All of Jake’s thoughts on how to handle the Arachnecs wanting him to lead them through the Boundary were quickly swept away at the announcement that his froggy friends had come for a visit.

The atmosphere within the chamber changed instantly, with the Archweaver and Nestmother both flaring their auras, making their animosity clear. Fortunately, none of their ire was aimed at Jake, though he didn’t doubt their arrival had something to do with him.

A bit touching, wasn’t it? His Shaman buddy had asked them to come rescue him after being valiantly kidnapped. He had even gone as far as to recruit quite the powerful rescue team based on the reaction of the Nestmother, as he doubted she would care if a bunch of B-grades or even just the Oracle had arrived.

“Take him down into the center of the Nest,” the A-grade Arachnec said to the Archweaver after collecting herself.

“Very well,” the Archweaver nodded and very firmly motioned for Jake to once more teleport back into the central part of the Nest. Jake didn’t argue, as going there was probably the safest place he could be outside of the egg chamber deep in the bowels of the structure.

The central part that housed the market and where all visitors to the Arachnecs resided was the second-best-defended area of the Nest. It was surrounded by powerful barriers sealing it off from anywhere else in the nest, with the only way to leave either through the Tunnel Mounds or a few set teleporters that only Arachnecs could use. Not that anyone else but Arachnecs could use the Tunnel Mounds either.

Jake had already put together that the center being this well-defended wasn’t only to keep guests and visitors safe, but to keep them contained. It kept everything and everyone out, while also keeping them in, making it difficult for any so-called guest to suddenly turn into an enemy and deal damage to the more important parts of the Nest.

“So...” Jake said as they reached the central building that they had initially teleported up to the Nestmother’s chambers from.

“Do not worry, it’s evident you had no way to contact them, and the decision to bring you here was obvious and predictable. What’s more, the Oracles of the Venusians live up to their name, and even if we attempted to hide your existence somewhere, they would discover you,” the Archweaver said in an attempt to reassure Jake that they didn’t blame him for the sudden frog invasion.

Which really wasn’t what Jake was going for as he shook his head. “But what’s the plan now?”

The Archweaver looked unsure for a few moments before looking upwards. “That will be decided by the Nestmother.”

--

“A frontal assault is out of the question,” the Oracle shook her head, shutting down the idea immediately. “It would risk killing the one from beyond the Boundary, and his value exceeds that of destroying a single Nest.”

“Not to mention the inevitable response of the Arachnecs,” another A-grade Venusian said as he looked down at the Nest from far above. “Last time, we lost nine villages in the mad revenge-fueled rampage that followed, and we’ve not made preparations for such an event.”

“Then let’s hope they respond soon,” a third Venusian said, speaking with a tone that made it clear he was the one carrying the most authority here. He was large and, unlike nearly all other Venusians, wore a full set of armor created from a mixture of bone and scales. Additionally, on his back was what looked like a large black bone carved into a more than four-meter-long cleaver, making it even larger than his already tall three-and-a-half-meter frame.

However, perhaps most notable were two horns growing out of his forehead, both of them teeming with power, ready to be unleashed should it be necessary. Should the frog make a move, there was no question the Nest would crumble before his power, which bordered on peak A-grade.

[Horned Venusian Slayer – lvl 735]

Behind him were more than fifty other Venusians, all of them also wielding weapons of carved bone, and all giving off the auras of powerful A-grades. Not just early-tier A-grades either. This was one of the elite squads of the Venusian faction, led by one of the ten strongest figures.

“The Nestmother will certainly respond soon upon realizing we’re not immediately attacking. While a more diplomatic approach is rare, there is precedent,” the Oracle said, feeling fairly confident despite one glaring issue with them coming to this Nest.

“Assuming they even know why we’ve come,” the Horned Slayer said, not veiling his dissatisfaction with the Oracle in the slightest. She couldn’t really blame him, though.

Despite her best efforts and even using some rare treasures of the Circle, she’d been incapable of divining the position of the human. Fortunately, she at least knew he was still alive because her disciple had captured part of his spiritual essence, allowing her to confirm his condition somewhat.

It was a bit unsettling that she had been unable to determine his position, though. In fact, he’d been entirely immune to all attempts she’d made to divine his state of being, location, or anything else related to him. The most logical explanation was that the Arachnecs had found some method the Venusians weren’t aware of to hide people. Something that, if true, would have many implications.

The theory that the human himself was the one with the immunity had been brought up, but it barely seemed worth considering unless he had some special natural treasure from beyond the Boundary. Or he had means that were beyond their current understanding.

Either way, it all meant that while they had confidently come to this Hive and were threatening to destroy it if they didn’t get a response, they didn’t actually know if the one from beyond the Boundary was in there. It was just what they assumed based on their countless years of history with the Arachnecs.

The Oracle waited impatiently, and finally, a response came from within the Hive.

“I could smell your ilk from across the entire island, Slayer of the Sea. What foolishness brings you here?” the unmistakable voice of a Nestmother spoke, meaning they definitely had the attention of the strongest being within the Nest.

“You already know the answer to that,” the Horned Slayer said, looking down at the Hive with contempt.

