When it came to personal power, Jake naturally didn’t stand a chance against all these A-grades, so he had done all he could to make them realize that, despite them being far more powerful than him, it didn’t matter for shit. They were still specks of dust before superior beings who could casually wipe them out at a moment’s notice. That, in the grand scheme of things, the difference between themselves and Jake had no bearing at all when supreme gods were the ones making all the decisions anyway.

Of course, Jake needed to show he had some power. Just not the kind of power that could directly threaten them with death. Instead, he had organizational power through his faction and the Malefic Viper.

As for also mixing his Bloodline in... well, Jake reckoned it never hurt when trying to appear intimidating. He knew he couldn’t actually scare these A-grades into thinking he was more powerful than them, and neither did he intend to, but he did want to display something they couldn’t understand. Make them question their worldview even more than they already were, and thus become more susceptible to Jake’s words.

However, the outcome didn’t end up being quite what he had expected. Jake had planned on being a little intimidating with this display, far more than he had when he used Pride and Invocation. Then, Jake hadn’t done so with the intent to scare the Archweaver or Miresnakes, but merely for them to witness the aura of the Malefic Viper.

This time, he didn’t even use Invocation and Pride, but just blasted the regular aura of a Chosen, but there was something Jake had neglected to consider:

These natives of Venus had never been exposed to these kinds of auras before. Most in the universe grew up around or at least met several blessed individuals throughout their lives. They were slowly exposed to minor levels of divinity, especially since most blessed people deliberately wanted everyone to know they were blessed, thus blasting their aura more than necessary. Jake had gotten used to keeping his identity hidden as he also used Shroud to even remove it from his Identify result, making this the first time he’d actually flared his Chosen aura after arriving in the Minor World.

The result was immediate.

All the A-grades recoiled physically at Jake’s aura, with several of them grasping their weapons in a purely defensive manner. A fearful one. They stared at Jake as he stood there, exuding his aura of a Chosen mixed with his Bloodline for several seconds.

Jake’s words about properly discussing the future of the Minor World were barely registered, as everyone seemed entirely unsure of how to proceed. They definitely had a lot to process, so it was understandable.

Hearing Jake speak about divinity and whatnot was one thing, but feeling the aura of a Chosen was something entirely different. While Jake’s aura didn’t have any combat-applications, besides maybe making a foe be momentarily shocked – though that likely still wouldn’t happen in the heat of combat – it certainly got the job done in situations like this.

For a few seconds, Jake considered reining in his aura, but quickly decided not to. He just stood there and waited for the Venusians and Arachnecs to get their bearings, internally making bets on who would be the first to speak up.

It ended up being someone Jake hadn’t expected. Right as Jake had this thought, space slightly quivered beside him, and the Archweaver arrived, daring to show up in this kind of scene despite only being a B-grade.

Likely because the Arachnec had experienced Jake’s Invocation-infused Pride, he was less affected and shocked, allowing him to speak up first.

“You continually surprise me with your means. I had not expected you to be capable of leaving the Nest on your own,” the Arachnec said, not even addressing the elephant in the room.

“I didn’t see the need to before,” Jake said with a smile. “And if it’s any consolation, I have a way to directly leave this world. However, let me warn you all right now that this method will only allow me to leave and no one else.”

He was naturally speaking of setting up a teleportation circle and heading back to the Order with Villy’s help. Something he saw no need to do, as things were going currently, though it was still good to have the option available.

“I would claim to be surprised, but that would not be a truthful statement,” the Archweaver said in a casual tone, which helped Jake realize what the Arachnec was doing.

His appearance had significantly helped calm things down, as the two of them had casually spoken. This wasn’t what Jake had wanted; however, it wasn’t necessarily a bad development. What’s more, he was in for another surprise when he realized that all the Venusians were looking at this B-grade newcomer with a gaze of caution. Jake had definitely underestimated the status of the Archweaver, and looking back, the Nestmother had never really treated him like a subordinate, had she?

