The slumbering Dragonsbane within the True Dragon’s body was spread out and weak after the antidote, but much of it still remained. For now, Jake decided to keep it suppressed, though, at least until he could accumulate enough for it to have a proper effect. If he awakened it immediately, he was afraid she would crush it with sheer overwhelming energy, so better to wait a little.

Aisha clearly realized by now that her attempt to blind his senses hadn’t worked, and honestly, he thought she’d done research on him. If she had, she would have known such attacks were ineffective... then again, she likely didn’t know he got enough information purely from this Bloodline to not care.

One good thing about Willpower attacks was that they tended to just do their job as long as the person could be affected and the caster was powerful enough. Both of those criteria were fulfilled in this case, and She’d successfully sealed several of Jake’s senses, which would usually be utterly devastating for anyone, especially an archer. Unfortunately for her, he was just an outlier with a bullshit Bloodline, so even if she sealed every single sense of his, he would be fine relying solely on his sphere, intuition, and danger sense.

Switching up her attack pattern, Aisha spread out her wings as magical runes glowed on both of them, something Jake barely saw as his eyesight returned. The runes were complex, and he had no time to gain any insight before suddenly he experienced an extreme sense of vertigo.

Her wings looked like two giant eyes staring at him, disorienting him. He tried to dodge, but to his own surprise, his movements were impaired, and rather than dodge directly backward, he moved slightly to the side, resulting in a tail striking him in the stomach and sending him flying into a nearby mountain.

The environment's durability proved quite a detriment: the ground hurt a lot as the mountain barely took any damage, unable to absorb much of the impact. Gritting his teeth, Jake forced himself out of the shallow crater that had formed around him, just in time to dodge as a golden beam swept across where he’d just been, leaving a glowing scar across the mountainside.

In the distance, two massive glowing eyes that looked to be from an insect continued to fill the sky, forcing Jake to not look directly at the dragon as he started shooting arrows in retaliation. They were intercepted by magic as golden bolts and arrows clashed in the air, his arrows coming out on top as several continued toward the dragon, a few even making it through her defenses to strike her body.

His arrows penetrated her outer scales, with arrowheads sinking into flesh, allowing them to unleash their toxic payload of Dragonsbane into her body. Jake had closed his eyes at this point to avoid the odd soul attack that honestly reminded him a bit of looking at Oras, though to a far lesser degree.

Aisha unleashed plenty of magical attacks toward Jake, who used his original plan of utilizing the mountains to his advantage. While the durability of the stone sucked when getting smacked into a mountain, it was incredibly beneficial when using them to avoid attacks as Jake teleported around the mountain range while shooting arrows.

At first, Aisha didn’t give chase but simply continued attacking, seemingly fine with having a long-range battle, but it quickly became clear this wouldn’t be in her favor. The further they got away from one another, the more the difference in their abilities to dodge and the potency of their ranged attacks started to show. Jake’s arrows were far less affected by the environment, and rather than slow down while flying over greater distances, they actually tended to speed up.

Meanwhile, Aisha’s spells lost power the further they had to travel. What’s more, while both fired homing attacks, it was far harder for Aisha to land a hit. Jake’s ability to dodge was unmatched, and his small form and ability to use the environment for defense made him a borderline impossible target. Meanwhile, Aisha herself was a large dragon, and while she had shrunk her form down to only be around twenty meters in length -  counting the tail – she was still far larger than Jake in every aspect.

Ultimately, she was left with very few choices. She could stay where she was, which clearly didn’t favor her, try to retreat or force the battlefield elsewhere, something that would only make her an easy target for Jake to bombard, and retreating clearly wasn’t an option. In the end, she made the only real choice she had. Aisha stopped channeling the odd eyes and instead followed him into the mountain range, flying after him, likely to either force him into a melee battle or at least a ranged battle at closer proximity than before.

Jake continued trying to maintain distance while flying and teleporting through the vast mountain range, diving into valleys and up slopes to evade attacks while constantly shooting arrows. The entire terrain was filled with explosions and lights, as despite the durability of the stone, several mountains had pieces of them sent flying when particularly powerful spells missed or one of Jake’s arrows struck them.

Aisha also tried to use the mountains as cover, but the first time she did, she was blasted by an Arcane Powershot that pierced straight through a mountaintop. Between Penetrating Arrow and Unblemished Arrows, environmental mana and objects could do little to stop Jake’s attacks, only further hammering home how advantageous the environment was for him.

