The Sword Saint quickly flew towards his target in the distance, finding himself a little surprised that only three Administrators remained. Evidently, two had taken each other out, meaning the matchup here at the end would be a little awkward.

Would they take turns? No, that would effectively just hand the win to whoever would sit out the first duel, assuming they were all roughly equally matched. In the scenario where one party had a massive advantage, the Sword Saint was not beyond teaming up with someone else, and he had a good idea who his target would end up being.

According to the Sword Saint’s evaluation, he already assumed the two other Administrators to be Jake and the Eastbound Monk. It was possible that the two of them had already met, but Miyamoto doubted it.

Jake surviving was only to be expected, seeing as many rated him the top figure of this generation, and the Sword Saint knew just how hard he was to get rid of. He would definitely have a difficult time against some opponents, but in the end, Miyamoto could only imagine a world where the hunter came out on top.

As for the Eastbound Monk, the Sword Saint was even more sure about him. There was something odd about the monk, and despite how much Miyamoto tried to evaluate and read him, he didn’t find a single sign of weakness. The monk was full of openings and didn’t give off the aura of someone powerful, but that was only more eerie knowing what he’d accomplished.

Killing all the Prima Guardians in his galaxy was already an impressive feat, but not that impressive. The Sword Saint and Jake could both have done the same given enough time, and the monk did have a smaller galaxy than the Milky Way. No, what was more impressive was his Nevermore performance.

The Eastbound Monk had gone a bit under the radar there. His performance had been good, getting top seven, but compared to Aishalstromoz, the Demon Prince, Jake, Ell’Hakan, and Wintermaul, it wasn’t that impressive. Not on the surface, anyway, but the Sword Saint had learned something that had entirely changed his perception.

One question many had, the Sword Saint included, was: what party members did the Eastbound Monk have in Nevermore? However, no matter how much research was done, and how much the Court of Shadows looked into it, they couldn’t find out. All the other notable figures had ended up with Eron, the Chosen of the Heartsoul Daolord, or other rather influential figures of the Dao Sect.

It did make matters a bit more difficult that the Dao Sect didn’t have that big of a presence in Nevermore. Many of their top geniuses simply never went, but stayed in their sect. All the Court of Shadows could do was confirm that pretty much all the known figures of the Dao Sect one would expect to do well in Nevermore were accounted for, and none of them had been in a party with the Eastbound Monk.

This led to a conclusion that was rather absurd, but one the Sword Saint had started to believe was the truth. The reason no one could figure out who the Eastbound Monk’s party members were... was because he didn’t have any. Or if he did, they were nobodies.

In other words, he’d managed to reach his position alone. He’d defeated foes that a party with three of the eight Administrators who’d made it to this stage struggled with when working together. Assuming it was the truth, that is.

Many found this conclusion preposterous and refused to subscribe to it. Granted, it was also entirely possible the Dao Sect had some hidden talents that stepped up and helped him, but no one knew who they were. Either way, even if it couldn’t be confirmed whether he’d worked alone, the Sword Saint had chosen to believe he had after hearing from William how the monk had dominated his own antechamber, which had definitely been the hardest of them all. At least the Sword Saint would have had no confidence facing so many other top geniuses... not as his current self, anyway.

Soon, as the Sword Saint was rapidly approaching where he’d seen the flare marking the location of another Administrator, Miyamoto wondered whether he’d somehow missed this other person, or if he’d chosen to hide instead of fight. If he was hiding, chances were the Sword Saint had approached Jake, and he immediately sharpened his senses, not wanting to embarrass himself by instantly dying to an arrow shot from stealth.

However, his caution proved unnecessary, as soon after, he spotted something. Down below, in the middle of the grassy plains, stood a single figure the Sword Saint instantly recognized as the Eastbound Monk.

He was simply standing there, gazing out into the distance, as if admiring the rather hastily constructed world created by the Abundant Emperor. Even as the Sword Saint approached, the monk didn’t react but kept looking elsewhere with a gaze of admiration.

Landing on the ground, the Sword Saint slowly walked closer before eventually standing beside the monk, who finally spoke.

“In times like these, it’s difficult to remember it’s all merely a simulation,” he said in a calm voice. “However, the memory of its creation and the reshaping that happened just now makes it equally difficult to forget its false nature.”