“I am known to be full of surprises,” Jake said as he addressed the crowd once more. “What you are all experiencing right now is only the aura of someone blessed by a god. Compared to the real thing, there is simply no comparison. Granted, I do carry the highest level of Blessing available; the difference is still stark.”

“There seem to be two components to this aura,” the horned frog said, having clearly identified the presence of both his Bloodline and the Blessing.

“True, one is my Blessing, and the other is my own innate power,” Jake said, getting a lot of disbelieving looks for that one. “It’s based on a power that may be beyond your current understanding. Unless you know what Bloodlines are?”

Jake used his sphere to closely observe the reactions of everyone present, and, yeah, it was pretty clear no one had any clue what a Bloodline was supposed to be. Again, not surprising, as it was statistically improbable anyone with a Bloodline appeared in this world, and even if they had, chances were it had been a useless Bloodline anyway. That, or the one with it had died early. Too many possibilities, all of which made the chance of them knowing what Bloodlines were close to nil.

“That’s a no, which is totally fine. You’ll all learn in due time,” Jake said with a smile. “Which really is what we should be talking about. The future of the Venusians, Arachnecs, and all other natives of this world. A huge upheaval is inevitable at this point, but I’m sure a solution can be found that not only helps preserve the races and factions of this world but allow them to reach higher than any of you can imagine.”

After scaring them all into fearing the dangerous world beyond the Boundary, it was time to make everyone see the potential upsides of the world beyond the Boundary. Make them know that life wasn’t all about the stick, but that there was also a carrot to this situation.

“Which will require us to join one of these massive factions, I take it,” the Oracle said, not sounding particularly keen on the idea.

The Archweaver and Nestmother, on the other hand, looked like they were having a quite lively discussion, likely leaning positively towards the Risen faction. Truthfully, Jake did think they fit very well there, and if not for the Seat of the Exalted Prima system event, he would have asked Casper to come. He was probably still going to do that, just later.

“Maybe,” Jake said, trying to hide a smile. “It all depends on the person who’s in charge of the entrance to this world."

“As someone belonging to the same faction as this Malefic Viper while carrying one of these powerful Blessings, would we be right to assume you could put us in contact with this person?” the horned frog asked, definitely also not a fan of having to subordinate themselves to some massive faction they had only heard about minutes earlier.

“You could say that,” Jake said, having decided that while he was going to reveal a lot, he should still keep the fact that this Minor World was technically under his control hidden. For now, at least. “What I will say is that my words will have a lot of sway on what will happen going forward. Though in the end, the will of the Malefic Viper is what reigns supreme.”

Jake’s words seemed to soothe the situation a little, though not by that much. They were still nervous, but Jake kept talking.

“Let’s take a step back, alright? This entire situation came about because the Arachnecs and Venusians have a deep-seated hatred for one another, born of territorial disputes. With access to the multiverse, that’s no longer a factor. At least not a factor that will affect any of you. You will be free to leave and have a near-infinite world ahead of you to conquer. If you want to, both factions could go to places where in your lifetimes, you will never even encounter a single member of the other faction,” Jake said, really aiming to sell the idea that rather than fight in this Minor World, they should focus more on what they could do in the outside world.

That losing combatants now was just a good way to weaken themselves once they made it beyond the Boundary. He wanted to sell them on a better future. A future where instead of fighting over Jake in a bitter divorce, they both found new families and settled down happily, not even having to think about each other anymore. Okay, it didn’t entirely work, but Jake was just rolling with it.

Anyhow, Jake paused, letting his words settle among the gathered A-grades. The silence was heavy, but Jake purposefully let it linger for several moments before speaking again. “The world beyond the Boundary isn’t just vast; it’s one of endless possibilities. You’re not being forced to abandon your heritage or the values you’ve fought to uphold; instead, you’re being offered new horizons. There will be challenges, yes, but also opportunities to build alliances, expand and claim far more territory, and for all of you to grow personally. To evolve.”

