HEY THERE FOLKS. here are some things:


1) your June demo will be arriving with you tomorrow! It's been pretty much done for a day now but I'm a sucker for just giving one last listen/tweak. :) cannot wait for you to hear it.


2) You may recognise the faces (or at least the names) of the folk in this photo, from the comment sections right here in the Secret Demo Club.. left to right it's Wouter, meeeee, Sonia and Drew. I had a wonderful night out with these lads last night, plus the silky-voiced Conor (sorry, I don't yet have the snap with you in it!). Drew is over in the UK from the States and linked up with Wouter and Sonia to plan an awesome trip together through Amsterdam, Paris and now London (they had never met each other before getting to know each other here on Patreon!). It's amazing to think of the friendships we've built on here; this space is nothing without all of you in it. :)

(p.s. if anyone is in London and wants to organise to meet up, just fire me a message on here and if I'm free I'm all yours!)


3) Laaaaastly, part of the reason I've ended up working on the demo so late into the month is because I got sidetracked with about 3 other ideas.. lol. One of those is attached, if anyone fancies a listen! It's a song I started writing about a lost friendship that I kind of struggle to get over. It's about seeing that person at a social event, like a birthday party or something, and how it feels to go from such an intense to such a casual dynamic. Yuck.

You definitely need to finish that "see you soon" song. A story. I moved twice in my mid-20s. Switched countries and left behind a lot of friends. I moved again 3.5 years later and now I have "batches" of Facebook friends from different parts of the world. I get to watch people get married, have kids, send them to school, etc. Every once in a while I get to hang out with friends from "the old life". I've learned that human connection is a long-lasting thing. The deepest connections are indelible. We all get to leave our marks on each other, even if we don't choose to grow that particular friendship.

This update was not about a Mini Cooper. I want a refund. (There's my lame joke for this post) That's so cool. People coming together through musical interests is the one the coolest things in the world to me. I'm happy for them and it's great of you to meet them! Whenever in London? (I'm actually wanting to go down again on my birthday and just walk around just because it's my perfect place (what the frick are perfect places, anyway?) and super duper excited to hear the demo tomorrow. A nice way to end the first working week!

That vocoder-ish effect on the chorus(?) is so beautiful. I did prefer the slower tempo in the Facebook/Instagram video.. it felt more emotional and heartfelt, I felt the slower tempo fit with the verse lyrics better.. But that's probably just me. :P This is still wonderful, though. <3 The instrumental melody in the verse reminds me of Muse's 'Falling Away With You' and that makes me sooo nostalgic and happy. SOOO GOOOOD. haha