“The line between the real and the virtual can truly be thin at times,” the Sword Saint agreed. “It’s a nearly perfect replica, but as you no doubt noticed, there are flaws, and the laws governing the multiverse’s existence are more malleable here. But I wouldn’t say seeing the world changed so easily qualifies as something that brings one out of the simulation.”

“Because the truly powerful, such as gods, can already do that in the true multiverse?” the Eastbound Monk asked, instantly understanding what Miyamoto was getting at. “You are right. Those two feats appear identical on the surface, but they are not. Here, the creation of the new is as real as everything else, while in the outside world, the created lacks substance.”

The Sword Saint threw the monk a look, asking for elaboration, making the other man continue.

“This entire world is lacking, as you said. But do you know what it lacks most?”

“If I had to answer, I would say history,” the Sword Saint responded. “Everything here is always new. As if created mere moments before.”

Nodding, the Eastbound Monk smiled and turned to Miyamoto. “History is an excellent answer. To me, it lacks spirit. Meaning. Everything in the multiverse has its purpose, its Path, but here, only we Administrators truly matter. As you said, there is no history either, but why would the world have history when it has no permanence either? Its only Path, if one can even call it that, is to cease to exist once someone decides it should.”

“Is anything truly permanent? As the Chosen of the Primordial of Time, I can tell you that none, not even my Patron, knows what the future brings. The multiverse could end tomorrow for all we know, but does that mean its existence wouldn’t have had any purpose?” the Sword Saint countered, knowing he was playing devil’s advocate a little.

“Perhaps not, but at least there, the system exists, and even if the multiverse ceases, the system shall remain. Here, in this world, the system had given authority away. Like a playpen where a child is allowed to dictate everything. It may still be within the parent’s house, but the child can end the game at any point.”

“Yet you are here,” the Sword Saint pointed out. “Why come to this world?”

“Now that is the best question,” the Eastbound Monk sighed. “I could tell you it’s because we Administrators still have a purpose in this world. That the competition has meaning. That I hope to achieve something of significance. Perhaps there’s even a little pride in there. These claims might all hold some kernel of authenticity, but in truth, I’m here because I was asked to be.”

“By your Patron?” the Sword Saint asked, joining the monk in staring into the landscape once more.

“By my teacher,” the Eastbound Monk answered.

“I would guess those two are one and the same,” Miyamoto chuckled.

“Not truly,” the monk sighed before taking a deep breath as he smiled. “You feel it too, don’t you?”

“What?” the Sword Saint asked, confused.

The monk turned his head and looked behind them. “The lingering sense of danger. The eyes of a hunter observing his prey. Perhaps observing the situation, wondering whether he should seek to strike one of us down or approach us.”

A bit shocked, the Sword Saint frowned. Not because he hadn’t sensed Jake’s arrival, but because the monk had. Jake’s stealth skills were pretty damn good, and few could see through them, especially not if their Paths didn’t focus on Perception. While the Sword Saint had no idea what stats were the monk’s highest, he seriously doubted it was Perception.

Seconds passed as the monk chuckled and shook his head. “I understand. It would be foolish for a predator to reveal itself to would-be prey.”

“I think referring to yourself as prey is pretty damn fallacious,” a third voice suddenly said as Jake actually appeared, seemingly fading into existence, floating a few dozen meters away, appearing even more confused than Miyamoto was about how he’d gotten detected.

--

Jake had arrived before the Sword Saint and had been watching as the monk just stood there. He’d only been observing for half a minute when the Sword Saint arrived, the old man landing as the two talked for a little while, Jake just eavesdropping on them like a totally not creepy stalker.

He found the attitude and words of the monk incredibly confusing, and even now, he didn’t feel a hint of hostility from him. Jake could feel that both the Monk and the Sword Saint weren’t in top form, though. While they were concealing it well, Jake could tell they had both gone through rather tough fights. Even now, a cold energy lingered on the Eastbound Monk, no doubt a present from Wintermaul, while the Sword Saint still had small scars left by a blade, making Jake guess he’d faced Warlord Davion.

Not that Jake was in peak condition either. Seeing that even the monk hadn’t had it too easy made him relax a little, though. Based on all the rumors, the Eastbound Monk had this air of invincibility around him, but evidently, even he would struggle against a peak genius of his generation.