Soon, he felt that the accumulated Dragonsbane would be adequate to awaken it all at once. He just needed a few more arrows to land, and the fight would become even more advantageous than it already was. Sadly, Aisha clearly had enough, as after chasing him for a few minutes while failing to find any success, the dragon showed she had a fourth method to deal with this kind of situation.

He felt an utterly insane activation of mana as the True Dragon glowed with power while she spoke.

“Claws of Giants Flatten the Land.”

In a mind-boggling display of power, more than a thousand phantasmal golden dragon claws appeared throughout the entire mountain range, atop the mountains, and in concert, they all pressed down. The large mountains seemed to almost work with the claws as they deflated and were pressed into the ground, and in mere seconds, what had once been a vast mountain range had turned into flat land.

The claws faded away once their job was done, and Jake was left there floating in the air, all his cover gone. When he had planned to use the mountain range, he hadn’t imagined a world where Aisha would simply remove the entire mountain range from existence. While it was true that manipulating environmental mana took far less energy than regularly attacking, it still must have taken a lot out of her to do what she did.

Yet, despite Jake thinking this, Aisha immediately took advantage and charged towards him, magic circles filling the sky around her as beams of light and bolts of golden lightning were flung his way.

He used his wings to block the light beams while shooting a few arrows in retaliation, but she soon reached him, clearly using some kind of movement skill as she borderline teleported over.

She used her superior physique to attack. She swiped at him several times with her claws, and Jake dodged every time while switching to his katars in an attempt to land counterattacks, but right as he thought he saw an opening, her voice echoed.

“Claw That Swipes.”

From out of nowhere, the detached limb of a dragon appeared, a golden claw indeed swiping for his body. Jake reacted quickly, but the swipe was far faster than her usual attacks, forcing him to push himself further as he finally fully activated Pride of the Malefic Viper to try to deny her magic.

Their Willpower clashed, and to Jake’s - albeit expected - dismay, he found himself sorely on the losing end, but fortunately, he still managed to slow down the swipe just enough for him to turn and raise his katars to block.

Launching backward, Jake was about to take out his bow as words echoed again.

“Maw That Bites.”

Behind him, a gigantic head of a dragon appeared, more than a thousand meters in height, its mouth already wide open, with Jake already halfway into it before the entire golden projection had even fully manifested. He simply had no way of dodging as the dragon closed its maw around him.

Within the mouth, Jake felt an intense pressure upon him from all sides along with a stinging pain. It was as if more than a hundred teeth were trying to bite into his body at the same time, and despite fueling power into Pride, he saw his skin tear on his arms as if bitten into. Focusing on defense, he pushed Pride even further, finally fully denying the effect upon him. For a second or two, anyway.

The second Aisha realized her attack had stopped affecting him, she made the entire dragon head explode with Jake trapped within. The blast of golden energy washed over him, but the bigger problem was the massive teeth of the head that also flew towards him, all feeling fully corporeal to his sphere.

Narrowly dodging the teeth, Jake still had to endure the brunt of the golden explosion, stressing his scales and dealing some damage. What’s more, the explosion clearly wasn’t the main attack, but just a distraction as Aisha was charging quite a big spell.

With Pulse, Jake saw that far up in the sky, invisible to sight, Aisha had been conjuring a magic circle ever since right after she’d crushed the mountains. He couldn’t tell what it was meant to do, but he would soon get his answer.

Before the explosion had time to fully peter out, the magic circle in the sky had finished manifesting as what looked like a veil fell down upon the world. It draped over the entire area, making it look as if they were beneath an invisible table with a tablecloth going all the way to the ground on top of it.

Jake was unsure what the purpose of this was as Aisha released a beam of golden light towards him. Dodging it rather easily, he took out his bow to fight back as several more beams were shot his way in quick succession, alongside bolts of golden lightning and pure rays of energy.

All of them were easily evaded as Jake retaliated with arrows of his own, forcing Aisha to defend. The massive golden veil surrounding them still hadn’t made its purpose known, and since he didn’t feel it posed an immediate danger, he chose to temporarily ignore it and focus on doing damage.

It was only after a few blows were exchanged that he realized the purpose of the veil. All the missed attacks naturally struck the veil behind Jake, but rather than explode or damage it, they were fully absorbed like droplets hitting the calm surface of a lake.