“So, is that your wish? To enter another era of slaughter that we both know will ultimately benefit the Arachnec?” her voice echoed from within, the magic of the Hive already being charged further.

Through the magic of the Oracle and the Ancestral Keeper from the Ancestral Village standing by her side, the space in the entire region had already been sealed off, making it impossible to use their Nest Mounds to escape from within the Nest. And for reinforcements to arrive immediately, of course.

“Oh, I’d love to scrape more of your kind’s filth off my blade, but unfortunately, crushing you and your disgusting Nest would risk killing the one from beyond the Boundary,” the Horned Slayer scoffed, not being the most diplomatic, but the Venusians and Arachnec had never been.

There were cases where Venusians had negotiated for prisoners, and the Arachnec had even done the same on rare occasions where their valuable nobles were captured. Often, these negotiations did end with the prisoner dead, and a slaughter ensuing, all diplomacy crushed beneath the overwhelming hatred between their races, but the Oracle hoped that wouldn’t be the ending this time.

Though the death of the one from beyond the Boundary was a preferable conclusion to allowing the Arachnecs to make use of him. It should be avoided, though, as it sounded like the human race was quite powerful, and making them the enemies of the Venusians before even making contact could prove problematic.

“What does our guest have to do with you, Venusian?” the Arachnec asked in a spiteful tone, making the Oracle frown a little.

For her to outright confirm his presence within hadn’t been expected, though it was certainly a positive outcome. It did indicate that they weren’t the ones hiding him, though, but that it was through his own means that he had been obscured from all divination. Another factor adding to the mysteriousness of this figure from beyond the Boundary.

“Guest? Is that what you call those you kidnap and imprison these days? The shamelessness of you filth truly knows no limits,” the Horned Slayer scoffed, as he also briefly shared a few telepathic messages with the Ancestral Keeper and Oracle, discussing the realization that this human had been the one capable of hiding himself.

“Stop the theatrics already, Slayer,” the Nestmother said as space quivered above the Nest as a portal opened. The A-grade stepped out, flaring her aura as it pushed back against the Horned Slayer’s, and proved positively inferior. The Oracle used Identify and confirmed that this disgusting creature was indeed far weaker than the Slayer.

[Arachnec Nestmother – lvl 709]

“The Envoy from beyond the Boundary is no member of your Venusian kin, so what purpose would we have to hand him over? What grounds do you have to demand he belongs with you?” the Nestmother continued, looking at the Slayer and even trying to use some of her disgusting mental magic. It naturally failed, but a few of the elites that had come along with the Slayer would definitely have found themselves affected if not for the Keeper’s shielding.

“Isn’t this ground enough?” the Horned Slayer said, lifting his cleaver as he also stopped infusing his voice with power.

“Certainly, you might think so,” the Nestmother nodded as she spread out her arms. “I do not doubt you could slay me and crush the Nest beneath. Of course, such a crude approach would also result in the human’s death, and I question if your kin can bear the consequences of that.”

The Slayer paused and telepathically reached out to the Oracle and Keeper. Her words clearly indicated that the human had revealed information to the Arachnecs that the Venusians didn’t know. Considering the existence of the Nestmother, it would be impossible for the barely B-grade human to hide anything should she meet him personally, and from the sounds of it, they had indeed met already.

“You do not know, do you?” the Nestmother said, now smiling. “The world beyond the Boundary is quite frightening. Far more than we can even comprehend. What’s more, we’ve already confirmed that a powerful existence is behind him. One that he claims far surpasses even the grade beyond A-grade. An existence that’s fully aware of everything going on and can even perceive the human’s surroundings. I do not doubt that his killers would meet quite an unfortunate end. Now, please, ask that Keeper of yours if I spoke the truth or not.”

The Oracle finally understood why the Nestmother had dared expose herself like this. She did it to allow the Keeper to use the skill that allowed him to tell if she was lying or not, and he soon confirmed through their telepathic link... she had spoken the truth. Or at least she genuinely believed all she’d said.

This new revelation muddied the waters a lot. If she were truly telling the truth, simply trying to slay the human was no longer a valid option. Given that the Arachnec’s had no known method of fooling Ancestral Keepers in prior encounters, they were inclined to believe this claim, leaving them truly unsure how to move forward.

“We’re at an impasse, it seems,” the Nestmother spoke again, seemingly insistent on maintaining momentum in this interaction.

“Perhaps it seems so,” the Oracle said, floating forward. “You have the human, yes, but what can you do with him? Extract information? From where we stand, I see no way for him to assist you in leaving for the world beyond the Boundary. You may try, and we will stop you. If the Arachnecs manage to get the first being that surpasses A-grade, the Venusian race will be doomed, so stopping you will be our utmost priority. No matter the case.”

“As one can only expect,” the Nestmother said with a light smile. “So that leaves the question... what now?”

--

“So, chances they’re just gonna nuke this entire Nest with me within it?” Jake reached out to Villy as he stood beside the Archweaver, genuinely not expecting any response. The Arachnec was clearly there to watch Jake in case he tried something, but he could still see the interaction between the group of Venusians and Nestmother in the sky about a hundred kilometers above the Nest. Assuming all the frogs were A-grade, they had certainly brought quite a group, with the only one among them that Jake recognized being the Oracle.