Jake was rather ruthlessly thrown out of his thoughts when suddenly the monk turned and looked in the hunter’s general direction as he spoke. He spoke some rather mysterious words at first by asking the old man if he felt anything, but his next words confirmed that he knew Jake was there... which made no sense at all.

He couldn’t feel anyone observing him besides what he assumed to be the Abundant Emperor, so unless the godlike cyclops had decided to help the monk for some odd reason, Jake should still be hidden.

Yet the monk’s next words seemed to only further confirm he knew Jake was there, and at that point, between feeling a little taunted and just too damn curious how the hell the monk had seen through him, Jake deactivated his stealth still and spoke.

“I think referring to yourself as prey is pretty damn fallacious.”

While Jake would certainly be fine referring to the monk as such, there was no way someone like the Eastbound Monk actually thought of himself as anything even close to prey.

“In nature, predators are those who hunt and kill, while prey often refers to the herbivores that only ever fight and kill in defense or when they have no other choice,” the Eastbound Monk answered with a smile. “In that sense, I would refer to myself as prey.”

“It’s also common for herbivores to fight for mating rights, dominance over their kin, or simply for territory,” the Sword Saint pointed out.

“All of which I classify as having no other choice,” the Eastbound Monk said. “Not that those things are that true anymore. Now, I believe most refer to prey as those too weak to be predators, as it’s extraordinarily rare to find those with Paths that outright shy away from killing or avoid it whenever they can.”

Jake slowly nodded, only really knowing of Jasper, Sandy, and Jacob who had Paths where they either had to outright avoid fighting or killing, or where it just didn’t make much sense. Sandy and Jasper would rather just steal whatever they came for and then quickly leave while avoiding combat.

“Speaking of things that are extraordinarily rare,” Jake said, closely observing the monk. “How did you detect me?”

“Ah, that,” the Eastbound Monk said with a light smile. “I didn’t.”

Both the Sword Saint and Jake stared, confused, at the man who had just shrugged.

“We were roughly equally far apart after the Abundant Emperor brought us closer together, and your speed should surpass that of the swordsman. I even played it a little safe by waiting before gambling that you had arrived and were observing us from stealth,” the monk casually explained, nearly making Jake’s mouth gape open as the Sword Saint muttered.

“Not very monk-like to use deception like that.”

“What even is a monk?” the man chuckled before turning serious again while looking at Jake. “Though I should apologize, it was a little underhanded. However, I believe it was the only way to make you appear and give us all a chance to talk.”

Jake continued to stare at the monk before he had to stop himself from letting out a laugh. As much as it hurt to admit, yeah, the guy had really gotten Jake with that one. He’d totally believed that the Eastbound Monk had some mysterious technique to detect him, and he hadn’t even considered that the guy could be bluffing, because who the hell would think that a bald guy looking like the most stereotypical young monk ever would be that good at bullshitting others?

After calming down a little, Jake let out a sigh.

“Fine, what do you want to talk about?”

He was still curious about the monk, and this was a good opportunity to learn more about him. Even Caleb, with the Court of Shadows behind him, had little to no information on the guy, and he was sure that Miranda would appreciate any intelligence he could gather.

“What is to come,” the monk answered. “Not just in this event, but in the multiverse outside. There are few situations where one gets the opportunity to speak free from the gaze of the gods. This is one such moment, so I aim to take advantage.”

There was a shift in the atmosphere as Jake and the Sword Saint both felt the seriousness in the monk’s voice, neither of them interrupting.

“The multiverse is vast, and even after so many eras, the majority of it remains unexplored. There are things hidden in the dark, forces that have accumulated power for a long time, who are now rearing their heads with more boldness than ever,” the Eastbound Monk said before letting out a sigh. “Bold enough to dare ambush the Chosen of the Malefic Viper in the void.”

Tftc. I Think it’s supposed to be ‘his’ in «Sword Saint had learned something that had entirely changed her perception»

Kristjan Vool

V exciting to find out more about the ambush

Andyr98

How does he know

17^3

Eastbound Monk's teacher is the First Sage??

Jacob Brady

Oh shi..... Lowkey hope this monk becomes more regular.

