosing a profession that wasn’t entirely about my Legacy. Could you at least tell me that your class is a Champion of the Malefic Me variant?”

“Once more, I must sadly disappoint,” Jake said with a smile and a slight chuckle. “Did get one offered, though. Exalted Hunter-Champion was its name, though I have no idea what the exalted part means.”

“Exalted, huh?” the Viper said with a nod. “Impressive, though, considering everything with Yip and Nevermore, not that surprising. To clarify, having a class with exalted in it is an expression of both a sufficient number of people knowing about you as my Chosen, and your personal power and influence having to be greatly recognized.”

“I would think something like that mattered more for a profession than a class,” Jake frowned.

“Usually, yes. However, when someone is an Exalted Champion, it means that they have also become objects of worship in their own capacity, and due to that, you get access to something really cool: faith energy.”

“Now I’m happy I didn’t pick it,” Jake muttered, not being a fan of how that sounded. Firstly, because he thought that people worshipping him was fucking weird, and secondly, the last few mortals he met capable of harnessing faith energy were a False God and Ell’Hakan, two entities that hadn’t exactly left a good impression.

“I do agree it wouldn’t fit you, and it would be a waste to abandon or step away from the Path you are creating for yourself,” Villy nodded, having already emptied two bottles of beer by now. “But I take it both your class and profession are pretty damn awesome?”

“Wouldn’t have picked them if they weren’t,” Jake answered with a smile. “Can’t say which one is best, but I definitely think you’ll be interested in the profession. It’s still an alchemy profession as before, but as I said, it now includes Primeval Origins aspects. Most importantly, I can now do this.”

Holding up his hand, Jake conjured some Lesser Primeval Energy inside a sealed cube of stable arcane mana, the Viper looking on with genuine interest. Jake knew the god was doing something to inspect the energy inside, so he just sat back as a dozen seconds passed before the Viper spoke.

“An inferior form of your Primeval Origin Energy?” Villy asked.

“Indeed,” Jake confirmed.

“Is it wise to summon it like this? From my understanding, your Primeval Origin Energy is a limited resource that doesn’t regenerate as easily.”

“That’s the best part; the cost is so little that a small demonstration like this has no impact at all,” Jake smiled. “Sure, it is limited, but taking a droplet from a lake isn’t gonna affect anything. Besides, I just need to get more Records, and that droplet will be re-added.”

“I’ll trust your judgement,” the Viper nodded as he seemed in thought for a moment. “I can already begin to imagine the possibilities with that energy. I’m not going to offer any advice or ideas, but I will definitely encourage you to experiment. Hopefully, you’ve already figured this out, but having access to this Lesser Primeval Energy will allow you to relatively safely also learn more about your Primeval Origin Energy.”

“It was one of the first thoughts I had after reading the skill description,” Jake said, emptying his first bottle of beer before popping open another.

“How about that Path of the Heretic-Chosen skill?” the snake god asked curiously.

“Changed, but still there and the same for the most part. Not gonna share more than that,” Jake said a bit cheekily.

“Fine,” Villy waved him off. “I see no reason to ask you about your class, and while I do have some more questions related to your profession, I guess it’s time to address the behemoth in the room... your variant race evolution.”

Jake nodded as he motioned for the Primordial to ask away.

“Let me first set the scene. After you evolved, Records echoed throughout the entire Order, affecting everyone on a minuscule level that not even the other gods detected, but I felt it... including the fact that even those gods were affected. That, it turns out, they did notice, as gods are very sensitive to anything affecting their own Records. However, due to Shroud of the Primordial, they cannot track the source of this effect, so I kind of just said it was something I’d done,” the Viper set the scene before he continued.

“So, time for me to get my answer... what did you do? Was this truly the result of some special leadership-related Spirit of Man skill?”

“Yes and no,” Jake said as he leaned back. “Before I tell you, I’d recommend downing a few more beers. Should help lessen the shock as I unveil what might just be the most overpowered race skill any human in the history of humans has ever gotten.”

divine path: sacred => divine But ... chapter 1240: “Wait, what happens if you improve a mythical skill enough to get an upgrade without adding any divine elements?” non divine path rarity explorations, there should not be a lot of these because skill grades are relative: apex/pinnacle/supreme: we saw some of these for soulflames ? I like the apex for hunter, but doesn't really match Jake, see under beyond: to go even further beyond ! could be in relation to apex, like when Artemis and Jake talked about the balance of nature predator/prey, Jake is an outsider, this could be same feeling, a grade that acknowledge breaking of scale arcane/primal: customized grade similar to beyond, system agree you are op, so you get customized grade that has the same "name" ... arcane ... but you can give it custom name yourself, in this case primal transcendent/transcendental: could be a grade as in to transcend, no direct relationship to the bloodline/transcendence stuff, probably won't be to avoid this ambiguity heretical: Would make "sense", but I don't like it, positioning yourself as a heretic means acknowledging the divine, which is weird. Jake does his own stuff, even comparing would feel wrong. Like in the heretic curse from the insect queen, his bloodline just (would have, book 9 chapter 32) suppressed it. I suppose there should be a minimum of one of these and a maximum of two of these considering that there's already the "unique" scale which by definition is ... unique My brain says Pinnacle/supreme for after mythical but without divine My soul wants arcane/primal for after mythical, or even after (pinnacle/supreme or the correct name Zogarth will pick) because fuck the divine, i don't have to be immortal to be better than you

TheDwiin

TFTC! Also, yes I did Google how many light seconds away the moon is from Earth, why do you ask?

Thanks for the chapter and happy Friday everyone.

