The atmosphere underwent an immediate and sudden change at the appearance of this newcomer. Its aura was still within the realm of A-grade, but the difference between this being and all others present was stark, to say the least.

It was not a question of levels at that point, but sheer quality. Jake, who had been ready to stake his life in an attempt to at least draw blood from the near-peak A-grade Horned Slayer, watched this new creature slowly emerge, and as it seemed to cover most of his vision, he easily used Identify.

[Great Sea Serpent – lvl ???]

It was one of the greatest considered at the apex of this world, and Jake immediately understood why. While he didn’t have proper insight into how powerful these A-grades he’d met so far were, he had considered them at least above-average variants.

Now, he questioned whether that was truly the case. Because if it were, then the Great Sea Serpent was an actual top-tier variant, likely just a single step below a Unique Lifeform.

The mass of scales continued shifting as the massive beast coiled around the entire area Jake and the others were occupying, and with its movements, space itself locked down, and an oppressive aura seemed to suppress everyone’s ability to display their full power.

Jake used his sphere to see the reactions of all the A-grades, and they were evidently all shocked at the appearance of the Great Sea Serpent. Some even threw looks Jake’s way, but he naturally had no idea why the gigantic snake had shown up now, either... but what he did know was that the scaled A-grade’s attention had been on him since the very moment of its appearance.

Trying to estimate the full size of the Great Sea Serpent felt almost impossible, as its body formed enormous walls that covered Jake’s vision, and even with Pulse, its head had yet to enter his range of Perception. It was the largest creature Jake had ever encountered in person, and it seemed more than capable of coiling around entire planets.

“Great Sea Serpent, to what do we owe the honor of your presence?” the Lich asked, having already fully dispelled the insulting Soul Contract, as her attention was now fully focused on the newly arrived A-grade.

“Curiosity.”

The voice boomed throughout seemingly all of existence, and the words felt almost physically heavy as they fell upon the group, with only a few of the A-grades managing not to be affected.

Jake suddenly felt the gaze of the Great Sea Serpent on him, and instinctively, he looked up. The entire sky had transformed into an ocean of orange, giving off a soft glow that penetrated the mist of the Minor World and made it visible. A massive black slit went down the center of this ocean, making Jake realize he was currently making eye contact with the utterly gigantic creature.

“I see. Well, you’re naturally more than welcome to participate. Your arrival was just unexpected,” the Lich said, her cheerful mood entirely gone as she spoke with a cautious tone.

From her words, she also seemed to already know what the group was up to. Jake observed the Nomads present and took note of how none of them were snakes, but that didn’t mean what Jake had done within the Nest hadn’t made its way back to the Great Sea Serpent and made it look into the situation.

“Do I need your permission? To announce my actions?” the Great Sea Serpent said in a haughty tone, making it clear that it believed itself superior to all the A-grades present.

Even the Lich, which the Shaman had said was considered second-from-the-top in this world, was still one big step below the Great Sea Serpent in power. Given that, what would all these other A-grades count for? They would have been slaughtered if they dared to fight.

“Of course not,” the Lich quickly backtracked. “I let my curiosity about your presence get the best of me. I apologize.”

The Great Sea Serpent didn’t comment but did keep staring at Jake while never addressing him directly or even acknowledging his presence so far.

“Yes... It is curious. Venusians and Arachnecs getting along. Working together. What could have made this happen?”

It was a question that seemed rhetorical, but the Great Sea Serpent paused, clearly giving space for a reply. The A-grades seemed to take a moment, but one of the Nestmothers spoke up quickly.

“We’ve found someone from beyond the Boundary and are working on facilitating a plan to explore and migrate to what lies beyond it. A lot of information has already been uncovered, including a massive potential threat beyond A-grade. Fortunately, there seems to be some kind of restriction on the area right beyond the Boundary, and...”

The Nestmother just started yapping, rapidly giving away all the information Jake had revealed so far, and even sprinkling in some of their own musings and beliefs. Surprisingly, the Venusians quickly joined in by also oversharing, followed by one of the Nomads also saying what little they knew, with the Lich desperately left with nothing of note to say.

At first, Jake was surprised by their reactions, but soon he understood. The Great Sea Serpent had given them a chance to share their knowledge without being forced to, and the A-grades had quickly taken it once they realized. Once a single faction took this opportunity, everyone else also had to speak or risk offending the Great Sea Serpent by holding out on him.

What’s more, nobody knew what the Great Serpent was already aware of. He clearly knew some things related to what was currently happening, so if they said something untrue or indicated they were trying to actively deceive the top-tier A-grade... well, the fact that the Great Sea Serpent had sealed off space and oppressed them with his aura indicated there would be severe consequences to such disrespect.

At least that was Jake’s interpretation, and if he was right, then clearly, this Great Sea Serpent was more than just a big snake with lots of power. It was also quite skilled at manipulation, making Jake wonder if that was just a common trait that many snakes seemed to have.

Once the A-grades were done with their explanation, the Great Sea Serpent seemed to finally acknowledge Jake as it addressed him directly.

“It truly is a curious situation. Tell me, human from beyond the Boundary, do their words ring true?” the Great Sea Serpent asked Jake, putting him in quite a nasty spot.

He felt tempted to lie and say that they were all full of shit in the hope that the Great Sea Serpent would decide to do a bit of killing, but he ended up just slowly nodding, while still not giving them full credit. “For the most part, but any mistakes are likely due to their extreme ignorance of the multiverse.”

“Ignorance. Yes. We are ignorant, are we not? Pitiful creatures, trapped in a puddle, unaware of the ocean just beyond the hill, with you, the river leading to knowledge and freedom.”

Jake had no idea where the Great Sea Serpent was going with this, and he didn’t trust the fact that he hadn’t felt any hostility yet, either. The Venusians and Arachnecs had never shown hostility either, but that didn’t mean they weren’t willing to do what they’d done. They had never intended to kill him, as he was too useful. It was entirely possible the Great Sea Serpent was thinking in the same vein, and while Jake wanted to believe that, since it was a snake, it would help that not be the case; Jake didn’t want to get his hopes up.

“But as they told you, there are current limitations,” Jake answered, feeling that the peak A-grade was expecting some kind of response, so he had to say something.

“Indeed, it is so. Yet you represent hope and help set a more definite timeline. At the same time, your presence here marks the beginning of a new era for this entire world. One bound to be full of dangers and opportunities. How we proceed may be the most important decision ever made by anyone ever born in this world.”

The more the Great Sea Serpent spoke, the more perplexed Jake became about what he actually wanted. The A-grade never seemed to speak clearly and relay actual intent. Clearly, the Great Sea Serpent’s appearance at this moment was no coincidence, and chances were he had been aware of what was going on ever since Jake and the B-grades exited the Boundary. Perhaps even before that.

What the Great Sea Serpent said next more or less confirmed that the A-grade was at least aware of what had gone down after Jake returned from within the Boundary.

“An important decision... that will not be rushed. No action shall be taken that cannot be rectified.”

These words made the A-grades in charge of their factions frown, as the Great Sea Serpent clearly called out their heavy-handed approach. It was a scolding without directly calling them out, but there was definite intent behind these words at least.

“Then what do you propose?” the Horned Slayer spoke up for the first time, still showing quite a bit of gusto despite clearly being severely outmatched.

“Nothing. Not yet. Any proposal would be rushed and thus unwise. But one action must be taken. An act of equality.”

The Horned Slayer seemed to notice that something was off as he spoke. “What do you intend to-“

Before the words could even come out of his mouth, the Great Sea Serpent struck. Jake couldn’t even fully see what happened; all he saw was a brief blur before the Horned Slayer disappeared. Vaguely feeling the direction of movement, Jake realized the Horned Slayer had been blasted downwards to somewhere already out of sight.

Several of the A-grades looked utterly shocked and took defensive positions in response to the attack, despite knowing that if they were next, resistance would be utterly futile. The Oracle from the Venusian side looked about to talk as space quivered for a moment, as the Horned Slayer reappeared, having been dragged back, now looking a lot worse for wear.