TyranT-Rex

This is getting good!

Daniel

Oh, dang - that’s a fun plot thickener!

UNKNOWN

Next time Jake sneaks up on a peak genius, and they pull that move. He should appear from stealth behind them and pull the age old gag of, "who we looking for?" I mean full on Pennywise in the locker scene.

Dave

Interesting, what a web that is being spun.

Jul Silver

So how many think the Eastbound Monk's teacher is the First Sage?

definitelynotbrjenness

Ahhh... the creators of the mysterious faction in the dark offering information. Or a split between the daolords? Or eastbound is actually eron and has been absorbing and storing damage since integration and releases in on others when needed. OK that one doesn't work. But my spider senses are tingling. Of the 93 sages, some went insane and tried creating puppets to guide the denizens of the system instead of assisting a rise to primordial. The sages mortal enemy? Users of the dark side of the system? Creators of mind controlling mushrooms?

catacendre

Who knew the Eastbound Monk would come out not with fists, but bombshells.

Daofather

Josie

excellent curve ball

GeneralVarkus

Why is the eastbound monk such a chill dude, I was ready for another version of the orange fuck for Jake to hate. Instead we get another sword saint: an annoyingly nice guy that Jake competes with amicably. Tyftc!!!

Korie Goodale

I am glad this was not a cliffhanger on a Friday or right before a long break

Fyrtue

I don't think anybody called the monk making some exposition about the void ambush, but I like this twist and hope it pans out more. We need another concrete looming villain/threat in the story.

CallHimDan

Finally! Getting back to the crust.

Xander

TFTC :) 8 Suggested edits: "entirely changed *her* perception." should be "his" unless SS took some severe damage from Davion. " it’s difficult to *forget* it’s all merely a simulation" from context this should be "remember" "it lacks most of *anything*?" Should be "all" or "everything" though if you go for the latter it should be "but do you know, of everything, what it lacks most?" Also you shouldnt start a new sentence with "but" so maybe change the full stop to a comma. " Paths that outright *shun* away from killing or avoid" should be "shy" "arrived and *was* observing us" should be "were"

Staudi

Tyftc!

Adam Taylor

Hypeeddd tyfc Zog the eventual cliffhanger is gonna be painful

Childish Jordino

Eastbound Monk is probably chosen of the Daofather right? It would make sense for his power level and standing there equally with two other chosen of Primordials

Xander

Shhhhh! Otherwise Zog will go for his break early!

DerangedMan

The mysterious threat is obviously the race that was all powerful in the first era that Rigoria wiped out, she fucked up and missed some of the bastards.

Tomer Yud

holy!! that ending gave me chills!!!

definitelynotbrjenness

Orange man's intro to Jake started as, "hey fellow chill dude. Pleasure to meet you. I would love to learn about you and your planet's culture."

Jacob Isham

Damnnnn. What if the monk came to the simulation just to talk to Jake because his “teacher”(maybe fist sage) asked him to. Then he offs himself and SS and Jake get their rematch.

Daryl

Oh, I thought the ambush plotline was going to stay shelved for a while longer.

djthomp

Well now, that just took a fascinating turn. The monk making a distinction between patron and teacher is also a bit interesting. I know it's a long shot, but I wonder if there's any chance he's also connected to the First Sage.

IntenseSushi

Tftc the eastbound monk is a gossip queen

Josie

Pretty sure the damage Jake feels on EM is just the angry ice that EM allowed to hit him after EM killed Wintermaul

Fyrtue

I feel like we would have had more notice. It's possible for sure but Jake has met another primordial's chosen (dragon at the party after nevermore), but there weren't any signs when he met monk that his blessing reacted.

Childish Jordino

Yeah, but the Monk has been flying under the radar, and his faction is probably the most unknown and elusive faction of a primordial. If he is that much stronger than the other participants and is on their level it would make sense. And the Wyrmgods chosen wasn't hiding who he was at the time

Loststar7

Thanks for the chapter. Glad this came so early in the week. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Cory S.

Why did I immediately picture Saitama when it described the Eastbound monk as a “bald headed, stereotypical young looking monk”? Is this One-Punch Man? Zog, are you a fan of that series? From what we have seen from Carmen’s POV. He is extremely fast and since her legs had been pulped we can assume he is extremely strong to get past her extreme durability so thoroughly.