Damn cliff hanger I wanted villy's reaction

Not like it would matter here, shit got moved around in the tutorial

"a random crater made by you is not worthy " remove "not". It IS worthy. tftc

To be clear, he compared 30 seconds to "almost light speed"

Nice to catch up with Lillian again. Assuming the Lucenti beast goddess whoever she is doesn't screw this up it's a good opportunity to make a connection with one of Jake's people. We know the United Tribes are very interested in Jake so this could work out really well for Lillian, oops surprise divine blessing.

Dhia

Damn you Tyler for your enviable speed

Ooo we're speedrunning a bit here now, thx for the little fast forwards and slightly increased pace zog, this chapter really flew bye but still felt fluid to read. Also Miranda info drops are always appreciated, I always want to see more of her doing more order related or witch related stuff, I find the lagoon cool af to explore and the ritual aspect of her path also really cool. Would be nice if her and Jake did a joint ritual one day since they both share that aspect of their paths. Also villy in a flamingo suit was definitely something to imagine

Rick Delallata

Dang, didn't realize you were Jake until you started talking about being better than divine

Michael Fannon

That is a cliff. Not a giant one, but still.

BumAssBumAss

The Malefic viper wearing that outfit is definitely the bet from after he attained eternal shadow.

Connor

Thanks for the chapter

Sleep

It would be hilarious if villy shrugs him off saying valdemar got an even better one

Tyler S.

Would be interested to see Lilian be part of an experiment about bettering classes, specially if the goddess is a prick. Granted with how much the main beast tribes are trying to buddy up with Jake i dont see much conflict happening

MrRinger

Just to have the information possibly available, the moon is one light second away (thanks beer can). Which is pretty big considering you could stack the rest of the planets in between comfortably.

Ray Light

If it was Supreme or Pinnacle, the tier beyond it would not be Forbidden Knowledge. Otherwise, Jake wouldn't be able to know his Soulflame could even reach Supreme tier.

Kimesh

Nice chapter, really good stuff! Random question though. How does Haven look like? Still Treehouses? Is there anywhere a picture available? I can not really imagine it

Darshar Griffonmane

I love that Miranda basically set up a version of Gotham City Batman insurance for Haven and Jake. Like, "We expect parts of the city to have random insane shit happen because, Jake." Also, real pink feathers on the Viper. I so badly want to see a picture/webtoon panel of that. tyftc!

Brian

Faster than the speed of light? But it took nearly 30 seconds? Traveling from the Earth to the Moon at the speed of light would take less than two seconds… A little research goes a long way. Love the books but the speeds and the distances described sometimes get out of hand and totally unrealistic.

Morazain

Villy proceeded to shit his pants while laughing.

eatingpitza314

Some fun calculations that are probably wrong. It takes roughly 1.3 seconds to get from the earth to the moon at the speed of light (said google). The earth is now about the size of the sun which is 1000 times bigger than earth which if scaled proportionally means that distances have increased 3root100 = 10 times which means it would take 13 seconds to get to earth from the moon. But these are bad (probably wrong) calculations based on a few lines in the novel. Also wings I think requires build up time.

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter! 🙂

Fyrtue

In my head non-divine skills that rise above the mythical level would become proper legacy skills and simply be categorized as that.

Almer Reyhan

Ahhhhh Zogarth gotta tickle my balls like this. We need to wait till Monday 😭

Lizy Flore

I want to know what bet he’s lost. One about Jake’s evolution, maybe ?

Margrave Fel

Finally, a first non-filler chapter in a while!

Tichamala

Yo isn’t the moon like a lot further from earth now since you know earth grew to the size of the sun post integration? Shouldn’t the distance scale as well?

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

Kirin

I thought it was the time bet that Duskleaf won for Jake.

Nano

The suits gotta be from the bet villy lost to Jake about how much time he spent in time dilation when he was making internal shadow and duskleaf told Jake how much time he spent in there

Felix Tomiak

But the System scaled everything Up, so the distance ist much larger

Fyrtue

Cliff hanging on the reaction stuff, but this felt like a very complete chapter and wrap up to the week.

Gavin Wayne Pitcher

Moon Is not same distance from earth as before, though, otherwise theyd be superimposed due to how massive they both now are.

MrRinger

Possibly, while I would love the nitty gritty details of the science after the system for judging stuff, what i put down was roughly what we have in reality. (I dont know if in system is still letting the moon go away from the earth at fingernail speed or if system fuckery has put metaphorical chains on it)

Lynderyn

I agree next week should be dedicated to your journey to B grade

Mrburns93

1.28 seconds is how long it takes for light to travel from the moon to the earth. Pre integration

Cyranosaurus

That last paragraph is one of the best set up paragraphs Zog has done. It’s the perfect kind of pull you forward not hang you out cliff set up. This is a great chapter. Thank you very much.

definitelynotbrjenness

did you know to make the moon fall you don't push it towards earth, you just need to slow it down?

Samuel Nelson

Haven "actual" is still preserved. It's just The Fort area that had modernized and expanded.

Josie

So.. what do we think Villy's been quietly adding to Jake's beers this whole time? It would be boring if he hasn't added anything ever, and the Malefic Viper isn't really a boring snake lol

Maxime

Doesn't that ability have like a loading time to set it up ? Perhaps the travel itself once the ability warped was faster

Mrburns93

Ill made no assertions on the skill, its activation, the speed at which Jake traveled and its relation to ftl travel pre integration. I had a fun fact and wanted to share. That said if the moon is significantly larger and significantly further away from earth(which is also significantly larger) then its still entirely possible that 15ish seconds is faster than pre integration light speed.

Tyler Brooks

Keep in mind not only the earth but the moon have grew massively. In previous books it was also confirmed the moon is farther away than it used to be.