He was keeled over and letting out heaving breaths as two soda can-sized holes had appeared on his chest and shoulder, both of them oozing with a venom Jake’s Sense of the Malefic Viper instantly let Jake know would mean instant death should Jake even touch it.

“A wound for a wound. Justice? Perhaps not, but the closest we will get in a scenario like this.”

Yet again, the atmosphere had undergone another drastic change, as the Great Sea Serpent had made its willingness to strike very evident. The Horned Slayer was still heaving as black veins spread from what Jake suspected to be two fang holes, the poison spreading throughout his body and even affecting his soul as far as Jake could tell.

The Great Sea Serpent was utterly oppressive as his words lingered in the air, nobody daring to act. The Venusians, especially the truth-telling one from the Ancestor Village, looked like they wanted to go and assist the Horned Slayer, yet none of them dared to move under the watchful gaze of one of the three strongest existences within this Minor World.

“A small act. One I hope will make the human reconsider and allow us to reset. To begin anew in the process of making this all-important decision. What say you?”

Jake stood there, dumbfounded, as the peak A-grade spoke to him once more. He took a moment to get his bearings and considered his answer carefully before he spoke.

“I was open to discussion and making a plan from the very beginning, but I do appreciate the sentiment,” Jake said, really hoping that the massive snake didn’t take offense. Fortunately, he didn’t seem to.

“Good. Now let us ask what comes next.”

Once more, the Great Sea Serpent sounded like it was about to say more, but instead remained silent, prompting everyone else to speak instead. Same as last time, no one spoke immediately. Everyone present was being extra careful about what to say after what had happened to the Horned Slayer.

Speaking of, the A-grade Venusian was still one of the stronger members of the Venusian faction and managed to fight back against the venom somewhat decently. The spread had stopped, and the overwhelming vital energies were fighting back, but damage had definitely been done, and the Venusian would be left with some bad soul damage that wouldn’t heal in just a day or two.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, the one to speak up was surprisingly the B-grade Archweaver. “As the Great Sea Serpent said, making a hasty decision would be reckless and risky. So rather than aiming to decide what comes next today, perhaps we should all take a step back. Give time for us all to reflect on a plan that benefits everyone involved and leads to the best future for our world without acting in a fashion that’s beneath us.”

The Archweaver had spoken without being interrupted or anyone even frowning at a B-grade daring to speak up. Instead, a few nodded their heads, and especially the Arachnecs looked like they were in complete agreement.

Of course, none of that mattered, as only the opinion of one creature had any true bearing. The Great Sea Serpent was quiet for several seconds, even after the Archweaver spoke, before his voice echoed once more.

“Do the rest agree with the protégé of the Grand Weaver’s words?”

That was also when Jake learned that the Archweaver indeed did have a pretty damn important identity. He assumed that this Grand Weaver was the leader of the Arachnec race, and if the Great Sea Serpent knew who the Archweaver was, his position definitely couldn’t be low. It was entirely possible he was even a candidate to become the next leader of his entire race.

As for the Great Sea Serpent’s question, no one responded for several seconds once more, except for the Arachnecs nodding in agreement. However, surprisingly, the next one to speak up was another of the B-grades present.

“If I’m allowed to speak... and know this is simply my own opinion, as I cannot possibly represent my race or faction... I also believe it’s best that we do not start our journey beyond the Boundary by making enemies,” the Shaman said in a very nervous tone, and definitely not just because he was under the gaze of the Great Sea Serpent.

He had effectively just gone against what his superiors had done and openly voiced his disagreement. Something that at least made Jake feel a little better about all that had happened. He’d thought that he and the Shaman had gotten along pretty well, especially after their Arachnec-hunting journey, and he had felt betrayed when the Venusians turned on him. Fortunately, it seemed that the Shaman didn’t have any idea things would develop this way, and was personally not agreeing with how the elders of his race had acted.

The Great Sea Serpent didn’t directly acknowledge the words of the Shaman, but after a few seconds, did speak again.

“With the absence of protest, I assume we’re all in agreement.”

Yeah, definitely manipulative, because who the hell would dare protest against the peak A-grade with the Horned Slayer still trying to stabilize himself right in the middle of the group?

“Then this matter ends here. We shall all think. Consider. And only decide when the best choice can be made. Though for that, we need knowledge. I need knowledge. So I invite the human to accompany me and bestow his insights upon me.”

For the first time, it looked like some of the A-grades would actually dare speak up, but the Great Sea Serpent quickly silenced them with his next words.

“Temporarily, of course. One year. In one year, we shall reconvene, and during that time, I beseech the human not to enter the Boundary, but to stay under my watch. Under my... protection.”

And with that, it seemed like rather than Jake successfully escaping, he had instead simply switched jailors. Of course, seeing as he was dealing with a snake, things were certainly not that simple.

Thank u for the story

definitelynotbrjenness

Yes. The one we needed. Take the rest of....oh wait...let me read first.... Okay. Yeah you can take the rest of the week off if you need to zog. You have my permission. We can clearly see where this one is going, so not too bad of a cliffhanger.

Villy is playing it more vague and scheming. By "abducting" Jake and wanting to hold all the knowledge for themself there isn't enough leeway to band together against the sea serpent. It's pretty obvious that he's commisioned by Villy.

Stormy

TFTC..... the snake is gona poison everyone

Abhishek

Jakes first chosen.

Daniel

The great sea serpent rocks.

Phallusar

I always found the racial veneration snakes had for the Father of Serpents a little endearing. I'm interested in whether any such respect can be found in the Great Sea Serpent for Villy's Chosen.

Julian

Looks like this snake is angling for a blessing from Jake.

Rob Lyon

Time to give out a blessing Jake

Fdrugc

He should offer to bless the snake. Although I thought Villy already blessed him i guess I was wrong.

Sammot

So is this all on villys orders? Or is the thing villy was gonna do still gonna happen?

Dhia

jake was tossed around between 3 diffrent people as a captive this arc and its frying me

Aaron Barba

Seems like Villy convinced this big bad snake to save Jake

Dylan Hilliard

Oh interesting. I think the snake knows more then he is letting on. It's either directly from Villy, or the the orgin of records from Villy. The mention of a year is suspicious; possibly on purpose since we all know Jake will be teleported in about 2ish months. I wonder if a blessing was promised. Great chapter! I love this arch! It's surprisingly interesting with many implications.

Athena

tftc :D "cannot possibly represent my face..." -> "cannot possibly represent my race..."

Posiden 300

Why did that feel so short

djthomp

Interesting that the big snake didn't openly show a blessing from Villy or any particular reverence to Jake as the Chosen, sneaky politics are a snake's business it seems.

CallHimDan

Slow and steady wins the race, thanks for the chapter.

RunnerRunner

A year!? Doesn't the prima thing start soon?

Hornbach

I think they consider not getting crushed by villy as fortunate

J

I think the best way for Jake to rectify this would be if he is able to take a handful beyond the boundary and then to the order. The great snake if he is not coached by Billy is the only one with common sense enough. Jake was willing. Why make him an enemy and he will be a god before any of them not to mention primordial patron and god queen girl friend. Either of them could sneeze and destroy the minor world.

Phil Ritter

No what I expected but certainly interesting

NSaaby

Wondering if he can give the snake a blessing from Villy?

Vega

Nice. The Great Sea Serpent is even cooler than I thought it’d be

Staudi

Tyftc!

Miotara

I don't think the sea serpent got a blessing, Villy is restricted in the 93rd universe and they are in a minor world too. The only way for Villy to give blessings should be through challenge dungeons, evolutions or through a blessed. None of those were available to the serpent at that time. My guess is Villy just manipulated the minor world's records to draw the serpent's attention knowing how a snake that was at the top was likely to react to the situation (not acting rashly without having more information). If Villy was in that serpent's place, I think he would have reacted in a very similar way

definitelynotbrjenness

Possibility sea snake is play acting as directed by villy to fick with Jake / pound home a lesson

Levi Lowry

Well look at scarlet and how her attitude changed when she learned the truth. I have a feeling it will go along those lines but since this guy is the peak existence in the minor world the great serpent probably won’t be such a fan girl the way scarlet was

WhiteLeeopard

Lame. Seems Jake is indeed going to let things go and forgive and forget the Venusians and arachnecs for their huge insult and attempt to utterly destroy him. The Order, viper and Jake are going to become a laughingstock at this pace, and that is something that will eventually lead to even greater bloodshed to fix down the line as people start thinking they can act that way.