Surprisingly, after a few seconds, Villy actually said something. “Eh, I don’t see it happening. The Arachnec are quite a smart race and will surely find a way to avoid their Nest being destroyed, even if doing so makes use of your existence within. The Venusians are also not stupid and shouldn’t want to risk making enemies with the outside world before even making contact with it. Not to say I know what they’re gonna agree on, but diplomacy is the first approach for both sides based on what I know.”

“... why do you suddenly seem to know a lot about races you had no idea existed only weeks ago?” Jake asked inquisitively.

“Because you met them, and upon making contact with this Minor World, so have I made contact with it and have been able to absorb Records from it, feeding my Omniscience skill. Basically, I had a few extra pages added to the lexicon, if you will, giving me all the basic knowledge about this world that you surely lack. So, yes, I do know far more about this place than you possibly could,” Villy said in a bragging tone.

However, Jake’s response was definitely not what the snake god expected, as he looked a little sad. “That sounds... horrible. Doesn’t it ruin all sense of exploration and learning new things about an entirely untouched world to suddenly gain knowledge like that? At least to me, that would suck.”

“To me, I’m kind of over exploring places like these, and domains I have an interest in are those that my skill is unable to give me knowledge of. And, in my opinion, people tend to be a lot more interesting to explore than mere places, but I guess to each their own,” Villy answered.

“Still doesn’t sound like the kind of skill I would ever want,” Jake muttered telepathically. “Also, now that I have you... Any advice at all for this kind of situation? Finding myself surrounded by A-grades isn’t that comfortable, especially not when they all want me to lead them directly into the solar system, something I seriously doubt even the galaxy could handle.”

“Nah, you got this,” the truly evil snake god waved him off casually. “One warning, though. You can’t teleport them directly to another universe, even if you want to. They are bound to this Minor World until the time they have passed beyond what is referred to as the Boundary for the first time. This will certainly change in the future, but for now, that appears to be the case.”

“Great. Just great,” Jake muttered, his plan of trying to teleport these A-grades to the Order immediately shut down. At least if he’d done that, they would have appeared in an area surrounded by far more powerful creatures to handle them. Someone like Viridia could easily take on every single living being in this world combined, not to mention the gods of the Order.

Of course, that assumed he would even have gotten the chance to try to put down a teleportation circle in the first place. Current circumstances were still quite precarious to say the least, and while Jake could see the A-grades discuss something far above the Nest, he naturally couldn’t hear them, and unfortunately, Sphere and Myriad Tongues did not interact to allow him lip-reading.

“The Venusians will be hesitant to strike, even if not for your existence,” the Archweaver said, likely trying to be comforting in some way. “While we are undoubtedly enemies, there are still balances to be struck. If their elite went around destroying Nests, we would send our strongest to annihilate the Venusian Villages, ultimately ending in both factions suffering catastrophic damage. The Arachnecs would undoubtedly win in the end, but we would have suffered losses we may never recover from, or others might take advantage of any temporary weakness. Besides, it’s believed there is some value in a constant conflict, allowing both sides to hone themselves.”

The words of the Archweaver were definitely biased, as Jake wasn’t as sure as him that the Arachnecs winning was a given, but he didn’t argue. It all sounded similar to how many factions in the multiverse viewed conflict, which at least did give Jake some hope that it wouldn’t end with the Venusians just going: “Fuck it, if we can’t have him, no one can.”

A bit later, as Jake still stood with the Archweaver, some development finally happened as the B-grade looked down at him. “Your presence has been requested.”

Thanks for the chapter and congratulations on how well the kickstarter is going, kicking ass in those stretch goals. Happy Thursday all and I’m going to guess next chapters cliff is going to be rough 😂

Collector of Stories

My theory is the the same rules that limit the rest of the multiverse from invading the 93 also apply to the minor world. Meaning only early B-grades can leave the minor world and as universe opens eventually they all will be free to go as they want.

John Durrett

tyftc. Correction maybe “But that’s the plan now?”, Is this meant to be "But whats the plan now?" The first one doesn't make sense to me @Zog

John Durrett

Lol. Early morning eyes - I read you sentence first as... looks like my "precious" was a little off. hhaha

Naotani

Ok, here is my prediction: Jake goes up, it goes back and forth ending in a stalemate until a 3rd party, a certain A-Grade Seasnake, arrives. It recognizes Jake as the best buddy of the origin of all that is sassy snake and gets a nice little blessing for its efforts to help.

Seen Death

Thinking more about it, im not sure how friendly jake would actually want to be with the undead spiders I started off kind of liking them, but trying to manipulate jakes mentality/actions on their first meeting is kind of taboo I dont really blame them, theyve been doing this for a long time But still, messing with jake is one of those things most people usually only get 1 chance on

Rob Lyon

I don't really think they did it maliciously I think it's just part of her path so I don't think Jake will have a negative reaction to it

Rob Lyon

I definitely expect to see the sea serpent show up and to tell both other groups to fuck off because Jake is a snake

Rob Lyon

I have a feeling that this is right I don't think the A grades can leave the boundary yet because they are too strong so I do think Jake will eventually end up taking a B grade from the venusians and a B grade from the arachnic and probably a B grade Tide to the sea serpent with him or he'll take the a grades out of the boundary and then instantly bounce them to the order

Zenthos

I thought the 93rd was only open to C-grade and down right now.