ByLordMatsLuck

“he had successfully traveled all the way from the moon to Earth in less than half a minute.” Just wanted to say it only takes light like 1.3 seconds to go from the moon to earth so I didn’t know if you meant “minute” to be second there or what. Best

Noah Mclelland

I think he was talking about the new distances at the pre integration speed of light.

Michael Fannon

Duskleaf had better had taken photos to share. And give those photos to the primordial church so they make giant statues.

Michael Fannon

The moon is now larger than old Earth. Earth is the scale of Jupiter. The distance between the two is closer to the distance between Jupiter and some more distance moons, so around 5 to 6 light seconds. And Jake said he didn't hit FTL speeds, just that those were the closest comparison to how fast he traveled. So not light speed, but still around 20%, which is still insanely fast.

Michael Fannon

We need photos! To give to the church so they can make statues! Actually better not. They would probably start a war with the beast tribes to get the feathers.

Noah

I assumed this was because of the increase in scale of everything post-system, i do think it’d be good to clarify if that’s the case though

Nyx

Oh, good. It's Thursday, so I don't need to plot any stabbings this weekend... *checks the calendar* Oh. One minute, need to go get my stabby stabby knife.😆

Atra mentis

It was previously stated the earth and moon are now further apart than pre-integration

Xander

TFTC :) Have a great weekend all :) And i definitely didnt check the maths on the new distance to the moon compared to the pre-integration the speed of light :D Why would Lillian getting a blessing (tbh i assumed she'd had one for years at this point) be a conflict of loyalty? Any god that blesses her would have a closer tie to Jake and thus the viper and would want to nurture that right? Suggested edits: "had *Holstred* shut down a" wasn't it spelled "Halstred" before? I mostly listen to audiobooks so ignore me if I am mistaken. "certifications of *authentications* claiming" should be "authentication" since its the certificates that are plural or even "certificates of authenticity" "In my view, *Blessings seems* " either "a Blessing seems" or "Blessings seem"

E

The Jake Villy cliffhangers hurt the worst

KenTX325

Maybe turn the crater into a nice lake with a park. Put some eels in the lake and make a place for the hawks to hang out.

Xander

Earths radius has increased by ~110x we can assume that the moon and the distance to it has increased by a similar factor since that has been hinted at before. There is no speed of light after the integration, otherwise Jake would have been observing Ygg as she was decades before when he first saw her because of the distance and this was stated not to be the case, so Jake has to be refering to pre system C. With that and the increased distance, travel to the new moons location would take ~120s meaning Jake can travel around 4x faster than light now.

sinewyk

There have been multiple reference to legacy skills ... but it's more of a tag than anything else. Palate of the Malefic Viper is a legacy skill, but its rarity is mythical.

Xander

It did and it has. Jakes speed was ~4x pre system C for the return trip.

Episode 19

Praise be the Malefic Flamingo 🤌 Tyftc

Hornbach

Technically after the system light has Infinite Speed so it would travel that distance in an instand. But If we asume pre system Lightspeed then we need to consider that earth increased it's size to the pre system sun and according to the world building all the other distances scaled proportionally. That means the moon is now about 42 million km away from earth wich would mean pre system light would need 140 Seconds to travel that distance.

DeAndrea H

Hmm… in my imagination, pink feathers clash with Villy’s complexion, makes him look washed out. I hope we get an Intermission about Lillian and the United Tribe!

Xander

Earth is the size of the pre system Sun (not jupiter) so ~110x larger radius. The distance to, and size of, the moon have changed with a similar proportion meaning that the time for presystem light to travel to the moon would now be ~120 seconds. After the integration there is no speed of light, all information travels instantly. This was stated flat out when Jake saw Ygg for the first time from what would have been lightyears of distance presystem. Hope this clears it up for you a little :)

Ryan Buck

The distance had increased a lot, you have to remember earth is the same size the sun used to be.

Brian

Which is why they scaled the distances proportionally….did you read the comment you responded to? I immediately stopped reading when I came across the line about it taking nearly half a minute and that is somehow faster than the speed of light…not to mention…even the idea of being aster than light when you still have a mortal and physical body just makes no fucking sense at all. Arnold with his new variant race…maybe…but at B grade still outlandish. I love these books but every time he talks about distance, time or speed I just have to roll my eyes. A little research goes such a long way.

LionHeart

I CANNOT believe jake talked to lilian and forgot he has LIGHT DRAGON LOOT that can be used by the LIGHT MAGE!!! JAAAAAAAAAAAKE

Xander

The sun is 1.3M times bigger than the Earth not 1000, I think youre thinking of the earth and Jupiter. The suns radius is 110x larger than earth so Earth has increased by that ratio meaning the moon and the distance to it have increased by a similar ratio. Light would take ~120s to reach the moon now but thats fine because after the system there is no speed of light. Jakes travel was ~4x faster than presystem light would have made the journey. Oh and there is no speed of light anymore since the entire multiverse is being simulated by the system. There are no laws of physics, you dont need a body and even if you do have a body, just as was demonstrated by Arnold yesterday, it is merely for decoration and can be destroyed and rebuilt for giggles. But sure get grumpy that things arent like the real world as you read about people creating barriers from magical energy while fighting two headed death ogres and turning their bones to steel with a wish and a bath of herbs...

Brian

Yea, but if you lean on all the info that Zog has given us the moon is not that much further away, not even close. And beyond that, as I mentioned in another comment…Jake’s body is still mortal and physical. The idea that he can move faster than the speed of light is completely ridiculous. Arnold based off of his new variant race…maybe…but it would still just be silly to be able to accomplish that as a mere B Grade. Ima just chalk it up to this still being a draft and we’re getting these chapters as he’s thinking them up. I sure hope he revisits that statement though cause it was so ridiculous it pulled me out of the story completely. Note that I was responding to the first commenter, this posted just after another response so sequentially it looks wrong now.