Psyck0

Hell get it from jake as a reward maybe allowing that final push to s grade though id expect them to wait till they can leave the minor world just so they could leave earlier.

definitelynotbrjenness

Oh...l9l...I took that as a weird venusian saying. Didn't even think of race.

Stubbsee

Jake called the great serpent the largest creature he had ever encountered in person. Does Ygdracil not count for this? He has definately encountered her in person and i find it hard to believe that this serpent is bigger.

Bale

Huh, interesting. TYFTC

dash w

Thanks for the chappy

Vega

It’s a little early to say what Jake’s & Villy’s reaction towards them would now be mate

Ryan Buck

If jake doesn’t make a frog or undead spider plague as revenge I’ll be disappointed ngl

Stubbsee

What are you on about? Im fairly sure the gods can freely give out blessings to pretty much anyone they are aware of in the 93rd universe. I CBA to go and find a source but im pretty sure Miranda got her blessing in the absence of these conditions. Not to mention the sword saint tho you could make the arguement that Aeon used some time shenanegains to give him the blessing in the past when one of these conditions was met but it seems silly to do so.

UNKNOWN

Congratulations! You are being saved. Please do not resist.

Zander P

Perhaps giving blessing to snake would allow Jake to bypass restrictions on side-along portal to the Order somehow? Could Villy have made deal for snake to save Jake, and pretend to “hide” him away for a year, while in reality, snake is at Order getting final push to S-grade while Jake competes at the Prima event? End goal for Snake to return to and dominate Venus as its only native S-grade until the time system opens up. Seems a pretty snekky plan, if restrictions could be bypassed at least.

djthomp

Villy might have been saving the opportunity to give the blessing for Jake to do, could be some meaningful records for him to bless a top tier A-grade.

Kevin Watson

This guy definitely got a fuckton of Villy records, the serpent kind of seems like the kind of creature tailor made to be Villy chosen

Matthew Smith

I don't care who does it, but I want the tri-horned frog dead. I do feel it is the most fitting for the sea serpent as that is basically a snake and snakes eat frogs.

Kota

Remember, Eversmile was able to project himself into Jake's tutorial, stop time, yoink out William, then resurrect and bless him. It seems the limitations are somewhat malleable when a Primordial is determined to get around them, and simply handing out a blessing with a few words seems way below what has been done already.

Kota

Now I'm really curious if the Serpent is acting this way because it knows more than it's letting on or if it's just smarter than the other A grades present (especially the Horned Slayer, not a tall order there). What exactly did the Viper do?

Blake N.

She’s a tree, so it probably just doesn’t fit same category to him

Meyster

I thinkbthe argument can be made that Ygg is a plant rather than a creature

Kota

Eh, Jake has already shown he can be forgiving, at least regarding slights born mainly of ignorance. The Frost Wyvern comes to mind as a decent parallel. As long as it's balanced out by Jake going ham on those who have no excuse and still piss him off, with the full knowledge of what that entails (see EH, Holy Church), I don't think Jake or the Order have to worry about their reputation.

David

I think he was thinking creature in the fauna sense. I would personally never refer to a plant as a creature. In the case of yggdrasil, I might use the word being or entity. Just my thoughts

thkiwow

I'm glad the epstein frog got hurt.

Bigskeet23

The Sea Serpent is the backup plan. Now Jack needs a sample of that venom for palate

Rewdan

Nar I think you’re right as I believe Villy somehow contacted the snake

Kota

Another point: Jake didn't sense a blessing on the Serpent, and Identify didn't show one either. And while the Serpent probably could hide this, why would it want to? Jake's the only one there who knows about blessings in the first place.

Yiskah

That sounds like peak Villy

David

Respectfully, I think you're entirely mistaken. There were blessings all over the place after the tutorial is over, and exponentially more in the period thereafter. Blessings seem to be the one area that God's have zero restrictions at the moment

itsdlow

Yeah definitely early to say, but it does look like Jake’s going to forgive them. I’m also really hoping he doesn’t just let this slide.

Rewdan

Thanks Zogarth, so Jake is still going to the event but will come back.

Loststar7

That definitely sounds like a Villy style plan.

Bobo

Tyfc

Andi & Daniel Dorantes

Reminds me of the Mother Snake from the Toriko franchise. The mother snake was a monster so large that when it traveled, just each individual scale on its body could be mistaken for the largest of mountains.

Dan Greaves

TYFTC! Interesting, I was expecting more to be revealed, I'm wondering if Villy has actually had a big role in this or just guided the Giant serpent up to the surface at a convenient time. I can fully see Villy using this to teach Jake the importance of grades again and that whilst the wider multiverse may respect the rules and be scared of pissing off a primordial, there are unexplored areas of the multiverse where if Jake just goes missing and never returns then it'll be considered a job well done. I'm glad the horned toad got an injury, I don't think it's over from Jakes perspective. I'm also expecting the monsters to be shocked at how quickly Jake can level once he starts spamming some alchemy practice. They're all under the impression that he's a monster and needs to cultivate energy. His rapid level rise and revelation of the enlightened races will certainly be news for all of them. Especially given he keeps talking about the entire environment being some toxic natural treasure. I expect alchemy levels to come flying in with some dedicated time

Cyranosaurus

Nooooooo!!!!!!! Great chapter, that ending though…..I feel like a starving man in the desert granted one drink from a flask before it was taken away😅

David

Agreed! Scarlett was basically a teenager in age and maturity, whereas this guy is thousands of years old. Should get a very different and interesting dynamic

Celas

The prima event will be accompanied with a teleport to the event of system origin. That is why ot was Jake's backup plan to leave the minor world

Kevin Hargett

He definitely has the ability to, and permission from Billy to do it.

David

A plague on all who don't get the reference! Lol Love it dude! The perfect quote for the situation! 😄

RonGAR

1yr in negoiations aka captivity? Hmmm Seems like Jake is going to enter the universal event like GOKU enters a fight... LATE with all of his friends almost dead, but just in time to save the day. Pure Aura Farming. LOLOL Well, he could always give a lower blessing like he gave to Scarlett.

Exaiter

Just bless that snake and problem solved no?

GenZVall

This entire Venus Exploration arc has been interesting with how different it has been from how I was expecting things to go. I was expecting Jake to have a brief period of invincibility given he’s just entered B-Grade, with Venus being a place where he’d get to flex and get a few levels. Going this direction instead makes me wonder what Zogarth is cooking 👀

Raymond Whitehead

Kinda suprised the frog got bit instead of the lich

kandiana

No skipping event, that's a System event after all. He'll just leave (get force teleported) in 2 months

Sadevare Johnson

I personally believe the snake is already blessed and helping Jake. This is the side option that Villy interfered with. The insurance, as it was.

kandiana

Pretty sure monsters level faster in general. And Alchemy is slow to level among professions. Jake got a lot of levels through Chosen stuff in C grade

Bruno D. Alvim

Big Frog was the one who attacked Jake

Strato Junon

"as I cannot possibly represent my face..." This is a hilarious typo.

Chance Haggerty

Yes I agree Jake should have just used his big smelly pot to wack the big horny frog over the head.

kandiana

All of the "first" blessings we know of (saw being given) were given through invitations sent during evolutions. Miranda got hers when she initiated class evolution. Sylphie - when she evolved her Race. SS got invitation that was "pending for months" And others were given through other blessed. Like when Jake blessed Chris or Scarlett

Bruno D. Alvim

Perhaps a blessing is all the Great Sea Serpent needs to evolve into S grade right now and rule the ignorant people of Venus

Colton Horton

I mean, Jake has been enjoying g the prestige and protectio. That comes with being a Villy's chosen for 1300 chapters now. Its kinda novel(hehe) at this point for him to meet a group of beings significantly more powerful than him who have no idea what that means. So far, anyone that much stronger has treated him as an equal because of his status as chosen and his own bloodline shenanigan potential. Primordial, Void gods, even the The god projections in nevermore. An intelligent people that have no clue how important he is is new Which is very impressive after this long in the series.