The Oracle’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully, while the horned frog exchanged a glance with his hated enemy, the Nestmother, each contemplating the magnitude of Jake’s words. The silence lasted for several seconds as they all seemed to finally consider that this could be the pivot upon which their future turned. Jake knew the path ahead would not be simple, but some hope for a better future seemed to have finally taken root amidst the doubt.

“Abandoning our home for grander expanses is a big ask,” the Archweaver spoke up skeptically.

“No one says you will need to abandon it,” Jake shook his head. “In fact, I wouldn’t expect you to. This Minor World does have certain advantages and is different from the outside world, so keeping a presence here is highly advised. However, these advantages mean that others will certainly also want to travel here, and a balance needs to be struck.”

“Let us assume we are in agreement; would it not be best to delay talk of details until certain things have been confirmed?” the Archweaver asked as he looked towards the horizon. “Such as your ability to actually bring us beyond the Boundary.”

The Archweaver brought up a good point; however, this was where Jake had quite a bit of doubt. He had no idea how he was meant to help bring people beyond the Boundary or what rules applied. What he did know was that he seriously hoped there were some rules, as if he could just bring whoever he wanted; that wasn’t a very comfortable notion.

Without even mentioning the A-grades, bringing the Archweaver could spell disaster for Earth and probably the entire solar system. Jake wasn’t confident in defeating the Archweaver even if all the other notable figures on Earth were present, and he definitely wasn’t now that nearly everyone was off trying to become Administrators for the Seat of the Exalted Prima.

The best-case scenario was that Jake couldn’t bring someone as powerful as the Archweaver, with the worst-case being unrestricted access. Well, that, or worst-case, would be Jake proving himself unable to bring anyone beyond the Boundary, pissing off everyone, and probably getting himself killed for having proven himself useless.

Alas, Jake could only believe the system message all natives had gotten in this world and nod.

“Very well, though I will mention one thing. I’ve dealt with several system messages before, and even if it’s not mentioned, there are often hidden rules or restrictions. I can already say now that I can pretty much guarantee A-grades will not be able to enter the multiverse yet,” Jake said, speaking with more hope than actual conviction.

This definitely earned him some frowns from the A-grades who’d probably hoped to be among the first to go, but fortunately, they didn’t look that surprised either. Jake didn’t know the exact contents of whatever system message they received, but hopefully, it had included something to warn them about this reality.

“When you say not yet, what kind of timeline are you thinking?” the Oracle asked, still frowning a little.

“It’s hard to say,” Jake said as he shook his head, and after a bit of further consideration, he concluded he would have to reveal a bit more information about the world outside.

“The entrance to this place is within a new frontier of the multiverse that is under certain restrictions that apply to all non-natives of this frontier. I believe you will at most count as half-natives, so you will probably also be under some restrictions. These will lessen with time, but I can’t give any definite timeline. It could be a hundred or over a thousand years before A-grades can go beyond the Boundary,” Jake said, feeling a bit nervous at definitely risking disappointing all these A-grades, but he felt that he needed them to temper their expectations.

However, this was where Jake had once more made a minor miscalculation. For the better this time around.

“Only a thousand?” the Oracle said with pleasant surprise, and he even saw the horned frog breathe out a sigh of relief. “Even if it’s several thousand years, it’s not too bad.”

Likely because Jake was so used to dealing with system events and a lot of things happening within a short time-span, he’d entirely forgotten to consider that he was dealing with powerful A-grades who’d lived in this world for who knows how long already.

To them, even ten thousand years probably didn’t seem that long. B-grades alone could live in the hundreds of thousands of years, and A-grades were fully capable of being over a million, so really, what was a few thousand years?

“Maybe a bit longer, maybe not,” Jake said, also feeling relieved. “I guess the only way to find out is to actually test it. To not waste time, have both factions bring members of their race in different level brackets, if possible, maybe even a few below B-grade.”

“It may take a while to get them here,” the Oracle said, though she didn’t protest his words.