Antony M

I would guess he is a planted agent for that group within the Dao Sect.

Tomislav Fistrić

Oh the intrigue, the mystery! The fu**ing cliffhanger man! :P good chapter

Zenthos

Yeah I this monk is just to suspicious. I dont even belive him when he said he was bluffing about not knowing Jake was there.

Nikola Tobias Hunter

And there's the bombshell! Gods it only took, what 40 chapters since the last one. I've been a waiting.

BumAssBumAss

Since the monk's objective isn't to win, but to talk to Jake, I don't think we are getting a Jake vs eastbound monk. We might get a 2v1 against the monk seeing as to how powerful he is being hinted as.

Brian Schutt

“Sword Saint had learned something that had entirely changed her perception.”— his perception.

Brody Stafford

Who knows. The Sword Saint is fluid with his age, maybe he is also experimenting with being fluid with his gender now too.

Siethrobo

@zenthos I do. Jake was confused about only having 1 observer, he would have noticed the Monk noticing him and since it's tied to his bloodline, Monk wouldn't be able to trick him on that at least.

Siethrobo

If he's the chosen of the Daofather then the Daofather might have told him. I believe all the primordials know. It's been awhile and Eversmile, Yggdrasil, Aeon Clock, and Villy all knew about it the day that it happened.

Totes

Maybe EBM had some party members from this mysterious group in nevermore?

Matt

What does he know, what does he know..

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

NicN

Tftc

Farak

Very true. But I would be hugely surprised if this monk is as deceptive as the orange menace. In fact, the final sentences here suggest the guy has some serious insight and discussion to share.

Grimsayer

And the plot thickens. Time for some spice.

Mitha

Well, I was not expecting to learn more about the mysterious faction here. I think they were not mentioned since Jakes lesson in the Order.

Justin

So wait , have we ever gotten explicitly stated confirmation eastbound monk is in fact a chosen at all let alone of daolord?

Siethrobo

Right it wouldn't be the second sage, because that one would be tied to Aeon Clock... Badumtiss

BumAssBumAss

I'm slightly curious as to how this unknown organization is going to ambush Jake again. Villy is now accompanying Jake during his teleportation and anything that can toy in the 93rd universe is restricted in their movements.

Derek Wallace

So I feel like the ambush and the eastbound monk have ties back to the First Sage. We already know that he formed Karma with all of the primordials. We also know that he spent only a brief time teaching Villy in C grade, who’s to say he didn’t interact with all of the primordials the same way? I think the First Sage was the first God. I believe Villy killed a C grade avatar. This theory makes it highly unlikely that the first Sage doesn’t still have “students”. This may be why the Monk makes a distinction between patron and teacher.

Bunny

Tftc.

Steven Myer

How did the nonbinary sword saint defeat the Eastbound Monk? They / Them 😉

Erebos

4 Forgotten Human

SmokeJam

It was obvious the Monk knows shit, I still find myself immensely curious. His chill demeanor also gives me El Hakan flashbacks, I really hope he is not a similar kind of asshole. Would be nice for Jake to actually make allies outside of his Earth/Nevermore circle.

Suzanne Pearson

Yeah, but as soon as the Orange Cheetos first convo ended, Jake realized he’d been mind fucked. Not so nice intro after all.

Suzanne Pearson

Well, being fluid in his gender would expand the sword saint harem options….

E S

He he might not turn out so nice, it might turn out that his philosophy is quite chilling, painting his demeanor in an entirely different light. I doubt Jake finds the opportunity to speak away from the eyes of his Patron very valuable, but the monk certainly values it Immensely.

Suzanne Pearson

Kinda makes you wonder what Oras is doing with Jake’s forgotten baby- the Oras eye….. watching these people or the dark part of the universe…..

Clint

Perhaps he had perfectly ordinary companions, but they have since been erased from the records of the multiverse by the hidden faction.

High Beta

Wow, I didn't see that coming. Excellent chapter that opens up so much. Maybe there's going to be a new alliance.

John Durrett

The only equal opportunity the SS has is sticking his sword in anyone who goes against him.