Daniel Brian

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it already has a blessing and has already met Vilas. With as powerful as it seems to be, I could see it hiding a blessing from Jake.🤔

Foot of Doom

Gamabunta gets handsy. Mega Manda uses bite. Foe is poisoned. It’s super effective!

Josie

I really like this snake's way of speaking as a contrast to Jake and Villy's casualness The way he keeps his intentions unknown, if he has silly string arms like the other snakes I bet he'd make a great poker player lol

Summer Coff

It would be incredibly funny if this wasn't Villy's plan at all and Villy was like "welp, interference unnecessary I GUESS"

Summer Coff

I feel odd about the fact that we never got the color of the Serpent's scales.

zran

eh, id say the snake is far more aware of things to a degree and is just doing what a snake best does, that or once he gets to know proper the viper it will let jake go away once it gets a direct hotline to the viper

Carl Never

I so wish for a pot wack

zran

ehhh.... that is kinda risky at his current grade, there is a reason the viper gives him poisons(beers) fitting for his grade palate gives inmunity to poisons yeah, but there is limits to that inmunity, and a poison coming from a peak A grader being drank by a recently evolved b graded most likely will get very affected if not outright will die by it

Miotara

I was thinking of those too. Sandie got hers via Jake, if I remember right Villy asked Jake for permission to use him as some sort of medium so that Snappy could reach Sandie. I forgot to mention one of the ways that gods can give blessings as well are the tutorials. They had access to those, they could influence them and in the case of Villy and Eversmile even appear into them but they cannot do that in the 93rd Universe. I think gods tend to give heaps of blessings during the tutorial because those blessed act like windows, they allow the gods that blessed them to look into the new universe and through them bless others. Otherwise why would gods be so interested in E grades?

Koof Tron

Looking forward to a proper fight between peak A grade Jake and the frog jerk in 2030 when he’s matched in level😂

zran

imo what the viper most likey did was bless one of those snakes jake did meet at the nest in a sneaky way so jake could not notice, then use it as a sort of messenger so he could then talk to directly as posible

zran

eh, for jake teleport anyone out of the minor world he will need to bring them out of the boundary, and i do not think a blessing(even if its a divine one) will allow him to get any a grader outside and even if there is the a light posibility of that happening, i doubt anyone wont notice a frikking huge snake go towards the boundary, granted, is unlikely anyone will dare to do anything in such scenario seeing how easily where peeing themselves in his presence, but then and there they will know they got tricked

Corvid

They are orange

Summer Coff

The eye was. Where did it say the scales were?

zran

then let be, jake is not the kind to curse a whole race to oblivion due to the actions of a few, especially when the shaman show her dislike of the way their leaders acted towards jake

Bookb0y

Horned slayer just got b**** slapped

Michael

So Villy didn't bless the snake, what did he do then?

Rhysal

I feel like Jake would be able to tell if anyone carried a blessing of Villy. My guess is he will be the one to give it a blessing and Villy will make it a bigger blessing then what Jake could give on his own.

DeAndrea H

I like that the description of the snake just sounds like the depiction of Villy on the cover of Book 1. Can’t wait for the snake tomorrow to be like “…alright. Those idiots are gone. You okay, little buddy?”

Mrburns93

Jake will be able to kill that frog before even making A grade. Mid to peak B grade is when he'll start turning his bow on A grades.

Colin

Tyftc!!

Jimbo

Not enter the boundary. Stay under his watch. Protection. None of that means Jake can't leave. Snake being snakey. Blessing incoming.

Christian Almanza

I really like the direction Zogarth took with this Arc, the Venusian did have a point, Jake basically arrived out of nowhere and expect everyone agree to everything he said and wanted, he was to used to be respected and listened to, both on earth and the multiverse, being the strongest on earth and Villy’s chosen on the Multiverse, nobody really questioned him, and due to his bloodline even gods talk and treat him as a god himself

Jimbo

He'll be plucked out automatically.

Jimbo

Just a taste...

Jimbo

That would be so dishonest! So likely

Nexas Aurelias

At thr rate were going? Id say the fighr will be November 2029 😆 🤣

Josie

Villy has said he's supremely aware of his Records and since all snakes carry his Records, my guess is the "small touch" he talked about was him manipulating his own records within the sea serpent. At least that's what I've been hoping for ever since Villy said he put his hand on the scale

Quantainium C

Jake's definitely going to ask the sea serpent when he's alone if he's spoken to the viper.

SmokeJam

Well, definitely a better position now, but I would still recommend dipping and placing some nukes at the entrance. Shaman guy might be an ok dude, but nobody should be allowed to leave again, if they do, feed them to Colin, he's a good boy. (Would be the funniest crossover ever, shirtaloon and zogarth) Only return when A grade and use those fuckers as Hunting Grounds like the Pantheon of Life did. They wanted an enemy because he looked weaker and they were scared? Give it to them, no better way to teach a lesson that might not kill them all than wait for it to blow up again.

BumAssBumAss

The beginning of the arc didn't seem that interesting, but it's finally ramping up. Hopefully Jake won't miss the system event while staying captive.

Nathan Holliday

They don’t seem to get that he will just disappear when the event begins.

ABTelford

Ha! Both expected and unexpected, love it! Thanks Zogarth!

Episode 19

Hmm, may we introduce a wonderful woman named Scarlet to you, oh Great Sea Serpent? tyftc

Bookreader97

My guess is the snake has a really cool cave and/or poison he wants to show Jake. Probably the same thing that got him to the power he's at currently. Then he's gonna let him go

Brian

Prediction: with the next couple months before the system event Jake uses his Jake Juice to help the snek evolve to S Grade and gives him a blessing.

Bookreader97

If Villy had given the snake a blessing wouldn't Jake be able to tell? Seems like villy is holding off purely for comedic value. I bet he told the snake he would get one if he saves jake

Zander P

I think it has beed alluded to multiple times that Jake can teleport directly to the order without going to boundary, but he needs time to set up a circle. Not sure why it would be different for another blessed to leave in the same fashion

ABTelford

Hahaha! Smelly pot ultimate weapon! 😆

Sean McClain

Jake can bless the snake, as a choosen he has that power.

Josh Strange

He didn't that I could find. Good catch! I thought they were orange, but you are correct it is just the Big 🐍's eyes.

Josh Strange

It's incredibly impressive that Zog is capable of keeping us all on our toes 1300+ chapters in. The list of authors that can do that, without getting pretty predictable, is astonishingly small.

Tony Breckenridge

sometimes groups just don’t have the cards to play. their sentiment is understandable, but inevitably they really don’t have anything to bargain with. The multiverse in practice regarding power and subordinate positions isn’t too different from our own.

GenZVall

This brings to mind how Primal Hunter (my first LitRPG) hooked me in a way that some of the others I’ve tried haven’t been able to. Chapter 8 give or take was the Bloodline reveal, which immediately caught my interest. A few chapters later was the infamous Challenge Dungeon that made Jake an Alchemist, and all the stuff with Alchemy and how it worked was something I found super interesting and further hooked me. Not to mention the lore build up of the Malefic Viper. Then there was the reveal of Villy himself and the revelation that gods were a thing in the Primal Hunter verse (and little did we realize back then how big of a deal Villy actually was). Villy’s role as a mentor and the friendship dynamic between him and Jake was the final nail in the coffin that kept me around for the long haul. And interspersed within all that were all the other side characters. All that within 24 chapters give or take if I’m remembering right. All of which has been only built upon further in the 1300+ chapters since.