“That’s fine, I’m sure we’re all fine with waiting,” Jake said with a smile. Seeing as they were right above an Arachnec Nest, Jake assumed they could put forth plenty of members rather quickly.

“Very well,” the Archweaver nodded. “Then we wait.”

The Venusians didn’t hesitate, as the Oracle went along with a few other A-grades, going to the closest Venusian Village, which Jake assumed to be the one he had visited. With the Oracle’s space magic, it wouldn’t take long to get there, but they probably still had at least a few hours of waiting.

This gave everything a bit of time to simmer and calm down, and Jake also relaxed, feeling that he was doing a pretty damn good job, and things were going better than he’d expected, as some kind of temporary agreement had been made. He didn’t even have to use Invocation-infused Pride to intimidate them, which had been his plan if they had gotten too hung up on him, probably being limited on who he could bring beyond the Boundary.

Now all he had to do was actually figure out who he could bring beyond the Boundary, and surely, he wouldn’t be in for more unexpected surprises.

Right?

Of course no more surprises. It's not like he just blasted unknown power and caused all factions in vicinity to investigate

Michael Fannon

If there are C grades, wouldn't nevermore tokens work with them? Seems to be the main exception to most rules and restrictions. And I have no idea if Jake has some chilling in his storage. He never checks it!

Lorites

Hey Zogarth, thank you for the chapter. I’m really enjoying this arc. I have a question about the Primordial tier. I’m pretty sure that when I initially pledged, all three books were going to be signed and numbered, but now it says only the first one is. Will this be addressed later? I probably would have missed the change if I hadn’t checked my pledge again.

Bet he can take any B grade out with a decent chance that he can take anyone out

I was just trying to figure this out as well, there was no mention of a system message before.

There was a mention, I think it was the Oracle that said at some point they received a system message telling them about beyond the boundary, I will go look for the exact mention

Thank u for the story

Pretty sure Jake never got Nevermore tokens. He went to Nevermore from the first universe skipping the tokens entirely. Could Jake get tokens yeah probably pretty easily

Fulminis

Yes there was, they were told around the time of the initiation about a world beyond the boundary, but no one could leave probably due to the universal level restrictions

Mitha

This might be it, thanks for finding this. It has been a few weeks since that chapter.

Here: chapter 1295 “Allow me to enlighten you. A number of years ago, we received a message from the system talking of a greater world beyond our own. One that we would connect to one day.

Probably just the B-grade around his own level probably. But I don't think much higher like high to peak levels of B-grade

All the while, they're making like a tree and running for the stars.

I was thinking along the same lines — if he just started talking about the concept gate and the first sage, would they even know wtf was going on?

Jansemon

Don't they just stand there and wait until they forgot the knowledge?

Noah Mclelland

I feel like the system would prevent using it in combat, it'd affect the memory to just make it seem like nothing happened without causing a stir, and maybe after the fighting they might realise there's gaps in what happened.

Not unless magic becomes real. There’s no evolutionary reason for our lifespans to increase like that and if it’s some technological solution that involves not being in our original bodies I’d argue they aren’t human anymore

Ty Cooper

Tftc! Ha big snake is going to show up. Would be funny if the bog lord core came also.

RonGAR

Hmmm I guess, but from a cosmic perspective, sayyy if there is a habitable planet 1000 light-years away. Most scientists today' would jump at the chance of "Only a thousand years" The thing about space is, every trip we make will be one-way. Anyone leaving Earth in a Star Trek-like ship, warp engines or not, would still be leaving for good. You'll never be able report back anything you've found, and by the time you do, a 1000 yrs would've gone by, and no organization you left behind would be there to get your message.

Ra

I don't think it'll be that bad. Cells in the human body are constantly born and die. As one ages, the rate of death increases compared to life. At some point, humans will be able to figure out how to control this process effectively. Additionally, time is relative. If we lived on another planet with different gravity, or star cycle (day/night), or even if the natural operating frequency of our brains change, we can live "longer"

Ra

You know you can edit your own messages, right?