Rob Lyon

I definitely think Jake is going to end up taking a B grade from the venusians and the arachnic and and probably the sea serpent with him and do some introductions he'll probably introduce the spiders to Casper or someone from the blightfathers group and take the other two to the order

Xander

TFTC :) Suggested edits: “But *that’s* the plan now?” should be "what's" " unleashed should it *be* necessary. *And* if it did, even if the" should be "become" to make the next sentence make sense grammatically. Also sentences shouldnt start with "and" so ditch that. "the *prisoner dead* and a *slaughter ensuing*, crushed beneath the overwhelming" feels like you should switch the slaughter and the prisoner parts because the end of the sentence refers to the prisoner not the slaughter. "A-grades discuss something *in* far above the Nest," extra word or you are missing "the air".

Collector of Stories

I can’t remember I just thought it was B-grades because off all the people foreign to the universe coming to compete. Whatever the rules for the outside universes also apply to the minor world. The system seems to like balance so it wouldn’t make much sense for it to ban A-grades and above from the multiverse and not do the same for the minor world.

J

Prob be easier to bring people to the the minor world then bring people out

Morazain

Nothing like faction warfare negotiations.

Rob Lyon

True But I don't think those in the minor world would be happy with that answer. I suspect he'll end up taking the archweaver the shaman and a yet to be identified embassy of the sea serpent with him after that I definitely see them setting up other people coming to visit. But I definitely think he'll have to take at least a few people off the world with him

Tomer Yud

I love the last chapters :) cant wait for more!

Lucas Fialho

One snake + One Venusian + One arachnech as exalted prima budies?

Vega

Jake has really been flexing his diplomacy skills during this arc, it’s fantastic. Mentioning Villy and subtly threatening them with this higher being backing him, making plans to teleport factions forcing his hand directly into the Order (plan falling through or not, it’s still a good plan if it were viable), keeping his cool under the Arachnecs, and now entering negotiations with both factions. Well done, Jake!

Rewdan

Cheers Zogarth I’m loving this.

Corvid

I'm just waiting for his beefy arm danger noodle apostles to come slithering in like the best part of that badger song from forever ago. Spider Spider Spider Frog Frog SNAAAAAKE! SNAAAAKE! Oh it's a SNAAAAKE!

mucky 12

Truly the best training he coupe have gotten before the event. At least, I think I remember one of the tests will be political stuff.

Michael

With the current restrictions on 93rd universe what top levels can enter now?

Michael

They might be considered natives of the 93rd?

Levi Lowry

Imagine if the Serpent shows up and it gets the blessing which then gives it the boost to reach S grade. That would be awesome

definitelynotbrjenness

Current WAG: Jake blesses one of each of at least the 3 groups. Trains them on some malefic skills so they can get through the boundary. However has to go through the event before they are ready. They surprise Jake after the event by making it through the boundary on their own. Possibly to rescue Jake from some trouble or earth from some trouble or the 2 becomes one thing reward gives Jake a boost allowing him to win prima event.

definitelynotbrjenness

Still a chance a grades will be considered natives of 93rd and able to move. Random sitting on shitter thought: what if venus is just tip of iceberg and reuniting venus brings an entire galaxy/universe along with it? Is there some weird thing about real milky way that leaves an odd amount of empty space or possibly an incomplete shape that would have given zogster the idea? Anyway would explain milky way's unusual strength and records if power has been leaking from an ancient twin galaxy.

CocoaBleu

Imagine the Venusians surprise when they realize that humans actually DO have a face… lol TFTC

beeve

Nah or they would have the endless tongues of the myriad races

beeve

Hahahaha

beeve

Forgot about that

definitelynotbrjenness

No...if you look at it from a certain perspective, you're prediction was completely accurate. You definitely inspired zog. The person doing the thing causing the other thing to result and revealing the new fact was pretty spot on. Well done!!!!

Samuel Nelson

TFTC! I love how you use the comments to add into the story. Like shutting the theory of teleporting to the Order.

definitelynotbrjenness

Jake put mask back on after goth spider girl giggled when he took his pants off.

djthomp

Diplomacy time, Jake, you can do it!

Colton Horton

Yeah, if I remember right there was a line where he was wondering to himself whether it was something she was doing on purpose or if it was just a passive skill that was always on. He also mentioned that using Invocation and Pride earlier made him more susceptible than normal and that normally it wouldn't have had much of an effect on him.

Christopher

Even A grades truely native to the 93rd universe likely have restrictions on where they can move to.

2026-09-05 04:00 As an American I don’t use the metric system much. Our preferred unit of measurement is bald eagles or incoherent ramblings per presidential speech (I admit that it’s not a perfect system but hey— at least it’s also corrupt!). But I do know that I’m just under 2 meters in height. So when you say the Battle Toad had a four meter cleaver I just picture me grabbing on to another me while being swung by a bigger me 😂😂 #murca

Loststar7

You’re right. Things are getting interesting very fast.