Meanwhile, Jake’s arrows surprisingly flew straight through the veil, and even when he exploded one in the middle of it, nothing really seemed to happen besides the veil shuddering temporarily. Destroying it did seem possible, but would it be worth the effort? Only time would tell.

For now, their exchange of blows continued as Jake landed several more arrows while narrowly dodging the spells thrown his way. He did have to take a few minor hits here and there to avoid more dangerous attacks, but overall, this kind of situation favored him.

At this point, the Dragonsbane had accumulated enough toxins to be activated, yet Jake held back from doing so until a more opportune time. He wanted to fully awaken it right when Aisha was about to cast some large spell to instantly deal a significant amount of damage, something that did seem to be necessary.

Aisha and the Chosen of the Heartsoul Daolord had rather similar Paths. Both of them were magic-focused with Willpower as their highest stats, but in the physical department, there was simply no comparison.

The Chosen of the Heartsoul Daolord was extremely feeble and had little ability to resist Jake’s attacks as long as he pierced her magical defenses, while Aisha purposefully didn’t even bother to block some attacks but simply took them, as she knew he would barely be able to penetrate her scales. Even when he did, the damage dealt was negligible from her perspective.

Her other physical stats were also extremely high based on how fast she could fly and the power of her blows. In sheer physicality, without even using any magic, Aisha could match most top-tier geniuses of B-grade, showing just how powerful True Dragons inherently were.

She had a far more balanced Path than the Chosen of the Heartsoul Daolord, but that also meant that in the pure Words of Power and Willpower department, the Chosen had been stronger. He doubted Aisha had the ability to pull off those nasty combos, and she didn’t try to affect Jake directly with her Words of Power much either.

Overall, she was definitely a tougher opponent, but between Jake landing his opening arrow, leading to a large wound still festering in her chest, he was definitely confident as arrows and spells continued being flung back and forth while fighting under the golden veil she’d summoned. There were certain things he was looking out for; first and foremost being the most obvious one:

Dragon’s Breath.

Jake had no idea what the Dragon’s Breath of a golden dragon would look like, but he had a good feeling that no matter what, it wasn’t something he wanted to get hit by. She was obviously saving it, though, making him believe it wasn’t the kind of attack she could unleash easily, only giving further credence to the theory that it would be extremely powerful.

For now, she seemed to stick with more regular magic, though, as Aisha finally revealed the purpose of the golden veil. Flapping her wings, she unleashed a gust of cutting winds towards him, and right as Jake started to dodge, he felt the gathering of energy behind him. Vaguely visible on the golden veil was a mirrored version of Aisha that proceeded to cast a golden bolt of lightning that was timed too perfectly for him to fully dodge.

Making matters worse, Jake felt energy gather in several more places as a dozen mirrored versions of Aisha manifested within the veil and started casting spells towards him. Spells he suspected to be the same ones he’d dodged earlier that had been absorbed.

With so many spells coming towards him at the same time, alongside Aisha continually flapping her wings to trap him in a golden whirlwind, it was simply impossible to dodge everything... so he didn’t.

Pushing his newly upgraded Pride to its full potential, a small domain appeared around Jake where all the golden winds were nullified, and the several dozen beams and bolts of lightning that shot for him started rapidly dissolving into nothingness when they got near him, and whatever remnant energies remained were easily handled by his scales.

Jake felt the mental toll and his energy drain from denying the existence of so much magic at once. Aisha was clearly surprised at seeing him completely nullify her magic and decided to go for another big attack.

The veil surrounding them shivered and slowly started to close in as if wrapping around the battlefield like a piece of cloth being wrung. The True Dragon manifested several dozen spells, and beneath them, a magic circle appeared, but just before she could unleash any of it, Jake raised his hand as it started glowing dark green.

Touch of the Malefic Viper activated, and as it did, the Dragonsbane was awakened and came on with full force immediately. He saw the dragon’s eyes open wide in pain, and the magic circle below them dissolved away instantly as dark green veins spread across her body, ravaging her from within.

Smiling, Jake felt that the battle was about to turn massively in his favor... at least he did so for about zero-point-seven seconds until he was reminded that, well, one should really never underestimate True Dragons, especially not the golden kind.

Thanks for the chapter!

Laurent Jerry

He better not lose, am disapointed in him agreing to the bet

Wholesome_Patreon

A new chapter and my Sylphie plush just arrived. i'm spoiled today

Catrina

My sylphie plushie arrived.!!yay!!