Hornbach

In the system the distance from the earth to the moon should be about 42 million km that means light would need about 140s to travel that distance.( Pre system light at least)

JJB4345_80_815

Yes, thank you for the chappy Zogarth!

Hornbach

It was stated that the earth grew to the size of the pres system sun and that everything else scaled roughtly proportional. That would Put the moon about 42 million km away.

D

No way, she is just a girlfriend. Got to keep some mystery there too

Cole Christensen

Though you are free to say if you want to help me through these recent proposals for-“ I believe it should be “stay” not say

Hornbach

30 Seconds is faster that pre system lightspeed. With the new scale of the solar system the distance from earth to moon is about 42 million km. Light would need about 140 Seconds to travel that distance. So Jakes escape Skill was going about 4.5 Times pre system speed of light.

Siethrobo

Really? You can't believe Jake forgot about something in his inventory?

TheDwiin

Which is why Zogarth changed it

Siethrobo

Watch Villy be like "oh yeah, Valdemar has that skill but it's warrior instead of hunter"

DeAndrea H

While it’s very in character for Jake not to want to be worshipped or followed, he is going to have a few annoying millennia as he gets closer and closer to godhood as the recognized pinnacle of the era.

KenTX325

It’s going to happen. Especially when people figure out they get a power up from being in his faction. Hopefully he gets something out of it.

KenTX325

Jake’s Wings park!

Dragon

Probably something like it. But that skill seems like something he would have gotten as a reward for being the first human god

ABTelford

I love that Jake tell Villy that he should drink some more - “you’re not ready for this my man. Booz up!” 😄

ABTelford

Villy has black/dark green scales for his complexion. I imagine black with pink would look good. But the dark green with pink…yea, super clash. 😄

Alexandre8901

WHAT the cliff... now I'm thirsty and its not even 10 am...

Jack

Really hope we get to see more about the united tribes in the future really like the concept of an alliance between both massive tribes with lots of gods and small tribes with few gods

blucube 14

Thanks for the chapter!

Kenneth Welever

He wanted to make a primal light dragon though.

Ron Whitlatch

I think the idea is she hasnt had a blessing before so getting one can appear as a shift away from previous actions, which could include loyalty

Meredyth Fifield

Love it. I've been waiting for this conversation for the last two weeks!

Alex Lane

Might be time for a reread. I'm not having any issues with the logic.

Dalton Service

Well he did mention potentially using the light dragon heart and combining it with El Cheetos heart.

Xander

No one has a knife to your back making you subscribe.

Clint

Understatement.

Bobo

Ty

That one, right there.

Now for the most important question. Is the place super secure so Jake can talk in private, or so none of Villy’s followers can see him in the bird costume.

Carl Never

Ill feed you baby birds

Corvid

Man it would be hilarious if he lost that bet with eversmile and not duskleaf

Carl Never

Definitely the bird costume. What god got to do the photo shoot for winning the bet?

RunnerRunner

Thats assuming both stayed the same distance apart. If the planet grew like 5 times its original size and so did the moon. There would have to be additional space in between them.

RunnerRunner

Im sure shes got godqueen stuff to do. Upper management stuff we cant comprehend. She seems like the kind of person who doesnt shirk her responsibilities unlike villy who just tasks out all his bs

Carl Never

As a leader of the world its just optics. Lillian gets blessed by a united tribes leader makes her look like shes on the side of beasts and not supporting the order. All of which dosent matter but the people of earth will be confused

Carl Never

If i remeber right it was a little more than doubled. So 1.3×2.5 is still<30

Carl Never

Villy put up all that defense to hide his costume no way he is inviting art in jake should sneak her in with a camera

Xander

Dude Ill say this again straight to you, you are wrong entirely. For one this is a simulated magical multiverse with no physical rules on speed anymore. There is no lightspeed so Jake is only refering to the speed he was travelling compared to lightspeed before the system, which is a known value. 300k km/s as long as Jake can go faster than that he can travel faster than light. There is no maximum speed anymore. Jake regularly teleports across universes and within universes this travel is far faster than presystem lightspeed. Hell a few chapters ago when arriving at the Pantheon of Life Jake was watching Ygg from "lightyears" equivalent distance in real time because information travels instantly. Secondly physical bodies are not a limitation and can be rebuilt from sheer willpower if they are destroyed so complaining he is physical is nonsensical. Thirdly the moon is over 110x further away than it was because the entire universe was scaled up during the integration. Earth is the size of the sun. if the moon hasnt moved it is within the Earth. |I dont know why you think the moon isnt much further away than it was this was explained in book...i want to say 2? There is no gravity just conceptual gravity hence you can have planets larger than galactic clusters (primordial 4 is described as such when Jake visit the order the first time) As the moon is ~110x pre-system distance, going from the expansion of Earth to the size of the presystem Sun giving us a scale factor of 110, light would take over 2 minutes to travel between the Moon and Earth meaning Jakes 30s IS faster than presystem light. Either you have a serious lack of imagination or you have an inability to accept the fantastical elements of the world as presented to you. Stop trying to make physics physic. They dont anymore, there are only concepts controlled by the system. Valdemar made beer by cutting up a neutron star and putting it in a barrel, Jake fought a 2 headed ogre death knight and chipped part of a planetary core off and swallowed it... travelling a bit quickly isnt that much of a stretch is it?

Jip

Aight. I need one of you artistic folks to draw villy in a flamingo furry outfit asap. Thank you!