Loststar7

One can only hope

GuyManGuy

I feel like it's definitely gonna end with Jake bringing representatives around his level from atleast the frogs, snakes, and spiders to the system event

Michael

can Jake just beam Villy's blessings to anyone basically? Even A grades?

Emil Sørhus

That works absolutely, but you can just think that 1 meter is roughly a yard or around 3 feet. It's at least close enough that I can picture sizes when things are in feet and socks 😁

zran

we do not know if one of the test will be about political stuff, from what we have seen from miranda side was just re-doing her original tutorial tho is very likely anyway

zran

if he really hated it, he could acted like he did towards the orange f, after he got affected by her mind stuff he didnt acted in such way except he found it "yucky" so is easy to guess he has nothing against mind stuff unless is of the more permanent stuff, like said orange f did

ABTelford

Yeah! Let’s have Mr anti-social come into the midst of delicate negotiations! What could possibly happen? Hahaha!

ABTelford

I like that the Venusians assume Jake told all that stuff to the nestmother because of the mental manipulation skill, but mostly it was just Jake spilling the beans because he wanted to. Lol! I love the misunderstandings that people run with in this series, it’s always so fun!

Zenthos

I doubt the will be considered natives of the 93rd I think they just got connected to the universe through Venus.

SirbBrownFluffles

We know that Jake can give out blessings kinda willy nilly based on giving one to Scarlet back when they first met and she was a higher grade than him

Yiskah

It's funny Jake is all nervous being surrounded by people who could destroy him without any chance to stop them. When that is literally the default state for 99%+ of the population of the multiverse at any given time. He's been less nervous when surrounded by literal scores of Gods because he knew they had to play nice due to politics. Interesting to see him experience what most people go through all the time.

RonGAR

"An attack will risk harming the one from beyond the boundary." -- That line or something very similar, must've been said 10x from each side this chapter. LOL

doctordirt

Well it actually is because of the mental manipulation they got a good amount of information from it

Lazy Dragon

That would be fantastic. I imagine Miranda, exasperate as always, trying to figure out how Jake got a bunch of A grades to help him out.

CJ King

Thank you for the chapter

definitelynotbrjenness

jake leads the small group through the boundary. he loses contact with villy. senses he's not in the milky way. a human and a draugr appear before him wielding axes and offer to teach him how to sit in caves pondering the beauty of the universe and how to use it to blow shit up. or a guy that invites him to go fishing. or a scary rooster. or a spearman with green hair. or a. bunny that offers to teach him how to cook. or a dude with a broom or a guy and his golem. villy senses jake gone but he returns seconds later with weird new powers.

Gator1

I don't think he is too scared. It feels like he likes and dislikes both sides about the same. Both sides hate eachother for what they are. Jake doesn't hate anything in the multiverse like that save a few. To me he's just kind of there.

definitelynotbrjenness

reddit declares new series is proof that zog is actually shirtaloon/dinneman/wright...

definitelynotbrjenness

dammit, now you will have me thinking all day about people who make decisions based on "why would i do thing" vs people who think "why wouldn't i do thing...if I can get away with it."

Sunrain

The Venusians still assume there is only one universe outside with S-grade records and beyond so when they learn it's just the early B-grade 93rd universe beyond their burning desire to leave asap will fade

Josie

"people tend to be a lot more interesting to explore than mere places" See, if this were someone else I'd hear a social butterfly telling us he likes to gab and learn about people but the Malefic Viper finds the mass majority of people beneath him and I'm pretty sure he's just saying he'd rather lounge around burping up the Records of his latest meal 😅

Ra

Defiance of the fall is too long and gets boring at times, and I haven't read Beware of Chicken or Dungeon Crawler Carl? He Who Fights with Monsters was good, and I thought it was the ultimate one until I read The Primal Hunter. I couldn't finish the latest audiobook, and stopped midway through all the bull crap Jason pulled. Loved Mark of the Fool. Started it because of Travis Baldree, but stayed because of the story. Excited to listen to the last book in the series. My favorite completed series has to be Mother of Learning.

Ra

Well then what's the alternative? All out war? If that will happen regardless, why not try?

Elijah Soleil

This is a top tier idea, we need a spinoff where all the MCs meet. I feel like Jake and Ilea would instantly start fighting and become great friends.

Quantainium C

I doubt they can leave the boundary until the universe is either fully integrated or capable of supporting so many A grades. System fuckery will generally keep things balanced for the home team.

Jason

Just wanted to say I think this is the first time we've ever seen a level number from an A or S grade. I've been assuming the breaking points were 350, 500, 750, 1000 (godhood). Sounds like maybe that's it.

Peter Smith

Im pretty sure past f rank the levels requirements are increasing by 50

Jason

Well that would be 350, 550, 800, 1100. Plausible, though I was just kind of assuming that the Big Round Number of 1000 would be godhood for no good reason. EDIT: Hah, big round numbers for the win. 350, 500, 750, 1000 is correct.

