Surprise! I’ve got some more figs to talk about! This time coming at you with KO Custom Minifigs updated Wolverine and brand new Beast!

First of all, Wolverine’s box is great! That pose referencing that one cover from 80s Wolverine solo series is great (from the run by Frank Miller if I remember correctly)! That charming reflective print across the claws is a really fun idea that instantly made me smile as soon as I saw it! :)

Now, a little bit of background on this fig if you’re new to the custom fig collection scene, one of KO’s first releases back in like 2015/2016 was their own version of this 90s Wolverine fig and after about a year of it being sold, that fantastic fig was gone forever, until now!

By all technical accounts, this is a re-release of one of their earliest projects and man am I glad to finally snag one! It’s got a fantastic collection of updated prints and parts and just ugh, I could gush over this new fig all day long! :P

Well… except for maybe that cowl...

Now it could just be because I’ve been so used to the official lego part released nearly a decade ago, but this custom one just looks a bit… squat (for lack of a better word). It’s neck is a bit short and the cranium is rather dome-like. The eye holes are also a bit deep and don’t let much light in. And those black wings are rather thin and (again) rather squat looking. However they are much more sharp looking by comparison, which is actually quite nice… but it’s not quite enough to hold it up to my personal standards.

But to make up for it, the shoulder pads are probably my favorite custom part here and just really bring the look of the character together in a way that none of the other official figs have ever done.

And of course we’ve gotta talk about the shiny claws in the room! Those chromed claws are fantastic and it’s great to see them get a comeback since KO’s original wolverine that came out! The claws back then were really great and one of the big selling points, and it’s wonderful to see them get re-released again here with this fig!

Now talking about the prints, that second head that was included is also just lovely! I love the pointy-toothed grimace that is just iconic to Logan’s look during the 90s (not to mention that it’s also double sided just like the main yellow head!)

All in all with a quick swap of the headpiece, this one is certainly worth the $100 price tag! No regrets here! :P

Now before I go, we gotta talk about Beast! Yet another killer fig by KO Customs!

Hank McCoy here is just a perfect translation of his look from the 90s and that blue hair is just top tier stuff! It is a teeny tiny bit off shade from the blue of lego’s plastic, but still it’s pretty dang close! However I have my hunches (and hear me out on this) that it’s not a custom made part by KO, but rather a knock-off element produced by a third party (possibly a Kopf element)! It’s much cleaner compared to their Wolverine cowl and feels less hand-made… if that makes any sense. Taking a close look at one and then the other it certainly makes ya wonder...

But hey, just like Wolverine he too had printing on all four sides of the legs! That fur pattern that KO designed just looks so good! I do feel however that he could have benefited with coming with any kid of accessory, like a book or a beaker or something (but at the same time I could understand why he wouldn’t so it would keep the cost down) Because at $60 for this one, that’s a tough sell for anyone that’s not much more than just a casual X-Men fan.

Also one thing that I feel is important to mention about these two was that KO held no pre-production pre-orders for these two figs. It was a refreshing sense of nostalgia to back when custom fig producers released the sale of a fig when it was actually complete rather than having to wait for months (or sometimes years) these days; Christo could learn a thing or two from them :P

It was great though! I ordered these on a Tuesday and they were at my door by Monday afternoon! It took ‘em less than a week from the money dropped to the package being opened and it was SO nice! It didn’t leave me any time to ponder my financial choices and grow a heap of anxiety over the possibility that the customizer forgot about my order! All the stress from buying a custom fig was nonexistent which only helped to elevate the fun of actually having it arrive :P

So yet again, two more X-Men figs that I’m glad to have in my collection!

...I can only imagine what tomorrow will bring ;)