Dan Greaves

I think you're probably right in general, but I think Jake levels oddly quickly and I think it's related to the fact he hasn't achieved his natural level yet. (No race evolution quests). His alchemy levels also come rapidly whenever he creates new things and in this new toxic 'natural treasure' planet I feel like he'll be creating a lot of new things. Also he has access to the gate of enlightenment to help with rapid conceptual acquisition. I'm not saying he's going to power level just because he is enlightened...but because he's Jake. The only way to level his alchemy is to create stuff which will be the revelation part of the enlightened species.

Sean McClain

I dont think any blessings have occurred (yet), just some records manipulation. The great serpent will feel kinship to Jake for a reason it can't quite figure out. And it didn't want this long lost kin to be made into a slave of inferior beings. It heard about this even greater serpent beyond the boundry and briefly felt it when Jake was trying to argue out of the contract and it will ask Jake who this being is and why it feels kinship to it and Jake. Rather then explaining, Jake just blesses the Snake giving it a conduit to the the Villy. After that it all becomes a moot point as the great sea serpent effectivly joins the Order and thus becomes Jake's subordinate.

Jacob Toone

I love how you wrote this chapter. Instead of the snake simply coming in and immediately saving Jake and killing everyone, there is some ambiguity on whether Jake is out of deep water just yet. Of course the chapter before foreshadows that Villy played a role, so it’s safe to assume that Jake is safe. But we know that while Jake doesn’t. Anyways, love the chapter! Keep it up!

Jared

You produce these chapters at such an incredible pace and yet—every single day—I find myself sad I need to wait another 24 hours! And the weekends are almost unbearable! I miss the days when I knew there were 10, 9, 8 books remaining and I could just churn through them all as fast as I want!

Lemonsqueezy

Jake has the ability to see blessings, but I think it gets a little weird when he is trying to identify someone of a higher grade or significantly higher power. Higher grades are able to hide details about them better and only those above them in power can bypass that ability. Jake is a slightly different case because of his ability to hide almost everything about him or even make it say something else. So it really depends on how Zog wants to write it.

Lemonsqueezy

I am thinking that Villy has already spoken to the Serpent and when Jake leaves with him the serpent is going to have a talk and then let Jake leave. Jake will then return after the SoTEP event to have another chat with the serpent and take a few ambassadors with him across the border. We do still have the matter of who Jake is going to bless. I believe Jake is going to bless the Shaman and Archweaver before he leaves with the serpent. Also we will see if the serpent was actually given a direct blessing by Villy.

Bookreader97

I agree and figured that would apply to blessings from other gods. But u would think that by him being a chosen he could identify anyone with a lesser blessing (from villy). Especially since he’s able to give them out lol

Lemonsqueezy

Yeah it will be awhile for sure. It took nearly 700 chapters for Jake to go from C to B grade. That is at least 2 years worth of chapters.

Rhysal

The way I read it, nothing can stop him from accepting that system event. I don’t think even gods have that kind of power as the system dwarfs even primordial power.

Lemonsqueezy

That would be the case. If the serpent is blessed and aligns with the Order it would make him a subordinate of Jake by default. We still do not know for sure if the Serpent hasn't already gotten a blessing, but I like where you are going more. Maybe Jake will bestow a blessing to the serpent, but I am more inclined to think Jake is going to give the Shaman and Archweaver one. In this arc they have really become his friends. It will also connect them to the order and in turn they could better inform their factions more about what is really going on and who Jake is.

Lemonsqueezy

I honestly don't know if Jake is powerful enough to help a creature that is so much more powerful than he is. Jakes harbinger of primeval origin is strong, but it is still limited to Jake's current grade.

Lemonsqueezy

They do not even know that that is going to happen. Jake has never divulged anything about the SoTEP event or the fact that he will be forced teleported to it once it starts, and I doubt he will.

Lemonsqueezy

Only problem is that the Great Sea Serpent seems to also want to protect the minor world and its inhabitants. I don't think the Serpent would try to kill Jake because its natural alignment with the Order, but it definitely could inhibit Jake from causing harm.

Brian

You may be right there, but I don’t remember anything saying it’s limited to his current grade. I could see that going either way.

Lemonsqueezy

Strong resemblance to the norse Jörmungandr, or the world serpent. Which makes sense because Zog pulls a lot of reference from the old Greek, Roman, and Norse gods for names, personalities, and abilities.

Lemonsqueezy

There could still be a blessing from Villy, but you are probably correct that Villy just gave the snake a small nudge to intefere.

Lemonsqueezy

He could have. A peak A-Grade should be able to hide its blessing from Jake. I doubt it at this point, but the possibility is there.

Lemonsqueezy

We can probably assume that it is green or brown like a sea snake on Earth. Zog seems to have used the Norse tale of Jörmungandr for this snake. It is never specifically stated what he looks like as for color, but I expect it to look like him. In the God of War series Jörmungandr is depicted as having pale-blue scales, orange eyes, and a thin slit for a pupil, but that is just a video game.

beeve

If we get a chapter tomorrow

beeve

I wonder if we will find out

beeve

Yeah Jake can hand out blessings but needs villys help to hand out a bigger one which he probably will do

Numbzy

So i wonder if the Serpent is already blessed. He might have a weaker version of the Jake's shroud hiding it or its capable of hiding it himself considering how powerful/talented he seems to be.

beeve

Probably not? Idk he has to do some crazy mediation and gate of enlightenment to get there. The guy is near peak A grade.. we haven’t seen Jake use meditation or the gate since the first time he was there which seems like a waste

beeve

Well meditation with the gate.. also more pages should be open now for the sages book. That would be one of the first things I expected him to do when hitting B grade

beeve

I wouldn’t want to evolve if I were him.. he should want to get out of there before evolving and that would probably delay it longer

Summer Coff

Jörmungandr in Joroboros's Kin of Jörmungandr is yellow, too. That's why I ask, because I wouldn't take it for granted.

Lemonsqueezy

To me it is more related to Jörmungandr from Norse mythology, especially since Zog is from Denmark. This Mother Snake you refer to probably also was influenced by that myth. Zog has frequently used names, looks, and abilities from gods in the Roman, Greek, and Norse mythologies. He seems to use anime for story development, powers, and plot for influence. I see a lot things that infer inspiration from DBZ.

definitelynotbrjenness

don't let zog fool you. Bigsnek is a baddie. villy is sending dire platypus and his poison hippo allies to rescue jake.

Adam Steen

So excited to so a Jormungundr like character in a series involving a snake God! We need more Jormungundrs

Lemonsqueezy

It was stated in this chapter that the venom would kill Jake outright. However, bringing a sample of that poison to VIlly would be a nice gift.

Lemonsqueezy

Blessing or not, I am under the strong opinion that Villy has communicated with the Great Sea Serpent in some way. The snake came to safely get Jake away from the others and through the boundary after they have a small chat.

Ed

A suiter for crimson snake. I forget her name.

definitelynotbrjenness

So The Exalted Prima. what does... never mind. figured it out. Seat of... if anybody else was wondering

Lemonsqueezy

Same. However, I do not think the Lich or Horned Slayer have any future prospects. They insulted Jake and therefor insulted the Order and Villy. If they ever get out of the minor world, they probably shouldn't ever leave the 93rd. They are probably destined to stagnate and go from being the strongest to one of the weaker on their planet. They will probably never see S-Grade for what they did to Jake.

Kota

All definitely possible, though I wouldn't entirely discount the Viper playing a minimalist here and giving the Serpent no more than a hint that something interesting is happening over there, which it might want to check out.

Lemonsqueezy

A lot of issues with that. The system specifically stated that they can only leave the boundary with a native of the 93rd, at least the first time. They have to be physically brought through, and the being cannot be stronger than the native. Villy is strong, but he is nothing compared to the System. Villy himself stated that he cannot just teleport people out that are from this minor world. Until the boundary is completely dropped, anyone more powerful that Jake has no chance of leaving. From what I have read the system doesn't have exploitable loopholes. The rules can often be bent, or slightly manipulated, but never outright broken. Jake is a special case, there have been several instances where Jake's bloodline told the system to fuck off, specifically when it came to skill choices.

Lemonsqueezy

I had to look it up. I didn't watch the last three Star Wars movies. I saw parts of Episode 7, but not the full thing.