Carl Never

Literal shit i think is what jake thought

Jip

Celestial dragon would be dope… as long as it doesn’t come out F-ing orange

Josie

Minus the furry, please 😭 thank you lol

Indevan Jones

Lol I really hope the flamingo outfit was Duskleafs pick for that bet jake won. And that he got very nice photos

Ra

To be fair, not many people would find it funny that the viper has a flamingo costume other than Jake. The regular folks would just worship it, like the statue. So it's fine that Jake and the other person who made the bet were the only ones who saw him in the costume.

Jip

I should definitely clarify, dont make it at all sexualized, just a solid flamingo suit 😭

Benjamin Mages

You mean the light dragon heart he has plans for?

Dominick Gelardi

Tftc. A lot of good laughs in this one. My favorite being Jake complaining about Miranda leaving notes on how to handle Jake problems

Zac

I feel like there’s gotta be operational security risks too. Lillian is pretty high up the hierarchy of both earth and the galaxy. Being blessed presumably gives the god information about what you’re up to

Fyrtue

He has already made plans for the heart. He wants to combine it with El Hakan's heart and use it as a catalyst to empower a dragon's birth which should be a very cool experiment later on in B grade.

Fyrtue

Ain't no way he's flaunting the flamingo getup in front of her.

Fyrtue

Now you're making me think of other great setups he's done. Recently we have his parting jab to Yrelstromoz before the dragon hunt but there's 2 all-timers for me. The first is a definite aura moment during his Chosen ceremony where he says they recognize his aura as an apex predator...no, the monster who hunts them. The second would be when Villy doubles down betting on Jake before he enters the coliseum for his last fight with Valdemar.

heine fjæreide

"In Jake’s mind, the far more important thing was that he had successfully traveled all the way from the moon to Earth in less than half a minute. That was faster than the pre-system speed of light, though, considering how the Wings escape function worked, it wasn't like he had actually moved that fast." This is wrong it takes about 1.3 seconds for light to travel from the moon to the earth.

Stephen B.

Cliffhanger of Zogarth (Sacred) Once a week, determine the most exasperating place to end a chapter. Effectiveness is multiplied by the number of days until the next scheduled chapter.

zran

perhaps many years in the future the comic(if it manages to last that long) will likely do it

zran

eh, id say that is normal for any faction, likely any faction leader has something what is generally beneficial for the faction as a whole, even if they do not act as leaders directly

Quinn

Hear me out. Listening back through book 13. Chapter 22-24. William gets hired by some 3rd party to simply “give Jake knowledge on Elhakans planet” this 3rd party is still yet to be discovered. They killed the go between for William. What if this same 3rd party wanted elhakan dead. As if someone is dead people stop looking for them. Did we not recently find out about a group that hides well there members appear dead? The void ambush? They use the dead as puppets Idk if I’m wrong or right. But I highly suspect the 3rd party that sent William to elhakans home planet. Is the same one that attacked Jake in the void, I have no proof. Only a game theory

tigerfishie

Oh my god 😭😭love it, might have to draw an insanely stupid version of it later. Tyftc!!

zran

nah, likely the bet is unrelated to jake, duskleaf mentioned at the time what the viper does all kind of bets all the time, and this one is most likely one what is unrelated to jake

zran

sadly they are on villy super dupe secret club, no girls allowed!

Spicyice101

By the way, are we ever gonna get a look at what skills got downgraded when he evolved his class? For all we know, all of them could’ve been downgraded by a single rarity, or none of them could be, but it was never gone over.

zran

poisons lethal enough to kill any b grader what doesnt have his palate skill

Rewdan

I’m guessing a certain God Queen

Jennifer Leigh

I don't think Villy would ruin a good beer like that. Early on he got some that Snappy's descendant made. It's already alcohol + poison. That's why Jake warned the other Earth people before going to the Order.

Jennifer Leigh

Maybe. I think the karmic class link would allow the goddess to look in on Lillian even without a blessing. She was mostly worried about optics.

Fyrtue

Zog covered class and profession skill downgrades in chapter 1272.

ThatGuy

Is this duskleafs idea for that bet wayyyy early on Jake made about guessing the exact time he spent in time dilation?

Jimbo

I'm assuming she literally gets profession levels when her plans get used. *ding*

ThatGuy

If it is I think zogarth should add some clarity to it.

Patryk

I believe you have a outdated version of this skill, currently it seems that zogarth can create up to 6 cliffhangers per 5 days, with exponentially increasing cost of variant faith energy for each activation during a single week. EDIT: up to 6 cliffhangers every 7 days, to be exact. Forgot about the weekend.

ChRiAn

The distance between Earth and the Moon increased with the integration, just as the sizes of Earth, Moon the Sun and everything wlse.

ThatGuy

If you’re calling his evolutions filler you should go to a different series. Relax. Stop bitching and if you’re unhappy unsubscribe. You won’t complain about this filler when it’s being read to you in an audiobook.

Patryk

While at first you seem to be right, and one could even suggest that zogarth mistook the Moon -> Earth time with Sun->Earth time, you should consider that the distance between Earth and Moon increased significantly (if you estimate that increase as ~100x, similarly to Earth's size increase, then Zogarth is actually right).

Josie

What I'm saying is Villy's own father in law hesitated to drink something offered by the Viper - meanwhile Jake's been gobbling down every poison the Malefic Viper feeds him ever since that myriad trial lol And we've got no idea what Villy is getting out of it. It doesn't have to be nefarious, but at minium the poisons can act like an extra layer of surveillance for Villy to monitor everything going on inside Jake And this doesn't even touch on that drop of blood Jake keeps in his soulspace, blood that is considered Villy's poison and can also be manipulated by our dearest danger noodle lol

Patryk

Did zogarth write something concrete about this?

Eden

Eh, even they still prob require the capture of the trusoul to do their shit. Which mc fot and released to the system.

mucky 12

Ahh the cliff hangers! Zogarth you are a professional edger, yano that?😂

Anomander_Rake

Love his post evolution chats with Villy!