Joken

He was a late bloomer, we had to keep him on diapers till he was 4. I can only imagine Villy’s amusement reading about it and teasing Jake.

Summer Coff

Gonna be honest, kinda assumed Jake would just go visit the Sea Serpent first, and that would be how he escaped the divorce negotiations.

Weasel

It would hilarious if he assembles a team consist of Arachnec, Venusian, boglord and and Miresnake just in time for the world event

Pekka Kohonen

I think the big lord was just a tiny extension of a much bigger Bog Monarch or something. But I am expecting the snake to there first.

RonGAR

@RA Oh I am sure we will be able to control the process of aging within the next 20 years, given what we know, and I am sure with the help of AI, we'll meet that timeframe. But if you are not sitting on a few hundred million dollars to 'spare', I doubt you'd benefit from it. I mean, you are literally buying time.

Ty Cooper

Going to laugh if he gives the big snake a blessing.

Tanner Lannister

Still waiting on Jake to give the world snake a blessing it’s been a while since he pulled that move

Lemonsqueezy

I am under the impression that any creature that surpasses the limit the system set upon the 93rd cannot leave the boundary. Which I think is currently around level 400.

Lemonsqueezy

It is like 110 days i believe so close to 4 months before Jake is teleported to the SoTEP event. Jake has been on Venus for a bit over a month, there was a bit of time before he went there. So we are probably looking at about 2 more months before Jake is teleported out. I think that Jake will leave the minor world before that and introduce some of the inhabitants to the greater multi-verse and almost definitely Earth. Will probably also send one delegate to each appropriate primordial.

Lemonsqueezy

Still waiting for the Milksnakes and bog-lord representatives. I think a lot of us will be disappointed if they do not make an appearance. It is kind of ironic that there are 4 species and SoTEP allows 5 man teams. So maybe one of each joins Jake in the event. However, I am not very inclined to believe it would happen. Jake is more likely to bring close allies of his and Miranda will almost definitely be one of them. So maybe all the races except the bog-lord who seems to be a very large creature and Miranda. I guess we will just have to see what happens, but we still have about 2 months before the event starts for Jake. So I am expecting a tour of the multiverse with these creatures. Jake will probably drop one off at each of the appropriate primordials after taking them all to meet Villy. Introducing the Arachnec representative to Casper seems like a definite way to go. Snakes will definitely follow Jake around like puppies. I am not sure if there are any Pantheon of Life people one Earth or not, but if so that is probably where the Frogs will go. However, they are amphibians so going to the Order also kind of fits. Amphibians and Reptiles are at least closely related in the animal kingdom. Bog-Lord definitely seems like a species that would associate with the Order. All of this really depends on if Zog is going to give Jake a way to bring anyone out of the boundary with him or not. Jake cannot bring them out directly via a teleportation circle, but maybe if he gets them out of the boundary first he can do so.

Lemonsqueezy

I think tokens only really applied to the 93rds initial introduction to Nevermore. Probably to reduce how crowded the dungeon would be. I think at this point anyone can go anytime they want to if they have the ability to do so.

Lemonsqueezy

Those would probably only be awarded for factions he brings to the Order. At this point the Arachnea will go to the Blightfather. The Venusians are strongly leaning towards the Pantheon of Life, but they could align with Jake and the Order purely because Jake owns the galaxy they are located in. There could be divisions within each faction with its citizens aligning with different primordials. Except the Arachnae because they are described as a hive-mind and so whomever the Nestmother aligns with the rest of her subjects will also align with.

Lemonsqueezy

We also have the issue with all of the citizens on this minor world are accustomed to living in a toxic atmosphere. I don't see it being a major issue, but Zog could write it where it becomes some sort of debuff to the citizens of this minor world.

Bookreader97

I dunno why but the archweaver reminds me of the forest king. I would love to see them interact and/or fight. Even tho the archweaver would kick his ass right now.