Lemonsqueezy

Yeah Jake punishes the individual not the entire community.

R Mac

Scarlett

Lemonsqueezy

Yggdrasil could be smaller than the serpent in length, or Zog forgot about Ygg, or like others have said, Ygg is not considered a creature. I also believe the Great Tree is a representation of Yggdrasil's power and not Yggdrasil herself. Ygg did appear to Jake as a normal human like being.

R Mac

I would suspect nobody could hide a blessing from Jake since he’s the chosen

Lemonsqueezy

I am sure they would have been killed by Jake if Jake could do so. It might be something that comes about later when Jake reaches A-Grade or peak B-Grade. They could also meet their demise later down the road when/if they enter the multiverse. I am sure the Order isn't going to let their actions go. Villy is not at all forgiving and will probably punish all that were involved severely when he can do so.

R Mac

This will be similar to Scarlett. Jake releasing a pulse of pride or whatever the skill was probably alerted the sea serpent to his presence or gave him some insight that they are related somehow. I think the sea serpent is alluding to knowledge bc it doesn’t understand why it’s drawn to Jake. Jake can then give him a blessing and have a guardian. How villy put his thumb on the scale would still be unexplained in this scenario though

Lemonsqueezy

It would be weird for those to be the only ways to bless someone. The gods bless millions of people all the time. It wouldn't make sense for them to have to wait for specific instances to throw a blessing to someone. Honestly, I think there are just small plot holes in the story. Zog probably writes things like Villy using Jake to bless Sandie as ways to introduce specific abilities of the gods. I think the gods just have to be aware of a person to bless them. In the specific case of Sandie, I think Villy had to use Jake because Snappy didn't know of Sandie yet. So Villy had to be a conduit for Snappy to reach Jake and therefor Sandie.

Numbzy

I feel like they definitely could, especially since it feels like he rarely looks for the blessings. And besides, Vilas said that the skill used to hide blessings, uses Vilas' records, so he could definitely hide it from a B Grade, even a chosen.

definitelynotbrjenness

when jake finishes SoTEP, he will return to the order. villy will be sitting on his couch behind a table with 3 circle. two have items. one is empty. "what are those?" "three options: the first will destroy Venus. the second will seal venus." "and the third?" "the third will allow you to continue to jake things up."

Lemonsqueezy

Yeah, I think the Serpent is well aware of what is going on and is just getting Jake out of there so he can leave the minor world without having to kill everyone present to do so. The whole year thing seems like a ruse so the other two factions are not aware of his departure and just think he is hanging out with the Serpent. Jake will then return after the SoTEP event to figure out what to do with this minor world. Would definitely give Zog some "bite of life" chapters to write after the SoTEP arc to get us into the next major arc. I think we are getting to the end of system created events for the 93rd though. Especially since it seems to be a Universe wide competition. Each system even has gotten larger and incorporated more people. We had the tutorial, which was pretty much city/town wide. Then moved into factions and countries, then planet wide, then Galaxy, now Universal. Slowly weeding out people and determining who will ultimately be the "leader" of the 93rd universe. After that the 93rd fully opens up (with probably restrictions on grade for awhile). This will then trigger the system to start the creation the 94th universe (what a big bang is) and in a few billion years we start again.

doctordirt

I don't think it will be that easy

Lemonsqueezy

Ooo that is a interesting perspective. If Villy didn't already bless the snake, it would definitely give Jake a bucket load of XP for doing it. I am excited to see what Villy did to help Jake out. He had to at least do something to get this world serpent to help out Jake and nearly kill the Horned Slayer.

John Durrett

tyftc. So....Mr. Great Horned Frog rolled Snake Eyes. :P

Lemonsqueezy

These last dozen or so chapters have been quite enthralling to read and makes them seem so short. I have even checked world and character counts and they are mostly the same size or even longer than the average. Zog has also dropped a cliffhanger at the end of every single one of them about Venus making it even more painful for us.

Lemonsqueezy

It is talking about outside the boundary. So it is fortunate for them that there are restrictions preventing overpowered beings from completely destroying their world. I take it as them saying "if we use Jake to get out, we would have no problems taking over and being safe". Pretty much trying to convince the world snake to be on their side and force Jake to sign the contract.

JayseKnyte

I was hoping horny toad would be a snake snack but fighting for his life from venom is a nice consolation....

micah Hogan

Right!? Truly a devastating and cold act of time upon us mortals

Lemonsqueezy

I am under the same assumption. Villy did something to get the World Serpent to help Jake. This whole year of captivity thing is a way for Jake to be safe and leave the boundary, while making the other factions believe Jake is still on the minor world. Jake could also just hang out with the serpent until he is teleported out so that the other factions wouldn't even be able to tell that he left. Not sure if Jake would immediately be teleported back to the minor world or if he could choose where he returned after the SoTEP event. Either way, the serpent knows, is hiding it from the others, and Villy's sneaky ass has done something to set it all up.

Lemonsqueezy

I think Villy is the direct reason the serpent showed up at all, and is probably why the Horned Slayer just got punished for what he did to Jake. To me, I do not think the serpent would have a reason to care about any of this without some sort of influence from Villy. It follows the same reasoning as the others on the minor world in the belief that they are at the Apex and why would anyone care about the death, torture, or slavery of a newly evolved B-Grade. Villy had to somehow communicate with the Serpent to inform him of how important Jake is outside the boundary, and what causing him harm would mean for their small and insignificant world.

Lemonsqueezy

Blessing or not, Villy managed to communicate with the World Serpent in some way. I just don't see the serpent having a reason to interfer otherwise.

Jeff McCulley

The Sea Serpent is going to take him back and off him some beer. Toxic beer. I’m currently trying to sort out whether Villy actually gave a blessing—or told the Sea Snake that Jake would.

Jeff McCulley

Well, we know it wasn’t Box Cars

Jeff McCulley

I think Villy has already given a blessing. That, or said that Jake would.

Lemonsqueezy

Definitely not a fan girl like Scarlet, but more of a stoic respect. The serpent probably knows or will know that its existence is because of Villy, and that Jake is the Chosen of this god, and in turn is to be revered by him. If the Serpent is/gets blessed and joins the order, he becomes a subordinate to Jake. Due to the nature of a Chosen being seen as the second in command and to be treated as the god themselves would be.

definitelynotbrjenness

after meeting jake, villy destroyed one of the monuments in his domain. does jake have the bloodline of either his child or wife and only villy knows this?

Jeff McCulley

I’m pretty sure they could if Villy wanted it hidden—and Vikki would think that hiding it from Jake in this situation would be hilarious!

Lemonsqueezy

I think this is a way for Jake to disappear, but for the other factions to believe that he hasn't left the minor world. This gives Jake time to complete the SoTEP event and then return without anyone knowing otherwise.

Lemonsqueezy

Absolutely not! We need to know for sure what Villy did.

definitelynotbrjenness

ackshually it was only a single snake eye as it was clearly described as an ocean of orange with a single slit.

Jeff McCulley

If Villy didn’t want Jake to see a Blessing, Jake wouldn’t. And Villy would find it hilarious for Jake not to see a Blessing in that situation. Or, for that matter, Villy might have been indirect, and Blessed a snake Nomad who went to talk to the Sea Snake, and told him about it.

Jeff McCulley

Why bother blocking anything? The only ones who can get out are the ten B grades that Jake escorted out. Plus, any other native that escorts someone out will be weaker than Jake.

Lemonsqueezy

Yeah I got tired of typing out the entire thing long ago. Biggest reason I said I would like some of these important characters to get proper names. Shaman could become Sammy, Archweaver could be Archie, and the Serpent could be called Jormungandr (which we could shorten to Jorge or something) because I think that is where Zog got the influence for the Great Sea Serpent. Otherwise we end up using acronyms for everything.

Jeff McCulley

Nah. The Sea Seeoent will toss out an “I greet the Chosen of the Malefic” and apologize for not saying it sooner, before Jake gets a chance. Assuming that’s the scales Villy put his thumb on.