Namorat

I feel he will lose for narrative reasons and the baby conflict

Mitha

An unexpected advantage of this simulated world is that really losing is back on the menu for Jake. In the "real world" we know there will always be some escape or deus ex machina, but here? Anything can happen and the cost may be high, but managable.

Staudi

Tyftc!

Fdrugc

Tftc shouldn't he have used dragonsbane when she was flattening the mountain?

BumAssBumAss

Aisha has revealed so many skills, while Jake only revealed pride of the malefic viper venting her willpower and more dragon bane which he already revealed. This is still heavily in Jake's favor.

Laurent Jerry

Yeah but its more the bad vibe behind the deal ? First its an imbalanced bet in her favor, second betting while counting on your backing to deny it is in bad faith, third being self proclaimed monogamous and still betting is distasteful I had a higher opinion of him, even if he wins am still holding that against him

Xerecs

The last thing we need is baby dragon drama and the occasional whining of the regal flight about how Jake hasn't impregnated Aisha yet.

Loststar7

Thanks for the chapter. It’s been an enjoyable fight so far. Minor edit suggestions: two massive glowing eyes that looked to be from an insight (insect?) his arrows coming (out) on top as several continued toward the dragon While the durability of the stone sucked when (you)smacked into a mountain, it was incredibly beneficial Before the explosion had time to fully peter out, the magic circle in the sky fully manifested (could probably drop one of the fullys) Touch of the Malefic Viper activated, and as it did, the Dragonsbane was awakening (awakened) and came on with full force immediately. Also might be able to swap out about a dozen Jake’s for just he or him there’s several spots toward the first third of the chapter where his name is almost back to back.

djthomp

Aisha and the Heartsoul Chosen straight up being friends is something I hope we learn more about later. I see a lot of predictions that Jake might lose because of the baby contract, I think he'll win because of it because the real purpose is Aisha sneakily providing one of her own eggs for one of Jake's fancy rituals.

Den

But then he could sing the opening of Kickapoo "t'was I who fucked the dragon, fuckalizing fuckaloo" and enter the real leaderboard, alongside the likes of Donkey and Vince Campbell.

SPARE

Zogarth I'm not sure if you read the comments, but its been FOREVER since we had some Villy scenes...the current plot is probably a whole book worth and seems to be going forever...I really hope we can squeeze in some Villy SOON!

Manpolar

Brilliant reference

Rewdan

Thanks Zogarth I’m looking forward to seeing how Jake escapes her dragon breath

Noah Mclelland

The dragon proposed the bet knowing she won out regardless of the result, and even though she knew jake was in a relationship she still offered the bet anyway. But your other comment about relying on the viper refusing on his behalf, jake never relied on that when deciding as he fully believes himself unbeatable against her. Also its very plausible knowing jake that he'd accept it, since again he's bloodline infused arrogance/pride normally wouldnt even consider losing.

The First Sage

ahh yes, the golden dragon specialty, she pulls out her wallet and slap him with money

Raymond Whitehead

She didnt know jake was in a relationship she also doesnt know who it is. Aisha was suprised when jake mentioned it and didnt bother asking who since she said jake would have said who it was if he was willing to let her know

Dan

Not gonna lie, kinda hoping he loses purely because I wanna see that conversation between him and Artemis.

Corvid

See, that's where Smaug went wrong. He shouldn't have tried to just burn everyone. If he'd taken that horde and invested it wisely, he too could have killed with the power of fiscal superiority

ABTelford

Yes I’m sure she’ll let you play with her next time.

JPD3

I think I’ve grown tired of every fight being chapters on chapters long. I like the story and progression as well as character interactions but I think I’m going to have to at best skim fights going forward

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

Nathaniel France

Sure, but not this fight, because it would completely disengage us from this “part” of the event if he was knocked out right away, not when we’ve got Sword Saint and Eastbound still to face. It’s important to remember that Jake has barely dipped into his bag in this fight, he’s basically just used Dragonsbane and Pride

definitelynotbrjenness

Aisha comes storming into the order .. to be met by Artemis. I know, I know nobody would storm into the order, but I got caught up in the baby mama drama stereotype.

definitelynotbrjenness

meh, Vinny is ok, but Marisa Tomei was the real star of that movie. positraction and all that.

Aisha veil seemed to absorb either spells or mana, could that be a counter to jake's bane during a rematch. Prep it beforehand so she doesn't use mana as much while her body deals with the bane. hmmm... spell / mana battery

Nikola Tobias Hunter

Jake needs a theme song for when he pulls some ultra instinct crap.