Seen Death

Haha Jake is so out of the ordinary he seems outrageous even to Villy Just a record gaining machine It might be somewhat difficult for most people (especially gods) to fathom expending records like jake does- considering thats generally the largest limiter for actual progress Villy (and most other super high end gods) pretty much have to wait for the system to start a new Era to potentially gain substantial records Id imagine jake might get to that point one day, the cost might be inconsequential currently but if records have a soft cap per era of limited records he might have to really consider when to use Jake Juice when records are more difficult to come by. But who knows? Maybe jake origin-ing stuff would also reintroduce more records into the current era and allow him to sustain it on succeeding? Tons of possibilities, thanks for the thought process Zog!

Perren D'Wolff

That was my thought, that the outfit was due to a lost bet.

Tuxzambir

Im pretty sure the 3rd party was stormild as right before meeting William she said to say hi to their mutual acquaintance.

Seen Death

Either way id like to atleast get some more hints towards : if it was a bet (probably), and what the topic of the bet was haha

Seen Death

Cliffhanger of the Zog ( → Innate Passive) Through unwavering devotion to the art of narrative restraint, you have transcended the need for conscious activation. No longer a skill to be invoked, Cliffhanger has become an instinct woven directly into your Path. Attempts to suppress this effect have proven futile. The System has acknowledged your dedication and removed the active component entirely.

Steven Ramey

I don't know how to make sure Zogarth sees this but I just saw someone complaining on Reddit from a couple days ago about the link to book six paperback version on Amazon not working. I think he was specifically talking about the German version.

Chelsa Roberts

Pink bird costume is probably from the bet he made with him b4 c grade evolution over how long he was in time dilation

Jennifer Leigh

The mystery group takes people that disappear in far away places and people assume they died. We saw El'hakan die. Body and soul gone.

KenTX325

She was under a contract with Miranda in book 4.

John Burton

Hopefully. We have a lot of loose ends like that

Nick

Hopefully Mondays chapter is from Villy's perspective and we get an insight as to who he lost the bet with.

heine fjæreide

Yeah I didn't think about that good catch

NicN

Tftc

Xander

First off High 5 for the WoT reference with your name :) Secondly, The Earth is now the size of the presystem Sun meaning a 110x increase in radius. Book 2 i think says that the moon andsun and the distances to them are all increased commensurately, with the system handling all the gravity and the earths rotation and that to make it possible for the 24h day night cycle to continue with such extreme sizes. With the distance to the moon increasing 110x that means presystem light would take ~120s to travel between Earth and the moon one way meaning Jake IS faster than presystem light. There is no limit on speed after the system so Lightspeed(C) is just a reference not a limit as it is in our reality. This is flat out stated when Jake first sees Ygg at the PoL since she is "lightyears" away but Jake is seeing her in real time since theyre is no delay in the information travelling to jake. Hell the space ship they are on travels faster than presystem light since it does a tour of the universe in months rather than trillions of years and there is no time dilation betwen the crew and the rest of the universe.

Lyphtch

I think other Primordials would find it funny too, at least most of them

Kristoffer

A level seems unlikely. I mean haven't she planned for Jake problems enough that she "only" gets some profession experience, but not enough for an entire level... Unless she was already kinda close of course. It would be kinda funny for her to level up while doing something completely unrelated to get path though, double so if she only had to wonder for a bit and then came to the correct assumption that one of her Jake plans was used.

Kristoffer

Liar! Surely you have been waiting for this chat since he got the spirit of man skill, like the rest of us. :)

ZanSanCho

Didn't Jake say a handful of chapters ago that the earth post-system is roughly the size of the sun pre-system?

ChickeWin

I’m so excited for tomorrow the chapter is gonna be lit

DefinitelyNotMinaga

Now why in the world should Jake hand out loot he gained from slaying True Dragon while still in C-Grade? More importantly why not use it for himself with his new profession along with the new profession skill?

Josie

It'd be fun if Jake used his new lesser Origin skill to basically steal his enemies weapons since they would soulbind to him. I don't think he actually would since it's not his style, but it'd be a hilarious way to win a fight 😄

Dalton Willis

“I don’t have to be immortal to be better than you” is amazing

Dalton Willis

But can you make a legacy skill before becoming a god?!

Dalton Willis

Yes but he did earth to moon in a sec with it being scaled up so how long does it take to Mars?

Azayrian105

You know I think I have two theories here. The first being that Primal Hunter’s Spirit of Man skill is just an expression of his path as the removal of the need for stat based armor is just the further simplification of his path where all he needs to focus on is his advancement and nothing more, same thing with the other skills as it helps refine and focus his path. My second theory is that I think that his Sacred Meditate is the set up for his future Transcendent Skill. Through this process he is able to practically eliminate the effect of his bloodline enhanced perception and maybe this allows him to gain insights otherwise unavailable to him as his bloodline coat everything he perceives and does.