Kewi397

When did William even get a chance to talk to sword saint? How did William even know what happened in the monks anti chamber, he wasnt there? They definitely didn't have enough time when they got together. Maybe karma? Maybe I am forgetting something, but that seems like a hole

Coramoor

William used karma to read who everyone killed and judge their antichambers then informed the rest of the earth crew through telepathy

Josie

next chapter should be "An Even Monk"

Rewdan

OMD I didn’t see that coming. Absolutely no clue no idea. Zogarth you are a genius.

Manowar

Very probable situation and something we have not seen yet but very eastbound monk what we know so far.

Manowar

Unless it is a sort of bonding thing between Jake and EB monk I doubt it and feel William would have noticed a weird karmic connection between the two already. But it was the first thing i think of when there is emphasis on "teacher".

Manowar

The last... or a group that loves water levels.

Manowar

I think he went solo. Maybe because he has to for some reason or its what his path is. Might give Jake some inspiration for his solo stuff.

Gracie

dun dun duuuuuun!! extra special mid week cliffhanger! I know I'd be shitting myself if this was Friday. tftc!! 🏹🗡🧘‍♂️

Fdrugc

Tftc "Not on the surface, anyway, but the Sword Saint had learned something that had entirely changed her perception." "“In times like these, it’s difficult to forget it’s all merely a simulation,”" Suggested edit change "her" to him. And change "difficult" to easy.

Thanks a bunch

Rewdan

Tea is being spilt everywhere

UNKNOWN

I distinctly remember The First Sage, and not "the fist sage."

Pakkeng

I cant wait for more dammit!

ShadowFox

Yeah, that monk guy is a meanie and Jake should totally take him out!

Jax

Remember, he still needs a 2 day break to get his chapters starting with a 5 or a 0 on Mondays

Dylan Hilliard

That was my first thought. It would make sense that a version or the First Sage was his teacher. There is a way to test that theory to say forbidden knowledge to see if he knows of or if he is aware of him.

Dylan Hilliard

Water level mushrooms! The absolute worst enemy Jake will ever face!

Rewdan

It’s actually Tom.

Daniel Hamilton

but the Sword Saint had learned something that had entirely changed her perception. Edit -> changed his

Gh0st-Hunt3r

actually this sentence -“This entire world is lacking, as you said. But do you know it lacks most of anything?” Should say -“This entire world is lacking, as you said. But do you know what it lacks most of all?” 😁😁

mahmoud fathy

I dont think william would detect a faint karmic connection. He is not eversmile

John

I’m gonna guess the monk had access to some sacred secrets scrolls

Coramoor

I'm as intrigued as anyone although now I'll admit that I'm slightly worried about the summer break cliffhanger although this can't drag that long. I don't think EBM is related to the first sage, that would be very odd. The Daofather or the group related to attempt on Jake maybe or some other group that watches the watchers Definitely have to wonder if the rest of his team was oblivion-ized afterwards though

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Alright, Here's my take on all this! as for The Eastbound Monk, I would say shame on🙎‍♂️ you for fooling Jake but, 🤣 it's just too funny. Jake you should have known man, you did say "He couldn’t feel anyone observing him besides what he assumed to be the Abundant Emperor," so shouldn't your Intuition/instincts told you he was lying? Anyways as for the First Sage i remember him telling the Viper that he had to die.... Why? well i think he had found a way to merge with the system. In the early stages of the Integration of the first Universe, the system was New and still learning, Maybe the first sage found a way to "Teach" the system and maybe he manifested himself as different beings for all the Primordials to teach and guide them all towards where they needed to be for balance to guide there paths. We've only heard one perspective during this whole book series, The Malefic Viper's and Jake's. Anyways my other theory is that because the sage had [Bloodline of the Immortal Mind] he could see everything as a whole all at once and concluded he needed to step in and guide everything. I also thought that maybe this MYSTERIOUS FACTION is trying to bring the first sage Back from death and needs Jakes [Harbinger Of Primeval Origin] Ability to Bring Something back to its Primeval Origin ie.. bring back the sage! Also the fact that Eron is in the dao sect and he can see the Spark or [Truesoul] of others, Even a truesoul in an object as indicated by him seeing the forest kings soul in jakes mask leads me to believe that he Found an object holding an echo of the first sages truesoul and with jakes help can bring him back. The Dao Sect honestly is the organization most alligned with the first sage! and i think it should be noted this mysterious faction didn't try to grab jake until After Eron dissapeared for awhile. I hope i gave some of you something to think about and maybe my theories made you think 🤔