Jason

I'll go look for that, thanks. I missed it.

Peter Smith

Yeah it kind of feels like G rank to F rank in the first book which happened at level 10. A watershed moment where you go from one state of existence to another new one with new abilities like how F rank automatically gives the races access to mana.

Lemonsqueezy

You got all the number correct. Level 1000 is godhood. Then you move into the various echelons of godhood itself. From my best guess it is more of a state of mind/being rather than an actual level requirement. We do know gods get levels, but it has never actually been stated what level any god is. I would like to know what level Villy is, considering his age it must be significant.

Lemonsqueezy

Villy has a skill/power that allows makes it where once Villy knows something it can never be forgotten. Not even the System or Eversmile can make him forget something. With this knowledge I believe it is safe to assume that Villy likes to just know things. I also disagree with Villy not being a social butterfly. He seems to love to talk and get to know people, he also likes to prank, tease, and make fun of people. What better way to mess with someone than to get to know them. He has also never shown any ill will towards any faction, people or belief system. The other fact about Villy is he is known to lie, cheat, and use people to get what he wants.

Lemonsqueezy

There is a little bit of plot armor from Zog going on. We can assume that something will happen to prevent these A-Grades from leaving Venus until Jake and his empire can protect itself.

Lemonsqueezy

I definitely recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl. However, I strongly suggest listening to the audiobook. Jeff Hayes does an amazing job narrating the story. I agree with you about DoTF, it just got so boring after awhile. I quit at book 11, there are just these really long sections that ramble on about things. Chapters upon chapters just discussing the environment around the MC. Then when *spoilers* the MC splits into two it gets even worse. There is also the fact that he spends several chapters just for skill selections. Lastly, the author still put the MCs entire stat sheet often even at book 11, and like Jake the damn thing is extremely long. Not so bad when you are reading it because you can skip, but the audiobook is agonizing. Zog has done very well with not continuously posting it and when he does it is a very summarized version, or only mentions the specific section that is relevant to the story at the moment. HWFWM does have its issues with how broody Jason is. I liked the story, but I lost interest when Shirtaloon got sick and hasn't written a new chapter in over a year now. I understand why and I don't fault him for it, I just have ADHD and lose interest quickly.

Zizawah

I like to think Jake is at least a little thoughtful. He blessed only Scarlett. Chris was blessed at the insistence of Villy. Who else am I missing?

Lemonsqueezy

It is like being really friendly to a relative so you can be in their will.

Lemonsqueezy

It is a little different in this case. Jake has no way of being protected here. In the 93rd he is probably one of if not the only strongest people. No one above his grade can enter the 93rd yet. Outside the 93rd he is protected by Villy and Artemis. There have been only a few instances where Jake has been actually nervous about a situation: the tutorial, the void event, Nevermore, the warpsnatcher, and now.

Lemonsqueezy

Villy said that in this chapter that once one of the beings leave that the border will drop.

definitelynotbrjenness

dotf= good enough story to skim past imagery and mumble jumbo hwfwm= didn't love second book but enjoyed the rest a decent amount to a lot. stache is mc.

zran

even if he end bringing people from venus to assist hi, i doubt he will be able to bring a graders into the event, i doubt the system will allow such invalance

Lemonsqueezy

It is around level 400 or so I believe.

Lemonsqueezy

I agree, the SoTEP seems to be restricted to only B-Grades.

Colin

Where was this AMA?

Bruno D. Alvim

So A grade is from lvl 500 to 749, and S grade from 750 to 999, right? (if 735 is almost peak A grade)

Lemonsqueezy

The only issue I have with this is when Villy said "They are bound to this Minor World until the time they have passed beyond what is referred to as the Boundary for the first time. This will certainly change in the future, but for now, that appears to be the case.” This makes me think that once anyone from the minor world leaves the boundary that the boundary will drop and anyone can pass. So if Jake takes one of each then all of the A-Grades can escape and roam free in the solar system.

Colin

That would be. … actually really fucking cool. We’ve gotten to know the personality of the Shaman and the Archweaver- I feel like they would be really fun writing material to have together in a room.

Jason

I just searched "Zogarth AMA". Was on reddit.

Suzanne Pearson

I’m gonna agree with DOTF. It’s just so overwhelming that it became not fun to read anymore. There was always some looming threat that meant that the main characters are always fighting tooth and nail for their lives. They don’t have a life left because of it. I love how Zog gives life - where not everything is a life and death struggle and there are moments where Jake just pats heads for the love of his peeps

Lemonsqueezy

My best guess is Jake giving a blessing to one member from each faction and thus balancing the world again. However, it seems that the Seasnake people are a neutral party so making them the strongest would definitely be a good choice. Then again, after such an action the Seasnake might decide that the other two factions should be destroyed.

Lemonsqueezy

It is a minor world separate from the 93rd. It is like its own universe. It probably will not be able to be integrated until the rest of the 93rd catches up to the power level. The system wants to integrate new universe, not have something come in and destroy everything and take over. Only to then be destroyed itself when the gods come in to seek revenge for their people that were killed. I think Villy alone would go on a rampage destroying everything he sees fit, and if not him Artemis definitely would. Then factor in less forgiving factions like the Risen, Holy Mother, and especially Valdemar who would definitely be upset that a shit ton of human were killed or enslaved.