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Price in academy credits dependant on services rendered

Shandlar

Yeah, its weird that even in PH, a relatively unique setting where Earth is strong vs the rest of the multiverse integration, somehow still has the trope of its culture being subverted. Why the fuck wouldnt Jake just say "hey sorry, I'm monogamous, that isnt something I can bet with". Its a really forced way to add stakes that took all the wind out of this fights hype.

MindHopper

I agree, I skipped the heartsoul girl fight and I don't feel like I missed anything. The main problem for me is that the fights have basically no stakes because I can't convince myself that Jake can lose, and when he almost does he pulls out some bullshit from his bloodline

Gracie

tftc! 🏹🐉⛰️

Mothgor

I think in a fight like this though it's always apparent that other fighters have lots of abilities and Jake has very few.... He spends the whole time weathering it and then pulls out his top abilities and it's over. His kit seems lacking lately with these fights showing the other geniuses having quite the myriad abilities.

zran

Indeed, likely her next attack will use her hoard of credits to power the attack she gonna do, teaching jake a lesson, do not understimate a rich dragon

Elena

I wait it out until the tittle makes it clear the battle is over. I only start reading the battle then

JPD3

Yeah I might do the same, usually I’ll skim until I see a keyword pop out that grabs my attention and read that, then do it again, but even that much is becoming annoying

beeve

I always skim fights.. some people love them tho

beeve

Does Jake still have that staff for power up?

MindHopper

I think PH has some of the best fights, it's just Jake's specifically that have gotten repetitive

Gh0st-Hunt3r

You don't wanna do that you might miss important plot points, conversations, upgrades and the process by which it got upgraded

Gh0st-Hunt3r

No I'm pretty sure all items Including what he had in his inventory was converted to prima credits but that would be sick if he still had it holy s*** he would dominate her pretty quickly with that

Gh0st-Hunt3r

🤣 yeah I don't think there is a Vinny in this story, Unless.........HAVE I BEEN COMMENTING ON THE WRONG STORY THIS WHOLE TIME..... !!!???🫢😲😱😫

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Yeah but if that was the case then I'm pretty sure they would be a Karmic connection between the egg and Aisha, a pretty substantial one, that he'd probably be able to figure out, or at least have William check for him

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Whelp Dragonmama Drama* 🤣

SPARE

Changed it to Villy. I had just woke up and probably should have had my coffee before posting. I was just thinking it has been a while since we saw Jake with the Viper and those scenes are always great.

SmokeJam

I do hope she either gets interesting or he simply ends her next chapter. Until now she hasn't shown more than the mediocre middle besides a higher energy expenditure than most can deal with. While this is basically the only story where I always enjoyed the fights, there have been quite a lot now, compressed and in multiple chapter formats and we still don't have a clue what they are really for. Would be nice to get past this very long opening arc of the prima world now. I know it was already phase 2, but it didn't give more substantial goals than phase 1 did, namely collecting points, that's why it still feels like an opening to the real progression. Also maybe Jasper retrospective pov pretty please? The guy must've had so much fun!

Gh0st-Hunt3r

No Sylphie .....I'm sure if jake tried to bonk Aisha on the head with big smelly cauldron she would just dodge it !

Booz Dowg

I agree and don't think it is in his character to make a bet like that. It's a way to get a good dragon egg into his hands though to carry that story line forward and the confidence/arrogance that it's an unloseable bet is within character. I'd prefer he got the egg a different way but oh well

JPD3

This is the problem for me too, from very early on his bloodline is basically described as plot armour, which isn’t an issue when the story is a power fantasy, but also there’s no need to draw our fights for a dozen chapters in a power fantasy

Biggy smalls

Yeah. I think the problem is we just had an 8 chapter fight. Now I think this one will go 7 chapters. Then we might have 2 more fights right after this one that could easily both go 8 chapters a piece. Thats 30ish chapters of almost pure combat... id love it if jake could majorly shrink these fights by just going ham. My favorite fight of the series was the villy versus valdemar fight which spanned just 1 chapter. It can be done.

catacendre

That's exactly why him losing here would be good. Would help his character progression by showing him again he's not invincible while having real consequences for losing. That doesn't mean I think it'll actually happen though.

