Jin's Amazing Garfield Gwen Stacy! (Patreon)

Gwen Stacy! The girl that is either known for being dead, or now more popularly known as Miles’ BFF+

It’s funny depending on how you see it, but you either think of Gwen as “not dead anymore” or “the cool girl from Spiderverse” and that's a good comic litmus test to really show your age 🙃

But as far as minifigs are concerned, Gwen here is another nice looking fig... sorta.

I really love that minty pale green for the coat! However I find the simplicity of this fig showing through a little too strongly compared to Peter Parker.

Perhaps it’s a depth thing?

Like this costume on screen is a long coat over a skirt and blouse, paired with tights and knee high boots. In minifig form, it looks more like Gwen’s wearing a shawl or thin bathrobe over some high waisted pants with some pattern at the knees.

Or maybe that’s just how my eyes are trained to see it in a Lego format…?

It’s a shame too, because the really cool tights design gets lost, not to mention the layering that costume had is just not as easily apparent here. The print work is perfectly serviceable, but the design adaptation leaves me a little unimpressed.

Same can be said about those faces… yet again Jin’s faces are fine to bad. They both seem to have tiny mouths and big eyes that just… idk it doesn't do it for me. An official Lego head swap will be inevitable here

The hair piece is nice though!

Unlike Peter’s hair, this character absolutely warranted  a custom mold! Her hair is so distinct compared to anything in the Lego part-catalog that custom was the way to go 👍🏻

I mean just look at this fig with the closest official hairpiece… it’s just not the same…

Hell, this custom hair even works wonders for my current Sue Storm fig!

$55 for this one! Half the price of Peter and still works well for what Jin produced here! It’s simple, but effective in what it ultimately comes down to!

I like it, but it could have been better 🤷🏻‍♂️