Corey S

He enjoys those he deems worthy of his attention, which admittedly is not a lot

Lemonsqueezy

I think Zog reads these comments and predictions and then changes the story to prove us wrong lol.

Corey S

His relationship with Artemis is still secret. But his relationship with Villy definitely gives him protection from most things

Josie

the "skill/power" you're referring to is his Bloodline. It does not somehow magically make him sociable. The very few friends Villy has he treats well, but if you're not in his inner circle he 100% does not care about you. Go back and read the Eye of Magnus chapters and Villy's commentary on how he sees others. And FS's observations about the Viper. And yeah, he eats people and gains their records. It was the Yip saga that inspired my comment

definitelynotbrjenness

reddit? I was talking about his intro as the host of the American Music Awards. I laughed my ass off when he came out wearing a blow up dinosaur costume with a top hat and monocle.

definitelynotbrjenness

damn. made me realize how much villy's path aligns with snappy and sandy. split villy in two you get snappy and duskleaf.

definitelynotbrjenness

split villy into thirds and you get a third disciple that will "take it personal" if you mess with anything he considers his. hmmm...gods advancing based on how well the whole of their followers paths combine to match their true path. perhaps universes stagnated because of to many decisions based off of hierarchy of factions overriding true paths. along comes super chaos weirdo who is who he is with no concern for hierarchies. another book added to the list to write when I retire.

definitelynotbrjenness

holy church filing official complaint because jake somehow snuck A grades into the 93rd

Nerd search

I was definitely expecting something like: Jake: “Hey, what’s that over there.” *unseen hunter activates*

Kaladin

So he will bring the archweaver and the shaman out of the boundary because it'll be limited to B grades?

Biggy smalls

Plot armor is something that uniquely helps or benefits a specific character in a piece of media. What’s taking place now with Jake is standard operating procedure. He found a pocket dimension during the beginning of a new integration. Villy says that these places are found throughout the multiverse all the time. The system has always protected new integration forerunners from higher graded individuals that can smush them. So I take umbrage with the word plot armor in this specific circumstance. Nothing taking place now is out of the ordinary.

Biggy smalls

And while he’s not of their faction there’s loads of other gods that would probably come to his aid if he was being threatened in an unjust manner by a much stronger being. For some of them it’s because they like Jake (Minaga, Artemis, Duskleaf, Valdemar, etc), his relationship with Villy, or his origin juice powers (Endless empire gods, Demon gods, etc), or a combination of all 3.

Biggy smalls

No. I think the level restriction will still hold for the 93rd even after the pocket world is opened. Only the B grades beneath the level cap can enter the 93rd. The rest though could leave the 93rd and go to the other 92 universes if they so wish. I imagine the powerful snakes will want to head over to the order. The spiders to the undead faction and the frogs will go to the order or POL faction.

definitelynotbrjenness

ok...your bringing very strong b grades into your universe. how do you explain the rules? Just don't kill anybody or destroy anything without checking with me. shaman is refused entrance into a community. frog says, "please give me a minute to check with jake thane and see if I should destroy your city for this insult." "ohh...you know the chosen. come on in. are u one of his creations?"

Frederik

Jake beeing bullied -> Avangers Assemble -> literal army of gods descending on some stupid bully 😂

Kaladin

May we next meet when twin worlds breathe. - A Sage

Aaron Hardin

It is probably a state of conceptual understanding more than it is a state of mind.

Matthew Monroe

So random thought...maybe the 1st sage did need to die as he was stuck in C grade. If Jake has a harder time leveling bc of his boons...the 1st sage with his 99 transcendent skills but godhood ain't 1, wouldn't be able to gather enough worthwhile records during the 1st Era to evolve/level up. So die and passing his records off to let them propagate and grow through time is how he will be able to evolve/level up maybe?...

Matthew Monroe

Or his evolution was to die and become records... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rob Lyon

That's what I'm thinking and of course someone tied to the sea serpent. Because I definitely expect the sea serpent to show up and shut this entire Mexican standoff down

Rob Lyon

I think he did it on one of his AMAs a while back as well

Rob Lyon

@ lemonsqueezy shirt just announced he's going to start releasing chapters again. Or maybe he just started putting that new chapters again I'm not sure I haven't rejoined his patreon yet

Rob Lyon

He's not scared around gods because they all know the norms of the multiverse and they all know he's got the Viper backing him. So the likelihood of any of them getting out of line is low to none. He's more uneasy in this minor world because they don't know the norms of the multiverse and they decide that fuck it if they can't have him no one can. Because even the spiders that have felt the vipers aura Don't totally believe him that there's something above a grade they're working with that assumption because they don't want to piss whatever it is off but they're still not totally convinced.