Lemonsqueezy

Nope because he got the achievement for being the first and only one to have that bloodline (Patriarch title). Unless I am mistaken, which if that is the case then that is definitely and interesting theory.

definitelynotbrjenness

he did get the title. question is... does a recycled bloodline that has not existed for billions of years give the title.

Josie

I love how the Serpent just swooped in and monopolized Jake "I don't even know what that thing is, but it's definitely mine now"

Lemonsqueezy

It really could go either way at this point. Really depends on what Villy would have to do to communicate with it. Could he naturally do it because the Serpent would be considered a sort of descendent of Villy, or did Villy just give the Serpent a blessing so that he could then communicate with it and then make a deal/or more tell it to go save Jake and in turn it would be blessed.

Lemonsqueezy

Could have just been giving some bombastic side eye to the group. It was described as being ridiculously large and its one eye was taking up the entire sky.

Lemonsqueezy

Jake will always choose to Jake things up. My guess is that this whole thing is just a ruse to get Jake out of the area and make the other factions believe he is on the minor world for the next year. When actually the snake has been informed that Jake will be teleported to the event soon and it might be a year before he returns.

Lemonsqueezy

I agree. I think a deal was struck for the serpent to go get Jake, punish the Horned Slayer, and then hide Jake until he can finish the SoTEP event. In return the serpent would get a blessing and be able to reach S-Grade. Villy would probably also require the Serpent to pledge allegiance to the Order to prevent it from doing something nefarious after it gets what it wants.

Philipp

This is some crazy theory I think the blood line is too op Villy is too surprised whenever a new evolution happens But maybe he felt like a rest of the recycled soul?

Lemonsqueezy

I am glad that I am not the only one that equated the serpent to Jormungandr.

definitelynotbrjenness

I can't explain how it became forbidden knowledge preventing nature's attendant from recognizing it. yeah, I could see villy's mate or child having an indomitable spirit/soul/bloodline

Lemonsqueezy

I think seeing a blessing on someone is a different skill, or maybe a higher tier of the skill that he could or could not use. So in this case, Jake just used the lower tier identify skill to quickly see what the creatures "name" was. Probably because he would be assuming that the serpent wouldn't have a blessing.

ABTelford

You are wrong - Villy didn’t destroy either monument, he visited and on another occasion he was trying something that had the runes lit up but failed and got discouraged but the Jake reached out to him and he got cheered up. No monument was ever destroyed. Heck before Nevermore Natures attendant asked to go visit “them” and Villy agreed.

ABTelford

Oh! Thats a good theory - that Villy reached out and said Jake could give him a blessing.

definitelynotbrjenness

I am never wrong. you misheard me. I clearly stated villy's next experiment failed because the bloodline had been recycled. yep exactly what I said. ohh, would you look at the time. gotta run.

ABTelford

I was. Thanks. People use acronyms way too much.

Lemonsqueezy

When it comes to Jake it definitely could. In the way the system works though it doesn't seem like someone of a lower grade could do anything truly beneficial. Jake infusing his b-grade energy into a peak A-Grade probably wouldn't have any significant influence or boost. Kind of like how the B-Grade potions Jake can create would do very little for someone that is A-Grade. The stat differences are just too significant. You could also think of it as being the difference in giving someone a hundred dollars who only has 1000 and giving the same thing to someone that has a million. To the first it is a significant boost, to the other it is chump change.

Lemonsqueezy

Would be like a world champion body builder with a 5' Asian woman.

ABTelford

No mention of the color of the snakes scales and I really want to know. The eye is a glowing orange, which is an awesome visual.

Lemonsqueezy

A fate worse than death. Humiliation and probably a long lasting if not permanent scar on his soul. Which would severely hinder its ability to level or gain power because it has to heal.

Lemonsqueezy

For Jake to get to the gate he has to go into a very deep meditation and while doing so he has no awareness of the real world. So Jake would probably only do that while he is at the Order. Time also has no meaning so Jake could be lost in meditation and miss the SoTEP event because even system notifications cannot be seen. Lastly, Jake is way to low of a level to stare at the gate for long. It is meant for peak S-Grades and Gods to use and can cause serious damage to Jake if he uses it too often or for too long. I expect we will see it again the next time Jake gets some more Vision points he can use and talks with TFS again, or when he figures out what his boots want him to do.

Lemonsqueezy

That definitely would cause a delay. He would have to wait for Jake to reach S-Grade or wait probably thousands of years for the boundary to completely drop if he evolved to S-Grade. Of course the Serpent might not care, if he does reach S-Grade he has several thousand years to gain levels anyway and waiting wouldn't really be a big issue for him. The other A-Grades want to leave to specifically reach the next grade and expand their empires. The serpent can just sit back on the minor world and let his people do that for him. It is not like the guy can easily go anywhere anyway, unless it manages to be able to shift into a human like being. He is just too large to visit anywhere. Even at the Order, he would be restricted to being outside like Snappy.

Foot of Doom

I’d be so sad if I died $100 shy of immortality

JW Saxby

Reminds me of the cover art for the first book 👍🏼

Lemonsqueezy

Yeah the Frog was the one that harmed Jake. The Lich was trying to do something nefarious which seems to be what all the A-Grades wanted. However, the Frog was the one that threatened, assaulted, and tried to strongarm Jake into signing. I would like to have seen them all punished and the Horned Slayer killed, but I can settle for what was done here. Mostly because I can see this punishment as being a permanent debuff on the guy. If it doesn't outright prevent him from ever reaching S-Grade it would definitely slow the progress down significantly while he heals his wounds.

Toni

I bloody love this arc. Big snek is a badass and i cheered when he fucked up that horned bastard

JW Saxby

Amazing chapter 👍🏼😁👍🏼 Tftc 🍻

Lemonsqueezy

*cough* Defiance of the Fall *cough*

Lemonsqueezy

Either already blessed, or promised a blessing if he helps Jake.

Lemonsqueezy

I think this is all a ruse to hide Jake until he finishes the SoTEP event, or just let him leave the boundary without anyone the wiser.

Foot of Doom

Scarlett’s new boyfriend is secretly a massive scaly nerd and takes Jake for a bit of toxic tea laid out on his noodle arm knitted doilies with a few poisonous pastries

Ron Whitlatch

It would be hilarious if it was another snake from the primordial church who is trying to get favor with villy. So it is kinda of a lame situation instead cool 🤣

Jtk

Wonder if Villy promised a blessing/reward to the servant if he got Jake out without letting Jake know he’s on his side… keep his thumb on the scale secret to not let Jake feel too bad lol

Lemonsqueezy

Monster's level faster because it is easier for them to do so. They can just absorb energy to level. Enlightened level slower because they have to level a class and a profession but get more power for each level. Essentially, enlightened species have to level twice as much. It is a way to balance the system between monsters and the enlightened.

Seen Death

I might be wrong but although every chosen can request for people to be blessed and likely it will happen, Jake is a bit unique because of his heritic path where he can forcefully give one of Villys blessings without his consent. Although Jake always asks first because he can mentally communicate with Villy literally at any time(minus system events), and he wouldnt want to make his friend (who is a powerful god) angry for no reason Jake doesnt abuse that power, and i think Villy is just enjoying the ride that seems to just keep paying off so he doesnt really have a reason to refuse Im not sure if Scarletts blessing has repaid the viper yet, but thats not unusual and is also completely overshadowed by Jakes own contributions

Lemonsqueezy

Which checks out, because the Gods have issues communicating with others. Blessings are usually the requirement, and even then the efficiency of communicating is severely diminished the lower the blessing is. The lowest blessing can only feel intent or emotion of their Patrons. While the Chosen can have full telepathic communication with them. Those in between have various levels between those two extremes. I think in this case, Villy can communicate at least intent with the snake due to it kind of being a descendent of Villy.

Lemonsqueezy

Definitely a fitting being, Snappy is another good fit. However, they both already have a Chosen and they can only ever have one at a time.