Gh0st-Hunt3r

I'm also curious about The Eastbound Monk mentioning this place not being able to be observed by gods. either the Dao Sect is in league with the mysterious faction and the eastbound monk is Against this and wanted to let jake know, or either some of them are involved and one of the members told The EBM to tell jake about it! I don't have enough Information yet lol Jake Needs to mention The First Sage and see if The EBM knows about him !

Corey Herington

Nice some more into on the mystery people. entirely changed her(his) perception. “This entire world is lacking, as you said. But do you know (what) it lacks most of anything(all)?” deactivated his stealth still(skill) and spoke.

Lynderyn

The Dao Lord knows the enemy?!?!?!?

heltok

Could there be many sages? Trying to remember, will have to reread but didn’t the king task many academics to figure out stuff and prevent the desolation? The first sage might have been the leader, but maybe there were more sages involved and they fractured and EBM has another sage as his teacher?

Corvid

The metaphorical sword just as much as the literal one, if you catch my drift. The blade knows many a sheath of all materials

Corvid

Digesting it probably. Actually, can an infinite cluster of eyes even eat

Jimbo

Conspiracy time. Honestly, this virtual world thing is boring - no levels, poor skill improvements, titles suck, no gear. But THIS is interesting

John

Reminds me that the Soul Fist said something cryptic about the Dao Father knowing something about Jake, at the end of his fight in the nevermore challenge dungeon

Rob Lyon

I don't think his teacher will turn out to be the first sage but I do think his teacher may be involved with the unknown group of people that are after Jake and maybe the eastbound Monk isn't particularly a fan of that and is here to give Jake warning

Rob Lyon

He may not be ever smile but he is probably the best karmic mage in B grade so I think he would detect if there was a weird karmic bond between the two although Jake's shroud messes up karmic connections so maybe not

Rob Lyon

This just means that one's going to be much worse

Daniel

Monk for president :)

beeve

Crazy interaction.. did not expect that hahaha

Gh0st-Hunt3r

I'm definitely getting a Mr. Roger's Vibe from the monk "It's a beautiful day in the simulation, a beautiful day for a neighbor, would you be mine, wont you be mine wont you be ...my..." and he attacks Hwa...POOOOWW!

Gh0st-Hunt3r

I still say that the Mysterious faction ambushing jake in the void was ALLOWED to happen by Oras probably to get jake to Primeval Origin Juice his [Eye Of Oras] I'm betting nothing happens in the void without the Void gods Knowledge and say so !

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Thats a good guess my dude I never even considered this option 😲

Gh0st-Hunt3r

I'll check out your book if you'll check out my book in progress and give feedback 😁

PapaJohn

Jake needs meat to feed on for his path to godhood and beyond, and I think this “dark gods” faction is exactly that

Nikki Smith

I don't view this monk as chill, rather more depressed with all the sighing and sad expressions.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

What a curve ball 🤩 Thank Minaga err.. ''Villy'' that it's not a Friday cliffhanger or I'd lose my damn mind. The Dao sect can sit tight for now cuz the concept of Oblivion is waaaay more interesting atm.

SqrlyGrly

First sage is forbidden knowledge. Even if he did mention him, it wouldn't matter.

Zogarth

Fix stuff. And starting a sentence with "but" is totally fine, especially when someone is talking.

beeve

How do they know what villy and ever smile couldn’t even figure out?

Corvid

Yeah, he's called The Prophet of PainTM

Phil Ritter

I mean it’s easy to see why the Dao sect would know about the incident I’m just questioning why the top brass would confide into a rising star like that considering there are few topics as top secret as this one

Jayrajsinh Chavda

So, I think Jake and SS both are going to lose to EBM here. Because they need to inform their patrons about this and it is a good time, too, since there's a period of transitioning to next event. And also because all the preparation done by Miranda in case Jake lost would be worthless.

WRKSteele

the Eastbound Monk reminds me of Chiun in the '85 Remo Williams movie.

E