Rob Lyon

Not really most of the information they got was before the mental manipulation even with them into manipulation they didn't get much they got to see what a human looks like and that's about it pretty much everything else He gave willingly. And the The mental manipulation didn't it's just really sway jake much once he realized he was still under the effects of it

Rob Lyon

I think we're going to get a visit from a big water snake

Josie

Thank Villy they have no idea what Bloodlines are or that he has one. I could definitely see a fool trying to enslave him for some new creations.. or babies. And Villy would lose his shit again bc he can't go Desolation of Snake on them

Rob Lyon

I don't see why he wouldn't be able to He gave Scarlet a blessing when she was a grade hirer than he was. And because of his heretic chosen path he does not have to ask permission from Villy to give a blessing. So if he wants to give the sea serpent a minor blessing I don't see it being an issue. I could see it being a issue if he was trying to give it a divine blessing or something but if he sticks to the lower end of the blessings it shouldn't be an issue

Rob Lyon

Yes the boundary would be easier to exit but I still think the system would keep anything under the level it allows into the 93rd universe sealed so I doubt a grades would even be able to leave then

Rob Lyon

He never took his pants off He just offered to

Rob Lyon

I definitely think he's going to bring the shaman and the archweaver and probably a representative from the snakes. Everybody's forgetting the best part he's going to have to give them all names because we know he's not going to go around calling them shaman and Arch Weaver the whole time

Rob Lyon

I definitely agree I think that the system will cap whoever he can bring out of the minor world to the limitations it has on the 93rd University currently I don't think it would let anybody bring an A grade from the multiverse outside the 93rd I also don't think the system would allow one to come out of a minor world into the 93rd not yet at least

Rob Lyon

I expect to see the sea snake get a blessing and act as Jake's backing or insurance of anonymity within the minor world

Rob Lyon

Remember when it was open to see grades it raised a level every 100 days and it's been quite a few years since that started so I definitely see it allowing low to mid to your B grades especially considering that's the level a lot of the actual inhabitants are starting to reach

Sylphie

I just like how you wing it, Dutchie

Austin Gagnon

I believe he became a part of the system like a ghost in the system?

Matthew Monroe

A ghost of system past....gunna visit villy on Christmas eve

Frosgods

B grades will probably be able to come into 93rd after Jake event

Frosgods

IIRC he can only bring ones below his lvl. It will be interesting to see what they will do with last spot tournament like before Nevermore or some other race will come to complete 5 poisons

ABTelford

Now I need to reread it to remember which it is. Lol!

Gabe Stankiewicz

Oh man, that bigass sea snake is 1000% going to show up and threaten to smack down some fools a little bit after Jake scratches the back of his head and apologizes for all the trouble he’s caused, AGAIN. 😂😂

Geoffrey

The logical course of action is to momentarily put aside the animosity and each race to send a representative of roughly equal power and prestige with Jake to attempt the boundary crossing

Josie

I just realized this would be an absolutely hilarious moment for Jake to dig in his inventory, pull out one of SS's fan art paintings from Nevermore, and go "Look here. In the multiverse the undead and living find a way together ❤." Sorry, Casper & Jacob. We're trying to pursue world peace 🤭🤭🤭

beeve

Maybe the top 5 most powerful are part of separate factions? If so then maybe 5 in total but is the snake the head of the nomads or does the snake live in the ocean?

beeve

I thought he was gunna use wings to escape

beeve

Yeah they have to escape the boundary first before they can go to the order.. but they need to be compatible with the 93rd to escape. I’ll bet the only ones that have tried to escape are a grades and they haven’t tried sending b grades recently. It was only recently that b grades were allowed to enter that weren’t from the 93rd universe

beeve

No you have to leave for you to be able to go to the order.. not that once 1 leaves it drops

Corvid

That's a gaggle of high tier A grades. Either one would be about as effective as Drax being stealthy in guardians of the galaxy. I would say they would slap him hard enough to send him to Villy same day delivery, but they at least realize it would be a bad idea.

ABTelford

😂🤣 YES!!! I know it’ll never happen but I want it to happen so bad now! 😂🤪😂

ABTelford

I don’t want to be contentious but Zogarth has repeatedly said the first sage is truly, properly dead. I know he’s awesome but I personally hate the trope of someone dead being brought back. Death needs to be final or it loses all meaning. The X-Men comics ruined their story lines repeatedly this way. Drove me nuts.

Matthew Monroe

I mean, dudes not really dead if he knows and can interact with ppl from the future. Also xmen comics are kinda a bad comparison as they change universes(storylines) like days of the week. I do get what you mean though, cheapens whatever sacrifice made.....but as far as we know he didn't really sacrifice anything, unless I missed some chapter this was said. Dude suicided by Viper for vague unknown reasons

Matthew Monroe

Lol we gotta get Jake his own primeval wiji board skills lmfao, 🤣 😂 zogarth can sell it as an item

Matthew Monroe

1st step, acknowledge your own awesomeness 👌 it's the Jake way

Chloe

Tyftc

Gabe Stankiewicz

Man, seeing people at level 735 is insane. I can’t wait until book 297 when Jake gets there. I honestly hope this series goes on for a long ass time, as it’s really one of the best book universes I’ve ever read.

DeAndrea H

I genuinely enjoy going back to book 1 where he was fighting Nicholas the archer and was like "Ohmigawd. This guy is level 7. What an absolute monster!"
