MrJ Bricks Tomar-Re & Romat-Ru (Head Pack?) (Patreon)

Back in March, MrJBrick launched some weird items through their resellers in what I assumed was an attempt to follow the “JakaLite” model, or PCB’s “Extras” packs. Bringing the cost of production down without necessarily sacrificing the quality so you can "customize" you figs without the need to buy a full fig.

Regardless, this one intrigued me at least a little, but uh... MrJ made these two heads that… well frankly I would have preferred a whole minifig if I’m honest.

If ya know your GL’s, Tomar-Re is a lanky orange Bird(fish?) guy with elf ears, a beak, and the most goofy ass lookin eyes you’ve ever seen!

Orange? Nope.

Beak? Eh, kinda?

Elf Ears? Most certainly! 

MrJ went with more of the “modern look” for the character. Which I guess is the safer bet at the end of the day given the concept in which these items were sold. It gives everyone the chance to be disappointed! :)

Okay okay okay! That’s a bit harsh! I love what we got here, but it’s not enough for meeeeeee

I wanted MrJ to have made us custom long limbs to go with the heads! Like it’s a no brainer right? If these are intended to go with Lego-Official torsos, then why draw the line at just their heads? I also would’ve loved to receive a molded beak element that could attach at the neck. Ya know, to give these two Xudarian’s a little more depth! Because these faces are flaaaat

Regardless, it’s still an upgrade to my (almost) purist figs that’ve been floating around in my collection since like 2015 when we all use those "weird new Chima" figs for all kinds of Lantern figs

As for the lack of orange color, well that’s an easy fix for a guy with photoshop, but ya can’t photoshop everything! I want some long legs damnit!

$25 a pop (per head & gauntlets) also wasn’t fun. But when you break it down I guess that like $6 a piece?

I like the concept of spending less to make a character I like, but am I 100% satisfied? No! I’m a nitpicking reviewer! I’m supposed to have a bit of snark! Everybody loves a hater!