AWKW1ZARD

Jake's fights are great. If anticipation of what comes next is ruining the actual story for you, it sounds like you guys might be better off waiting for the book releases. Scheduled chappy releases tend to change your perception of the story. They make you more hungry for the progression than the actual content.

Rob Lyon

@B D I think if he loses in this event it will be to either the sword Saint or the eastbound Monk. And honestly as much as Zog has been hyping up the Monk I think that would be the best loss for him here

definitelynotbrjenness

yeah, that's why i wouldn't oppose a set back and a comeback after some time spent focusing on integrating concepts into his foundation.

Rob Lyon

I see a lot of people thinking that as well she figures either way she wins if she beats Jake she gets a baby if Jake wins she gives him an egg he does some origin energy stuff and eventually the dragon flights get a strong new variant. Except there's one really big primordial wrench that I can see getting thrown into the works. First I don't see him losing here I know a lot of people are upset about the bet and they think it's out of character for Jake which it really isn't . I definitely also think that as much as Aisah would want a kid from him I don't think she's truly expecting one I think the bet is to try to get a dragon that comes from his harbinger of primeval origins I think her and her father are arrogant enough to assume any dragon born from that would eventually end up with them in the dragonflights. But I don't think so I think Villy would but the wyrm God know as soon as Jake started ritual and I think the wyrd God would bless it and it would become his next chosen totally cutting off the dragon flights. I can see the Viper doing that just as a way to fuck with them for messing with Jake.

definitelynotbrjenness

I've been trying to decide how to express my wish for this arc to have been expanded ro include the adventures of the side characters more prominently. "filler" fellers would hate it, but that's a plus in my book.

Rob Lyon

I think he will lose I don't think he'll lose to her this whole abundant emperor arc has been pointing to the initial conflict between him and the eastbound Monk so that's who I see him losing to now I can see the dog using this fight and a fight against either the sword saint or the golden King as the way to make sure Jake's not in optimal condition when he runs into the monk

definitelynotbrjenness

keep that jaberwocky nonsense away. there might be children in here.

The Art of Pedantry

I think one of the major benefits of Jake's fights taking a while is that Jake actively grows in the middle of most of the biggest fights. Zogarth also uses them and some of the smaller fights as Co tinued world building. Like this battle against Aisha, for example, serves to give us a much better understanding of what True Dragons are capable of compared to the weak True Dragon he killed earlier. When Zogarth uses small fights for this purpose, it becomes clear too when, like in the poisonous world, Zogarth shows the first fight to introduce the undead spider guys, and then used another sight to demonstrate the frog prince's capabilities more, but all the rest of the hundred plus battles in that string Zogarth breezed past almost completely. Of course, I think another reason Zogarth does these long fights on occasion is because it's kind of a slice of life story not just a power fantasy. We're along for the journey and fighting is a huge part of who Jake is. Skipping most fights and shrinking the bigger fights I think would serve to negatively impact Jake as a character because of that. While it's not as conducive to the power fantasy side, it enables the slice of life side of the story to exist simultaneously. As a result, it's not the stakes in each major fight that is necessarily whats interesting, rather it's how Jake navigates each fight, what he learns, how he grows, and how his own battle style shifts and adapts each time. It's also the new characters he meets that impact his journey or what he learns or give him new goals that advance the plot (like his fight against big bird guy on the life planet). Jake's fights are still quite dynamic when you see them as continued character growth rather than just a power fantasy fight. The point isn't the victory, it's the journey. It's the same with his alchemy. Zogarth doesn't bother to describe each and every batch, and only dives into detail for new stuff Jake does or moments where he's actively learning and growing. We maintain a window into Jake's growth as it's speed ebbs and flows.

The Art of Pedantry

I honestly wouldn't be surprised by Jake losing here either. I kind of expect a massive fight between Eastbound Monk and Sword Saint and I can see Sword Saint winning this tourney, perhaps in a final clash with Eastbound Monk if Jake falls earlier. Also, Jake needing to navigate the fallout of losing to Aisha would amuse Villy to no end and I could definitely see Zogarth doing that for laughs and to continue Jake's growth on the path to godhood as he is forced to learn more about the interdeity relationships and how they operate and how to navigate them. And of course all the drama that will ensue along the way, inevitably.

The Art of Pedantry

I think he didn't because A. He wasn't expecting such an action, and B. As mentioned he knows magic to affect the environment takes a lot less effort than to launch an attack at him.