Jeff McCulley

Just struck me. Each Administrator Candidate was allowed to take four assistants, and—iirc—it was speculated that in a hundred days, each Administrator would be able to as well. Only…no one ever mentioned Jake taking anyone along. Yes, that would be Miranda’s job. So…assuming I’m remembering correctly, if Jake leaves for the Even from this Mirror World…couldn’t/wouldn’t he take his four assistants from here? And that maybe would count as “escorting out”?

Lemonsqueezy

It is more beneficial to chose a lower grade because the god would get a lot more out of the achievements their chosen gets. At the beginning these achievements are very frequent. If you bless a peak A-Grade or an S-Grade you would only get benefits from what they achieve until they reach godhood and when they can no longer be a chosen. However, there is a significant risk because your chosen can be easily killed before reaching godhood (if they ever do). Having your Chosen killed causes a significant backlash. This happens with anyone with a blessing, but the greater the blessing the more backlash is felt if they die. It is a risk-reward thing.

That series is what made me stop and reflect on why I liked Primal Hunter so much, because I tried getting into Defiance of the Fall since it was a “big name” LitRPG that preceded even Primal Hunter. Yet no matter how much I tried, it just never clicked with me and I never got into it. Same with He Who Fights With Monsters 😅 I had to stop and think about why Primal Hunter clicked while Defiance of the Fall didn’t, and it was then I realized how good of a job Zogarth did with his first 24 chapters in which so much happened and was built up. Compared with Defiance, where in the same number of chapters… nothing much happens in comparison 😅

There are circumstances where Gods can communicate with mortals in the 93rd Universe, even during the Tutorial. I’m not sure how that translates to a minor world, though, since the only one we’ve previously seen was just an echo of a real one. The Gods were cut off there, for the Event. It seems apparent they aren’t here.

Lemonsqueezy

I blame it on my military career and subsequent work I do with the DoD. Acronyms everywhere and sometimes the same acronym is used but are for different things.

definitelynotbrjenness

I know the response I'll receive, but did anything say a-grade natives could not be brought?

definitelynotbrjenness

on the brightside, if we do not get a chapter tomorrow, we can argue about how the heck a snake large enough to wrap around a world could get two fangs into a venusian horny toad.

Jeff McCulley

I think the question would be whether or not they’re considered full “natives”, because I’m pretty sure the Event is still taking place in the 93rd universe. Pretty sure the answer would be “no”. Otherwise, teleporting to the Order with the Sea Dragon could be…fun?

Quantainium C

Those holes are obviously just two of the serations of one of his fangs.

Xander

TFTC :) Sugessted edits: "The mass of scales continued shifting as the massive beast" "the massive snake" "the massive A-grade's attention" "formed massive walls" "a massive black slit" Repetitive phrasing. All these are within like 20 sentences. "enormous", "giant", "gigantic", "vast", "mountainous", "gargantuan" theres dozens of possibilities. "truly put any of the ones present in its eyes." youve used this unfamiliar phrase before, I think. "truly judge any of those present as worthy of consideration" maybe? My memory is bad so forgive me for not remembering what happened wtth the last instance. "letting out *heaved* breaths as two" feels like it should be "heaving". Oddly, if you used "laboured" the tense would seem fine to me so fork nose. "*Does* the rest agree with the protégé" should be "Do" "I cannot possibly represent my *face*..." should be "race", right?

definitelynotbrjenness

yeah, my entire reason for suggesting it was based on the amount of shut talking Caleb would give jake about cheating.

Quantainium C

Currently... It seems that Jake needs to be stronger than the company he takes out.. if another A grade in the 93rd universe is capable of going into the world safely then there is potential for that A grade to bring out creatures that are less powerful than it is.

definitelynotbrjenness

I thought i was smart fir 3 seconds when I realized Bigsnek would have no idea what a human was... until I remembered identify.

beeve

lol

definitelynotbrjenness

how soon is Arnold going to get concerned and figure out a way to send a rescue party?

Jules Deathwish

How long before the system zaps him over to the Exalted Prima Event?

Léon

Haha, way to go, Vilas :D

Baged

2'ish months

Baged

I doubt that he doubts that Jake survives.

Jeff McCulley

Sure, but that A grade would have to KNOW about it.

definitelynotbrjenness

I was meaning the system pulled them to event bypassing restriction to leave venus.

Jeff McCulley

Sure, but the event is still in the 93rd universe.

Blake N.

The tree is her real body and divine realm, Jake talked to an avatar

Zizawah

Scarlett’s blessing was upgraded by Villy from something lesser to divine.

Justin

Likely been said but guessing big snake knows all about villy and who Jake is but didn’t reveal that bc it’d of put Jake in danger. The others wouldn’t of just let him take Jake if they knew big sea serpent already switched sides (team multiverse)

John Durrett

It was so big only one eye could fit in view. ;)

James Davis

Best i can think of is either a skill for precision striking or maybe bigsnek used polymorph to quickly shrink his head down small enough to bite him then grow large again quicker than anyone could react to

James Davis

Well it did work on a fragment of a demon god heart so there could be an argument to be made that if bigsnek has some kind of ritual in mind to progress to s grade a little jake juice thrown into the mix could help tip the balance toward success. Especially if you add in the potential records of a high level blessing if villy gives the ok for jake to dole one out

Josie

that was an extra satisfying chapter for me after such suspense. great build up and pay off imo 🐍

UNKNOWN

The Malefic Viper, also known as Billastromoz

DeAndrea H

I have about 10 authors I follow on Patreon but I only pay for access for 4-5 at a time. Zogarth is never on the “cancel and resubscribe in a few months” cut list.

DeAndrea H

It’s bc Bigsnek rocked up with major BDE.

Brian Schutt

He was able to instantly tell the Wyrmgods chosen because it had a type of feel to it or something. The S-Grade one with starry eyes was the chosen at the end of the Nevermore Arc party.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

I'm just glad I didn't get roped into this nonsense. I got dungeon stuff to do y'know? Very important stuff that doesn't get enough credit I tell ya!

ABTelford

Love your reply, it made me laugh! Thx for that. 😊

Michael mann

I thoroughly enjoyed this and I’m glad the Horned Slayer was left alive. Hopefully he’s gonna get hunted by an A Grade Jake in the future.

Fylbrom

It's refreshing to have a hard wall for Jake to run into. His abilities have brought him far and he has mostly overcome everything with his own dummy strength and cheat existence. Finally seeing him meet a situation where neither his bullshit or his power were enough is a good slap of reality for us as readers seeing him be basically an OP MC where nothing stands a chance. That short intermission from Villy's pov was a nice setup for this, and genuinely a nice reminder that Villy will step in when Jake is being extra stupid, as a good buddy always does.

ABTelford

I couldn’t agree more that it’s refreshing to get a situation where Jake can’t just cheese the situation. Too many OP characters fall into the Superman trap - Superman when first created had nothing he couldn’t do and it got boring fast. So the author created Kryptonite and Luthor, and other villains strong and smart enough to thwart him.

SmokeJam

Well precisely block those 10. Don't give them a channel to communicate with the outside world and they will fall in line just because they would be scared the next visit will be an invasion force and not an envoy.

Fall’s Kiss🍂

I really like how the more Jake evolves the more real Villy becomes in his dealings with him. At first he was just a fun meddling god friend but now as Jake interacts more with the multiverse and his actions have longer reaching consequences his conversations with Jake have changed in quality. Villy had low-key told Jake what was about to happen when he told him how he would handle the situation. But Villy is a firm believer in you fuck around and find out teaching style for Jake. Now he is meddling in how the conquest of this minor world is I’ll go.

Chloe

Don't underestimate Plot Armor. 100% proof against any crit.

Tyftc

KyoDaDungeon!!

Coincidence the minor world popped up in Jake's yard Coincidence that the strongest being was a snake "Coincidence" I THINK NOT!!

Alex

He should go give snakedude a blessing.

Sushitrash

Hopefully this was a wakeup call for Jake, I really did find pretty stupid how he expected everyone to go along with his plan. Sure he had good intentions but do they care if he is so weak? Absolutely not

Gh0st-Hunt3r

he thinks hes gonna hold jake for one year ?? yeah jakes on his way out soon HAHAHAHAA