Has the 93rd universe opened up to B grades yet? From chapter 1078: Restrictions on multiversal travel have been lessened, allowing anyone below high-tier C-grade (level 300 and below) to travel to the 93rd Universe, starting 100 days from now. This level restriction will rise by 1 level every 100 days until reaching peak C-grade (level 349). This is the last thing I remember but I'm sure I've missed something.

John Durrett

tyftc. Some of you may recognize the inspiration here, but every time Jakes says aloud I think I did good here, Miranda drinks a shot. :) Better a shot then sneezing every time.

John Durrett

The arch-weaver that's been accompanying Jake has that old man droll butler sound, and the temperance (Patience) that goes with it.

@Ra - editing messages is easiest on laptop or pc. If on mobile app, its easier to just hit reply. Both Suzanne's and your messages was delivered successfully. I also like to hear myself talk, so there's that. ;)

ABTelford

Considering you have to be B grade to enter the contest for the exalted prima…yes. When natives reach a new grade = system event and opening of that limits restrictions.

definitelynotbrjenness

I think the chapter ended in a 5. Just kidding, you've probably already found it because some one posted the chap # and someone else quoted it below. amounts to nestmother or oracle saying something about receiving a system message.

ABTelford

Great chapter! And ending that way…yea, big Snake boss is coming to join the party, isn’t he? I’m SO happy it’s not Friday. Lol!

my milksnake brings all the boys to the yard. my milksnake is better than yours.

Lemonsqueezy

I thought it was B-Grade now, but I could definitely be mistaken. I think there are already b-grades from other universes in the 93rd. Mostly because I believe it was mentioned that a True dragon is going to be in the SoTEP event.

Lemonsqueezy

I am glad Zog has finally given us some information on the life spans of B and A grade. Nothing specific, but he did say 100s of thousands of years for B and millions for A.

Lemonsqueezy

I think because so many of us have guessed it is going to happen that Zog is just going to change it up on us.

Lynderyn

Snakes will be showing up

Siethrobo

Villy wasn't even aware of the minor world, maybe the system wanted to keep it completely hidden until it was discovered, which would mean the locals wouldn't be allowed to make contact with anyone until then. Or maybe the Wyrmgod has to be aware of a place for them to get nevermore tokens.

zran

well, we already know how easy is for him getting sidetracked.....

Biggy smalls

I’m looking forward to Miranda’s reaction when he inevitably dumps all of this on her lap to deal with. “Yeah so you know Venus. Turns out it’s a toxic pocket world full of A grades, bunch of newish races in there as well. Oh and one more thing, they can’t stand eachother, bye.”

Luke Scheffe

But it may take longer to get out than in. He won't be able to use any of his movement techniques, and it's possible that the distance is longer on the way out, considering their report of an endless world of toxic energy when attempting to leave.

jjjm

you mean the frost wyvern that will hopefully become a true dragon by that time? they're a 93rd native

Daniel Wells

Villy is really enjoying watching Jake struggle to navigate this 🤣

SqrlyGrly

The simplest solution is the system just prevents the combatant from hearing what Jake says. Just sees his lips moving.

TFTC; still got my fingers crossed on Miranda sending down insult spewing frog rain

ABTelford

Oh man I would LOVE a Villy recap of this whole thing! Maybe with the girlfriend also watching? Or a recording he shows her later? Or the Blightfather? Fun possibilities!

Rob Lyon

I'm not sure it has been a few years but not nearly enough for b Grades to be able to come in now if you're a native of the 93rd universe you can grow to b grade and come and go but I don't think they'll let outside b grades in yet. So it made limit who he can bring out of the minor world as well

James Drezner

I could have sworn Villy went over the max lifespan of each grade fairly early on, but cant remember which book. I know it was brought up again after his parent evolved to D-grade and were concerned that the lifespan was too long for their pre-system brains to be comfortable with. Wish i had the memory to remember which books those convos happened in.

Lemonsqueezy

He never officially stated lifespans over C-Grade. I specifically asked him about on discord because the wiki didn't have it either and he said that it was on purpose. It seems that those details will be given as Jake reaches the grades.