The Art of Pedantry

Ooh, that could be interesting. Especially if he manages to duplicate the shadow so he has one of each with stable shadow being more defensive typically and destructive shadow being more aggressive with plenty of crossover when the situation warrants it. I could see him leaning into manifesting many clones via shadow at the cost of an utterly massive draw on eternal hunger's reserves. Even with as big of a reserve as it's got, I could see using eternal shadow like that being a noticeable draw which would also keep it from becoming overpowered too quickly.

Biggy smalls

Problem is it makes no narrative sense for Jake to lose a 1v1 against any of these guys if he’s at full health. He's out achieved them in every system event and his path has been greater and more fruitful than all of there’s. So unless they gang up on him or one of them is waiting for him to win a fight and then they pounce on him before he has a chance to heal up It doesn’t make sense for him to lose. Then there’s always the super bloodline fighting mode he used against Valdemar waiting in the wings even if they ganged up on him or pounced on him after a fight. He should be competing in system events against mid tier B grades. Him losing in an event against opponents like that makes sense.

Agreed sorry for picking on ya my dude 😁

Gh0st-Hunt3r

In an earlier comment somewhere lol i wrote that all Jake's creations are unfailingly Loyal to jake weather or not they chose to join another faction and thus far Sandy, Jasper, and Sylphie have all become Chosen 😉 anyways there's no guarantee a dragon will "Join" a dragon flight but I can see them going and spending time with them because who better to learn from? Except maybe the viper since he is a dragon too and a primordial

Gh0st-Hunt3r

I was saying the same exact s*** for a golden dragon top of the Nevermore leaderboard powerful true Dragon she really hasn't done anything to make me feel Shock And Awe

Clint

Would be fun to get a Villy chapter, where he’s strung out and dealing with the Jake withdrawal. Perhaps jumping on every rumor from “killed” powerhouses kicked from the simulation. Perhaps getting into trouble in the multiverse because he’s bored without his favorite reality tv.

Jake practiced against green wind, what chance does some gold breeze have

Josh Waldrip

Anyone else foresee a three way fight between Sword Saint, EBM, and Jake?

definitelynotbrjenness

When will the power of Jake's bow become a factor? Maybe in S grade and it eliminates charging time for a certain number of arcane power shots of the primal hunter? Aren't there situations where soulflame attack might be better than explosive arcane? a more controlled destruction. I'm still waiting for jake to spit the desolation core at someone. Odds that arnold has been fighting some earth targetting invasion force and is approaching mid B grade in his class? If not, I assume Miranda will convince him to come tinker with the ships and quickly realize she needs to put him on a budget. I need to know who is Jasper's chief admin or running his territory for him. Draskil? Vespy? Meira? Scarlet? Order forces? Elf Dryad couple? Jake's parents started levelling, went to nevermore, and will join jake in the outer realm battles referring to it as "family game night". whatever happened to the fan boy and beast kin girl from jake's lecture? I'm surprised beasts aren't a bigger part of the milky way faction. Disclaimer: prima guardians might not be dead yet on their planets. was it 50 years? However, Slothy is here. Have we seen Wolfie.and lucenty stag? We saw scared sneaky cat. Maybe they came as assistant admins for enlightened world leaders. Done pooping. Go read someone else's gibberish now.

So I disagree because I think some of the best fights I have ever read have been in this series, but I will say I agree that recently every single fight is he shoots arrows, dodges, the power shots then poisons, but that’s it, we have people reversing time, laying out enveloping formations, transporting you to their own worlds, setting up flame pillar labarynths, and his response to all is the same as right now it feels like his tools are limited, like I tele with my steps, and I dodge, and I trick you with shadow and it’s all, it’s not creative at the moment and then you’re right it’s still long, this feels almost identical to the other dragon fight so far, now she rejuvenates because gold is incorruptible or something, then he shoots her again and overwhelms it, dragon breath gets used on his shadow, he uses a new move on her wound to blow her up, I can see it all. But I still love the epic fights. El hakarn was amazing, manage, sword saint, even the altar golem all brilliant

Villy has been keeping himself occupied organizing training of an early b grade Chosen's Cohort ready for rapid deployment to the milky way if needed. Oddly, mostly women and snakes volunteered.

I keep thinking that it will be a baby and jake will make sure it is cared for until it is mature enough to decide for itself. Then if it wants, it can join a dragonflights or just go for a visit to get a bunch of free stuff.