C Smith

Jake should have told Lillian to tell people it was a weather balloon. Lol

JW Saxby

🤘🏼😁🤘🏼 Tftc 🍻

Wadzia

Oh my god… right … Monday …. Damn it !!! And here I was hoping for a new chapter today and the talk with Villy the Pink Flamingo

definitelynotbrjenness

LoL....Zog switches his style for awhile that gives two or three characters' perspectives a day and ends every sub-chapter with a cliffhanger every day. Would work when a group of them are working separately on a single problem. Personally, I don't think Zog's cliffhanger skill is capable of creating two to three cliffhangers a day for a week. And he's probably too CHICKEN to do it. BAWK BAWK!!!!

definitelynotbrjenness

+1 level...correctly predicted Jake would want tea to drink during meeting

definitelynotbrjenness

I wonder if Lillian would be interested in a ritual that might result in her having an opportunity to become a dragon?

definitelynotbrjenness

Villy is just pretending it was a bet. That is his normal outfit when chilling while a lone. He just forgot to change.

definitelynotbrjenness

Odd twist to girlfriend saga...Jake runs into her at the Order. Or better yet, Draskil introduces her to Jake as one of his friends.

definitelynotbrjenness

Orrr...Jake's family arrives and are met by some nerdy old guy that won't stop talking about alchemy except to question them about random abilities they may have.

definitelynotbrjenness

somebody said malefic flamingo yesterday. made me wonder about rainbow sovereign

definitelynotbrjenness

Adam refuses to follow his father's footsteps into the boring family business rebels and joins an evil snake cult. Grandparents go with him on his campus tour, demand to see the manager. Poor Thaynes...one child becomes an assassin and the other is second in command of an evil snake cult.

Xerecs

I made this guess awhile back about the possibility of his family surprising him at the order for a Thayne Family reunion of sorts. It would offer a few possible interesting interactions. The first being his parents get to meet and interact with Jakes buddy to make sure he isn't influencing him negatively XD. The entire interaction with his family who are mostly presence blind with VIlly and any other gods that might just show up at the novelty of having a family of mortals who can interact with them in a way they haven't experienced for a very long time. Second meeting his girlfriend Artemis.. but will anyone mention she is a god? Third all the women Jake has around himself there.. could give off a bit of a Harem vibe. Fourth his nephew who I feel should have already selected his class and seeing what if any affect the combined records he must be receiving from both his Dad and Uncle have had on his early development. Either way we are due for some family time chapters as Zog has essentially set a precedence of Jake spending time with his family shortly after evolving between grades.

definitelynotbrjenness

while touring the campus, Adam gets a weird feeling about the annoying flamingo mascot that keeps showing up.

definitelynotbrjenness

jake's mother says, " how bold of your parents to name you after a god."

definitelynotbrjenness

Adam can't understand why grandpa spends all his time drinking with the flamingo mascot while grandma stares menacingly at the wood elf. and why is miranda so nervous?

definitelynotbrjenness

would be cool if jasper felt something related to jake in the universe and ends up meeting jake's family.

Artyscon Drew

Soooo.... what's the name of Jake faction once he and his allies agree to become one unity in the multiverse

Catrina

Whatever happened to the picture Jake never got of villy in a shirt of duskleafs choice after he lost the bet of how long Jake was in the time chamber room?

Sol

These are always the best bits love a chat with villy 😁

Kristoffer

I like to think this is the outcome of that bet, and Duskleaf just spend a long time (from the perspective of us mortals) first choosing and then designing the costume.

Kristoffer

It could be the wild hunt, as it will have a hunter as the leader and also have monsters. At least I hope it shows up either as it's own thing or as the name of Jake's faction.

Colin

I cannot get the image of Villy in a big pink feather boa with a grumpy face out of my head…

Josie

Villy: "Not even Oras can see us now!" 👁 Jake: Why does this sound familiar.. oh I know.. (pulls out his void 🍭) Jake: "Well since my bestie's in a betting mood.. 😄" 🦩

SqrlyGrly

I'd always assumed that duskleaf was going to make Villy wear one of those "culturally significant" school uniforms that he forced duskleaf to design for the academy. But this works too

Patryk

Was there a bet with eversmile? Was it something connected to the lesson bait?

Patryk

Someone might have said it before, but I believe 'empyrean' is a potential rarity name, though it would be a rather high one Maybe Zogarth would swipe a cool word from some language (wanna flex, recently learned a borderline ancient word coinciding with a name of one of the characters, fits their character too) Also considering that translation skills are a thing, Zogarth may create a 2-word name, or a neologism The precedent has been to not use some names that exist as names in the system e.g. used to denote some metal (platinum/gold lol); but rather (starting from epic) they are a gradation of how magnificent a story could be – you could say that they are primarily game-like, but hear me out: Epic -> these tales recount extraordinary happenings, make everyone's hearts beat a bit faster, capture attention, from our point of view it's like a feat of, say, the decade in its own category (like a well-filmed/well-written account of someone very heroically saving others during some natural disaster in recent years would be something I would call an epic story) Ancient -> these ones still echo after more than a millennium has passed – stories of great conquerors, soldiers, thinkers, reformers, artists that have reasonably believable account surviving through the annals of history Legendary -> feats that seem hard to believe, often the surviving account would be very incomplete, I believe that the beginnings of many dynasties that founded powerful kingdoms and left a legacy fell into that category – these tales seem grander than those from earlier categories, sometimes blur the line between facts and fiction – mentioning a lone warrior defeating a hundred+ in close quarter combat; fighting a wild animal that seems unlikely to have ever existed; surviving something more difficult than a north pole expedition with no modern equipment etc.). Myth(ical) -> One could say that the main different between myths and legends is the sheer complexity of the first ones. While legends are often singular stories/accounts concerning only singular individuals, myths are sets of legends that tell the interwoven stories of many, many characters over a long period of time (take a look at any mythology, e.g. Greek one). Another notable difference between legends and myths is that in the latter ones borderline everything seems fantastical. (it's the difference between saying that the founder-ruler X killed the bears that plagued the local villagers, led them to victory against 5x forces and crossed deserts in the process and constructed breakthrough irrigation – giving vibes of a slightly unrealistic strategy game; and the founder-rulers having defeated gorgons, owning a flying horse, being a dragon, and having attained immortality but still being killed somehow) So Mythical skills would have, firstly – a far greater conceptual complexity (shhh forget about one step thousand miles) than legendary, and secondly – do even more inconceivable things (remember duskleaf reaction to eternal shadow and villy's to event horizon? :) So trying to push this forward a bit more, following mythical, the next rarity that doesn't add a flair of divinity could very well be So yeah, as you can see it fits really nicely and hopefully I got the name right, cheers.

Patryk

Jokes aside, unless there's a really cool keyword in games that I'm not aware of, I'd say that the next rarity would have to push the conceptual complexity and 'interestingness' to a far further level than in the mythical skills. And going by this way of associating rarity adjectives with the gradation of stories, after a myth would be a... a myth to people of myth? Think Atlantis' gods - Atlantis is a mythological/mythical civilization, so what would be their myths to us? Something forgotten, separated, unreachable.. something 𝘝𝘦𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 (or maybe, something related to uncovering that which was hidden)? These would actually make sense considering this rarity forbidden knowledge. Unless of course earlier rarities were also Forbidden Knowledge (though then it there would be an actual analogy between inconceivability level and legends/myths). Maybe the new rarity would have something to do with all the concepts included being fact-checked by the Gate of Enlightenment (it was mentioned as a reason why gods agree on many 'basic' concepts). Or maybe, if being called a myth could be associated with being known to the masses as the peak, then beyond the myth the masses would be unaware of you and it would be the real deal guys (gods) starting to pay attention to your path from the point of things such as creativity in merging/claiming concept – there would be at least a modicum of things genuinely interesting to them despite the level difference – think Nevermore's reaction to Arnold's motherboard creation in the Hall of Architect, she considered that extraordinary – Arnold cheated the system a bit with making everything self-sustainable, though it seems he still was within a somewhat predicted scenario of participant's performance. This naturally raises the question: what if Arnold had subverted any and all anticipations? And if all of it had been about skill upgrade, and not a physical creation? And if he had been half a grade more senior? You could also look at it from another angle – the new rarity signifies having made a first step in the path towards being considered a multiversal expert in a certain niche field – after all, the sacred prodigy title came with a mention of a first step on the path towards divinity, so this may be at least loosely similar. Actually just came up with a pretty nice word for that one – 𝘈𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘵 – and no, it has nothing to do with Transcendent. That said, I already mentioned that eternal shadow/event horizon had already managed to confuse some pretty strong gods, so maybe all of this isn't a step in the right direction? And there isn't really a direct successor to Mythical, but instead a somewhat separate path of progressing a skill than going toward divinity – something like getting closer towards fulfilling some other condition/aspect for achieving godhood, it was implied that the Gate of Enlightenment isn't the only one. What if divinity is only a concept related to the inner world (e.g. Soulspace which supposedly is a nascent divine realm), and for achievements more connected to the outside world – such as magic – there is a completely different path of progress (and term)? It may also be that there is no skill without a flair of divinity after Mythical, and it was just Villy trolling Jake by saying all the rarities between sacred and divine or something. Anyways, it was fun to write and consider all of this. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Corvid

Nah don't think so just saying it would be hilarious if Eversmile was the one who made him wear that costume

definitelynotbrjenness

New theory just dropped... When the first sage created the system in order to give mortals a better life and a path beyond, the titanic beings that ruled over the universe at that time sent the Primal Hunter to destroy the first sage and his creation. However, they had underestimated the abilities of the sage within his system. The hunter was captured and became the first student of the sage who he attempted to shape into one of the leaders bringing balance to the system. However, this Hunter, a being of darkness, time, and the conflicting powers of stability and destruction could not integrate into the system. He was outside it. Beyond it. Over time, this Hunter disappeared into his role of watching over the system and ensuring balance was maintained by its twelve rulers. The sage having become part of the system could not remember this being outside of the system, nor could he recognize the records left behind by that being's actions inside the system. Not even when those records coalesced into a legacy tied to a bloodline.

Alexander C Hyde

In my view, Blessings (seem)seems more like a transaction to me.

Josie

and we know shit's about to get real once the Primal Gatherer enters the System's multiverse 😌

sinewyk

Can't believe I forgot empyrean, considering how much eastern cultivation I read. But there has already been references to it in chapter 1144, 1162 and 1169 (at least). So even though it's a cool ass name, it's already been referenced as clearly a divine path.

Patryk

I am very well aware, but you could say that divine has references of its own, yet it's also a skill rarity. What I meant is that I doubt that transcendent/apex/supreme/arcane are a thing

sinewyk

Yeah, was throwing shit at the wall, we'll probably see what stick in B-grade.

Greg Alverson

I know Jake always forgets things in his storage, but I feel like that Dragon heart would be amazing for Lillian in some way, especially if used in a ritual, maybe even with primordial energy at her evolution to B grade. It did come from a B grade dragon of the Lumen flight and she is a Lumen mage

Matthew Thompson

I say give it to scarlett. Lets evolve her to a dragon just like villy.

Greg Alverson

Not sure how helpful it would be for her she has no link to lumen energy at all only poison, also she is already B grade, one of the first from earth to hit B

Greg Alverson

I am pretty sure the successful experiments generate a ton of records for Jake. He is also not losing records in the normal sense because they are reserved as part of jake juice which gets produced naturally as his records grow. The lesser version i think uses a tiny bit of jake juice but its like 1/10,000 of what the normal stuff would which makes it viable to experiment with while the main stuff you really only want to use on something you expect to succeed. By the time he reaches god he will likely understand how to use it a lot better due to the experiments when his record gains are easy at lower tiers.

DrDankness

Lol villy is dressed up like doflamingo from one piece. Pink feathers and threatening sun glasses of doom and all

Jacob Kraus

She is a Lucenti mage. She has a lot to do with the concept of the moon and lunar energy. Light does play a part in that, but it's tangential at best. I'm not sure it would help her all too much.

Chloe

Tyftc

Marrla

I will absolutely draw this