I don't mind the fights being 2-4 chapters long when they are good fights. But I feel like when he faced 2 chosen at the same time was a quicker battle then this one is making out to be. I would rather Zogarth to speed alot of these fights up to match the pace he had at the beginning of the system event. I expect a skill upgrade of some kind and a epic ending with "Event Horizon" skill. The bet.... imo... She is a entitled and she is a True Dragon. She has been taught and coached on making this wager. Of course it is heavy in her favor.... But I think him winning and later creating a new variant of dragon that doesn't join any of the dragonflights. I expect the new dragon to be more of a independent dragon that is leans towards Villy or the Wyrmgod. I don't want to see this new dragon join the dragonflights cause Jake's creations tend to be more independent individuals. I want this new dragon to tell the dragonflights to Fuck Off.... LoL

TFTC :) I mean, its a cool visual but...doesnt it seem a little convenient that she has a phantasmal dragon claw attack that evaporates indestructible mountain ranges?!?!? When the fuck else would you need to do that? How would she have ever developed that skill? Suggested edits: Someone else pointed out that you use "Jake" quite a few times in this chapter when you should use "he" or "him" but pointing them out would take forever since the word "Jake" appears 60x . " he got enough *senses* purely from this Bloodline" think this should be "information" "as the mountain barely broke apart, unable to absorb much of the impact. " the phrasing here is off. Perhaps "as the mountain stood firm, leaving Jakes body to absorb much of the impact" given that the meaning is the rock is solid and thus the damage happened to Jake. "out of the *smaller* crater that" smaller than what? Think this should be "shallow" "two massive glowing eyes that looked to be from an *insight* continued" ?? Maybe "insect"? not sure what you mean here. "as golden bolts*,* and arrows clashed" remove the comma since this is all one statement. "his arrows coming ** on top as" missing word "out" "when ** smacked into a mountain," missing words "one was" also probably should be "mountainside" here "but simply continued attacking *herself*, " ditch this otherwise it sounds like Aisha is attacking herself rather than Jake :D "to use the *mountain range*, " repetitive with the next segment. Change this to "natural cover" " over a hundred teeth " off phrasing again. maybe "as if hundreds of teeth" rather than trying to be more specific. " into Pride, *saw his skin tear* on his arms* as" you dont use Jakes name close enough to this to use this phrasing. Should be "the skin tore" from context. " had time to *fully peter out*, the magic circle in the sky *fully* manifested" repetitive. maybe recede or abate for the first instead? "unleashed a *whirlwind* of cutting winds" maybe "tornado" or "maelstrom" just to keep from using "wind" twice here. Sylphie unleashed a "whirlwind of wind" many chapters ago and it bothered me then too :D "*Vague* visible on the" should be "vaguely" "was *too perfectly timed* for" should be "timed too perfectly" "the Dragonsbane was *awakening* and came on" shouldnt this be "awakened"?

Next skill upgrade?

I'm waiting to see what Jake does with the Yip of Yore McNugget. Now thats gonna be a real Happy Meal.

Zogarth

Edited Lots of stuff today, zzz. Also removed a bunch of Jakes.

Tftc from this(his) Bloodline to not care the smaller(small) crater that from an insight(¿insect?) continued to fill the sky

genkism

I'm not a fan either but a lot of people love it and it's probably a lot of fun to write so meh. I remember seeing complaints about the crafting challenge in Neverwinter which was one of my favorite parts of Neverwinter. Can't satisfying everyone all the time and all that.

Hades.Tempest

I'm confused why people seem disappointed in him accepting Aisha's deal. Jake is absolutely confident he will win the fight, furthermore, he know if in the extreme unlikelihood he loses Villy or Artemis will outright reject her bet. Genuinely it was a no lose situation for Jake as he knew he will win and then easily gets a (more than likely) pinnacle tier dragon egg to use origin energy on🤷

Parker Bond

If this were a harem novel him losing would be how he gets his 2nd love interest. Since it's not he better not lose

Parker Bond

Yeah 3 chapters for a big fight is okay but more than that is too much

Parker Bond

Yeah it could be cool if they were fights with 2 other people and we got to see new abilities on both sides, but Jake's fights aren't fun for 10 chapters

Parker Bond

If the Sword Saint doesn't handily beat at least 1-2 other opponents I'm rioting

Parker Bond

If Jake dies in the melee against the monk or Sword Saint I could see him exiting for a chat

Parker Bond

This part would be so much better if it was 20% Jake and 80% everyone else.
